    Can see my

And I am cheering you and all my other Bari- mates, we are starting 2019 in better, healthier state than we were just a year ago . Hurray for each of US.
  2. Okay this one really goes out to those veteran sleevers. So, I am 13 months out now. I have lost pretty much all I could safely lose (a lot of people think ive gotten too thin) I'm getting to the point of becoming UNDER weight (which is hilarious frankly...ive never been thin in my life...literally). That's really the problem. I have started training for this 1/2 marathon and the running is making me lose weight to a point that is making me nervous. I am already wearing a SMALL right now...i just dont know what to do. No one really seems to understand--people say stupid stuff like "just eat more"....as though I could even if I wanted to?? I mean dont get me wrong I eat 3 or 4 meals a day...and I do eat very healthy meals...but i just dont know how to replace those calories I burned of running safely. My mother says shit like "go eat a grilled cheese"...which makes me crazy! My trainer says go drink weight gain powder...which goes against all logic in my book. My surgeon said (btw Im a 6'0 man) I dont want you to get into the 160s...if you do call the office. well that was 3 weeks ago...i weighed 173 then...NOW in just 3 weeks i lost 10 lbs. I'm losing my mind here. and frankly, am getting a little scared...i dont know how to make it stop. But, at the same time I WANT to do this race...for me...because ive never been able to run more than a few feet in my life without being out of breath. What do yall do?? please help me.
  3. Hi I have had the VST surgery Feb17th and today is my 10 week postop. I started off at 329lbs and as of today I am at 263lbs. But here is what I have noticed. Post op before I went back to work I was losing a pound a day average and sometimes 2. The first day I went back to work everything stopped moving for about 10 days. Why? I thought about this and here is what I came up with. Stress, Water retention, change of environment, and sleep patterns are different. At work is a more controlled environment with high levels of stress. So I started watching for patterns. My diets the same everyday 60-90g Protein, 25-60g carbs, >25g fats. This is clockwork so this isnt the problem. After 10 days the weight started coming off again but now its at a pound every 2-3 days and it stayed this way until I went home. Upon arrival at my home I weighed myself and marked it. Then for 7 straight days there was no loss at all. Then all of a sudden 3 lbs fell off after a nights sleep. I continued to lose a pound every day or two. Before I left to come back to work I noted my weight again. This time it was 269.2. Ok once I get back on my vessel the next morning I lost 2pounds. From that point on there was nothing for another 10 days. After the 10 days I suspect my body adjusts to the changing environment and I lose the water retention, stress calms down and my sleep pattern adjusts to the 12 hour pattern. 12 hours on a boat is actually 8 hours on and off. But to conclude since the 10th day I have lost .5/day bringing me to 263 as of today. So inretrospect I can assume that stress interrupts fat loss.
  4. That's terrible. Where do you live??? I'm in my early 40's now. In my early 30's I lost 150+ pounds through diet and exercise. I thought I was bullet proof and my issues with food were solved. I was cured. WRONG. Over the next 10 years I put back on 110 pounds. Now I know I'll never be 'cured' of my issues with food. It'll be something I'll need to manage, always. But I learn from my mistakes and move on. When I lose the weight this time, I won't make the same mistakes again. Learn from today and move on. You're in a better position now because you know there's still emotional eating issues there. Now that you're aware you can manage that next time you feel under stress. Cheers, Deano

First Official Fill and not doing good!

To make a long story short 252 lbs at the time of surgery on 9/24/09. First fill scheduled for 11/17 but found that port had flipped. Revision on 1/14/10. My current weight is 218 and I had my first fill on 3/1/10. I have been on liquids since. but barely.. they tried 2cc but it was too tight and took someout so I believe that I have a bit of 1 cc.. and the liquid is so hard to go down.. I am going to try to go on mushies for dinner tonight because I am so starving!! does anyone have any suggestions? Also the protein was too dense to go down as well.

  7. You need a fill. That will get you back on track. Don't worry too much about being overfilled. You will know when it is time to stop. You can take that 10-15 lbs off in no time. Good luck.

  10. I had my gastric bypass Dec. 10th. I have been doing fine I have been getting 60oz of fluids down and 30mg of protein every day, Well today I started worrying that I am doing something wrong. My weight loss has been slow 12.5 pounds since surgery. How much protein was everybody else doing 10 days out. Its hard to get down 3 oz at a setting. I don't want to mess myself up.

