  2. The bra is a different color, but the exact same (when I find one that fits comfortably I buy them all). They did liposuction on my sides as well, so it may be the swelling that is making the bra look tighter. I am still a little disappointed I couldn’t do the fat transfer, but there are positive things about being flat chested even when I was overweight. Less sag, no under boob sweat, less weight to lift while doing a plank. Yes, I could pay for implants, but for me, I think my body would fight a foreign object. It did a good job of forming a cyst around the bone bone fragment in my knee. I was able to function with it in there, only had it removed because it hurt when i bumped into things (and looked horrible). But if that never happened, I would never have met the plastic surgery people. Also, if I was going to pay for something I would do my under eye bags. I’ll probably never do it though, because there is no hiding your face if something goes wrong. I know a woman of Greek decent who had hers done and she looks Chinese now...not good... I didn’t respond right away because I wasn’t feeling well, took me a day and a half to figure out I was wearing my abdominal binder to tight. Feeling much better now. My doctors prescribed stool softener with seniside (laxative) for after surgery. It is basically collace with the same stuff that is in smooth move tea. I can’t imagine 19 days!!! Also, I wonder why the left side swells more, is it a heart thing? Just curious my swelling is getting better as well. I still think the arm thing looks more painful. The pics are amazing! You look awesome! When you feel better clothes shopping is going to be more fun!

    Workout shoes/sneakers

    Stability shoes work best for me. I invest in my shoes but I don't go crazy with price. Asics, Brooks, Hoka one one. I can find sales at REI, dicks sporting goods or amazon. Types of Running Shoes Neutral shoes: They can work for mild pronators, but are best for neutral runners or people who supinate (tent to roll outward). These shoes provide some shock absorption and some medial (arch-side) support. Some super-cushioned shoes provide as much as 50% more cushioning than traditional shoes for even greater shock absorption. Stability shoes: Good for runners who exhibit mild to moderate overpronation. They often include a firm "post” to reinforce the arch side of each midsole, an area highly impacted by overpronation. Motion control shoes: Best for runners who exhibit moderate to severe overpronation, they offer features such as stiffer heels or a design built on straighter lasts to counter overpronation. Barefoot shoes: Soles provide the bare minimum in protection from potential hazards on the ground. Many have no cushion in the heel pad and a very thin layer—as little as 3–4mm—of shoe between your skin and the ground. All barefoot shoes feature a “zero drop” from heel to toe. (“Drop” is the difference between the height of the heel and the height of the toe.) This encourages a mid-foot or forefoot strike. Traditional running shoes, by contrast, feature a 10–12mm drop from the heel to the toe and offer more heel cushioning. Minimalist shoes: These feature extremely lightweight construction, little to no arch support and a heel drop of about 4–8mm to encourage a natural running motion and a midfoot strike, yet still offer cushioning and flex. Some minimalist styles may offer stability posting to help the overpronating runner transition to a barefoot running motion. Minimalist shoes should last you roughly 300 to 400 miles.

    Daily Menus for Maintenance

    So before a long bike ride or some serious hiking, I will have a bowl of hot mixed grain cereal (oats, quinoa, teff, amaranth, buckwheat is my fav combo) about an hour before. I usually add some sliced banana and raisins to the bowl, along with pea protein milk. This has some good carbs as well as protein. It seems to absorb well (doesn't sit around like a rock in my stomach) and gives some good fuel power for several hours. This is the only time I eat a high carb breakfast because I know the glucose is going right to the muscles. I also have a hydration drink with electrolytes and protein bars (1/3 - 1/2 bar every 10 miles of bike ride or every hour of hike.) I always hydrate well before the workout - at least 2 cups of herbal tea first thing in the morning. I drink about a liter every 10 miles of biking or 1 hr of hiking (more in hot weather.) I always finish feeling quite well, without thirst or salt craving. But it has taken a while for me to work out this routine. For basic exercise routine or a less strenuous walk/bike ride, I go on an empty tank. This can really rev up the fat burn and autophagy during a fasting state. But lots of water along.

  6. Everyone will lose weight at a different rate depending on a slew of issues age, sex, health, dna etc. you're doing fantastic. My surgery was 10/15 and I'm down 36lbs. Seems small to me but that's 36lbs in 10 weeks! You are just at 8 weeks that's amazing. Take in every success, last year I would have been up in weight from the holidays. I celebrate the loss!

    How is getting sick different now?

