    Me Then... ME NOW!

Oh yeah did you guys notice.... my fats ugly ass double chin is gone!!!!!! BEST NSV EVER!!!!
  3. Today I went to the mall, which I tend to not do very often because it is SO much easier to just order things online, however I don't fit into some of my size 4's and 6's any more and I needed at least one new pair of dress pants and a new pair of jeans. So, I went into banana Republic, where a size 2 petite was just a smidge loose on me (YAY!). Then I went into Express, where I could really do some damage to my credit card, and the size 2 dress pants I have been ogling online actually fit perfectly (DOUBLE YAY!). Sadly enough I couldn't find a dress jacket because my arms and shoulders fit into the 2, except the button wouldn't close until I tried on the 8, which was then too big everywhere else (thank-you boobs). Yes, woe is me, I'd have been grateful to be in an 8 2 years ago when I couldn't even shop in that store. The best part of my day though was in American Eagle, where yes I am probably too old to still be wearing their jeans, I tried on a size 0, just for kicks and giggles, and holy cow it fit!!! (TRIPLE YAY) In my entire life I have never fit into a size 0 and I am beyond ecstatic. I seriously almost danced around the dressing room. So...thank-you to whoever came up with the brilliant idea to cut out 80% of our stomachs. Much as I have days where I don't feel like I look that great or I see my plastic surgery scars and feel ashamed....today is not one of those days. Days like today make all the misery of the sleeve surgery and the plastics recovery and the frequent puking my stomach causes so completely worth it. Thanks for listening, y'all.

LapBand vs. Bypass & weight loss

Oh, I know we want instant success. However, comparing the 2 surgeries is like comparing apples to oranges. Our lap band slows the amount of weight loss, for me that is healthier. It didn't come on over night. You can also expect less sagging from the loss. Your skin will have time to catch up with the loss. For so many reasons I chose the band because I wanted a slower loss, you have to weigh the reasons. Remember this is not a competition or a race. It is a journey. Some take a race car, and some will take a horse. We will all meet at the end! Good luck and try to realize the NSVs along the way and try not to focus so much on the scale numbers...

    Non scale Victory!

oooooh...i remember the first time the "regular" blood pressure cuff was used on me. I was doing internal self-fives. Congrats! There will be many more awesome NSV's to come!

    7 month Post Op!!

