  1. This is all normal. The swelling has subsided. Like mentioned above, yogurt will go down easily. That's why it is often allowed during the liquid phase. Once you start eating more solid foods, you will feel the restriction more. Also, some days you will feel fuller quicker than others. I will measure out 3 oz of meat. Some days I can eat all of it and think I could probably eat more. Other days I can't even eat 2 oz. This is why I measure everything I eat! When I get too full or eat too quickly, I always get the hiccups. I can use my sleeve as a guide most of the time, but not all of the time. Measure, measure, measure.
  2. If the change was sudden (overnight), you might mention it to your doc. And if it sounds normal to them, then that is great! Yogurt and liquids are supposed to go down smoothly. The restriction should be felt again when eating solids (presumably 8 weeks out). This is why they want you eating your meals and drinking only zero calorie beverages in maintenance.
  3. I'm so sorry. Take the meds religiously. They tried to get mine to heal for 6 weeks before surgery was the plan. The constant contracting pain is the hardest part for me. And I struggle to eat anything and when it started at 2 month post op I was doing great. I got to where I could eat anything with no issues. I'm living of milk with protein powder and yogurt now :/ Good luck. Feel free to pm me! My bypass revision is scheduled for Monday 2/20.
  4. I use to be a Very heavy drinker (water). Now it takes me all day to get 12-16 oz of fluids! I can eat a tiny bit each day, but fluids?! I'm struggling! I'm having to force everything. I eat half a yogurt, and I'm full until lunch time! When I'm full I can't even drink. I'm dizzy all the time! Just by bending to pick something up I get dizzy. Lack of nutrition and dehydration? That's what I'm thinking. I'm regretting this whole thing! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  5. this is so strange. I'm 5.5 weeks out and lost just under 40 pounds. I was eating about 4 oz per meal as I began my soft food diet last week. I ate slowly and definitely got that feeling of when was full and often didn't finish my meal or take a bit longer to finish it. Yesterday, I ate a Greek yogurt and realized I ate 5oz with no problems. No full feeling. huh Today, all my meals have been the same way. Even drinking Water. That funny feeling in my stomach to tell me I'm full is gone. If I hadn't measured out my portion, I probably could have eaten more? I also noticed that I would only be able to finish half a small cup of coffee and today and I could drink all of it with no physical signal/issues. Can even drink water more easily. I did increase my water intake quite a bit b.c of severe constipation and Dr. told me to increase it. I find this so strange. Anyone else experience this? I actually liked the physical sensation of feeling super full. It was a good signal for me. Can a stomach suddenly stretch out?

My date in feb 27th. I started my diet yesterday , protein drink for breakfast and lunch and meal for dinner.. I found myself hungry yesterday after lunch so I had a celery stick and some hummus. Dinner was grilled wings and broccoli. Before deb I got lunch and had yogurt
  7. I am finishing up my shopping this weekend and will start my pre-op diet on Monday. I tried to mimic a day today and was fine until about 2 o'clock. Honestly it was having greek yogurt for Breakfast and lots of Water and sugarfree Jello. I am going to have to really focus on eating a little something every couple of hours.
  8. My diet was for breakfast a miller light yogurt dinner slimfast shake . For tea 125g chicken 32g brown rice and 45gs ov veg . Sometimes I swap tuna or stake . Surgeon just done my operation yesterday and said my diet was good

    Introduction to new "foods"

I didn't finish the shake by 2 oz. For lunch I pulled out the yogurt mixture I made. It took about 1.5 hours to get 8oz. But the stomach was ok with it! Tonight will be cream of chicken soup.

How are you eating at 7 months out ?

I am at 7 mos. My nutritionist gave me the indication I could eat what I wanted as well. Within reason of course. She provided me with a list of typical fast food restaurants and food suggestions including their calorie content, Protein etc. She reinforced the importance of pairing my carbs with a protein and encouraged whole grains whenever possible. It really does depend on your goals. I am trying to slow my weight loss therefore, I would allow myself a Taco if I want one. I have eaten tacos. I can usually only eat 1. Preferrably I make my own. I use the tortilla shell but I may use ground turkey, extra veggies (lettuce/tomato), a little cheese and sour cream. Then that would be it. I wouldn't have another taco for weeks if I didn't think about it. I think about what I've eaten up to this point. I feel that for the most part I've developed some pretty good habits so I try to stay on track with those principles. Eating every 3 -4 hours. Protein first, then incorporate veggies and fruits throughout the day and in between meals along with other snack ideas like nuts, cheese, yogurt. Along with getting in daily fluids. No meals after 7 except special occasions which fall every blue moon. I still can't eat very much and I don't try to. If I was only able to eat a portion of my salmon and broccoli, I put it away and have it during another meal. I don't try to wait 45 min- 1hr and then finish it off. I can see people getting in trouble this way. it can lead to overeating. Walk away, wait 3-4 hours have it for dinner.

    Greek yogurt:( yuck !

It takes me an hour to eat a greek yogurt, and I'm pre-op. I just dip my spoon in it and lick it off. I'm slowly training my buds to like it. Something about the texture I just don't care for.

