    Greek yogurt:( yuck !

It takes me an hour to eat a greek yogurt, and I'm pre-op. I just dip my spoon in it and lick it off. I'm slowly training my buds to like it. Something about the texture I just don't care for.

    Introduction to new "foods"

I'm on the pureed stage now and even super soft foods have been hit and miss. I tried an egg on the first day and it felt like it sat heavy in my stomach. Had one last night though and it tasted great and went down easy this time. Anything new I'm really leery about. Even if I can manage 4 oz of food I limit new things. It does seem like I've had a tougher time with dairy products than other foods. I've always loved yogurt but post-op it was difficult to eat some days. Today I had a Greek yogurt for Breakfast and it went down much easier than one I tried a few days ago.

    4 weeks post op

I am eating cooked veggies, chicken, cottage cheese, yogurt, nuts, beans, eggs, fish and shrimp. So far, I have tolerated everything well. Baked sweet potatoes are a good think to try, as they cook up nice and soft. Eggs are good to try also, but not everybody does well with eggs. Refried beans are good also. They are nice and soft, have fiber and protein.

I am going to try my protein shake instead of the yogurt this morning. Praying things don't go sour

    Introduction to new "foods"

Maybe buy an Oikos drinkable yogurt. The strawberry one is delicious. Yougurt is heavy though. Maybe it's best to stick to protein shakes for now. The premier ones from Costco are super tasty.

    Feeling discouraged

I have the same issues. I hardly eat at all, drink very little, take in no protein and no vitamins. I do have several medical issues going on but I would definitely keep in contact with your nutritionist. There is also a new yogurt out packed full of protein. Best of Luck.
  7. I am afraid to try new foods after tonight. Tomorrow I am on full liquids. I tried to make drinkable yogurt with Greek yogurt and Fairlife milk. I had about a tsp. of it and my tummy twisted and turned in an unhappy manner.

    Band for the new year!

I was banded in October and I'm losing 10 pounds a month. I do weigh more than you. I count calories and track my food. I eat high Protein and low carb. Example Greek FF yogurt, 1 Splenda sweetener, some blueberries for Breakfast. lunch and dinner chili or Soup or salad with protein and a veggie. I stay around 1000 calories a day. Sometimes I go to 1300, but that is special occasion. I still struggle to exercise consistently. I'm happy with my band.

    My experience

You shouldn't have yogurt or applesauce till your dr clears you for puréed foods. If you have them you will possibly slow down your healing and set yourself back.

    My experience

I had my sleeve the 8th of February. I'm actually feeling said. I was 220 now I'm 209. But I can't even be happy because I feel weak and sick. I drink like 3-4 gulps of the shake but it so I satisfying. If I laugh sneeze or anything of this sort my right side hurts a lot. And the stomachs on the left. But it's not even that pain I think that is getting to me it's the hunger. Oh I would like to mention this aswell my doctor gave me a patch for my ear for vomiting. I have not vomitted once. But I stoped it because I herd it can make your vision bad and I've been experience this. I'm worried. I have a question all my doctors paper says is for three weeks all I can have is jello broth popsicle water and protein shake. I have broth once a day. Popsicle maybe twice. Jello maybe every other day. My question is if I have low fat yogurt or sugar free apple sauce will something bad happen to me.
  12. I'm half-way through the puree stage, and very ready to be over it! I'm doing yogurt, cottage cheese, string cheese (chew it really well), refried Beans with salsa and cheese, ricotta with marinara and cheese, pureed great northern beans and cauliflower with pesto, and tuna with mayo and pickle juice. this week I found a white chicken chili recipe and a turkey chili recipe I plan on trying. Also, I have Campbell's Broccoli Cheese or Tomato Soup in a pinch. I tried scrambled eggs plain and with cottage cheese, and also pureed deviled eggs, but those all felt really heavy in my sleeve. Tasted good, though. I can't bring myself to puree meat- I've just been looking for things that are supposed to be that texture.
  13. I was sleeved May 23rd... I'm down 61 lbs. I know I couldnt have ever dreamed of doing that pre-sleeve... but I also imagined myself much further along by now. I've been stuck for a few weeks now... I had been adding granola to my yogurt which I since quit... and I'm back to logging and weighing as of today. I have 23 to go to get to ONEderland... I pray I get there. I'm trying hard not to get depressed...I feel like I eat so little that I cant believe I'm in this situation. How many cals/protein is normal at 9 months? Any advice is appreciated- EJ

    Any puréed food ideas

When I was on the pureed stage I ate cottage cheese, yogurt, scrambled eggs, refried Beans with a little bit of light sour cream... or you could put a little cheese on them. And the thing that I ate the most of was canned chicken that I would mash with a fork (my nutritionist said I didn't have to put it in the blender).... and I would add a little lowfat mayo to the chicken and make a chicken salad out of it. You could also do mashed sweet potatoes, mashed carrots or mashed potatoes. I didn't eat much of the last 3 things, mainly because I was concentrating on getting that Protein in. And I always pass this along because it's great tasting and you can have it on the pureed food stage. A recipe for ricotta bake can be found here: theworldaccordingtoeggface.blogspot.com She has a whole area of pureed food recipes... she is a former WLS patient with a great success story.