    I have a virus right now and while I haven’t vomited, I am snotty and headcoldy and miserable, and the big difference pre and post VSG for me? Liquid intake. I used to be able to drink three pints of water and then pass out with tissues stuck up my nostrils and the humidifier going full blast. I’d wake up 10-18 hours later mightily improved. But now I just can’t get that sheer amount of liquid in. So I wake up and then have to stay up for an hour slowly packing a pint of water in, and of course I fully awake during that time, and then my throat hurts and my mind races and I can’t get back to sleep no matter how much I want to. honestly that’s the only thing I can think of as a drawback. I don’t think I’ve vomited yet, or if I did it was so minor it barely qualified. Diarrhea is more common now, but usually directly related to coffee intake or something, and a one-and-done event.
  9. Si, on Nov 1, 2019 i changed my life by having the sleeve. Since then i am down 32 pounds. As happy as i am about 32 pounds,i feel that it should be more than that. Is this a normal weight loss or should it be more?

    December Surgery dates???

    Hello All! 10 days post op, and feeling better and better each day. Nausea and pain are minimal, and fatigue is improving. I could still go for a nap this afternoon though! When I go up the stairs, my legs feel so heavy, and I'm easily worn out. Guess I'm still somewhat weak from the surgery and lack of calories. Sent my husband to the supermarket to get some Triple Zero greek yogurt, as I need a little something new to break up the monotony of thick liquids! Looking forward to trying it! Hope everyone is having a great weekend! Been a little quiet in here, and I'm guessing many recent post-ops are still having some pain/nausea and are too fatigued to post. Hang in there, as it will get better soon!!!
  11. I weigh in nekkid every morning because i titrate blood pressure/ Heart failure meds bases on small weight fluctuations 1.5 to 3 lbs. I have gone from a daily dose to once every 7-10 days.

    Non Scale Victories

    Thursday, I went in y daughter’s room and found a pair of jeans that I could wear (she’s 19 and has been smaller than me!) and my friend said they were still a little baggy!! #winning

    What if it doesn't work?

    I have yo-yoed my whole life since my mother put me on amphetamines when I was 12. I even got a lap band over 10 years ago and it was great--until it wasn't (slippage, hiatal hernia development). Then I got an RNY a bit over a month ago and lost 20 pounds in the first three weeks! It's not a magic bullet, and you will not get to your goal without some work, but you WILL lose weight. And you have lots of good resources here to help you with your journey. Like the little sidebar says, people on this forum have collectively lost over 5 million pounds!

    Daily Menus for Maintenance

    * Begin Nerd Alert * Moving averages basically smooths out the fluctuations of data points in a graph, where in our case the "data points" are the daily weigh ins. For instance, I use a 10 -day moving average. Each day's weekly weigh-in is averaged out with the last 10 days' entries to give me an average. So if I am 115 lbs for 9 days and then on the 10th day i go up to 120lbs, instead of accepting this outlier number of 120 lbs as my weight, I would use 115.5 lbs ( ( 115 * 9 days ) + ( 120 * 1 day ) ) / 10 days = 115.5 Now if I continue to stay at 120 lbs over time, then this is reflected in my moving average as it hangs around. Heres the calc if I am at 115 lbs for 5 days and then be at 120 lbs for the next 5 days: ( (115 * 5 days ) + ( 120 * 5 days ) ) / 10 days = 117.5 Only if I stay at 120 lbs for 10 days then do I theoretically accept my weight at 120 lbs: ( 120 * 10 days ) / 10 days = 120.0 By using a moving average, the daily fluctuations are evened out and gives you a little bit of perspective and hopefully alleviate some stress/anxiety from focusing on a number likely attributed to water weight or poop retention/release on any given day. P.S. As I progressed into maintenance, I increased the divisor (number of days to include in the average) as my daily fluctuations now are much more varied than it was during weight loss mode. * End Nerd Alert * - hopefully you stayed awake long enough to read this last line, LOL ❤️

    Post op hungers

    Surgery was 12/16/19 I have been on liquid diet 2 weeks prior to date as well. Protein shakes and water been maintaining along with some broth has been holding me up. Lately been craving for some other healthy ideas I have had no troubles as far as holding things down and complications from surgery. So far I am down 31 lbs I started this journey at 408.7 yesterday I checked in at 377.2 so I am staying focused just thought I would reach out to others for some ideas thank you