I know I’m almost a week late! But I’m officially 7 months post op! Yay! I went on a cruise last week (November 6-13th) to San Juan, Puerto Rico, St. Thomas, and the Grand Turk. I managed to NOT gain any weight while I indulged in EVERY thing that looked delicious; though I wish I had worked out more than just two days while on this trip, I probably would’ve lost more weight… At my last check up with Dr DiCicco, I weighed 253lb, I think… well I’m down to 241lb, so I lost 12. He was upset last time that I had lost so little, but he was pleased with my progress; I’m basically 50lbs down and that’s halfway in his mind, so I’m on track! He was especially happy I managed to still lose weight while on a cruise. Like I said before I was doing a no carb/low carb diet… and I completely forgot what carbs were on this cruise. Of course I had plenty of empty calories as well with the alcoholic drinks and what not, but they served bread/dinner rolls EVERY day… and I indulged cause I LOVE my bread and butter, but towards the 4th day I had to start telling them no, because I was afraid it was going to RUIN me, LoL! I didn’t get a fill, as I still feel I have restriction, though I also feel I’m able to eat a little more than I could when I first started out with the 6.3cc; I’m thinking I’ll probably get a fill come next month; it should be a little looser by then. But I’m currently in a good spot at the moment. I had no PBs or stuck episodes while on my trip, which was a blessing! So we’ll see how things are looking come December. I don’t really have any NSVs this time around. I wasn’t down to the weight that I wanted to be come November (220lbs), but October’s NSVs made up for that. This month though I’m kinda upset. I’ve been tossing clothes out left and right because they don’t fit anymore. A lot of tops that I had to buy large because of my then extra large boobies look like they’re swallowing me now. Just recently I had to attend a funeral and I had a black suit that I had worn before but couldn’t even button the jacket (so I wore a nice blouse underneath). I put it on for this funeral at the end of October, and what do you know I can button the jacket and it looks ridiculously big on me, so I had to toss it!... I ended up wearing a dress that had been given to me by a friend (18/20); thank goodness for that. So, while on my cruise they have a Captain’s Ball, where everyone dresses up really nice (ball gowns and tuxes) … so I wore this pink strapless dress that I hadn’t worn since either 2008 or 2009, I can’t remember…. But long story short… I was pretty sure that when I tried the dress on prior to going on my cruise that it fit… it was loose but it fit. Well, I get on the cruise … it’s Ball night and I get my make up done and I pull the dress on, no girdle or nothing and it’s super loose! My strapless bra is showing in the back and I cant fill out the boob area anymore… I was so disgusted and upset. Mind you I got plenty of compliments because it’s a pretty dress. But I had to rig it and I wasn’t happy about that. I had to pinch one side under my arms to tighten it a little. And I also had to pin the front of the dress to my bra so the dress wouldn’t fall down. Again everyone thought I was flipping out for no reason because the dress came with a shawl and no one could see how I had pinned everything together, but I just wanted something to FIT! Everything is either too loose or still just a little too tight. But I won’t complain… I’ll take this as a blessing! At least its not like I brought a dress and it needed to be taken OUT in order for me to wear it!... Trying to look on the bright side of things! Even my bathing suit bottoms were kind of loose. Mind you it’s a maternity two piece swim suit… the top still fits pretty good, especially in the boob area, but the bottoms are getting loose…. Does that mean I’m LOSING my caboose?! J Anyway, I guess I thought of two NSVs… for Halloween, I was a “Modern Vampire” … meaning I put on regular clothes and bought some fake teeth and popped them in m mouth… it was fun… well, anyway, I wanted to be a sexy vampire of course, so I had my boobs out and drizzled with blood, and I had on some ripped fishnet stockings and heels and …. Drum roll please….. my sister gave me an old jean skirt size 16! Mind you it’s NOT a stretch jean material, so I was amazed when I could button it and everything. Again I say, it’s still tight, and I wouldn’t wear it out just yet, but it was Halloween, so it’s okay to look a little out of place… J Next, NSV is kinda of stupid I guess but I’m really weird about wearing my arms out… I NEVER under ANY circumstances wear my arms out unless I have something to cover them with… a shawl, a small jacket, sweater, half jacket; anything BUT bare! So while on my cruise, the last day, we docked in the Grand Turks right on the beach… so I wore my bathing suit and a really pretty sun dress of course it was sleeveless otherwise there wouldn’t be a point to this story! LoL! Anyway of course I wasn’t gonna wear a sweater on the beach, so I proudly stepped off the boat with my arms BARE! I even took a picture and to my surprise I didn’t throw the picture aside like I normally would because to me my arms just look fat and disgusting and if I don’t like how my arms look then I don’t like the picture… but this one… I liked and I was surprised at myself… for being more confident! Which brings me to my last paragraph I promise! LoL! I feel like I’ve gained confidence with my weight loss. Granted I’m still disgusted by the loose skin and flab hanging, but in clothes I can really see a difference and I see my self being more outgoing. For instance on the boat there was a 70s Dance Class…it was just for fun, but normally I wouldn’t have participated because I would’ve been thinking about how I looked dancing around like a fool, but I just let loose and I had a good time. And NEVER would I wear a bathing suit in public without shorts or a shirt on, well, while on this cruise I wore my bathing suit without a shirt or shorts while on the ship and off… I even laid out and tanned a little bit… LoL! I wish my weight loss was where I wanted it to be, but it seems I’m right on target… Losing weight…Dropping sizes.. And building up my self confidence! I’m IN LOVE with my BAND!
  7. We have a friend visiting and he's very intrigued by our tiny portion sizes. He just can't get over it. Unfortunately the poor man is also probably starving. We think we're making him a huge portion--and compared to our food we are--but I suspect it is not nearly enough. After lunch yesterday, I offered to make him a peanut butter sandwich, and he didn't say no. Oops. Funny how quickly we forget what a normal portion size looks like. I mean, we've all eaten normal-to-large portion sizes all our lives! I'm very encouraged to see that even as early as 7 weeks post-op, we're now clueless as to what a normal portion size for an unsleeved person looks like. I can however, cast a critical eye over my husband's plate and know that he's put more than 4 oz on his plate, that he won't finish it, that he will be uncomfortable afterwards and will complain My own two ounce portion is getting equally easy to judge. For all those wondering if you'll be able to reduce your eating, I hope this is encouraging to see how quickly our bodies, minds, and eyes adapt to our new reality. Our new reality now is what our sleeve holds. I still measure and weigh every meal, but I'm learning fast. Love my sleeve. <3
  8. I just thought this would be fun! If you are pre-op what are some NSVs (non scale victory) you want? If you are post-op what were some NSVs you wanted and did you achieve it? This might sound weird but the one nsv I want, probably more than any, is to be able to fit into Victoria Secret bras and clothes!!!

    favorite NSV's/most anticipated NSV's

My biggest NSV is feeling comfortable. It is easier to do pretty much anything, but the thing that makes me the happiest is being close to my husband. At over 400 lbs, the last thing I wanted to do was snuggle, because I felt smothered by my own body. Now we can get much closer, and it's great!
  10. Awesome!!! Congratulations!! A wonderful NSV!!!

