I lost an entire shoe size! Was not expecting that

I have been having pain in my hip for several years. Since I have rheumatoid arthritis I wanted to have a base line X-rays and MRI. I have had several MRI's in my life. In the past it was very painful small. Well as I laid on the bed I thought to myself wow I am going to enter the tube and have no issues. I went in and still had plenty of room to move around and be comfortable. As I laid there I thought about my year of post op victories and I was amazed at my accomplishments and how much I have changed. I came out of the tube smiling! Celebrate your victories big or small they seem!

I have lost almost 70 pounds now... I went from a 26 to a loose 16 now... I still was not seeing it... But..... This morning, as I was hugging my daughter, she said Mommy, you may not see it but look, she said I could never get my arms all the way around you. Now not only can I get them around you but look I can grab my wrist too!! With tears I said, WOW, I guess I have lost some... & what a great way to have finally opened my eyes to see it but with a great big hug from my daughter!!!! I do not think there will be another NSV that can top that one (for me anyway)

Nsvs Galore At The Doctor Today!
LB4Me replied to Jenn1214's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Feels good doesn't it. My favorite NSVs are at the doctor's office too. -
Awesome, NSV! I am down to 36 dd. They measure me at 34 c, but I find they squash my flabby boobs, 36 dd makes the most of the flab without me falling out!(from 2 kids, 100 lbs, and 64 years of age).

So I lost 100 lbs!
IncredibleShrinkingMan replied to krista132's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Between my two-week pre-op and the three months (and change) since surgery, I have lost 90 lbs. I am almost even a little thankful for the present stall in which I find myself, because it could only make the progress healthier and more sustainable. That is by far my proudest victory. But the NSVs are countless...the biggest one being making good on the promise I made to myself to one day wear college-era clothes again that have since been boxed up in the attic. Congratulations on your century mark! See you in Onederland soon! -
Wow, what a great NSV! I am so happy for you and excited that you got to share in that moment with your hubby as well.

My first NSV and it is personal and TMI
want2besleeved87 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am 3 weeks post op today and while I was in the shower this morning I had no problem washing my back side as I once did 3 weeks ago. I have never shared this with any other soul and I must say I feel wonderful. Even though I dnt see any loss I feel a little different. Sorry if this was to much info I needed to share -
I'm spending Labor Day weekend with DH at a lovely old restored hotel. The mirror in the room is a skinny mirror! It's slightly distorted and makes me look 5'9 and 140 lbs instead of 5'4 and 192 LOL. Gives me a glimpse of what the future holds...wish I could take it home with me, but it's screwed to the wall...heehee

What are your NSG's (Non Scale Goals)?
ProudGrammy replied to angierue's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
@@angierue i walked between 2 cars that were parked very close to each other there was very little room, but then again, so was I (little i mean ) nothing like a good ol' NSV to put a smile on your face kathy -
Last night I went roller skating. (That in itself is an Nsv) some friends wanted pictures for Facebook. When I looked at the pics, my first response was "Holy crap! When did I get a normal-sized face?!" I now have a visible neck and a slimmer face! I love this band!!

I think this is as good a place as any to start writing down the NSV as I notice them. I am only 3 weeks out and I have already noticed a few. 1. I flew to my sisters wedding in CO and I was perfectly comfortable in the plane seat. I have never really needed a seat belt extender but I have definitely been very uncomfortable in the seat with the seatbelt tight around me. This time I had some play in the seat belt and could comfortably sit for the whole trip not feeling like I was packed into the seat. 2. At my sisters wedding I danced! My uncle told me it was the first time he had seen me letting go and having fun in the 20 years he's known me. Now whether that's from the weight loss or my new hubby of 2 years, who knows? Doesn't really matter...what matters is I danced!! 3. Apparently I have totally stopped snoring! I meantioned to my husband that I will probably stop snoring and he said, "Oh you haven't snored the past few nights." I guess he didn't realize he was supposed to alert me to this stuff...LOL 4. On Thursday I went to my doctor appt and while we were sitting there waiting I looked down and realized I had sat down and crossed my legs....Like REALLY crossed my legs like a lady!! And I didn't even realize it! That's all I've noticed so far, but I'm really trying to pay attention since I think some of the NSV just slip past unnoticed. But I know when I hit those stall weeks that I will need to be able to look back and see all the things that have nothing to do with the scale.