    Non Scale Victories

    My sister gave me a structured dress for Christmas that’s a size 10 in a non-flexible fabric. It’s one that goes right up to my neck and has long sleeves. I took it out of the bag and thanked her, all the while thinking there’s no way this will fit. Well, it does. PERFECTLY. I’m kind of boggled. I also went on a two-week business trip with only carry-on luggage. I’ve been able to do this for vacations before, but never for a business trip. My clothes are smaller, I pack far fewer sweaters, and everything is interchangeable as long as I pack carefully - this used not to be achievable, since Slacks 1 only looked good with Sweater 3, and Skirt 1 could only be worn with Top 1... both my problem areas and the weird quirks of plus sized tailoring really made mixing and matching difficult. Now I can pack a pair of black jeans, and because they’re pretty high-end and I’m not overweight anymore, they just look great when paired with a sleek top and jewelry.
  19. Hello, I had gastric bypass in October 2019, it’s now December 2019. I had labs recently and my potassium was low. I am exhausted. I work, exercise take my vitamins, Eat properly, 2 protein drinks a day yuck! But I do it. When I get home from work I’m in the bed. No energy what so ever. I walked at least 15, 000 steps or more a day. I have a job that requires me to walk, I’m loosing weight but I’m exhausted! HELP!

    Weight loss

    We are surgery twins! Also had surgery 11/15/19..I have hit a couple plateaus along the way but I’m still continuing to lose, just maybe not as fast as I thought I would. I lost 22 lbs in the first month after surgery but that has slowed down since then. My surgeon says I should expect to lose about 10 lbs a month from now on...just hang in there! And keep following the plan

    Think if you are losing 10 lbs a month, that's a 100 lbs in 10 months and a 120 lbs in 12 months. Your skin should be in great shape with the elasticity and snap back in shape due to the gradual loss. Stay hydrated, exercise,, get some collagen and protein. I think you are of the fortunate group.
  22. Well everyone i'm here to tell you this surgery works wonders. I was 377 pounds in December 2018. It's now the end of Dec of 2019 and i'm 175 pounds and healthy. I ate nothing but low carb protein food 5 times a day for the last year and 3 weeks. All i did was walk on a treadmill 4 times a week for a mile a day. I never cheated on my hardcore diet. I've only puked 7 times or so by eating too much since surgery in the last year. As we all do, i had to learn the hard way sometimes. I couldn't be happier and I have hit my goal weight. I am here to tell you if you follow the doctors orders it works. Having said that i did go against doctors orders shortly after getting home. I was starving (or so i thought) and ate meat from the first week on. Probably not a good idea. I could only get down 3 bites. I had this grand plan to portion out food and bag it up and freeze it so i could heat it up.... it all went in the garbage. First day after surgery i could only have 3 sips of water. Stomach made weird sounds and such. I highly suggest everyone takes off work 2 weeks afterwords. I went back to work with in 10 days and i was a mess. I was dizzy every single time i stood up for about a month or two. Your body will adjust and you have to do the hard work on the treadmill. My back was killing me before surgery. I could hardly stand up to order at least a pound of food per meal. It goes away.... you have to do the hard work and work though the pain. Walk a mile on the treadmill at 0230 in the morning when no one else is there like I did. It's a struggle but it pays off in the end. Work hard and listen to your doc's. I wish you all the best. Starting weight 377 pounds Now: 175 pounds Waist starting: 50 inches Now: 30 inches Shirt size starting: 5XL Now: M to L BMI starting: 50 BMI now: 23

    Cold

    I am 10 months out and at goal with a BMI of 23. I am freezing all the time. I actually enjoyed the past summer, which is unheard of for me, and I used to enjoy winter so much, but now it is pretty awful. I wear extra layers of clothes everywhere. The only time I am not chilled is when I am exercising. I hate going to bed cold, so I do 30 minutes on my elliptical an hour before bed and then I actually feel warm and comfortable. At work, we really hustle, and while my coworkers are feeling warm all the time, I am wearing an additional scrub jacket with long sleeves! I used to get upset at my skinny husband for always turning the heater way up in the car. Now it is ME turning up the heater. I just die going into a grocery store - I've learned to take a jacket, as they are so cold. The frozen food isles are awful. I don't think this will ever change. We lost our blubber and all our insulation! BUT........ whining over. This is a small price to pay for a new life.
  24. I have averaged 10 pounds of weight loss a month but spent a good 2 months going up and down 10 pounds. So you are definitely not alone.
