My Nsv From My Doctor!

Woo Hoo! That's a terrific NSV!! Hearing positive affirmations from your doctor is amazing!! -
Smiling for you! Awesome NSV! Buy some new shorts on your son's dime! And the shorts didn't get big, you got smaller!!!

OK, so I'm cooking dinner for my grandchildren and my son walks in the front door proceeds over to my granddaughter and whispers in her ear. My granddaughter age 11 comes over and whispers in my wars "Grandma, pick up your shorts they've fallen below your butt. I looked down and said oh my goodness so they have. So, these shorts used to fit nice and now they've gotten too big! I'm losing slowly and it's driving me crazy that my son does not have a bathroom scale in his house I'm assuming I've lost weight but it would be nice to know. I don't return back to my home in FL until August 1st. I'm hoping I have a loss along with this embarrassing but cute NSV!

A few weeks ago some wonderful person put up a topic about posting NSVs. I enjoyed reading it so much so I thought I would share two of mine from this week to get us started! Happy Friday everyone! First NSV, the bath towel ends meet! I wrapped my towel around me this week and noticed that for the first time in recent memory, the bath towel wrapped all the way around and met from top to bottom! Of course if I moved, it became indecent, but since I live alone no one was around to worry about! Second NSV, I had to go buy new pants for work for the first time since surgery. I have gone from a 24 pants to now an 18W. I managed to find two pair of serviceable black dress pants WITH POCKETS and no elastic at the consignment store and with my store credit, I paid $7.50 for 2 pair! These should last for at least a month I am guessing before I have to find something smaller again! I have lots of other size 18-20 clothes that fit, but there were no black dress pants in the box in storage. No more mooning anyone when I get out of my desk chair! Okay, who else has something for us to Celebrate with them this week? pam PS I lost about 5 lbs the end of last week and over the weekend, but haven't lost since Monday so I must be "right sizing" this week!

So I have severe sleep apnea (one that will likely be life long as it’s cause by how small my airway is as opposed to weight). It was bad enough that my insurance actually paid for a BiPap instead of the cpap for me. But anywho, for the past 2 or so weeks, sleep has been terrible. I’ve been exhausted and run down. My husband started to complain that not only am I roaming nightly but there is this whistle he keeps hearing and it gets louder as the night goes on. Well, I realized, the whistle was a leak from my mask. Usually adjusting and tightening fixed it, but a few days ago I realized I had my mask as tight as it would go. I wore a medium amara. Ordered a small to see if that would fix it. And it did! I slept so hard last night and it was amazing and there was no whistle. So kinda weird but after all this weight loss, my mask sizes have changed. I’ll chalk it up as an NSV.

Stall a complete week and this week
allwet replied to amartinez8853's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
start with some meditation. Followed by deep breathing exercises. I am not making fun of what you are going thru just trying to get you to relax and step back a little. Follow your program - completely - The weight will start to come off again. At this point i would very much recommend you stop weighing yourself daily. Switch to once per week and stop the daily mental torture that is the scale. Please read the ongoing post about NSV (non scale victories) there will be times in this process that all you can hold on to are the NSV. Don't look down on all the great things changing in your life as you go forward instead hold these little wins close to your heart and let them carry you till the weight loss returns. good luck and grats on the great progress you have made to date -
Congrats! Time well spend interacting with our children has to be the best NSV yet!

Hi- For years I had been an avid hiker, but for the last 10 years I have been too fat to hike. I figured I would try it again. I went out this morning for what was supposed to be an hours walk-well, guess who got really lost? I took about three hours to get off the mountain. But I did it!!!!!! :whoo:It was hard. My calorie monitor watch says I burned about 1700 calories. Now that's a workout. Now I want to go back ASAP to find out where I messed up!

In two days I will post my 6 month anniversary pic...but for now I wanted to show what I can wear. Since I have lost..I can now wear cute scrubs and not pay an arm and a leg for them!! My sleeve is working its magic!

Nice story....what a great NSV for you. -
I am nearly 2 months post-op and nearly 40 pounds down. Today as I was walking toward a reflective glass door I noticed the most amazing thing! There were these two dark, shadowy areas on either side just below my neck! I had to squint to see what they were. I have hollows above my collar bones! I don't know if they just appeared today or if this sweater is just highlighting them, but either way, I don't remember the last time I had hollows anywhere let alone at my collar bones! Just had to share! pam

My Trainer sees a difference
Band2Sleever replied to RJ'S/beginning's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Good for you! What a great NSV. Keep going -
Today was a good start. My trainer said he can see some refinement in my muscles...There you go..It is working. He said muscle!!!! Asked him if he could see it on my butt. But he just laughed and said we are getting there you know. It is going to be something when I get all my muscle mass back.... Can you call this a NSV!

Flying for a work conference and had to actually tighten the belt instead of having it fully extended. Woot!!

I've looked around but can't find what this means. Is there a place where I can find the abbreviations used on this site?

This may be a dumb question, but what does NSV stand for? I know what it means, but the closest I can guess is "No Small Victories" -
4 Months Out And No More Meds (Diabetes Is Gone)
Webchickadee replied to andi0120's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My father is also a diabetic (not very compliant, unfortunately, but heck he's 84 now and I figure if he wants some sweets at his age, he should have it!). He also has hypertension, and my mother had breast and lung cancer. I am a train wreck waiting to happen! Or at least I was.....now with my sleeve, I think I have a fighting chance to stave off a lot of these impending health disasters (I hope!). The best NSVs ever, in my books! -
It is amazing what just 30lbs can do...
SnohoGal98296 posted a topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
So from the beginning of this path towards and following VSG, one of things on my list that made me make the decision to invest in WLS was when I travelled by air that the meal tray no longer lay flat because my belly would get in the way. Travel is a big part of my job, so this was a constant embarassment for me. There is nothing more embarassing than a flight attendant handing you a meal to a tray that won't lay flat, and at first they just think it isn't fully deployed, then they realize oh no, the tray is stuck on her and the look on their face changes. Total humiliation, right? Not to mention always having to ask for an extension for the seat belt, but at least the flight attendants don't seem phased by that request. Well I am happy to share that today I flew for the first time since my surgery (it was exactly four weeks since surgery and 5 weeks since pre-op diet start - I have lost 31lbs since June 1st) when I boarded that flight I dread two things, fastening the seat belt and using the meal tray; NSV #1 - the seat belt fastened without an extension! it was tight but I was able to fasten it! NSV #2 - the below attached picture is a shot of the fulley deployed meal tray and my belly - it is a little blurry but the white solid mass is the tray and the black and white flowered area is my t-shirt - there was 2-3 inches between my belly and the tray which lay perfectly flat!! You know I have been saying that this first month and 30 lbs was just a drop in the bucket, that I would not start to see benefits for another 30-40 lbs( I have 145 lbs excess weight) - but I was wrong - even 30lbs makes a difference!