    1 Extreme To The Other

I'm post-op, and about 5 weeks out, but I've really started having some carb cravings like none other!! I bought a book called "50 ways to soothe yourself without food". I'm only about half way through it right now, but it's super easy to read and very calming! So far they've covered meditation and breathing exercises. It's recognizing what triggers the craving and taking steps to avoid giving in or prevent the situation all together, AND if you do give in, making sure you don't beat yourself up over it. That can really make things worse when you're carrying around more guilt, don't we all know how that goes? I highly recommend the book... one of the breathing exercises - basically just breathing in deep through your nose, holding for a second and breathing out through your nose helps me to calm down and assess the situation from a rational point of view. Also, telling myself, I can have ____ in 10 minutes if I still really want it helps so much, too, because I can often calm down by then and then I don't even give in! As for not wanting anything Protein anymore, maybe try fish or hamburger? I've burned out on lunchmeat, but I'm really enjoying tuna or a burger patty with ketchup I know ketchup has carbs, but it's not a lot. And sometimes, I plan out a carb-tastic meal and eat it, and enjoy it, and then get back on track for dinner. I try not to let one "bad" meal blow my whole day. Best of luck to you!!
  12. I can go 10-15 days unless I am on top of things with fiber supplements, Mirilax, Colase, Milk of magnesia (blech) when needed. My husband and I joke about when it is "poop day" lol - he has the same issues after his own vsg as well.
  13. Just wanted to share something I found while at my local Wal Mart Supercenter in the grocery section. They are called Grilled Essentials. Low calorie and low in fat. I absolutely love how easy these are to prepare! Just pop them in the microwave for 60 seconds and walla! They are fantastic. Flavorful and absolutely delicious. Garlic & Herb chicken Breast: Calories 120 per breast, 1.5 grams of fat, 19 grams of Protein Grilled Chicken Breast: Calories 120 per breast, 2 grams of fat, 19 grams of protein Lemon Pepper Chicken Breast: Calories 120 per breast, 2 grams of fat, 19 grams of protein Italian Style Chicken Breast: Calories 120 per breast, 1.5 grams of fat, 19 grams of protein I am in no way affiliated with Hillshire Farm or Wal Mart. I'm just a banded individual that thinks she found something super awesome and wanted to share with her banded friends.
  14. True enough. I hope the weather does change. I mean I live in Kansas and you know they always say if you don't like the weather in Kansas, just wait 5 minutes...it'll change! Fingers and toes crossed. My plane isn't scheduled to leave until 11:10, so surely they will have things cleared and running then. Just another thing...but it's ok...I'm gonna get thru it!

    Sleeved on the 17

I understand your pain! I was sleeved on the 20th. I wasn't expecting to be in so much pain. I've had a c-section and a hysterectomy, but the sleeve hurt the worse. When I awoke from surgery, they asked me my pain level and I replied 10! And then I was so nauseated, I couldn't tolerate liquids and had to stay an extra day in the hospital. It was rough. I'm on day 3 now and reading these boards helps me because I know I'm not alone

    Increased Bo?

Yes...I'm more musky by the end of the day. It must be all the protein. Maybe the isolated whey kind. Post/op 10-30-12.
  18. Hey guys, I have upped my Water consumption to 10 glasses a day. I started 2 days ago and I have gained 5lbs. Now, I assume, hope, pray, that this is just the extra water and it will slowly go away, taking lots of extra fat with it. I know I need a fill, but I am still counting/logging EVERYTHING that goes in my mouth into DailyPlate. I am keeping around 1000 - 1100 calories a day. Pre-band, I was consuming 3500+ a day. Now, with that being said, I have not started exercising (bonking myself on the forehead), but I feel that I should be loosing more. Hell, every diet I have been on has been more successful than this! -note to self, short term success, remember that- I had lost 15lbs (since 2/19), now it is only 10. The odd thing, I feel that I am eating super healthy, my calories are maintaining well. Ugh!

    Water and Calories Question

Hi Minpin. I love the dailyplate too and log my stuff there and it is a help. The weight can be water, but also be careful eating too little calories. It took a while for my nutritionist to convince me 1200 was too little. She said if you eat too little the body freaks out and will store the fat and cause you to gain. I agree, since the band, this is the slowest weight loss and I am doing it extremely well. She also said to have 3 servings of dairy a day and to up my calories to 1400, especially since I am exercising. I followed her instructions and did see a steady drop. What I do now is I may eat 1200 one day, 1400 the next and maybe 1100 the next. Shake it up a little so body doesn't go into starve mode. But your post reminded of me because this is the first time I am sticking to the calories and plan, and the weight loss is slow. I had surgery 10/11 and lost only 32 but I am not gaining so I wont complain. Usually I would have given up by now, so all is good. Good luck and wish you well

    10 months and counting!

It's now been 10 months since my RNY gastric bypass surgery. Zero complications, zero struggles and a lot of weight gone! I started out at 306 and as of this morning I am 176! WOW!! I am 5'9 so that puts me just 11 pound short of goal. If anyone has any questions regarding RNY surgery just ask. Its not as scary as you've been led to believe.
  21. I was banded on 10/17, I'm having pain/tightness in my upper back, shoulders,& neck. I'm also having a lot of burping/more like air pockets that i can feel rising up its can be pretty painful. I did clear liquid for 3 days & have now added protein shakes to it also, all together I only drink about 3-4 cups of liquid a day I have taken mylanta for the gas but maybe I should switch to gas x. any help will be greatly appreciated.
  22. What and how much are you eating now? I'm in the middle of the puree stage and I have no idea if I'm under/overeating. Today I had a greek yogurt for Breakfast, an 8oz Protein shake with PB powder for lunch, and maybe 4oz of a refried bean/cheese/milk/cottage cheese concoction my husband whizzed together for me in the food processor. I just had a frozen greek yogurt pop for dessert. Are you in a similar place?

    Just starting the journey

my seminar was end of sept. and my surgery is Nov 23rd. no ins. diet requirements... and i had to get clearance from cardiologist, endocrinologist, psychologist, nutritionist.. and needed an endoscopy. i have pre-surgery testing on 11/12 by the hospital and PCP clearance on 11/19... so there are a lot of steps... but i rather all of that then nothing to be sure i won't have complications.. good luck.

  25. I am pretty new to this forum. I've been doing a lot of reading but this is my first post! My surgery was tentatively scheduled for 3/23/10, but my insurance authorization came back very fast (like 8 days) so I got anxious about doing it sooner. Talked to my surgeons office this morning and it's scheduled for Friday 2/5! I am so ready and so excited. Like others on this site, I went to the dr and told him I wanted the Lap Band. He went through everything about the band, but also went into the sleeve and told me a lot of people are now choosing the sleeve, but left it totally up to me without trying to influence me either way. I found this site and made my decision within 2 days. Looking forward to updating with many good posts in the weeks to come!
