4 weeks post op & scale isn't decreasing

I've lost 24 lbs since surgery. The scales haven't budged since Monday. I think I hit my three-week stall a little early But I know I haven't stepped off the doctor's plan, and I've been getting my exercise, so I know it will pick up again. I am immensely grateful for reading about everyone's stalls on here so I knew to expect it and didn't panic as much as I may have otherwise.

4 weeks Post Op and Stuck

Hi May Sleevers! I feel a special bond with you because I'm a May Sleever too! May 2011. The three week stall is very common. 18-20 pounds in the first month is great. I suggest cutting fatty foods, such as avocado and full fat cheeses till later in your progress. When in the early stages, I tried to get 1 gram of Protein for every 10 calories of most foods. That allowed me to get 70 grams of protein for around 700 calories. And I exercised 6 days a week. Not a crazy amount of time. Three days I walked an hour at a fairly good clip. Three days I worked with weights for 30 minutes. Best wishes to all of you on your journey! I'm saving a spot for you on the goalies' bench. Lynda

    Hello everyone

Yep, I did. 22lbs lost in 6 days, then a three week stall where I lost inches but no pounds. (Which at 650 calories a day is absolutely amazing to me.) the doc said booth the rapid weight loss and stall are common. Hope that helps.
  8. Never had the three week stall. Mine started at 4.5 weeks. I'm sure this normal. My taste is very picky post op. But still am trying things out. Get in two Protein shakes and enough fluids a day. I go back to work in two days and know what food I will bring to get me through my long 12 hour days as a nurse. I don't think I'm getting enough protein. Any suggestions? Also what are the people who weren't active pre-op doing now? Please be honest about this question. I am finding it hard to get motivated. HW 202 SW197 Current weight 175. HELP

For the love of sweet Jesus.....

Revs, I was wondering when you write again and you didn't fail us....Please don't stop your rants. I think I have woman-crush on you. I agree with some of the other posters here...I just kind of move along when the repeated questions are asked, "Which Protein shake is the best?" or the irrational "My hair is on fire, what should I do?" "My incision is bleeding and oozing a green colored liquid - is this normal?" "2nd day post-op and I'm up 5 pounds WTF?" "3 weeks post-op and stalled - has this happened to you?" I agree with Revs on the point of putting forth effort to look thru some old posts - Yes, stalls happen at three weeks and if you spent any time on this site, you would see that everyone stalls at some point and the three week stall is real. OK - I'm off now...I'm going to weigh myself for the 5th time today to see if I've lost anything.

    Weight at a stand still

After seeing all the three week stall posts I admit I still panicked a little lol. I am trying to have faith that logically you can't follow this plan long term and NOT lose.

    Longest "stall" so far.

My stats are dang close to yours as well... 5'6.5" SW/Surgery Weight: 271 (no pre op diet) Surgery Date 12/2 Current weight: 188 Goal: 150ish I run three days a week and do power yoga or pilates 2/3 days. Have even thinking of adding a personal trainer as well. I typically get 540-700 cals a day usually, 60-75g Protein and 64oz+ of Water. I have had three stalls so far...the three week stall, one about a month ago and one now. I totally hear you!!!! To get out of my last stall I tried upping my calories which many advised and nada. I went back to Protein Shakes only for two days and bang! Out of the stall. Tried that this time and no such luck. Thinking about trying to up them for a few days and trying to get 800-1000. Would love to hear what worked for others too!

HW: 285 SW: 266 CW: 230 Three week stall over! One pound lost and I'll take it!
  13. Three week stall you will not win. It's onnnnn... lol

  14. I had the three week stall last week and then all of a sudden it started back again. Sometimes if you don't drink enough water it can cause you to hold excess water weight. It will start going down again just don't let it get to you!!!
  15. It's great to hear so many of us are going through the same thing. I hit the three week stall as well. I am so glad so many other people are having this problem too. It makes me feel a lot better. And for the constipation I take miralax. Flavor less and colorless. I mix It right in with my protein shake about every other day. No cramping. Just makes it happen for you. =) Good luck everyone. We can do this! Skinny here we come!!
  16. I was sleeved April 7th and dropped 23 lbs VERY fast. Then nothing. I kept reading about the three week stall and just tried to believe that it would start up again, but I was getting very discouraged. I was weighing everyday and would be anywhere from 249 to 251. This past weekend I went out of town so I couldn't weigh (and didn't need to). I just focused on protein and fluids and did A LOT of walking. I weighed this morning - 242! Hallelujah!!!

Week 3 Post-Op No weight loss...