    Best One-Year Anniversary NSV

That's great lessnless! I can't wait until I'm even 150lbs. It's been really slow going for me. However, I do have a NSV too. My work does an Employee Appreciation Day for us at Lake Compounce Amusement Park. I went last month with one of my co-workers who had the gastric bypass 2 weeks after I had my lapband just over a year ago. Anyway, when we went before our surgeries last year to the park we couldn't fit on any of the rides except for the Ferris Wheel. In which we were afraid of exceeding the weight limit with the two of us plus 3 girls under the age of 12. Well, this year we were sooooo excited like a couple of kids because we were in fact smaller than last year. The true test was the flying swings. We got in line and waited to get on. The gate opens and we go running in (yes, I said running) with the rest of them and picked out our seats. WE FIT!!!!!! :thumbup:Not loosely, mind you but we weren't stuffed sausages if you know what I mean. So I guess even if the scale isn't moving the inches still are. It would just be nice to see the scale move too.

    feeling discouraged

22 pounds in a month is great! Plus you lost so much pre-op! I think I lost only 15 pounds in the first month and it continues to come off day by day. I have a NSV/ SV to share: I went to see my primary care physician on Friday for a physical. When the nurse was entering my stats into the computer, a big error box popped up saying that it was like a 30% change so she needed to reenter my weight. Hee hee what she'd entered was right. We lose weight so fast that even computers get confused! Hang in threre!

    NSV WEDNESDAY?

First off congratulations on the NSV...this is just the start for you and it will just keep getting better...I too have had that NSV but now I have a different issue...you see I bought my car before my surgery and was much bigger....I pretty much bought the car that I could fit in and now I am having problems because the car is getting too big for me...but not complaining
  15. Okay my weight loss has been on the slow side lately. So figured I'd go shopping. Low and behold I tried on some jeans and went back and got a smaller size. A size 14 and they weren't even tight in the butt or legs.(The waist was snug)BUT A 14 YEAH!!! I ususally shop in the womens size and was able to get into misses size. That was such a big high for me. The last 20 years has always been in the big womens dept. What a change. This was a BIG non scale victory for me.:cursing::wink2:

    What is your height?

Hi Carlene, My weight gain came during the pregnancy of my first child. I gained 50+ with my first, 30 with my second and 20 with my third. In between the pregnancies I gained and lost. Unfortunately, I gained more than I lost. I think being under 130 is fantastic. I would be thrilled to be there. It is people like you who give those of us just starting the journey hope that we can succeed. As far as PS, if I am financially able to get a TT, breast lift down the road than I will. These are the 2 things I definitely think I will need to be comfortable with myself. I know I will never had that pre-pregnancy body. I can live with that. I will be happy just to feel better and fit into my clothes. My NSV is to be able to tuck my shirt into my pants without my stomach hanging out.

    May 06 Bandsters~April Chat!

Kim ~ LOVE your pic....you are beautiful!! You are going to be in onederland b4 you know it. It's funny how 9 lbs can seem so small and yet so big at the same time. You'll get there!! Neal ~ We ended up in the Yukon/Mustang area. Edmond was too much of a drive for work considering the traffic. We love the easy access to OKC and the small town feel you get in Yukon. I have to say we are really impressed with the down-home feel and the friendly people that don't even know you from Adam. I swear the guy from the drive-thru at Starbucks chatted for 5 mins. We are going to love it. The moving company comes next week for the estimate then we will schedule the move within the next couple of weeks. Lapbandit ~ Super NSV on the new clothes!! Great time of year to go shopping too. Amy ~ Have fun shopping. Does you DH get a new suit? Hey Myra ~ How's the wagon ride.....are you back on yet? I hear you on the junk food. It seems to go down way too smooth. 3Loves told her surgeon he forgot the band on her brain. Food can really mess with that tummy/brain connection!! Give us an update on how your doing.

    Wahooo! First NSV!!

I wasnt prepared for how amazing this would make me feel!! I got in the bath and i felt like something was different.. i realised that my hips no longer reach the sides! I am no longer a human dam stopping all up all the water! After i sprung outta the bath i THEN realised that my towel actually fits all the way round my body instead of either my bum or my boob poking out!! Theni got dressed and i critically examined myself and you know what.. i CAN see a difference! I have got a little slimmer! Obviously its early days but to finally see some kinda results.. There are no words to describe how excited i felt! sorry for rambling but just wanted to share! Best wishes

    NSV and my boss

Well, my higher boss hasn't really seen me in about a month. He saw me today and told me I need to stop losing weight because he has to squint now to see me. He said he was looking for me the other day and said he must have missed me because who he was looking for was someone that didn't even resemble who I am now. He said it's a good thing I talk a lot or he'd never know I was around. Ha! Because I know him so well, I took it as a compliment that he intended it to be.
  24. scale sudoku BP Getting rid of stuff that I don't need (clothes too - NSV).Anything that just add clutter (books, VHS tapes, knick knacks, extra bedding, extra plates/pots/pans). Its like extreme spring cleaning - simplifying my house - is my excuse!
