Am I Going Crazy? My Personality Changed.
Krimsonbutterflies replied to jme53071's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm only 2 days out of surgery and I don't have patience for BS. I think I'm possessed with gas pains, my commentary is different. I'd prefer to be left alone until this gas passes and the puree phase. I'm mentally exhausted and trying to get a little rest, but I can't because of this gas. I'm going to meditate and try to get my self aligned emotionally, physically, mentally and spiritually. This is a lifelong commitment and coping skills need to be developed now...Attitude is everything. -
Okay so I want to urge caution and patience here. I too got freaked out a few weeks ago with my continued loss and then I finally realized that should embrace it I mean, I’ve been fighting a war with my body for over 2 decades and I’m sick and tired of it. So for 20+ years I couldn’t lose enough and now I’m gonna stress bc I had WLS and I’m losing “too much??” Nah, instead I’m just gonna relax and see where this ride stops. I talked to my NUT last month and she reassured me that my body won’t let me die, and I just had my 1 year labs done and they are BEAUTIFUL! I have zero deficiencies and personally I feel better than I’ve ever felt before. I now that I’ve spent almost 2 months

PLEASE HELP the skeptic in me. Doesn't starving = eventual weight gain??
Sheribear68 replied to MaybeMeow's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
5’7”, female, 51YO, 13 months post VGS. HW: 262 SW: 246 GW: 155 CW: 134-137 MANY of us who are WLS all start in different places and have had different routes getting there. I personally think that the human body is a wonderful and mysteriously frustrating thing. As an adult, spent many years “normal” or slightly “under normal” body weight. It was only when I hit my late 20’s that I became MO. And stayed there for 22 years. When I had WLS, I had to maintain my BMI (which was hovering right at 40) for 8 months so I could stay qualified. I’d love to see insurance companies lower that number to 35, because I could’ve been practicing healthier habits in the months leading up to WLS rather than INTENTIONALLY trying to keep my weight >252. My point here is that I hit a “normal” BMI fairly rapidly-within 8 months of WLS- and I’m now struggling to keep my weight over 135. I feel like most of that was because I had a lower-than-typical SW, and that my body “remembers” being a skinny girl as a teen and young adult and therefore when I got my resetting from WLS, my body adjusted beautifully. I’ve lost >110 pounds from my surgery date, which is way over 100% EBF. I’m not a super-hero, I just happened to be a girl who (mostly) followed what her team recommended, worked out, and did my homework daily, weekly, and monthly to get and stay on track. Honestly it take me getting creative some days and I still struggle trying to get in >1000 calories sometimes bc I refuse to eat crap. Other than dealing with a weird tomato and Kimchi craving right now, I’m not feeling deprived at all. -
I encourage you to walk because you got no choice, if you try to lay down it’s like the Jolly green giant sit on you 😥 the nutritionist was super nice. Trying to decide who to do my psych (let’s just say bc of what I do for a living I may have to go out of state or something (those details for a PM 😆). My scope (and colonoscopy) is a Friday.

Hello I just received my surgery yesterday for the sleeve. Has anyone else experience when they drank water it hurt the top of their stomach. I keep getting spasms at the top of my stomach. I'm Nervous about going home if I'm unable to drink properly. I've been walking pretty often but the gas is still there. Also my incisions hurt and I tried not to take the oxycodone but the tylenol doesn't do anything. I was trying to complete the fluid intake amounts but think I overdid it bc now I cant drink anything without sharp pains. Any advice on what I can do or does this just pass on it's own? can someone just tell me
GreenTealael replied to ninalinas's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I added that because every so often a Social Antagonizer shows up asking about coke starting a new moral war. I thought we should not have to fall victim to the BS 😅 -

Yes been in hospital every weekend for UTI infection keeps coming back had u one test on Friday and showed clear. I’ve been eating to much at certain points do u think it could be dumping syndrome? But last faint on Friday there had been a two hour gap. I had the opp in turkey so I’m not in touch with the Bariatric team here but have been in and out and had every test. There was a problem after my surgery three days in and I couldn’t keep even a single drop of water down. The done an endoscopy and found I had oedema in my stomach. They drained it but said if it didn’t settle I would need the mini bye pass. Thank god it settled but can’t help feel it’s something to do with that. I do suffer a bit with low blood pressure so could be that. I do fed up I can’t face going to hospital again. thank you for your reply April -
Lap band fitted and filled, but my stomach holds as much as before!
Likklelime replied to ChinchillaMum's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I hope you get answers and assistance. I dont think it is fair to imply you are not invested bc you still plan to eat carbs. I havent had surgery yet but I do know plenty of banded, sleeved and bypassed folks who eat carbs in moderation. -
Hi fellow RNYs! My date is March 17th and I was approved in January. I probably could have had it in February, but they couldn't catch up with me. BCBS-Fed.