I understand about the stalls. I was in a three week stall 4 weeks post op and I am happy to report that over the last two days the scale is finally moving down again! I had been off my blood pressure meds since the surgery and it had been normal. Then all of a sudden my blood pressure went up again. I took my BP meds two days in a row and that seemed to have kick started the weight loss. I am sure I was retaining fluids of some sort. My BP is back to normal again and the scale is moving. I also upped my Protein and exercise; that probably had a lot to do with it too. Hang in there. I understand about the frustration. I had convinced myself that I was doing something wrong and that I was going to fail at this too. It's all a head game. Your body is adjusting and will move when it's time. Good luck and stay positive.

    April 2014 sleevers

Hi Stars in my eyes - there a few threads that discuss a three week stall - maybe some of the responses there might be useful? I'm just over 1 week out so I have not experienced this yet. But from what I can recall reading there were quite a few who did have a stall at 3 weeks post Op Cheers
  19. I have read tons of posts about stalls and thought I was mentally prepared for the infamous "three week stall". Despite all that, when it happened to me, I got a little down. It's so frustrating to be eating so little and not lose any. ***just venting***. :-)

    Weight coming off too fast?

That's about right. Its a mental thing to see on the scale, but it is fine. It will taper off from going so fast very soon. You'll hit the three week stall, which can last for ages and then it plods its way down from there on in. If you can't get Protein in, at least try and get as much Iron, Vitamin and B12 supplements in as possible. These are incredibly important. Oh, along with your Water, too. As for the protein, have you tried some protein water like Isopure clear? Tastes like donkeys arse, but it will keep your levels up. As for being dizzy? This eases up but you have to maintain your protein and water levels. I'm over 6 months out and if I don't watch it, I can get dizzy when I stand up to fast. Its a constant battle, the water and protein thing. Breathe easy, you're doing okay!
  21. We were at the same starting weight too give or take 10lbs (I WAS HEAVIER!) Surgery was 1/21. I had a very rough recovery, had the notorious three week stall which lasted 3 WEEKS, and have been feeling like my progress is NOT where it should be. I hardly ate or drank anything after surgery for at least a month. I had Water nausea & everything. Puree phase was the worst...I just could NOT eat and the sight of Protein shakes made me heave. She, on the other hand, had a super easy recovery and lost almost 20lbs more than me at this stage (her surgery was in Aug & 8 weeks later she was down 50) I just started tracking food- right now I'm having about 800-900 calories most days & I just started back to doing vigorous exercise this last two weeks. Tuesday I did a 63 minute spin class and ate 1500 calories that day. I felt that was WAY too much. I don't even like going over 1000 calories but according to FitnessPal, those 63 minutes burned off 1100 calories... Anyway, I've done over 190 minutes of exercise this week and lost only 2 friggin pounds. She's 10-12 years older than I am too. I''ve been teary all morning since weighing in. I don't know if this was really worth it. I could have struggled like this WITHOUT spending $7000 of my money on this effing surgery.

    A little down

It's perfectly normal to stall in your weight loss, especially between the two and four weeks out mark. If you don't believe me, use the search function here and look for "three week stall." You are not alone! Keep following your doctor's instructions and the weight will start to come off again. Don't be disappointed in yourself, you are doing great, I promise!
  23. Madam Reverie

What happens if you eat solid foods too soon.

The reason you're on soft and pureed foods, is because your staple line is red raw and still not healed. You have a MAJOR wound in one of your MAJOR organs. Although you might think you're all good in the hood, you could be doing yourselves some damage. They don't (on average) tell you to wait for 6 weeks just to be pains in the bum. Its for your safety. The three week stall is well documented. Also, and more importantly, so are the risks of jumping ahead of your eating plan. Please be sensible.

    5 months out & struggling

Congratulations on reaching Onederland! Very frustrating to have a three-week stall but you got through that and put the 200s behind you. I am so looking forward to that day! Maybe you're afraid of another stall or just a little nervous about how your life is changing so quickly. Ironically, sometimes we're afraid we're going to screw something up so we go ahead and.....screw it up. Not sure what that is, but it's a very human tendency. Be careful not to let self-sabotage into the game. Be kind to yourself. Use positive self-talk. You have chosen yourself and your health above everything else and you deserve all good things. Best wishes to you!
  25. I think this is the dreaded three week stall. I just try to remember that my body need this time to adjust, it helps me not to fixate on the scale. Trying to up my water, and I walk 40-60 mins a day. So far I had to loose 10lbs. pre-op, lost 15 on liquid pre-op, and 19 since surgery on 2/24. The scale has been stalled for a while now, but I have never lost 44lbs this quickly.
