    Damn scale!

I weigh daily. I had an almost 3 week stall and it was so frustrating. This week I lost 9 pounds though. No clue how it happened, but it did. Be patient and keep up the hard work. Eventually your body will stop struggling against you and it will fall off.
  2. Yesterday was three weeks post-op, and the scale hasn't moved for a few days. I figure that this is (insert dramatic music here) the dreaded 3-week stall. If it weren't for you wonderful people on this forum, I would've been convinced that I was eating too much (600 calories a day?), had already stretched out my sleeve, I was a complete failure already, I would be the only one the sleeve wouldn't work for, and the Earth was falling into the Sun. But no. Because of you all, I knew what to expect. Last week, I took measurements, I've put away the scale until next week, and I'm going to keep plugging away at following the rules. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

    And So Our Journey Begins...

I'm so glad I had read through your post from the beginning before.. I'm in my 3 week stall.. I've been stalled almost three weeks. Actually gaining 2.6 pounds last Friday, and still have .2 of that to go.. hope it starts moving again!
  4. I had my VSG surgery on Nov 6th, 2012. ( 15 wks post op) Counting pre op I have lost a total of 60 lbs, 20 of that before surgery. For the past 4-5 weeks I haven't lost a pound and I actually keep fluctuating a few lbs. So far on my journey I haven't had much difficulty, except for the 3 week stall at 3 weeks out. I can eat pretty much anything I want and I was still able to loose. I am looking for suggestions to start really working on jump starting my weight loss again and start focusing more on myself. I have started to exercise a few times a week and I am trying to drink more water. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

    Three Weeks Post Op Stall

Very typical. 3 week stall (Google it) But if you take some measurements, you're likely shifting, losing inches during this time, so pat yourself on the back for a job well done!!! HW 370, SW 350, SD 6/20/17

    First Major Stall

I am totally with you. I am about 15 weeks out and have been on a very frustrating 3 week stall. I dont feel like I've changed my diet or exercise other than maybe I should be working out 5-6 days a week instead of 3-4. I also get in about 30-40g of protein a day and am wondering if that's affecting my diet and hair loss. Keep up the good work so far!!
  7. Well I thought I may avoid the 3 week stall but it was just a little late coming. I stalled at around 5 weeks and I'm 7 weeks out today with no loss the last 2. I'm wondering how long the stall lasted for everyone else ? I know mine may be a little longer because I'm only 12lbs from goal but I wanted to get some ideas. Thanks !

    Weight loss stall

I'm in the same exact position!Sleeved 3/27 and lost about 26lbs but now I'm stuck. Apparently there is a "3 week stall" that happens to a lot of people. I'm hoping it passes real soon.
  11. I am curious, maybe a little disappointed, but I promised myself I would NEVER write about a stall. Well technically, I'm not. This is my three week weigh in. I expected no or very little loss based on what I have read here. I started solids last Wednesday and knew I've been consuming more calories, maybe 500-800 daily. My weigh in this morning shows a 2 lb gain. Has this happened to others? I know I am a slow loser. I lost 5.5 lbs during my liquid diet and 8.5 over the next two weeks. I read where many lose upwards of 25 lbs during that time. I am patient, but I can't imagine a gain.. Has anyone else experienced this? My Dr did make me throw away my hydrochlorothiazide which is a diuretic, could this be the cause? I have consumed a lot of ham/cheese roll ups this week as a source of Protein and low calories, maybe the salt is causing Fluid retention? (TMI) Also having a constipation issue. Using benefiber without any real relieve yet. Any suggestions? . Words of encouragement anyone ?

    Falling Into The Stall Trap

i had a 3 week stall that was driving me nuts. First I thought I was eating too much(don't know how that's possible) then I thought I was eating too little. So, I upped my Protein and Water and now the scale has started moving again. I think my body thought I was starving. I guess I should expect this to happen often on this journey. Just don't give up hope! Kris

    Slow Loser?

You are having the 3 week stall. Perfectly normal. Read the link in my sig, it will explain why you are stalling. You are still burning fat, but you are restoring your glycogen reserves, and that means also retaining Water. It will break on its own very soon.
  14. I lost what I thought was rapidly for the first 2 weeks, (16 pounds in 17 days) and then I hit the dreaded 3 week stall - which is where I sit currently. It seems it is different for everyone.
  15. If you haven't had the 3 week stall yet, it may be that as well. Search the site for 3 week stall for more info.
  16. I have had my 3 week stall.

