RW said to me after, you 2 are funny how you guys banter because I said "whatever" is what teeny boppers say. I called Holb 4 Pattie & she was snotty 2 me... Great NSV's! Those inches are better than pounds!

I'm wondering what NSV means too. I've seen it a lot and I know it's good but just can't quite figure out what it stands for. Thanks! Andy

NSV means non-scale victory.

Every Tuesday, we have a staff meeting. Only one of the chairs is armless, and I always sat in it. Just before banding, someone had taken the chair and I spend the entire hour perched on the front edge of the chair. My back hurt for two days. At the next meeting, I told everyone that it is MY chair. I actually had to say why ... sigh... couldn't they tell? I was embarrassed, but everyone got the point and left the chair for me ever since. Today, I walked in and this skinny woman was sitting in MY chair. I glared at her and she glared back. I had no choice. I sat in the wooden chair ... and ... I fit! It was such a shock! My first really unexpected or anticipated NSV!! :clap2: :clap2:

You know, all the fear of gaining any of this weight back has nothing to do with anything other then a having a better quality of life. 1. Having enough energy to complete my day - and all the surpises that it entails (and with 3 kids, thats alot). 2. Having the self esteem to stand up to people that I wouldve just "kept my mouth shut" in fear of it turning into an arguement. (An arguement meant they wouldnt like me - so I would go into a depresion and eat myself to death) 3. Being able to buy clothes in any store. 4. I enjoy not observing if Im the biggest person at a function. I no longer even look at other peoples size. All these things seem so small to some, but they are big accomplishments (nsv's maybe?) for me. Accomplishments that I do not want to undo. I certainly would/will do what it takes to continue this quality of life. Like Rachele said earlier... I completely understand this.

I just had a NSV - a big one for me!
vinesqueen replied to lovecats85's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Laura! Dahlink! Excellent NSV! just wonderful! Okay, you've lost more than I have in your 4 months than I have in my almost year. You are on track to lose more than 70 pounds in a year. Hardly a slow looser. -
This month marks one year surgerversary for me. I hit goal 8 months ago but it's taken me this long to finally take my rings in and get them resized. I also had them redipped so they look brand new. Have a great weekend everyone. Go Hawks- LA

So today I wore a pair of jeans that were a bit loose before surgery, but I could still wear them in public. I figured they would not hurt my incisions. On my upstairs to get ready for bed I made it to the next to the top step when the jeans just slid right down around my ankles. I just stood there laughing for a few minutes and then hitched them up until I could get to my pjs. YAY!!!

what a marvolous NSV! -
Today I went to the playground with my kiddo and the playground in our neighborhood has one of those spiral slides. Before today I was never able to even think about going down the slide with her. Today that all changed. She asked me to go with her and I was like eh what the heck lets see what happens. Went down that slide with no issues!!! Made me so happy to do things like this with her!

NSV's are not supposed to be sad lol
giveyouthemoon replied to Parvathi's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I know what you mean Parvathi. I have a local larger ladies store that has EVERYTHING I need in there from underwear to great stylish clothes to shoes to accessories, to nightgowns. I LOVE that store. Dang near everything in my closet is from there and I know the day is going to come (not there yet, not by a long shot) that I won't be able to shop there anymore. That I'll have to go out into the world of the skinny people with boutique shops that aren't as easy and comfortable as this one place. It kind of scares me. But for now....girl.....YAY ON YOUR WONDERFUL NSV!!!! You've done amazing work and though it's kind of sad, it's also amazing! -
That's really great Darcy!! It is amazing how quickly you start feeling better and I think most of us understand about those personal hygiene things. That was one of my clues it was time to do something. When one can't safely get in and out of a bathtub or wash all their parts when they get there, this is a problem. Wiping is another. Our arms are JUST so long... Those were some of my very first NSV's. Noticing my hips didn't touch both sides of the bathtub, cinching my seatbelt on the airplane, crossing my legs. I'm still working on being able to climb stairs with less apprehension. It takes awhile to find your center of gravity when you are losing weight. It's those little things that you notice that make you proud that you have taken the step to regain your life back!! My coolest NSV so far was when I was doing my first monthly weigh in/measurements at Curves. I reached up and put the weight thing on 200 before I got on the scale and the woman said, 'There is no way you weigh 200 lbs!!" I'm so proud for you!! Keep on keeping on!! Leatha

New NSV's, but not sure how I feel about some.....
TwoStepsBack replied to myrori's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Thanks for sharing Myrori I too have had some people say I am getting too thin, but I think it is just compared to how I was before! I guess people who don't know we've had the op may think that we may have lost weight due to illness since it is so dramatic. Perhaps I am being dense, but I always see people talking about "NSV"'s on here, and I can't work out what it stands for! Maybe you can clear the mystery for me -
Congrats! I'm looking forward to experiencing the Shopping NSV. I'm still working my way through my old clothes, which are admittedly now huge. LOL I don't have one pair of jeans left to wear; they are all beyond ridiculously baggy. I am holding out for a while longer.

Cheers To Us! What Was Your Most Recent Nsv?
emily_0192010 replied to Joiebean's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Congrats everybody!! I think this is a good idea, i've noticed that a lot of people seems down recently as well. My most recent NSV was this weekend. I went to my old school and I saw a few people who haven't seen me since before I lost any weight (down 105 now) and they didn't recognize me! That was pretty cool for me -
I love the NSV! What a thing to make you smile =) Great job - you look fantastic!
