Well bandsters I started, Jillian Micheal's Body revolution on Saturday, July 27th. My goal is to be at my ideal body weight of 132 by the end of this 90 day training session. I am also going to continue to work out with my trainer 3 days a week for a while. I find it so addictive and difficult to break up with him. He is so motivational and pushes me to do more. My other goal is to cut back on training sessions by the end of this session with my DVD's so I will have more money for clothes. I will log my progress here weekly, so stay tuned. ( I am posting this so I will be accountable, out there for the world to see) Starting weight: 140 Waist: 30" Bust:( upper chest) 36" Below Bust: 33" Lower Abdomen: 36 2/8" Hips: 36 6/8" Thighs: (Largest Part) 21" Calf: 13 7/8 " Upper Arm: 11 7/8 " I will do my measurements and weight every Sunday for the next 90 days to follow my progress.

Find a new doctor who will support your weight loss surgery, my doctor was very happy for me when I told her I wanted to have WLS as she should be because she knows how hard I was struggling with trying to lose weight on my own and all of my medical issues. You pay him not the other way around...just my opinion because I’m a no nonsense person, I have no problem changing if they are not supporting me...the insurance company has enough requirements, you don’t need more on top of that. maybe others here have some better suggestions. I wish you the best!

I am so excited- 1st my almost mother-in-law saw me today & the 1st thing she said was "oh my goodness! You've lost so much weight! Your melting away before us!" I LOVE hearing those things=-) Next we all went out shopping (mostly for fiancee) & I looked at myself in a full length mirror-I couldnt believe it-this had been the 1st time I had seen myself in a full length mirror for a long LONG time-and I was truely amazed-I actually liked looking at myself!Usually I hate even looking at myself in a half-length mirror! Later that night I decided to be daring- I bought some lingerie & those see through high heels (aka "stripper shoes").I tried it on for Matt-he was floored! To say the least!!!LOL I felt so beautiful, and not just because he was drooling- I felt beautiful-in my own skin-for once. I am so happy =-) ~Heather

Asthma or allergies improve?
kagead replied to Northern Mist's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Will be following replies to this thread. I have allergies and fairly severe asthma, too. The asthma always improves when I am good about exercise and my allergist is certain it will improve with weight loss. Hoping she is right! kagead -
Asthma or allergies improve?
Northern Mist replied to Northern Mist's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My asthma is triggered primarily by allergens. Colds and the flu always end up being difficult to get over because they go right into my chest and stay there. Sometimes exercise and being too hot will do it too. I would say over the last two years my asthma has worsened considerably as well as my allergies. They always told me I would "grow" out of it. I've had it my entire life - when am I going to grow out of it!?! I have tried all sorts of remedies - all natural, over the counter and prescription drugs. Thank god for inhalers and nebulizers! At least the doctors and allergists know alot more now than they knew when I was young. The drugs, side effects and treatments used to be near torture for me. I am looking forward to losing the weight and imagine that alone will make breathing a little easier! -
went on vacation for three weeks I was so scared that I would gain weight. I will admit I did have a few stuck incidents because I eat dinner at friends homes and did not want to tell them about my band. I had to throw up a few times also because of not chewing enough. On the whole it was not to bad I did lose three pounds on my journey but I need to be more carful. I am glad to be home so that I can cook my own meals. I am usually a stronger person but eating out for three weeks was difficult. Anyway just thought I would share it might help other people to plan better than I did. I had my band put on May 24th. God Bless

Not eating at home is one of the biggest challenges for a bandster. Try to remember the band is a tool... And if you don't use it properly it will not work. Eating out and or at friends homes can work if you maintain portion control. If you are worried about it just quietly tell your friend you are dieting or watching your calorie intake and portions so while you know her cooking is delicious you may not eat as much as she is planning for. Problem solved. Congratulations on managing to lose weight on vacation...not matter how much. That's wonderful.

I have my first fill tomorrow and I'm terrified.........
nesser081982 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
that I'll have gained weight. I've been able to eat soft/regular type food, and I'm sooo scared that I'll go in and find out that I gained ten or twenty pounds. Did anyone gain weight before their first fill? Don't get me wrong, I haven't been binging or anything like that. I eat nowhere even close to what I used to, it's just all different stuff not just liquid now. So now I'm scared. It's strange, I used to not care if I gained weight, now I'm crossing my fingers and toes that I don't! -
Sometimes right after surgery the weight loss stalls while your body heals. Don't give up.... I ate 1000 calories for 23 months to lose my weight...even through the stalls. It will come off!!!

I'm looking for a weeks food schedule that I can try to help me lose weight. I have lost 66lbs in four months, but the weight is coming off slow lately. I don't think I'm eating right.

How long until you're back to work?
AlienBandit replied to lyndeeboo's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was banded on a Saturday and went back to work on the Monday. I never told my employer because I live in Korea and things are different here. If I told them, they would have told me I am not allowed to get the surgery done. I do have sick days but it is like pulling teeth to get a day off. ANYWAYS so I had my surgery and went back to work on the Monday. It was not hard to see something was wrong but I just said I hurt myself at the gym and people left it at that. My one co worker knew in case of an emergency. I think if you take a week off work you can return to work fine the next week. I didn't tell my friends and a week after surgery went drinking with them ( Water for me) and no one was the wiser. Say your visiting sick family or someone is visiting from another country etc. It really isn't anyones business why your gone. As for when you come back, for me at least my week 2 diet was mushies so it was easy to look almost normal eating lunches etc. Again if anyone asks say you got sick while you were gone, have a sore throat and am eating simple things for your stomach. Once you start to lose weight you can say you started at the gym, made a bet with a friend to who loses the most weight in a year etc. Good luck with everything -
Oh my gosh, lost another 7 pounds!
hautemama posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Wow, after a really really rough start, the weight is just flying off. I lost another 7 pounds in the past 4 days. I'm 16 days post op and doing well with soft foods. No more dry heaves, very mild nausea- mostly in the night. I feel so much better and really great about losing 30 pounds since the surgery. Today I walked 4 miles! I haven't done that in years. Sorry to brag, I'm just so shocked that this is happening for me. After years of trying diets and failing to lose weight- this feels so great. Love you guys! Hautemama -
It is good you are doing research before getting any weight loss surgery. I think reading the posts here, both the success and the complications, will help you in your decision process. Just as news of a car accident does not prevent you from getting in a car and driving, though, news of a complication should not necessarily prevent you from taking steps to improve your health. Make a cost/benefit analysis of your individual situation. Good luck!

How many people got the lab band and didn't lose anything??
-
And as a tool, just make sure you are getting the right tool for the job. Just as a hammer is useless when you need a screwdriver, the band minght not work if you have something else causing your weight problems. I was banded, but didn't lose weight to speak of, 20 pounds is hardly a loss. But if I hadn't been banded, I am convinced that my brain tumor would have never been found.

I had surgery on July 22, 2013 and have gone from a 18-20W to a regular and I still have my stomach. Why rush? We did not gain the weight over night it won't come off over night. Feeling sexy is a mind set that shows in the look. Work on your 25 pounds and stay positive.

I gained 3 pounds : ( My surgery date was 12/21 SW 241. I weighed 207 last Thursday And now I weigh 210. I am not on my period or expecting it. I eat about 900 calories a day 75 grams of Protein. I try not to eat refined flour or sugar. I don't work out but I'm going to start tomorrow -lifting weights and soul cycle. Has anyone ever had this happen? Is it unrealistic for me to be freaking out about this? I'm grateful for any advice or experience!