    Burning pain from left incision

Me as well, skinnyagain. Very odd. Pain comes and goes. Think it's when we over do it or something. Also, I think I have hit the so called "3 week stall." haven't lost anymore in 3-4 days. How's it going on your end?
  18. I am preop still too and trying to lose some before surgery because I am impatient and want to feel better NOW! I've lost 25 lbs in the past 3 months, not nearly as fast as I will lose after surgery, but I try to view each pound off as a gift. It's incredibly hard for me to lose any weight by dieting - hence the reason I am going for something as drastic as surgery and I am sure the same is true for you. If it came off easy, we wouldn't need the surgery! Have you been using anything like myFitnessPal to track your food & weight? I have, and it's been very interesting to see all the crazy ups and downs and how it rarely makes any sense. I have 2-3 week stalls even when I am doing everything right. And then I might have a big loss after splurging and eating very badly. Go figure. But - the main thing is overall I am 25 lbs better off than I was before. I can drive myself a bit crazy weighing every day but I can't seem to make myself stop that 40 year habit. You are 11 lbs lighter and healthier than you were a month ago! That's something to Celebrate. And you lost that in 2 weeks, so your body is just pausing and doing a little "hey, what's going on here?" bit and needs a little more time to get used to the changes. Don't go back to your old habits because that will guarantee that you don't lose any more and you will likely gain back quickly what you've worked so hard to lose. Hang in there. If you are eating healthier than you were before and are feeling more energetic and better overall, then try not to sweat too much about what the scale says. Knowing I will have surgery soon and will have that HUGE help to get the rest of the weight off and hopefully keep it off the rest of my life, helps me obsess a little less when I don't see progress for a couple of weeks.
  19. As the title says, I hit my 3 week stall about 2 days ago. I have been through this before, so I know not to check my weight for a week now. The stalls are the worst part of all this, and as time goes on, they get longer and longer. But I've already been to this dance, so at least I know what to expect. My gerd is getting bad. I had to go up to 40mg every day and see how that works (going to every other day caused issues, so today starts every day again). I was really hoping that I would be able to get off PPI with this revision, but so far, no. At least I've gone from 80mg daily to 40. If I could get down to maybe 20mg I could learn to be ok with it. I guess time will tell. I was given the ok to try some ground turkey and HOLY CRAP I FOUND THE RESTRICTION!!!!!! I can eat scrambled eggs, avocado, hummus, refried beans, even cheese cubes....nothing. But I had 2 tbsp of ground turkey and HOLY MOTHER OF GOD there was ALL KINDS of restriction!!!!! I've never had this before. It's awesome!!!! I was told my stomach is the size of a golf ball, and I found it hard to believe before, but oh man I believe it now!!!
  20. Yep - I had the dreaded 3 week stall. Stayed on plan and it worked itself out. That’s seems to be a pattern, I stall, stay in plan and evaluate am I really on plan and continue on / tweak as needed. Still in a stall/slight gain but was starting to see movement but now between the weather impacting my main exercise of walking (stupid unhealthy smoke from NW fires) and now an emergency gallbladder removal surgery it may last a little longer. You’ve got this!!!
  21. Search up "3 week stall." This stall varies in length but will break. Continue on track and before you know it, the scale will start to drop. Mine lasted about 10 days. There will be more stalls throughout your journey.
  22. I had vsg on 3/31 and on surgery day was 227 today I am at 202 [emoji20] Sometimes I feel a little discouraged, but then remember everyone is different and everyones plan is different. My surgeons plan has us on soft foods within 2 day. Liquids are only in the hospital, I left the hospital eating greek yogurt, cottage cheese and stuff like that. The one thing I am hoping for is that since weight loss is slower but steady, maybe I wont lose much hair, lol. Just follow your dr's plan and let your tool do it's work. Just think in 6 months if you lose steadily you will be down at least 50 lbs. Dont sweat the stalls either, I had an almost 3 week stall about 9 days after surgery, that was a little torture on the mind, but it also passed. Good Luck on your journey!! 23. So with the exception of the 3 week stall I've been rockin my sleeve! Between thanksgiving and New year's eve I lost almost 20lbs. Then I started doing Zumba and I've hit a wall. Nothing major but ill be 11 weeks post op tomorrow and I'm just wondering if the exercise has put my body into some kind of shock or if I'm heading into a stall or something. I haven't gone 5 days without losing anything since early on. With regard to stalls , (which I understand are normal), I'm curious about what's typical. I am 5'5 started at about 250lbs. Three week stall with tiny losses until about 6 weeks. Then 5 weeks of non stop awesome loss. Now stuck at 201.2-201.7 lbs. For 5 days. Just curious about your thoughts on my progress and where I should go from here. If I am heading into an actual stall, how long does it usually last at this point? Also, I am about 1 week away from TOM. Thanks

  25. okay y'all. tomorrow on the 18th i'll be exactly a month post op. which is exciting for the most part. im in that annoying 3 weeks stall first of all which ive been reading about lately. i saw my doctor last week which he said was early to have an appointment but they set it up so i went anyway. he told me i wasnt getting enough calories per day. im supposed to be having atleast 1000 a day he said by now but i've only been having like 300 a day. as everyone who has had this surgery they know what i mean when they dont actually feel hunger anymore. which is still super weird to me. but almost every single time i eat i vomit. it doesn't hurt that bad i just know that its weird and i dont like it lol someone please if you have any advice on something i can do to get proper nutrition in without vomitting everytime i eat that would be awesome. i've been lacking on my Protein shakes but i'm working on it. any advice would be appreciated.
