    Kate's "The Works" special

LOL! My partner, Chris, says he's never known anyone who can survive on as little sleep as I do. I work away on the mines and am always up by 4:45am when at work, so if I make 5:30am at home, that's a real sleep in. I'm usually in bed by 10pm but will be up again between 12 and 1 for a half hour and then again at around 3am. I never used to be a morning person but my whole body clock changed when I started mine work and I am now bouncing off the walls with energy between 5 and 9am (and usually ready for a nap again at 9:30, LOL!). My energy levels have tripled also, since I lost the weight - in fact, that's probably been the best NSV of them all.

    Nsv!!!!

OMG you guys I got checked out yesterday! I was driving and I noticed a car pulling up to beside me quite a bit. I figured it was some jerk so I ignored it. Then he beeped and I thought maybe he was trying to tell me something was wrong with my car so I looked over. He waved, winked, smiled at me, pointed to me and mouthed "you're hot"! It's been a LOOOOOOONNGG time since that happened. I'm happily married but it's nice to get noticed again. Scary in some ways too, but it definitely made me smile. I was feeling pretty down on the band yesterday because I was stuck all day but after that, I'm feeling pretty band-positive again! :whoo: On a side note, does that actually work on ANY woman? Like I'd be all "Oh, I'm hot? Well pull over and let's have a go!". While he made my day, he's obviously an idiot. LOL Just had to share as it made my day and who else can I tell?
  3. I just got an email from the center where I exercise asking if I would be willing to be the Spotlight Member for the October newsletter!!! ME!!??? I can not believe it. Granted I have been there almost every day since May 24th but Im soooo flattered and proud and just cant believe it! 5 months ago I didnt want to go to the grocery store and now I will be in the spotlight!! So crazy! I'm sooo excited! I am working really hard and it's amazing when other people notice! Seriously never could have imagined I would be in the spotlight for a fitness article!! MIND IS BLOWN!!! Push yourselves!! This journey is AMAZING and it only gets better!! This feels so much better than french fries taste!! Feeling proud today that is for sure!

    Desperately seeking some input!!!

I have had the same problem the last 2 months It seems that I am also battling to keep losing the same 5 lbs. in the last 4 months I have lost a about 10 lbs. It can be quite frustrating on the bright side I have gone from a 42 waist to a 38 waist. I started out with a 54 inch waist at this same time last year. I have gone done from size a 3XXX shirts to X shirts. My health has never been better and though it is frustrating I have to rely more on the NSV until my body decides to start losing weight again. The other plus is that by now if I had hit this type of plateau I would have given up and gain 30 lbs by now.
  5. I suppose I'm just looking to share with others in my shoes. I'm 6 wks out today. I hit the dreaded 3 week stall I assume because the scale hasn't moved in 3 weeks. That's a long ass stall! I just got home from a business trip in Vegas. My plan allows for crab meat and baked fish at this point and I figured I could share with my husband. It was SO much harder than I anticipated. I had the expected difficulties with wanting to eat steak and all the other wonderful things that got me to bariatric surgery. I did not expect that I couldn't eat anything!! My stomach is not ready for fish or crab. I tried two bites, chewed well and hurt for hours. I was so discouraged. I had protein bars packed and ate those, but I really struggled to get any significant protein or calories in. I wanted to cry. I was so mad at myself for having this surgery! All this and the damn scale hasn't moved in 3 weeks! How do you not lose weight on 600 calories a day max? Then I went to the spa for a massage. And for the first time in years, I was able to wear the regular robe out the locker. The attending didn't have to discreetly get me a "different robe." Such a small thing, but it made such a big difference in my attitude. I wish my sleeve was healing faster. I wish I could tolerate a larger variety of foods. But, I know its going to get better. And it's going to be worth it.
  6. Those are great examples of NSVs! Congratulations and thanks for sharing!

