  2. Ok so when I started I was 315lbs....I am now down to 198lbs with 28lbs to go till I make my goal and I am 5' 9". Some of my latest NSV's are.... Some of my old shoes fit again... Some of my old clothes from High School fit again... The bath towel goes all the way around me... My lab coat at work has gone from a 3X to a M... I can cross my legs so easily now... I can wear clothes in the juniors department... I can wear things from Victoria's Secret.... Goodbye Lane Bryant and Avenue..... Some of my struggles are..... Getting 70g of protein a day it is more like 50-60g... Drinking enough water... Dying for a coke from Mcdonalds... I cant' see the weight loss in myself/ mirror... (This is my big one) I still feel larger than everyone around me... Thanks for reading..... Amanda

    Nsv Of The Century!

What an awesome NSV! I'll have to pay more attention when I put my bra on. Its so much a habit...I hadn't really thought about it. LOL.
  6. Ok so my brothers wedding is in September and I am a bridesmaid ....I purchased a dress in size 20 back in December of last year....I waz sleeved on 2/21/12....so I had to exchange it for a smaller size...the girls at the bridal place wanted me to try on dresses to see where I am at. After hesitation I agreed to...guess what...I fit into a size 16!!! It zipped almost all the way up!!! So I ordered a 12...September is 6 months away!! Hehehe! Then I figured I would head over to lane bryant for a new bra....I was a 42 DDD.....they said I am now a size 36 DD!!!!!! Holy crap! No more shopping in the fat chick stores for bras!!! So I saved my 50 plus dollars I would have spent on bra and undies there and headed to walmart....I hot bra and underwear for $12!!! Today was a great day!!!
  7. OH YA!!! UH HUH!! OH YA!!! 17 day stall broken!!! I didn't do anything different than I had been doing since the beginning, and today the scale had moved AAAAANNNNDDDD I'm now in Two-WhateverLand!!!! I've been at 300 all this time, and lo and behold!! I'm at 296!! YES!!!! AAAAAAAAAAAAANNNNNDDDD...... I zipped and buttoned a pair of jeans that I haven't worn in years, and two weeks ago they did not fit. I got smaller during the stall, so have heart all you fellow stalled out people! Keep doing what you're doing and it will happen. Here's a couple pics from the beginning to now. 44 lbs later...Do you think there's a difference? (They stacked in the wrong order :/)

    How Is Everyone?

Just checking in with everyone to see how you all are? It's been hard consistently getting on here. I need to make it a priority because it keeps me accountable. What ups & downs has everyone experienced? What NSV's are super exciting? How is the family/friends support? Feel free to add any other topics! Just curious to see how we are all progressing! Mags
  11. Having stalls are very frustrating. At 5.5 months post op, the scale is moving slowly, by ozs. I have increased my calories which has helped by losing ozs. I'm also looking at being close to goal and yes the weight loss will be a little slower. On THE DOCTORS, they were talking about visceral fat being the easiest to loose. So that's probably where I am. Now it's time to get busy toning and stop making my lame accuses in my head to avoid exercise. LOL. We can do this, it just takes time. Yesterday, my hubby told me I need to stop with the weight loss. That's a really big NSV! I told him my body has pretty much stopped. I asked him if I look like I've lost any weight and he said yes. So my body is redistributing my weight. LOL Keep Rockin those Sleeves! There's no way you will not lose your weight! It might take some time, after all, we didn't put the weight on over night. I try to keep this in mind.

    Nsv Of The Century!

I almost feel stupid blogging about this, but had a revolation this morning! So when you are a fat chick, you can't just go to Victoria Secret for the latest and cutest bra selection. Me personally, I have found Lindathebralady.com to be the most comfortable, but they're not cheap. So as I've lost 41lbs the girls have been less than perky. I've been dreading paying another $54 for another bra. I know that's a good problem to have needing to buy new, skinnier clothes and bras, but 54 bucks is 54 bucks! Here's where the "I feel stupid" moment plays in. So I'm getting dressing this morning and like a profound moment of my entire life I realize, "duh, you don't have to use the last fasteners on the bra you big dork!" Being fat pretty much my whole adult life, I've ALWAYS had to use the last fasteners. I'm proud to say I'm on the first one! Not only is that exciting, but cheaper too! It's funny seeing things in a skinnier light! Woohoo!