    Introduction to new "foods"

I'm on the pureed stage now and even super soft foods have been hit and miss. I tried an egg on the first day and it felt like it sat heavy in my stomach. Had one last night though and it tasted great and went down easy this time. Anything new I'm really leery about. Even if I can manage 4 oz of food I limit new things. It does seem like I've had a tougher time with dairy products than other foods. I've always loved yogurt but post-op it was difficult to eat some days. Today I had a Greek yogurt for Breakfast and it went down much easier than one I tried a few days ago.

    4 weeks post op

I am eating cooked veggies, chicken, cottage cheese, yogurt, nuts, beans, eggs, fish and shrimp. So far, I have tolerated everything well. Baked sweet potatoes are a good think to try, as they cook up nice and soft. Eggs are good to try also, but not everybody does well with eggs. Refried beans are good also. They are nice and soft, have fiber and protein.

I am going to try my protein shake instead of the yogurt this morning. Praying things don't go sour

    Introduction to new "foods"

Maybe buy an Oikos drinkable yogurt. The strawberry one is delicious. Yougurt is heavy though. Maybe it's best to stick to protein shakes for now. The premier ones from Costco are super tasty.

    Feeling discouraged

I have the same issues. I hardly eat at all, drink very little, take in no protein and no vitamins. I do have several medical issues going on but I would definitely keep in contact with your nutritionist. There is also a new yogurt out packed full of protein. Best of Luck.
  17. I am afraid to try new foods after tonight. Tomorrow I am on full liquids. I tried to make drinkable yogurt with Greek yogurt and Fairlife milk. I had about a tsp. of it and my tummy twisted and turned in an unhappy manner.

    Band for the new year!

I was banded in October and I'm losing 10 pounds a month. I do weigh more than you. I count calories and track my food. I eat high Protein and low carb. Example Greek FF yogurt, 1 Splenda sweetener, some blueberries for Breakfast. lunch and dinner chili or Soup or salad with protein and a veggie. I stay around 1000 calories a day. Sometimes I go to 1300, but that is special occasion. I still struggle to exercise consistently. I'm happy with my band.

    My experience

You shouldn't have yogurt or applesauce till your dr clears you for puréed foods. If you have them you will possibly slow down your healing and set yourself back.

    My experience

I had my sleeve the 8th of February. I'm actually feeling said. I was 220 now I'm 209. But I can't even be happy because I feel weak and sick. I drink like 3-4 gulps of the shake but it so I satisfying. If I laugh sneeze or anything of this sort my right side hurts a lot. And the stomachs on the left. But it's not even that pain I think that is getting to me it's the hunger. Oh I would like to mention this aswell my doctor gave me a patch for my ear for vomiting. I have not vomitted once. But I stoped it because I herd it can make your vision bad and I've been experience this. I'm worried. I have a question all my doctors paper says is for three weeks all I can have is jello broth popsicle water and protein shake. I have broth once a day. Popsicle maybe twice. Jello maybe every other day. My question is if I have low fat yogurt or sugar free apple sauce will something bad happen to me.
  22. I'm half-way through the puree stage, and very ready to be over it! I'm doing yogurt, cottage cheese, string cheese (chew it really well), refried Beans with salsa and cheese, ricotta with marinara and cheese, pureed great northern beans and cauliflower with pesto, and tuna with mayo and pickle juice. this week I found a white chicken chili recipe and a turkey chili recipe I plan on trying. Also, I have Campbell's Broccoli Cheese or Tomato Soup in a pinch. I tried scrambled eggs plain and with cottage cheese, and also pureed deviled eggs, but those all felt really heavy in my sleeve. Tasted good, though. I can't bring myself to puree meat- I've just been looking for things that are supposed to be that texture.
  23. I was sleeved May 23rd... I'm down 61 lbs. I know I couldnt have ever dreamed of doing that pre-sleeve... but I also imagined myself much further along by now. I've been stuck for a few weeks now... I had been adding granola to my yogurt which I since quit... and I'm back to logging and weighing as of today. I have 23 to go to get to ONEderland... I pray I get there. I'm trying hard not to get depressed...I feel like I eat so little that I cant believe I'm in this situation. How many cals/protein is normal at 9 months? Any advice is appreciated- EJ

    Any puréed food ideas

When I was on the pureed stage I ate cottage cheese, yogurt, scrambled eggs, refried Beans with a little bit of light sour cream... or you could put a little cheese on them. And the thing that I ate the most of was canned chicken that I would mash with a fork (my nutritionist said I didn't have to put it in the blender).... and I would add a little lowfat mayo to the chicken and make a chicken salad out of it. You could also do mashed sweet potatoes, mashed carrots or mashed potatoes. I didn't eat much of the last 3 things, mainly because I was concentrating on getting that Protein in. And I always pass this along because it's great tasting and you can have it on the pureed food stage. A recipe for ricotta bake can be found here: theworldaccordingtoeggface.blogspot.com She has a whole area of pureed food recipes... she is a former WLS patient with a great success story.

    Failure

I'm am so tired of fake sugar it drives me crazy. My shakes turned into iced coffee and a couple scoops of the powder protien. I can mentally handle that much better. The thought of soup, yogurt and milk makes me ill. It's all about baby steps and one thing at a time from what I can tell so far. Sent from my SM-G935V using BariatricPal mobile app