UGH....need to find my groove...holidays are over

I love what someone once told me....the band is around our stomachs, not our brains! This was my 1st holiday season with the band and had just assumed I would do fantastic but, being a food addict, I didn't so so well over the holidays either. I grazed, nibbled, and ate for 2 solid weeks. I don't want to step on the scale because even though I know I didn't do as well as I should have, I DID NOT do the damage that I once did and, for me, that is a NSV. If I am up a couple of pounds, I take ownership of it and blame no one else but myself. The past is the past and I am back on track now. I (HOPEFULLY) learned a lesson on how to cope with the holidays for next year but can't look too far beyond day to day. I am proud that today I went to the gym at 5 a.m. and had a healthy, Protein rich Breakfast. That is all I can ask of myself right now. Hope everyone has a happy and healthy 2011!!! Katie
  10. Hahaha I had a partial chinectomy, but not a full one yet. I am hoping my next NSV is visible collar bones!

    Friday NSV roll call!

My NSV for this week continues to be that I can do SO MUCH MORE than I could at my highest weight. I'm down several sizes, I can shop in "regular" stores, and I cross my legs every day!

    Success In A Wall Shadow!

I am loving that pic there Diva! Great NSV! x
  13. I am 3.5 weeks out from surgery and had my first nsv this week. I took a trip for the weekend and was very happy to find that I didn't need a seat belt extender on the airplane! It was a great feeling. What non scale victories has anyone else had?

    Hamilton

I watched the Hamilton special last night. Since it was a beautiful fall day in central Kentucky I decided to take a road trip this afternoon to a state park and listened to my Hamilton CD all the way there and back, turned way up! This is an NSV because a year ago I could never have taken a spontaneous road trip like that!

    One year anniversary

Awesome, thanks for sharing your story. One of my NSV goals is to wear white pants, or really any other color than black and brown!!! You go girl!!!

    Where Are You 200+Er's?

This always makes me nervous when I fly. I've never had to purchase 2 seats and I've always flown Delta or US Air. I go through a ritual of selecting seats. Some have more leg room. The last time I flew was in August to Los Angeles from NC. My sister and I were traveling together, so we left our shared armrest up to give me more room (she's an average size and doesn't have to worry). But I've flown with strangers and not had a problem with the armrest down. Just wasn't as comfortable. I have always needed a seatbelt extender. I can't WAIT for that NSV!

    Poll: What is your goal?

I am 5’6 and I think my goal is 150 - which is about the top of my weight range for BMI . Greatest NSV so far is crossing legs comfortably and not having to scooooch up my pants waist to sit down - to cover stomach comfortably in pants [emoji849] HW 242, SW 236- (Bypass 12/20/17) GW#1- 199 [emoji736] (2/11/18) GW#2- 180 [emoji736] (4/2/18) GW#3- 160 CW 175 5’6”

    Poll: What is your goal?

My 2nd time around I started at a HW of 242 at my revision consult. Which was actually heavier than my first wls back in 2010. SW was 226 on 8/8/17. My program never asked me to set a specific goal. If I went by the BMI chart, I should be 142. I had exactly 100lbs of excess weight to lose. My personal goal would be to get to 150. Just at the top of normal on the BMI chart for my height. As of this morning, I have 9lbs to go. My first NSV that really stood out was being able to wear riding boots that weren’t wide calf. Now I can cross my legs easily and even double cross my legs. Also, I tried on jeans on Sunday and was able to put on a size 8 without issue.
  19. I work at a school. We just had a fire drill. It is my job to grab the emergency kit (in a backpack). At the last fire drill I could not pull it over my shoulders. Today I noticed that some people had their backpack on. I thought, why not try? IT FIT! I'm down 50 pounds since December. YAY me! !

    Nsv - Fire Drill

    Awesome NSV!
  22. Out of all my NSV - seeing my collar bone, is still, by far, my favorite. Just wait, there are more surprises, hip bones, rib bones, a real jawline!!! The list is endless. You will be surprised how well you can do with this surgery. It is marvelous!!!!!
  23. Last Sunday I saw one of my mom's good friends, he had not seen me since January of 2011, and I must have been around 360-370 lbs back then. When he saw me he stared at me for a few seconds and told me I was skinny! Never has anyone ever called me skinny, skinny and Paola have never been used in the same sentence. What an awesome feeling! Granted, I am no way near done, but its awesome when you efforts are acknowledged. Thank you Jesus! For I know that without him this would not be possible! I love my sleeve!!
