      Hopefully I will!

However, we're living on a construction area so to say because house needs to be renovated, but it's our construction area, LOL. Luckily some of the major things are already done.

  2. Hey all, I've been working towards this surgery for a while now, and I'm finally at the steps before it actually happens. Nervous, excited, uncertain.... you know the drill. Just wondering what advice you have going forward. Any questions I should ask. My endoscopy is next week Thursday, bit nervous about that but at least I'll be put under. Anyone have any tips to share about that? How it went? Anyone else have Aetna for insurance? Also nervous about the approval. I've done all the pre-work and luckily the place I'm working with is very "on it". Sorry for all the questions. I'm sure this is to be the first of many.
  3. I was excited to have surgery date of May 28. Saw my surgeon this AM. Surgery moved to June 4. shucks. But maybe good as my first weekend after surgery would have been over Memorial Day holiday weekend. I would have gone home Friday. So surgeon would be hard to contact if anything went wrong day or two after surgery. So I am okay with another delay. Always trying to see benefit from another delay. Sent from my SM-T580 using BariatricPal mobile app
  4. Hi, My husband is having surgery next week. He has been doing a great job with this pre-surgery diet but I want to make sure I am armed with information to make his post-op days successful. I have a few questions and would love any advice. First question -- post op he is on liquids only for 3 weeks. Can I put ice in his pre-made protein drinks to give him a bit of creamier, milkshake texture for change? Second question - we have a 13 year old son and I am not sure how to feed myself and my son while not totally sabotaging my husband's efforts or testing his temptations. We are going to focus on a high protein, leafy green vegetable and fruit diet for ourselves but in the early stages what can I do to help my husband out? Thanks!!!

    1 week away!!

Hello Everyone, I am new here! My name is Ashley and I am officially one week away from having VSG Surgery (It has been a looonnngg process). I was originally scheduled in March but the Coronavirus messed things up and it was cancelled. I wanted to have this surgery because I have PCOS (Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome) which is a hormonal imbalance disorder. My husband and I have been trying for a baby for quite some time now and after many different treatments with no success, and after doing research on VSG surgery, I knew that this was what I needed to do. I can not wait to see how this changes my life. Is there anyone else out there with PCOS? If so, did surgery help you in any way?

  8. Yay! Finally hit onederland! My weight loss was stalled for a couple of weeks but the last week or so it has been moving again. Because I'm tracking in kilos I didn't actually realize that I am now under 200 pounds. I'm so happy! Next goal to hit, probably this week, is for my BMI to hit the lowest obesity level (class I). After that I'll be gunning for just overweight, but that probably won't happen until summer, provided I can keep from snacking during all this working from home!

  9. Hey everyone, I hope you are all staying safe. I am 7 weeks vsg and My weight loss is going very slow... Any suggestions or ideas... would love to know... Be safe!
  10. So I am down to 147 as of today. I am 10 weeks post op and feel amazing. I actually feel normal again.