YAY!! May you have many more SVs and NSVs
  17. I had a wonderful NSV!! I work at a high school, a coach that was here last year but went to another local school this year came by the school. I was in the faculty workroom signing out when he and another coach walked in. When he saw me his eyes bugged out.. and he said.. "Girl... how many rocks of Crack you smoking a day?" The other coach who I work with daily and knows about my surgery quickly said.. "at least 3 a day". I laughed and laughed... I have lost about 55 pounds since August. I had surgery in November but started dieting seriously in August. I still laugh when I think about it.. Rhonda
  18. This time 6 months ago I was waking up after my surgery in the ICU. After a moment on confusion and throwing up I started my road to recovery. Before surgery it scary and so hard to imagine what life would look like now, and now I dont know what I was scared of. The journey hasnt always been easy but it has been worth it. I spent alot of time working on myself, my relationship with food and with others. I still have a way to go to be where I want to be both in weight, the way I look and the way my life looks, but it all feels very achievable now. As far as stats go to to date I have lost 105 pounds, and about 5 pounds from my first major goal....i work in kilograms, so to be in double digits will be my first big celebration. From there I have another 60 pounds to go.I wear anything from a 20 to a 14 now depending on the make. It is hard to judge but have been splurging on some goal outfits as I go along....at times I have bought clothes that are already too big for *shrug* I still have some minor issues with reflux but control this with medication at the moment, still am hopeful I will get off these soon. I eat what I want, tho my body does crave healthier more nutrient rich food and am learning to control the binge urges more than I ever have. I have been working out intensely since 6 weeks out, now work out twice a day averaging 5 days a week. My fitness is getting better and better. There have been stalls and downs but I try take them with a grain of salt and keep working on the next goals, mix it up and keep moving forward. They can really do your head in if you let them. I had my follow up with my GP last week and he did not recognise me. I am getting alot of comments, positive feedback and endorsements of what is happening, alot of positive, some people have also decided to add their opinions about who I was before and how I ate without really knowing anything about what i have gone through and the mental changes I have had to make with the physical. Some highlights (NSV's if you like) from the last 6 months: - Being able to run for over 20 minutes straight and extending that - Fitting in and feeliing confident in my first little black dress - Not complaining and actually wanting my photo taken now - Last Friday night, being able to dance the night away in heels with only minimal pain after 7 hours - Walking the whole parade route (back and forth) while in New Orleans for Mardi Gras - No more extender belts on planes, feeling more comfy in those cattle class seats - Not sure if this related but feeling less stress in my life, being able to hand stressful situations better, think this is more to do with my mental health that i have been working on, before I was a major stresshead - Only taking pain killers twice since surgery, once because I drank way too much the night before, before I felt like I was always having some ache or pain - Feeling like I want to jump, dance on a regular basis Below are the before and todate pictures, the newest picture was from a work Ball I went to last Friday and we had our hair and make up done, I got so many comments and felt so good all night. I still have work to go and plan to keep on keeping on. At the end of the first year I am planning on taking a celebration road trip around the US...not celebrating with food.
  19. Have gone from a XX sweatshirt to size small, couldn't beleive it was mine when I just fold my laundry! Love NSV!

Five Weeks Post Op-Ready To Try Zumba Again

Nice NSV!! but you know you are dead wrong for having those from 10 years ago!! just kidding!
  21. Oh, what a difficulty! I love NSVs that really point out to us how much weight we've lost. You could just get the chains shortened, or wear them wrapped twice around your neck!
  22. So my pre-op and transition post-op clothes are finally all given away except for maybe a couple of pairs of jeans that are a little too big. Most of the too big shoes have left the building. I have new, smaller bracelets and I'm getting my favorite rings resized. But I finally realized yesterday what is wrong with my necklaces: my neck is skinnier and they now hang too low! Guess I'm going to have to buy a couple of shorter chains for my pendants too! Oh, my, the struggles of weight loss :-) Lynda
  23. Before surgery I was a Zumba addict. I would go four times a week, five if I could find the time. I did try about three weeks ago and I was so exhausted afterwards. So tomorrow I am going in with a different game face on and Itry it again. I also am thinking about trying the "hot" ypga. Seems like it should be fun. I keep wondering how long it will be before I will get my stamina back. I honestly did not expect to have this much down time with my exercise. NSV today- I pulled a pair of jeans out of the back of my closet that I have not been able to wear in almost ten years. LOL! Yes I kept a pair of jeans this long! It felt great to slide into them!

    Interesting Nsv

I 1st noticed that problem when I tried ot take a long trip. Previously from loosing weiht, I could ride hours without getting a sore bumm. Now, even after a few minutes, I find I need to shift to get comortable, and have to have a pad under my bumm and back to ride longer than an hour or so. Congrats on your "interesting"NSV!
  25. Hopeful...those are some great NSV's and ANY weight loss is still a loss...so be proud of that fact.
