I have knowledge about this. I have lost my drive. We have been married for almost 44 years and had a very active sex life!! Up until about 5 years ago. I do have a thought about why....My hubby had a failed revision back in 2013, He was very sick for 9 months and 3 of them he doesn't remember. At that time he was in and out of his mind. Well, I took care of him and now I can not get past being a care provider for him. I don't see him as my lover. Now don't get me wrong we are very much in love. And neither of us can see ourselves without the other. I have talked to my Dr about this and she told me that she hesitates to give me an anxiety meds because they tend to suppress the desire even more. So when my hubby and I talked he said, he would rather not have sex he would rather have me well. It is so HARD and I do feel guilty because I have ZIP for desire!! He is ready teddy too. Good luck I hope you find something to help. When you do kick down some info.

Omg... yes! I have not posted in ages but I saw this and wanted to let you know that the same thing has been going on with me. I have been suffering from body pain as well. It is hard for me to do most things on a daily basis. I feel extremely weak as well. I have not required a blood transfusion but I did come up low on bloodwork so I am anemic and have low iron and hemoglobin. I only started having these issues after gastric bypass. I originally had gastric sleeve in 2012 and did not feel this way. I had to have a revision last year in 2016 due to severe gerd and I have regreted it ever since.

I'm currently waiting on the call for my band to sleeve revision date. Woop! Woop! I met with my nutritionist yesterday, and she said that they require patients to use the Bariatric Advantage shakes for the 10 day pre-op liquid diet. So I would like to get feed back on the best flavors please [emoji5] Sent from my SM-N920V using BariatricPal mobile app

Hello everyone! I had my lapband put in February 10, 2017 and I have lost close to 25 pounds and now I've completely stalled. I had a fill last month and I finally experienced lapband tightness. I could not get water down, let alone food. I had two visits worth of fluid taken out due to the tightness last month and now I'm able to eat a little more. It's been so frustrating because my weight has gone up to 203. I know I have to be patient and it'll fluctuate but this is so discouraging. I'm going in for a fill this Thursday and I'm ready to see if I can get it taken out completely or get a revision. I don't know what to do. I'm so confused at this point.

Wanting to talk with someone that's had this done
EW11211 replied to KikiSue🙋🏼's topic in Endoscopic Sleeve Gastroplasty Forum
Even with the VSG, weight loss is slower with low BMI https://www.bariatricpal.com/index.php?/topic/399645-Gastric-Sleeve---BMI-31 When I was debating what to do these are the points that helped me decide: * I have a family that I am responsible for, 10% risk vs 1% is too high for me * I am doing for health reasons I will be happy with a size 8-10. I don't want to be a size 4 * I didn't want to be off from work for for 4-6 weeks * people loose a lot of weight with VSG, sometimes too much. I know of a person that did it for 40 lbs. He looks sick. * even if I have to do a revision to the ESG, that I understood it is possible if needed after a couple of years, I would do it again instead of doing the VSG. Revision
SIPS in Seattle replied to debbie1555's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
You can always consult with a different surgeon. My surgeon that banded me is not the same surgeon who revised me. The only reason I changed surgeons though was location. I sure as heck wouldn't use a surgeon that I didn't like! Band to SIPS/SA-DI/LOOP DS 8.8.17 HT: 5'6ish HW: 242 SW: 226 CW: 210 GW: Healthy -
Trying to change but unsure what to do....
Pauliegroup replied to PositiveChanger's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
If you are near Chicago you should see suburban Surgical Associates part of Kane baristric center. I had the band in 2008 and did great until about 2014. Then weight came back. I had a revision last month. Gastric Sleeve. Dr. Paul Guske did both procedures. Go see him. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N920A using BariatricPal mobile app -
I was banded in 2012. I have not had any success with it at all. The first 6 weeks I lost 20 pounds but every since it's been a struggle. I am now above my start weight and miserable. I am wanting to do a revision surgery but I don't even know where to start. I don't really like my doctor but I guess I am going to have to start with him.

I had the sleeve in 2010 and 7 years later just had (six weeks ago and a cpl days) the revision to bypass (as well as removal of my gallbladder). I've already lost quite a bit of weight (over 40 lbs now). It wasn't for medical issues the sleeve didnt work as much as I failed the sleeve by not taking better care of myself. My sleeve had not stretched out terribly bad but I was at my presurgery weight from 2010 and disgusted with myself. I needed a tool to help me get on track and I also have had four years (and ongoing still) of therapy to help me deal with the underlying issues of how I got where I am today. I am at the struggle point of getting enough water and protein while cautiously trying to reintroduce foods. It has been much harder physically this time but it's also a much bigger procedure. I'll help anyway I can!

I am about 5 years out from having my sleeve. I did not lose the weight that I would have thought I would lose. The doc even had me do a few tests to see if I had something going on in my esophagus and gut. Everything was good. I recently went to a new Bariatric surgeons office. Upon talking to them I am being told that I am one of those who bc of diabetes I am having hard time shedding the lbs. I should have gotten a bi pass. Because I am diabetic I am eligible to have a revision. Most likely a bipass. I am going thru the motions, being tested and have 6 months to make up my mind. Is there any one else out there who may be going thru this as well?

