4 Weeks since Gastric Sleeve Surgery Today! Normal Loss? I Think I'm A Slow Loser
DebiC replied to quazarfrog's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think we all feel that way. Even though it isn't realistic for most-We think the weight should just drop off. It's true that those of us with more weight to lose will lose quicker-our bodies need more calories each day just to move. I've read on here where people have lost 250+lbs in a year and others who have lost 60lbs in a year. I think one thing that's important to me is not to weigh myself often so that I don't become obsessed with how much I've lost or stalled or gained on a daily basis. I need to just keep plugging away and look for more of those NSV-which you seem to hv already noticed in yourself. -
It is amazing what just 30lbs can do...

There are many of the NSV (non scale victory) that make all the hard work worth it! It's an awesome feeling! Sometimes I just do a little jig for the sake of being happy! -
This weekend I went out and hit some garage sales looking for things for my son's new apartment. I saw this very cute denim skirt. It was a size 10. Knowing that I could never wear it I bought it for my daughter....it was only a quarter. I brought it home and, just for $hits and giggles I thought I would try it on and see how close I was to it fitting. I just went from 14 to 12 a couple weeks ago...in fact some 12's still don't fit. Well guess what? That's right...THE DARN THING FIT! Seriously???? Me!?? A 10???? Me who was a 28 just 3 years ago???? Sorry, Kid. Mom's keeping this one!!

I agree with Harley, People with problems are on here more trying to figure out what to do next and people who are doing great are out living they're new life. I am not a fast loser but it's been 12 months since I was banded and I've lost 80 pounds. The 80 pounds itself isn't a whole lot but the nsv's have been great. I was wearing 26's and 3x shirts. I'm 5'8". Now I go into Old Navy and buy 16's or XL pants and they're a little baggy. I wear large shirts, I can paint my own toenails, I don't worry about food or when I'm going to eat because I am very seldom hungry. I can run on the treadmill, I can get in the floor and play with my 2 year old granddaughter and I have a grandson due in 2 months. Life is great once again. I still have another 40 pounds to go but I'll get there and knock on wood, not the first problem with my band. You'll do great and the band is the best tool in the shed by far.

old bandster looking for support, direction, advice

Plateaus can be very discouraging especially if we fall into bad habits. Plateaus can also be the way that a body has to try to encourage us to fall back to the so called good old days, What I find great about the band after 2 1/2 years is that before band I could lose weight but than I would gain the weight back and then an additional 10 lbs. Now if I plateau or even gain 3 to five pounds I do not freak out but go back to the basics and start again. I find it easie not to give up and go back to the old ways of stinking thinking of saying what the use I will always be fat. When I am on a long plateau I usually tend to rely on the NSV especially when they pertain to health issues. At my highest weight of 320+ I had diabetics sleep apnea, back and knee problems, Could barely get off the couch and had a great deal of trouble sleeping and tired all the time. Now no diabetes, no sleep apnea, no knee or back problems, tons of energy, and my grand children can barely keep up with me. -
so when i woke up this morn and decided to get dressed i put my usual pants on only for the past few days they just don't fit right .. too loose.. he he he.. so i went into my room to see if i had anything smaller and i pulled out a pair of pants i bought about 3 years ago i wore these pants a total of about 5 times. .i always said one of these days ill fit in these again.. And for shits and giggles, honestly not thinking they would fit, tried them on anyways.... i had lost enough weight so far to wear them... and not just wear them, but wear them comfortably... funny part is.. half way thru the day i realized something.. they were starting to get a little loose which mean i still wont be able to wear these things for long cuz im just gonna keep losing weight... so i called up a friend and asked her if she would like if i set my pants aside for her... lol i think this would be an nsv? right?