I got a women's daily gummy from Costco bc I couldn't stand the chewables. I'll take the few grams of sugar in order to be able to get the vitamins in ! Sent from my Pixel 3 using Tapatalk -
Recommend a doctor please
"Henry" replied to Want to be smaller's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Hi Want to be smaller, If you are thinking of Medical Tourism in Mexico, please consider Dr. Selim Jalil Illan Fraijo, MD, FACS, FASMBS at Hospital BC. Please contact me if you have any questions. -
Hi Amnunez, Dr. Illan no longer performs surgeries at Oasis of Hope. He now performs all his surgeries at Hospital BC where he is the Medical Director. The Gastric Sleeve package starts at $4900 USD, for a BMI of 48 or lower. There is an additional charge of $500.00 USD for hernia repair. Please contact me if you would like more information. Thank you!

Hi everyone, this is my very first EVER post on ANY forum. I am planning VSG for this June and am in the process of researching options in Mexico. I like what I’m finding on Dr. Illan but I’m confused about which hospital he works out of. Oasis of Hope, Bariatric Pal Team MX, or Hospital BC?? Also, I read that he doesn’t include hernia repair in the package price. I believe other doctors do include it. Anyone know how much that costs in addition to the $5000 vsg package?

Bariatric Pre-made protein meals (add water meals) VS home cooked protein meals
TheAngryMeow replied to Shawna Jones's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I second this. I used to buy into the organic, grass fed, all natural, no antibiotic stuff all the time. I came to realize that no matter what you do, you will slip up somewhere. GMOs are in EVERYTHING nowadays. Even organic stuff. So it's best to just eat healthy and not worry about finding the most "pure" ingredients. As far as the OPs original concern, I noticed that too. I can only speak from experience since I'm still on the liquid pre-op diet, that I had to experiment with a ton of different things before I found what worked for me. Currently, I drink Glucerna hunger smart. It keeps me satiated for several hours and sometimes I forget to even eat. Plus, its the most palatable of the protein drinks I've tried so far. It's always a good idea to make stuff from scratch because you know what goes in it and can avoid the extra sugars and fats. But in a pinch, protein drinks and other protein sources are helpful. But I wouldn't rely to heavily on it. Good luck 👍 -

No restriction
BadWolfGirl replied to GotItDoneInHarlem's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm assuming you're still at mush food? I think once you start eating more solid food you'll feel more restriction. That being said, so many people had me so scared about certain foods and so far I can eat almost anything. The ONLY thing I've had a problem with is eating too quickly when I'm not paying attention. It happened again tonight. Taking to a friend as we were playing cards and was eating my crab and a few minutes after finishing, it came right back up. I also don't tolerate creamy soup, I think for the same reason. They go down too fast and then I feel sweaty and hot and nauseous but bc they're liquids there's really nothing left to throw up as it's already went down the tubes so to speak lol. Bottom line, you'll learn you best. Take it slowly! Sent from my Pixel 3 using Tapatalk -
March 2020 Surgery Folks Come On in!
Slimmy-mommeee replied to Mello1's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hey Lily! The front snap bra and robe with pockets are great ideas. I'm nervous about the IV line though with the robe not sure it would work. You should definitely enjoy each meal bc the preop diet is no joke. Are you able to eat a small meal on your or just liquid? Sent from my SM-G950U1 using Tapatalk -
Food Before and After Photos
Sheribear68 replied to GreenTealael's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Yes to all of this! I actually find myself craving the lighter, healthier and VLC food choices more now than ever. I myself don’t make the most perfect choices every day, but I do plan out 4-5 days weekly and even then I don’t get in all my food I’ve planned. I actually find myself eating LESS than planned most days because i still have a “fat brain and eyes”, so what I think I can eat turns out to be more than I can actually eat. The good news about that though is that I’ve got loads of protein, healthy bats and slow-carbs in my diet and those keep me happy and filled up and not at all feeling deprived. Food was definitely synonymous with “love” in my household and that’s a tough one to get over. Lol, knowing fluffy’s family history is cool bc now I know where she got some of those mad cooking skilz from. I was doing good at the age of 25 to make Mac and cheese. 🤣🤣🤣 -
It's so annoying and embarrassing! People are always like "is that your stomach ? Are you hungry ?". And I'm like noooo I fed it already

Wow that's nuts. I use a handful of spinach, around a cup of frozen fruit, about a cup of almond milk and my Genepro. It takes me an hour or two but I drink it while I work so I get side tracked. Maybe bc I'm rny things slide down super easy.? Sent from my Pixel 3 using Tapatalk