Today I went to the mall, which I tend to not do very often because it is SO much easier to just order things online, however I don't fit into some of my size 4's and 6's any more and I needed at least one new pair of dress pants and a new pair of jeans. So, I went into banana Republic, where a size 2 petite was just a smidge loose on me (YAY!). Then I went into Express, where I could really do some damage to my credit card, and the size 2 dress pants I have been ogling online actually fit perfectly (DOUBLE YAY!). Sadly enough I couldn't find a dress jacket because my arms and shoulders fit into the 2, except the button wouldn't close until I tried on the 8, which was then too big everywhere else (thank-you boobs). Yes, woe is me, I'd have been grateful to be in an 8 2 years ago when I couldn't even shop in that store. The best part of my day though was in American Eagle, where yes I am probably too old to still be wearing their jeans, I tried on a size 0, just for kicks and giggles, and holy cow it fit!!! (TRIPLE YAY) In my entire life I have never fit into a size 0 and I am beyond ecstatic. I seriously almost danced around the dressing room. So...thank-you to whoever came up with the brilliant idea to cut out 80% of our stomachs. Much as I have days where I don't feel like I look that great or I see my plastic surgery scars and feel ashamed....today is not one of those days. Days like today make all the misery of the sleeve surgery and the plastics recovery and the frequent puking my stomach causes so completely worth it. Thanks for listening, y'all.

What a NSV! Congratulations and keep up the fantastic work!

Just wanted to share what was a surprise NSV for me. For the first time in probably 15 years, I wore out an article of clothing. For countless years, I outgrew everything before it wore out, then I was losing weight and too small for my clothes. Now three years post RNY, my weight is stable. It was really odd but a victory when something was worn out, stretched and faded and needed to be discarded.

I think this is a NSV... Today my hubby insisted on getting a Mac Donalds - it was a hangover cure for him... yea, whatever! 18mths ago, with no movement on the scales for 5 weeks, I would have joined him saying 'what the hell, this stupid diet isn't working' and gorged myself on a Big Mac Meal - or whatever they are called! Today, however, I did not. The smell made me feel sick. The look of the food made my stomach turn. The whole idea of eating that sh*t and paying good money for it repulsed me. I have never looked at food in that way before. I am soooo proud of myself as I have been a little down and stressed lately that I didn't use food as a comfort and a friend. Instead, I have the sleeve and my health as my friend and they are both nicer!!

This made me laugh out loud and really made my day. I know I still float! I made a long, long list of about 100 NSV's that I anticipate to achieve and I'll have to add this to the list. I'm going to mark them off with the date I achieved them. I've been around Water my whole life and was a swim instructor and life guard and always been a good floater! I can't wait to SINK for once in my life! Thanks for sharing this NSV, NMJG Carol

I used to float around the pool on my back. Discovered yesterday during my first swim of the season that I sink now. Can't float! My ballast is gone! I just think this is so funny.

I am officially 7 months post surgery and am incredibly happy with my progress so far. I'm down 122.4 lbs total, and 80.8 since surgery. A few of my NSVs: - The arthritis in my knees causes significantly less pain - I am walking 2 miles most days, and hiking when I get the chance (up to 6 or more miles) - My strength and endurance is increasing. I still get winded and need to take breaks (especially on inclines) but there's no way I could have done some of the hikes I'm doing pre-surgery. - I'm down from a tight 2X to a L or XL. - I have collarbones again Below pics is from shortly after I started my journey (pre-surgery) to this morning.

I laughed....I had this notion he was going to grab you and hug you tightly..... So glad about your NSV...Write them down so that you can remember them Keep them coming!