On A Good Note.. Nsv?
Deigh replied to blackanese25's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Aha! NSV makes sense now! I'm with you, blackanese25. I was sleeved 12-8-11 and my pants are falling off me now. I had to go scrounging for underwear this morning because yesterday, they fell down in the middle of a client meeting and I had to excuse myself. Thankfully I had pants on but it was still a strange sensation. -

I am really starting to love these NSV's! They are the best ever! NSV 1: Went shopping yesterday because my work pants are too big (size 16) and ended up buying a size smaller (size 14)! The lady that works at the store said I could probably go down another size as well because if I continue to lose weight they will fit soon (size 12). I decided to stay with the 14 because the 12s were a little too snug for "work attire" - woop woop!! NSV 2: This is the best one yet! I had a funeral to attend to yesterday. A friends father passed away. Anyway afterwards I stopped at my husbands work (he works in a metal shop). He ended up not being there because he was out in the field working that day. Anyway his HR/Benefits person was the one to help me at the front desk. I just told her I was his wife and just dropped in to say hi, so it was no big deal. About 20 minutes after I left he called me and said that the HR/Benefits lady texted him and said, "You're wife is really HOT!!" I didn't believe him so I made him show me the text when he got home that night, it's true she really text him that. A little weird but it made my day! Some random lady I don't know telling my hubby how hot I am, hahaha.

Eight Weeks Out and a New Year!
Jim1967 replied to Bandista's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Green zone is truly amazing but it can be tough to find but in time you will. It took me nearly 6 months to finally get into the green zone. My last fill was Jan 29, 2012 and the weight and inches have been coming off ever since and the portions are small and the head hunger is practically non existent. I love my band and it is amazing the life this little device has given back to me. Stay the course and it can happen for you as well. There will be tough times and perhaps discouragement and times when patience is thin but one thing you must do above all else and that is keep going! Keep your eye on the prize and keep going. Remember even if the scale is not moving you could still be losing inches. Look for NSV's to help motivate you. For me it was about jeans feeling loser or more slack in my belt. Good luck all! -
Kids are so funny!! My little girl who is 6 was one of the main reasons why I decided I needed to do this. I also have a 2 1/2 yr old boy. But she said a couple months ago "Mommy you're fat". OMG I lost it. I started crying and and of course she got upset. Needless to say, Yes that was a slap in the face and a very hard pill to swallow... I'm looking foward to NSV.. Keep up the good work!!

That's an awesome NSV. I almost bought a bikini yesterday, wish I had bought it now. I keep thinking about it! It was orange and red striped soooo cute! think I'll go back and get it. Thanks for the inspiration! You go GIrl!

April 2006 Bandits December Challenge
*susan* replied to JulieNYC's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Julie, I so hear you about the seats! The last time I was at my daughter's middle school auditorium, the seats were so snug I was actually afraid my big behind was going to get stuck. We went to her concert Friday night and I was worried, then happily surprised when I had no problem fitting into them, and even had extra room! I think that is a huge NSV! Bluehill, congrats on reaching the less than 100 to lose mark, doesn't it feel awesome??!! I have definitely decided that my next goal is onederland. I would like to be there by March 1st. I have about 38 pounds to get there, so I think that is a reasonable goal. 12/1: No exercise. 72 oz. Water 12/2: 40 minutes treadmill. 72 oz. water. -
It finally fits!

I got dressed for work today and realized that my belt, even on the tightest hole, was still too big. I went to the shoemaker during lunch hour and had him put two more holes into the belt, so it should last me a little while longer. The lady who owns the shop was really cute -- she didn't charge me and told me that if I gained weight, then she would charge me. What a great feeling! Of course, I could have gone out and bought a new belt, but I think I enjoyed adding the holes to this one even more. Especially, since it wasn't that long ago that the belt was just barely fitting me on the loosest hole and I was just about ready to move up to the next size. I truly do believe I've been given a second chance at making my life work for me. All the best to all of you out there. Brian

WAHOO! No seat belt extension needed!
Djmohr replied to VDB's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Congratulations! This was one of my favorite NSVs! Everytime I get in an airplane seat I am reminded of what it was like to ask for that damned extender. Now, I strap that belt on and I have nearly a foot of extra! Speaking of which, I have a flight to catch tomorrow morning. Going home from Minneapolis after having my 12 month check up post surgery! -
