That's awesome!!! You are very inspiring to me! Believe me, I would be excited too if I was in Onederland with a Hot Man by my side! That is definitely a NSV!

Tee hee! Here's one I never thought about: Just now I was cleaning up and organizing my many bookmarks, something I don't do nearly often enough. In the category "shopping" I deleted a dozen saved sites for PLUS SIZE clothes! Won't be needing those again, nosirree!!

I am SO happy! I just got home from my 6 month check up. I am down 88 POUNDS!!!! I am Thrilled! I absolutely LOVE my sleeve! Twelve pounds away from loosing 100 lbs.!! I have never been able to loose that much weight. Ever. I am so thankful fort he sleeve. This surgery is a life saver! I had a HUGE NSV last month. I have not been able to go to the grocery store with out using the electric scooter for over 2 years. Since last month I have been able to use a regular grocery cart and shop on my own sans kids for the help. I can't believe the change I have made. I can walk and shop again!!!!In August I had to go on an airplane. I DID NOT need a seat belt extender! Life is getting so much better! I feel so blessed! I only wish I could have done the surgery a decade (or more!) ago! -

Well, I'm a dummy. I've seen the acronym NSV several times here and I still don't know what it means. Can someone 'splain me?

Today I had a NSV. At work (a popular gym) it was pizza night ( don't get me started on that), and I didn't have one peice not even a BITE and for the most part I wasn't even tempted. I ate my lunch and drank my Water. At one point I walked over to the boxes and even opened it up and I was strong enough to say no. I've also been doing really well with my eating. Side note: anyone else who was told to swallow and wait 60 seconds to take another bite? I've been using the stop watch on my phone and find it helps me a lot! When taking a bath you divide the tub into two separate ponds, like you can pull the plug, but until you get up the water behind you doesn't move.... nsv: My @$$ no longer touches both sides!! Water can actually swirl all the way around me!

Pete, Sounds to me like this is one of those NSV (non-scale-victory) weeks. The clothes are getting bigger so you have lost inches. Like they said Probably water weight. Hope i do as well as you.

Busy week- NSV's, first stuck episode!
2muchfun replied to Healthymama2's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Congrats on the NSVs. When you get stuck next time you shouldn't sip any Water or anything. Your pouch and esophagus are filled and adding water or Fluid on top of the food only pushes up against your pouch and esophagus. Can make it all take longer with more pain. jmo -

Why am I not losing weight?!
James Marusek replied to LINZ62383's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Generally when I had my surgery, I gained several pounds when I was in the hospital because they pumped my body full of fluids. It took several days before I lost that weight and arrived at my pre-surgery weight. So please do not panic at this stage. Just keep following all the rules and you should see the pounds begin to fall off sharply. It is important to walk every day for around a half hour during the first year post-op. Also some people get so wrapped up in watching the scale that it stunts their weight loss because it totally stresses them out. To correct this problem, some individuals simple chose do not to weigh themselves and rather use the weight from their visit to the surgeon's office. So if stress is a major factor, then relax and consider alternatives to relieving the stress. My primary goal in getting gastric bypass surgery was to correct my severe health conditions. I had high blood pressure and diabetes and a host of other adverse health issues. Most of these were solved in the first couple weeks. I am around 4 1/2 years post op at this point and they remain in remission. So generally I met my primary goal almost immediately. Everything else was gravy. I measures success after this in terms of pounds lost, in reduced waist sizes and the ability to fit into smaller clothes, and also into non-scale victories (NSV's). As an example of an NSV, I had bought a beautiful Mazda Miata convertible when I retired but I had gained so much weight that I could hardly get inside it unless I had the top down. Now it fits like a glove. -
Unexpected NSV - I'll take it!

Awesome, awesome story and nsv! Doesn't get any better than that. Good for you! -
I have a black tie event to attend on Nov. 12th and I brought my dress (bought in the summer) to be altered since it takes a couple weeks for alternations. The dress had to be taken in 5 inches!! The seamstress said,"Lady, you should have bought 2 sizes smaller". Super excited. I'm having them alter it tight so it will still fit in a couple weeks. Yay!

NSVs - the little things that make you sooooo happy!
Djmohr posted a topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
This weekend I had to go shopping. I was down to one pair of jeans and 5 tops that are literally beginning to hang on me. For my birthday I received a gift card to Victoria's Secret and some cash to buy clothes because my family knows I needed them badly. I wanted some new work out clothes, Lucky Jeans and a top or two. I never imagined that when I went to try on clothes that I would be able to fit into a size 12 or a large! When I started this journey I was a size 24 pants and a 26/28 top! I still have about 30lbs I would like to lose so I am now even more excited about where I will end up. When I started on this journey I was looking for improved health, that was my main goal and it was a good one. It never dawned on me that I would even care about clothing size because I hated the way I used to look and could not even imagine myself being smaller. Well I definately achieved my better health goal and now I can actually see myself getting to a healthy weight and looking fabulous in clothes again. Woot woot! -
Great NSV!! Here's mine... I've noticed my bras getting a little loose at the top and the straps kept falling off my shoulders. Finally went to Soma to buy a new one since that's where I bought my last one... Had to try on several to get one that fit properly.... Went from a 42DD to a 40C!! Havent seen a 40C in the last 10 years, since before I started having kids!!! I've been a little down that the scale has been yo-yoing the last few weeks but now I can see that I may not have lost pounds but I can see where the inches came off!!!

I actually flew to Portland on Thursday. Even before surgery I did not have to ask for a seat belt extender, but I was getting close! My nsv is that on Thursday, I was able to cross my legs while sitting in a coach seat!! I couldn't believe it and I kept crossing and uncrossing them just to prove I could do it. Amazing! Travel is so much easier now and I plan to do a lot more!

Cinco De Mayo Bandsters Update Please
Northwest_Nance replied to Parteetime's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was banded on May 15th and had my first fill June 12th. I get my second fill in two days. I have lost about 33 pounds since my highest weight. I don't have much restriction and I've been "on plan" most of the time since surgery, but I've indulged here and there too, which I know has slowed down my weight loss, but a few times, I fell into the trap of telling myself.... "I should have a sandwich because once I'm restricted I won't be able to". The restriction I feel is when I try to eat a full sized meal, like a restaurant meal of salad, 8 oz. prime rib, baked potato and veggies. Then I can't clean my plate as I used to (well I could, but I listen to what my tummy is telling me and I stop eating). I'm looking forward to a level of restriction that will allow me to safely eat smaller meals and feel as satisfied with the smaller meal as I do with the restaurant meal. I'm working out with the Wii Fit and using my treadmill. I've been going for walks in the park near my office at lunch time on pretty days. I feel really really good. I was walking with a cane due to a hip injury and arthritis at the time of my surgery, and I've already been able to give up the cane. And by the way, what are NSV's? It's great to hear from all my fellow May bandsters!
