ShilohD replied to sally628's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I just started my pre-op diet. Today is my second day... I have 2 protein shakes a day, two snacks, which can be sugar free jello, pudding, or 1/2cup of fat free yogurt or cottage cheese, and ONE cup of broth based soup -

FindingCarrie, I stuck with yogurt, applesauce, scrambled eggs and puréed beans. I slowly incorporated chicken and fish, my pouch doesn't agree too much with beef. It feels like I ate stones. I still need the Protein Shakes though, better to be safe then sorry. I'm not concentrating on calories only because I'm struggling with just protein intake and fluids. I understand the struggle with water, I am horrible with it as well. -
2nd week post sleeve surgery what can I eat?
FamilyGuyNJ replied to Bables's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I was on clear liquids for only days 1 & 2. Days 3-14 I could have protein shakes (no added fruit), Greek Yogurt, Applesauce, Light Cream Soups, Ricotta Cheese, Sugar Free Pudding & Fat Free Cottage Cheese. I stick mostly to the shakes, but have tried cottage cheese on day 6 and then Ricotta Cheese on Day 7. I'm tolerating it well and am not pushing it. -

I'm with you. No pain no meds easy to walk. Had bypass on 2/15. I only had to stay on clear liquids for three days. I'm on soft foods now for ten days and I'm loving it. Yogurt, soup, applesauce, jello and pudding. -
800-1,000 Calories
esskay77 replied to TheGirlInThePinkScarf's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It's still early days for you so consider it a goal, not necessarily something you will achieve just yet. But, you need to work hard to try to get there because you will eventually. I found that the Isopure drinks helped me get a lot of protein in. They are an acquired taste so beware. But they are 40 grams of protein, no sugar, no carbs and they also count towards your fluid intake! But, yogurt, cottage cheese, ricotta cheese (have you found the ricotta cheese bake recipe yet?), eggs, tuna and edamame are all very helpful. I still rely on those. ANd now I live on chicken and ground turkey, cooked in a variety of ways. -

Hi everyone! I'm 4.5 months post-op sleeve and feel amazing. Some of the things that continue to amaze me lately are trying on clothes and having to double check the size...could that really be a 10?? Also doing things out all day and rarely feeling tired. What a gift! If only I had done this years ago!! I'm about 30 lbs from goal, and feel confident I'll get there sometime this summer. Eating is getting a tiny bit easier. I can now eat 3 oz at a time without too much trouble. I am able to enjoy quite a variety of vegetables and salads now, which I had really missed the first 4 months. My diet is mainly meats and fish, leafy greens, nuts, seeds, yogurt and a variety of cheeses. I'm exercising about 3 times a week for one hour. Life is good!

2 weeks no weight loss. GAINED.
stayathmmom3 replied to c86mc's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I would up your protein to between 90-100 grams and for fruit just eat berries they are the lowest in sugars and carbs. My doctor also says to stay away from fruits until goal. What kind of yogurt are you eating? Some are pretty high in sugar. I eat Greek okios zero or dannon light and fit Greek yogurts. It is very normal to stall and gain a couple of pounds at around 2 months out. It happened to me and was feeling the same way as you. I sometimes do a liquid day or two when I see things slowing down that seems to help. I hope this helps you Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App -
My husband offered me a piece of pizza today!! He honestly forgot and felt horrible, I'm only 3 days out. I'm looking forward to the yogurt, cottage cheese stage!

Yes, I always use a food scale, especially to weigh meats and Proteins. I use a measuring cup for yogurt. The food scale is great because it is really an accurate way to know just how many ounces of Protein you are getting, which works great when you're using myfitnesspal.

I know what you mean Mandi! I am sooooo ready to chew something, (other than my d vitamins!). Lucky for me today tho, my wife is making homemade chicken noodle soup as our daughter is sick, so I will get some really good broth. Nutritionist tells me next Thursday I can begin to add yogurt! Woo pie! Solids will be here soon, keep strong, we can do it![emoji109]

Feeling Full
PrettySmile4U2C replied to PrettySmile4U2C's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yesss....that is totally how I feel with soup, yogurt, etc.. The only reason I stop eating is because it still hurts once the food is going down or I get really bad acid reflux (or what feels like reflux). Sometimes I keep regretting this decision. -
2 weeks no weight loss. GAINED.
c86mc replied to c86mc's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I dont count carbs. But the only thing they would be in is my fruit and yogurt. Like I went over my diet with a dietitian and she said it was perfect -
I like Premier Protein shakes from Costco. Each one provides 30 g of protein. I find it easy to meet and exceed the minimum protein requirements with these. So I usually get 60 to 90 mg of protein using these, and a bit more with Greek yogurt. If I have meat, it's in addition to the aforementioned. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Weight Gain After Sleeve
Oneyearout replied to ChayNYC's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Hello Weight, I'm only one year out but I am a stickler on what I eat. Dannon light yogurt ( 80 cal) every morning 1 cup coffee black. Run 4 miles every day lunch turkey cheese wrap, supper protein of some kind and salad . Desert sugar free pop cycle 15 cal. 96 oz water during day. No carbs no sugar haven't had fast food in over a year. I like feeling better then the food tastes. Went passed my goal. Still crave certain foods but don't eat them. Sometimes a snack will be slice of cheese or turkey jerky. Hang in there you can do this. Protein-water and fresh greens. -
I had my sleeve 2/23/16 and went on vacation 3/17/16. Eating was an issue! I also got tired more quickly, because I couldn't eat much. I was transitioning to soft food at that time, and it's hard to find things like ricotta cheese with marinara when you go out! Luckily, we rented a condo and I was able to eat things like apple sauce and yogurt, at the rental. My advice would be to push the surgery off until after vacation. Have fun! Eat, drink, etc. and enjoy it. It will not be as fun if you have the surgery before, I guarantee. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

At 3 weeks, I was eating cottage cheese, yogurt, applesauce, well cooked veggies, eggs, cheese and beans. At 3.5 weeks I was also able to add fish and nuts. By 4 weeks, I was eating chicken. I am 4.5 weeks out now, and I no longer need protein shakes. I can meet my daily protein goals by eating all real food. It was the chicken that really gave me a protein boost to get off the shakes. Also, I was told not to worry about calories right now. My focus is 60g of protein, and at least 64oz of water. The protein is no problem for me anymore, but the water is like a full time job trying to get it all in every day! -
Protein recommendations!
krr343 replied to TheRevisionedVagabond's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
What works for me is making my own protein shakes with Fairlife milk and protein powder. That way I can add the flavors I like and taste good together. The combination of high protein milk, protein powders and greek yogurt in one shakes gives me almost all the protein I need for an entire day. Also, there is no medical evidence to suggest that you can only digest 30g of protein at a time and even if you could we eat/drink so slow that my one shake takes me through breakfast and lunch.