    Failure

I'm am so tired of fake sugar it drives me crazy. My shakes turned into iced coffee and a couple scoops of the powder protien. I can mentally handle that much better. The thought of soup, yogurt and milk makes me ill. It's all about baby steps and one thing at a time from what I can tell so far. Sent from my SM-G935V using BariatricPal mobile app

    Lunch ideas

Avocado, shredded chicken, string cheese, tuna, yogurt, almonds; there is a Chinese place near my work that has great Teriyaki chicken that's low sodium and low carb, I'll eat that a la carte for a treat. I also really like having soup for lunch. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Panic Attacks?

you are not far out so don't put so much pressure on yourself. be gentle think of what you would tell someone else who came to you with the issue. try Protein Water. I don't really like the taste but water it down half and half and can take it in. keep trying different kinds of Protein drinks in different flavors also. you will find one that you can stand ( remember that anytime you try a new food it takes several times to start liking it so it is the same with protein drinks. also get unflavoured protein and HIDE it in your Soups or yogurt etc. several other suggestions that helped me. when I was alone and bored is when I would binge on food so now it is when I start to have a pity party or ruminate on problems. I am finding distractions to help. call someone and talk=take a bubble bath- get out in nature and walk= play with kids or pets even if you have to borrow them-do puzzles ( crossword work search or jig saw) learn a craft or new card game. listen to music ( upbeat ) and sing along to the top of your lungs. listen to meditation or stress reduction tapes ( there are lots on u tube for free) there are tons more ideas you can do to keep the crazy monkey chatter in your mind. remember we are all here for you also. also consider a therapy session or two if it continues for long. good luck to you

    Two weeks post-op

I'm in the last few days of my first two weeks and I'm so sick of protein drinks I could scream. I arranged something with an Indian restaurant near my house. They will be making me puréed dishes with no seeds, high protein low carb and fats for the next few weeks. I just picked up some cheesecloth for making paneer (yogurt cheese) and plan to stop at Trader Joe's for some Thai and Indian sauces and tofu. No puréed chicken breast for me!!!! Anyone anxious about new food?

Chicken Caesar is good but the chewing is essential. I think it will be long term with the chewing unless we are really stretching out that hole between the stomach and intestine. I get what you means that its weird and sometimes gross, but with the salad i dont feel like it is gross. I tried a piece of breakfast sausage this morning and could barely take it after a few bites. Never again. My favorites still remain -- retried beans and lean beef chili with pinto beans and Greek yogurt. I'm okay with this after trying new things and not enjoying them at all. 8 1/2 months out...

@Brenda818 I have days where I am hungrier than others. I am much hungrier than I was in the beginning. I had been using a calorie goal of 600-800 until about 2 months ago and was famished until my nutritionist told me I should be at 1000-1200 now (oops haha). I'm trying to eat more Protein and raw veggies now which helps with the hunger. I was eating things like popcorn and such but I feel like those are slider foods. I still have them but not as often. I wasn't eating enough veggies according to my nutritionist but I wasn't eating them because they felt harder to digest. Eating them though has helped with my hunger. I will eat some raw veggies with dip I made from plain greek yogurt mixed with a dry ranch dressing packet. It helps up my protein but keeps it in my calorie range. I find that I get FAMISHED every time I work out though. It is really annoying. My surgeon suggested I eat protein and carbs before and after my work out to try and help with my hunger, It has helped a little but I still get pretty hungry.

    Pureed Stage

Good afternoon When I was on the pureed stage I had scrambled eggs and you don't have to blend them, just small, slow bites. Also, cottage cheese, refried Beans with either a little light sour cream or melted cheese on them. Yogurt, canned chicken or tuna mixed with a little light mayo or yogurt to make a chicken or tuna salad. I ate a lot of chicken salad. You can also have mashed sweet potatoes or potatoes, but I didn't eat much of that because I wanted to keep my carbs to a minimum and always go for my Protein first. Also, you can have homemade ricotta bake on the pureed stage and I made it and it was wonderful. This website has the recipe for it: theworldaccordingtoeggface.blogspot.com She had WLS and has a great website with recipes on the pureed stage.

    Calcium

I ended up going with the Upcal dissolving calcium powder, I was a little hesitant at first but glad I did because you really do not notice it at all! It's a very fine tasteless powder and I put a scoop in my protein shake, mix into yogurt and even in water and you cannot tell it's there. I don't like the chewy stuff that gets stuck in your teeth so this works for me Sent from my SM-G900T using the BariatricPal App