  11. Hi All, I am about 7 weeks post RNY. For the last week and a half I’ve been struggling with extreme nausea and on and off vomiting. I can’t get many fluids down. I was averaging about 40oz before the last week. I was sent into the infusion center to get two liters of fluids and they are encouraging me to go again. I’m obviously no where near my protein intake either. My medical team has given me Zofran, phenergan, and the scopolamine patch. The phenergan puts the nausea at bay, but I still can’t get much down. I also went back to clear liquids the last couple of days. I’m so weak with not being able to get fluids/protein. I’m just wondering if anyone else has struggled with this, and how you got through it? My medical team says that I “just need to get over the hump and I’ll feel better soon.” I hope that it happens soon because I’m really struggling!
  12. Ok, I am almost 7 mo out and am down 130lb over all. Weight loss has slowed to a trickle, down only 6lb in the last month, nothing in a week. The past 2 days I have struggled to stay full and Wednesday was a bad day, made some not great choices(still didn't over eat just not good choices) and Thursday morning had to run for the bathroom 2x in 30 min before I ate anything at all for the day. I STRUGGLED to stay full yesterday and I made good choices etc, Here was how I ate yesterday. 5:30am Protein Shake 30g protein 160cal 8:30am 3 slices american cheese and 3 crackers. 10:30am Protein Shake 30g protein 160 cal & 3/4cup veggie soup over 45 min. 2:30pm 130 cal coffee drink and 30 min later almonds, dried cranberries and a few cheese cubes 160cal 6:45pm Garden Veggie Burger with one slice of cheese, 6 olives, 1 cherry tomato, slice of cucumber and 1/2 of a breadstick. I was SUPER thirsty yesterday and I think I drank too soon after eating/with meals. Did it again with breakfast drank a ton of water during and after I ate. Then the light bulb went off too much water TOO soon. I am just feeling very very frustrated and can not seem to stay full the last few days. I know I have not stretched my pouch out but I worry about that all the time. I do make good choices 90% of the time. I get lots of steps in at work but miss going to the gym of course. I do not want to fail at this. Please help!
  13. Hey Guys, I just found this site after a hopeful search looking for someone who has or is going through something similar. I had RNY with a Minimizer Ring on the 18th of February 2020. I am 43 and 5ft 9In. My surgery weight was 296 pounds and I am now 238 pounds. A loss of 58 pounds so far. I had been planning/researching the surgery for 5 years and after my last failed attempt of maintaining, went ahead with surgery with full knowledge of what to expect (well so I thought). For full disclosure, my weight problems I think were based on years of yo-yo dieting. Mainly extreme calorie cutting and exercise to get to normal weight. However, when off the ‘diet wagon’ I would only eat a huge meal once a day after not eating all day and being starving when I got home. Usually meals were very much carb based with heavy sauces. I would eat normally on the weekend, but overly big portion sizes. I am not a sweet tooth or an emotional eater, nor am I a fussy eater. I also loved coke zero, which I have just found out is apparently a trickster. Anyways, I think I ruined my metabolism and losing weight was no longer working like it used to! What I expected: · 5-10 days of a keto kind of flu whilst my body adjusted to fat burning mode · Minimal appetite, but still some kind of signal I needed to eat · Being easily satiated with small amounts of food · Having to chew my food 20-30 times · No water 30 mins before or 60 mins after food · Protein first, avoid simple carbs What I did not expect · Persistent nausea · Aversions to all meat/poultry/fish and eggs (physically make me heave) and other random things (sour cream, mushrooms, pumpkin soup, cheese that has been grilled) · Complete and utter exhaustion to the point where my personal hygiene is embarrassing because sometimes I can’t muster enough energy to have a shower for days · Dumping sometimes trying food for the first time, sometimes after having food that did not make me dump last time (for me it is sweating, heart racing, severe cramps and diarrhoea within 30 mins of eating) · Being so uncomfortably full even if it is just water, or a couple of tiny bites of food. I get less than 1000 calories in a week · That chewing the food so many times would make most foods unpalatable and having to spit it out or throw up · The amount of times I belch, heave and bring up thick saliva……all day…..its disgusting and embarrassing! I had read many stories before the surgery, some positive and some negative and was always quick to judge people thinking they were just negative Nancy’s or hypochondriacs and like attention. So it hard to write this post knowing a lot of people will think what I did. I have had scans with contrasts and there are no issues. I have been hospitalised for dehydration, low potassium and high blood ketones. Ketones are normal due to weigh loss. Dehydration and potassium easily fixed with IV fluid. I have a gastroscope tomorrow morning to check if there is scar tissue etc causing my issues. BUT WHAT IF THEY FIND NOTHING???? WILL THIS BE MY FOREVER??? HAS ANYONE DEALT WITH ANYTHING SIMILAR OR IS IT JUST MY BODY FREAKING OUT AND TAKING LONGER THAN NORMAL TO ADJUST? Thanks if you read this far, it really means a lot. I would love to hear from you. I am open to all feedback. Best, Laura (Alice Springs, Australia)
  14. My week 3/4 stall finally lifted! Only lost 1.5 this week but glad it's starting to go down again! :) So demotivating to see the scale not move despite not eating much.

  15. hi everyone. I'm beyond frustrated. I am just over 4 months post op with gastric sleeve. I have lost close to 60 lbs already so I can't really complain how ever, I have been doing everything right and have not lost ONE lb in over 10 days now. In fact, I gained 1 lb as of this morning. I am doing everything right. Has anyone gone through this? I thought a stall wasn't supposed to last this long??!! Thanks!
  16. Has anyone had a long weightloss stall? I'm talking months. It's been since January since I've lost any weight. Idk doesn't seem normal to me. I'm 6 months out and i thought i was still in the honeymoon phase.