Gym or no gym, that is the question
shedo82773 replied to AZBlackhawk's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Hi, I just typed a whole paragraph and lost it. BOMB gone. So here I go again. I had my RNY July 2, 2013. I lost my weight in 6 months (I weigh between 125-130) I have maintained my loss for 3 and 1/2 years. Because I had a few problems with Strictures and my hubby's failed revision from his Lap Band to a RNY. Which he almost died. He developed abscesses. He was so sick for 9 months and 3 of them he doesn't remember. So Tersigni called us "PROBLEM KIDS"! He actually dropped my hubby wouldn't see him. We are so thankful that our PCP pulled in a favor with a Surgeon here in Roseburg. He put in a wound vac and he immediately started getting better. The whole ordeal was awful. I now go to OREGON SCIENCE AND HEALTH UNIVERSITY. For everything. My hubby finally a year ago this June went to Juarez, Mexico. He ended up getting a Sleeve. But his heart and mine really wish he could have had his RNY. The weight is coming off so much slower than mine did. But...at least he lost enough to have his (kidney cancer) procedure done. Life is great!! BTW I live in Roseburg, Oregon. Which isn't but 90 miles from l us. How do you like living in California? We lived there for awhile (Ukiah) but...Oregon is just our home. It is exciting to meet someone that also had the same DR. Plus our journey has been real close. I had mine in July 2013 and yours was July 2013 also. Yes, this is a very small world. I would love to keep in touch with you. I will give you my email ifyou are interested just let me know. Have a wonderful day!! -
Gastric Sleeve to gastric bypass
KarenInOz replied to Tina Marie Pecchillo's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Hey..yes you will have to go through the stages and if anything it is stricter than the sleeve.. I had my revision on 29/7 for reflux and weight gain and I'm happy to say I've had no reflux since surgery. I have to take a Zoton tablet before bed for 3-6 months so whether that is controlling it or the surgery I'm not sure, but when I was in hospital I wasn't taking anything..[emoji4] -

Revision from band to sleeve
SIPS in Seattle replied to azgirl2's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
I had revision band to SIPS DS in one surgery on 8/8/17 that was covered by my insurance. I have Aetna though not united healthcare. I had to do 3 mo supervised diet and 3 nut appts, a whole bunch of tests my doc required and approval only took a couple of days. Good luck to you! Revision from band to sleeve
Perfectly Imperfect replied to azgirl2's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
I had Lap-Band to sleeve revision on 7/26/17. I had the lap band surgery in 2006 and had to self pay because the insurance I had at the time wouldn't pay for it. I have United Healthcare as well but because I had already had a previous surgery I had to self pay again. Perfectly Imperfect -
Band to Sleeve Revision-United Healthcare
azgirl2 posted a topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
I am curious if anyone had the revision from the band to sleeve and have United Healthcare. If so, what requirements did you have with them and did they cover the cost? Thanks for any input. In AZ and needing help with questions! -
Did you have the revision. I'm trying to get revised from band to sleeve and have United Healthcare as well
-
I want to know anyone that was able to have the sleeve surgery at the same time as band was removed. Also anyone that has United Healthcare and how hard and what all did you have to do to get approved. Thanks for any assistance.

I set my own goal weight...my starting weight on surgery day was 218 lbs and a 41 BMI. I'm vertically challenged at only 5'1", so I'm short. My original goal weight was 110 lbs and a 20 BMI, but since I was losing so slowly, I readjusted my expectations at 3 months out. My revised goal weight was 130 pounds, which placed me at a BMI of 24.7 (upper limit of normal). I reached 130 pounds at 14 months out and decided to keep going. I entered maintenance at 118 pounds and a BMI of 22. Not only do I like how I look and feel at this weight, but it's been easy to maintain. The moral of the story: you'll need to devote additional effort if you want to get to 135 pounds, but it is possible in spite of what your surgeon says. Good luck to you.

Confused About Expected Weight Loss
ZinNH replied to Cathy Mettille's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My doctor said the average is 65%, but that for a revision (in my case, from lapband to sleeve,) it's more like 55%. He said in their practice, their patients tend to be above the averages though. He didn't give me a goal weight (yet.). After being over 300, I'd be thrilled to get down to 200. -
The day I scheduled my surgery- 6weeks before surgery. My dr informed me of the 2weeks leading up to the surgery I would be on a liquid Diet. It is to shrink your liver. During The surgery the Dr has to lift it and move it out of the way. He told me a Fatty Liver is easily injured and that would throw a stick into the surgery. You can shrink it fast with diet. I have done some research and everyone's prediet is different. Some had way longer and others just had a couple hours of days. Some people had liquids only. And others were able to add in one low-fat, no-carb meal a day like broiled chicken and steamed veggies. Ask your Doc at your next visit. i am having a Revision from a lap-band to a sleeve. When I had the lap band all I had to do before was no food/drink after midnight the day before. Hope that was helpful.

How much weight did everyone loss within the first month???
SIPS in Seattle replied to southernbellair79's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm 10 days out. 226 day of surgery and 212 this morning. Was 242 when I started this journey for my revision in March. I'm still in liquid phase though until week 5, then purée which understandably will slow the loss a bit. Band to SIPS/SA-DI/LOOP DS 8.8.17 HT: 5'6 HW: 242 SW: 226 CW: 212 GW: TBD
