    NSV

Had an awesome NSV last week. Went on my first airplane since last year and did not have the issues I normally would have. Seatbelt did not have to be at its biggest, my body was not hanging over each side. The tray table did not touch my stomach. I was comfortable on the 2 5 hour legs of the trip. It was fabulous! Was it worth it?

It was one of the best decision I have ever made in my life. It’s not the number on the scale that drives me anymore but more the NSV. I can play with my kids and be active with them, I can sit on an airplane without a seatbelt extender, I can sit in a restaurant booth, I have energy for days, and I am able to keep up in my kickboxing class. Shopping isn’t a chore anymore and I don’t alienate myself by staying home anymore. I go out and experience life! This being said, I only had my gastric bypass on May 28th of this year and so far I have lost 54lbs since surgery and 85lbs since my highest weight in November. I had serious nerves leading up to the surgery and for a few weeks after but trust me, my life is so much better now. Good luck!
  3. If you can swing it don’t wait a year. I had a surprise international work trip at week 11 post op. I was able to add some vacation to it too. Holy Moley did it help to have a whole bunch of NSV around traveling. I’m now planning more trips as I finally feel good.

    Partner’s weight

My wife lost weight. I cook for the house. So when I didn't cook for a month, she didn't eat well and lost about 15lbs - down to her prebaby weight. Then I started cooking again, she joked that she'd regain it. But again, i was serving far smaller portions. In the past I just srved her what I was having and she ate more than needed. So she lost a little more still. It's been a good unanticipated NSV. She's a perfect size anyway, but seems happier in her skin less the baby weight. 5. Hello! I hope everyone is doing well today! I had a nice little NSV. My jeans went from a size 48 relaxed fit to a size 44. Just remember that inches matter as much as the scale, if not more. :-)

    Non Scale Victories

I had a NSV today! I went for a walk at work and it didn’t suck! I’m only a few weeks post-op but it’s crazy the positive effects I’m already noticing.

    Non Scale Victories

We are going on vacation in September, I’ve been on the hunt for some cool, comfortable dresses. My NSV is that I can buy small and medium sizes now. I even bought a small for my tankini bottoms. Small! Omg.

    Non Scale Victories

That’s tremendous. Keep up the good work. I am only one month post op so hope in a few weeks I will score some NSVs as well

    What's your non-scale victory?

Fitting into the bikini in my profile picture was my best NSV!

    First surprise NSV

@Sweedfire86 great NSV butttt don't spend too much money on new clothes. your sizes will change continued good luck kathy congrats
  12. I’m 5 weeks post op and I went to buy some new shorts today because my other ones were too loose for even a belt to hold up. When I was trying on new shorts I figured that I had only dropped one pant size. Turns out I’ve gone from a 46” waist to a 40” waist. It was a nice surprise. HW:375 SW:338 CW: 301 GW: 250

    Non Scale Victories

My scale numbers aren’t great but my NSV is pretty much all of the stamina I have now. I can take longer walks without being winded or tired. I no longer have knee or ankle pains. I just overall feel great

How often do you weigh yourself?

I weigh daily, in the morning when I get up, in my birthday suit. 😂 But I’m going to put my scale away for a while. I feel myself starting to obsess over the number and pick myself apart about what I must be doing wrong. The truth is I’m following my plan and doing some moderate exercise (walking and light weight lifting) but my weight loss isn’t nearly as fast as I had hoped. I’m 6 weeks out and have lost 18 pounds. So right now I’m in the process of adjusting my expectations, trying to celebrate my NSVs (like the fact that I’m wearing pants I haven’t been able to wear in years!) and trying to remind myself that I’m so early in this journey, my body has been through a lot and I need to appreciate the process even when it’s tough. I wish the same for you!

How are the May sleevers doing?

It is awesome to hear that you are seeing so many non scale victories! I committed myself to focusing more on my NSVs in the last two weeks, which has helped me get away from some of the negative feelings I was spiraling into due to my "slow" progress. In the mean time, my weight loss started to pick back up. I actually lost 5.8 lbs in the last two weeks, which is amazing. I switched trainers, and workout methods, and it seems to have woken up my metabolism. NSVs: I have found that I can do just about any physical activity without getting winded in the first minute or two, though I haven't tried any long cardio endurance tests just yet. I am happy to be able to make it through my Personal Training sessions and 30-45 min cardio sessions without giving up. I dropped from a size 24/26 to a size 18 pants and from a 3X Plus size to an XL Women's size tops. My feet are getting smaller already I can sit in arm chairs with ease. My eating and vitamin taking habits are becoming second nature. I'm working on water still! People are starting to ask me for advice on snacks and what to eat. (Me, really, did you just ask ME that?) I lost 7 inches!! off of the largest circumference of my body that I have been tracking. I cleaned out my closet of everything that is too big and donated to my mom and sister. I had 7 trash bags of clothes and shoes that I will hopefully NEVER be able to fit into again. I moved up two notches on my watch band. I am losing weight in my hands and arms like crazy!

That’s awesome you’re making great progress as well. I’m on the mush stage but I’m so terrified to try new things 🙈. Those NSV are the best though I no longer get out of breath just walking up the stairs at work

Ya'll are doing amazing at 40+ pounds lost. WAHOOOO! I felt really good this past weekend and the puree stage is really helping me feel satisfied. I'm 4 weeks post-op today and down 30 lbs. That does include a 12 lb. loss on my pre-op diet. I'm super happy! I'm wearing a long dress today to work and just bent down with ease to pick up some leaves that fell off a floral arrangement. I didn't even think twice about bending down. When I was down there, I smiled to myself. NSV!

    Unexpected NSV

So some of you have heard me extoll the virtues of one of my favorite pastimes - square dancing. I have been dancing at state conventions(IA MN), a Mayfest festival, and late last month at National - a nearly week long affair. Well I have overdone it, I had a TKR on my right knee 9 years ago, and it was giving me mega pain. So I made an appt with my ortho to see what was up. Xrays. Exam. Nothing huge - phew! Imflammed bursa. Getting a shot. The PA giving me my shot, marked the spot for the shot with a small dot. She came back w syringe loaded and explained it all, said now because you have small legs (she said SMALL LEGS)(OMG) (did she say SMALL LEGS?) you might see a bulge of the fluid on the side here!!! I heard nothing after she said small legs...lol
  23. My target outfits are about as fancy as I get, lol! I love this NSV!!! I can't wait to say goodbye to my lumpy back fat. Maybe I'll throw it a funeral. JK - BYE FELICIA!
  24. Ok, today I had to stop my husband from walking out of the house....in a pair of my skinny jeans. Bahahahahaha! This would NEVER have happened in my size 22 days. He's like....Ok, I thought they fit weird, but I couldn't figure out why. D'Oh!