    Revision - 4 Weeks In

So I had a sleeve to bypass revision on 3/11. I am so lucky I had it when I did because of this virus. Anyway, I was worried because with my sleeve I lost 118 in a year and heard with the revisions it is much slower. Like everyone else, I want my excess weight gone as quickly as possible. Well, I am happy to to say I’ve lost 18lbs in 4 weeks. It’s a little slower than it was with my sleeve, but still, 18 POUNDS!!! I already can see the difference and I’m back in size 12’s. The only issue I’ve had is with my pain pump incision. I seem to have an abscess under it but that isn’t related to weight loss. I’m really happy with my progress so far. So I’m posting this for anyone who is worried about weight loss being hard after a revision. It’s not. I’m happy to say I’m a loser again!! I’m feeling much more restriction with my bypass. I’m also making healthier choices this time around whereas last time I ate whatever the hell I wanted and I know that’s why I had a regain. I learned nothing about how to eat healthier. I’m eating things like broiled vegetables and tilapia and salmon which I thought I wouldn’t like but holy crap is it good! I feel so good this time around, like I’m going to keep it off this time because I’ve actually learned from my first failure. So, my fears are subsiding and I feel fantastic. No worries at all. YAY!!! Take care fellow losers!!
  18. Today is my three month post sleeve day, and I have lost a total of 61.4lbs!!!!!! This is wild- I'm SO close to my high school weight again. No more blood pressure or cholesterol meds, I have more energy than I've had in years, I crave healthy foods and eat well... this is the reason I had the surgery. I needed that push to get me going. It's been the best tool I've ever had to become healthy. I am just legitimately so happy to finally feel like a human again... after I'm finished with my breakfast, I'm going out on my new bike for a victory lap lol
  19. I am almost 8 weeks post op and I am down to 157 from 202. I have been struggling with nausea but not vomiting. Anyone else having this happen?

do you set a timer? This is also a hard one or me. During the time between the band removal and sleeve i got back into the habit of drinking with meals..... water, coffee, wine, cocktails.

I find myself forgetting. In the past months i only threw up twice... so thats good, but i have felt nausea a few times. So now i set a timer on my phone or if im home, i use Alexa.

  20. hello! This is my first week researching gastric bypass/sleeve. Can y’all please tell me everything you wish you knew from the start? I have read a lot but I feel like there is going to be some surprising disadvantages and I would like to know now. I think right now I am more interested in the sleeve. Can you please tell me why you chose which one you did? With either procedure are you ever allowed to eat rice again like even after a year? Can you drink alcohol ever again? Thank you in advance

I wish i knew about the gas pain! The surgery itself didn't hurt but omg, the gas! 😣 still absolutely no regrets though! X

  21. I am beyond frustrated. Bypass 1/14/20 highest weight: 276lbs surgery weight: 248lbs current weight: 214lbs I have not lost a single pound or inch in TWO stinking months. I have changed my habits so much, I’ve increased my exercise. I’m now walking 3 times a day and putting in a total of almost 4 miles a day. I’m getting at least 80 grams of protein a day. At least 100 oz of water a day. My daily carb intake stays below 90 grams a day. My daily fat intake stays below 60 grams a day. I stay completely away from sugar. I swapped all the fruit I eat in a day with vegetables. I’m just at a loss. I’ve stayed away from the scale for two weeks and still nothing. I feel broken and like I’m a rare case that the surgery just doesn’t work for me. I’m at a loss.
  22. Seige

I was in A-Fib several times the week after my surgery. I had been on a beta blocker prior to surgery, but went off it, substituting another BP med, so I could take the stress test. I thought I was dying. Went back on the beta blocker, and the new drug as well. Pulse went back to my normal, under 50. But my BP is still high. Surgery was 3/8. Have a cardiologist appointment 4/8. My surgeon has been of no use. He just says it will go down, when you  lose your  weight.  He didn’t even examine my incisions. Did his job, not interested now.
