I was done on the 9th, I'm on clear liquids for 3 weeks (March 2!) then purée for 3 more weeks before going to normal eating. I did get an ok to have yogurt beginning this thusday, but limited to 4 oz twice a day. It seems rediculous, but I've come this far to not follow their process at the end.

Hello everyone I'm a day or two away from two weeks I was sleeved 8th of February. I've gone down almost 20 lb I'm writing to here others experience and share my thoughts. One thing I've learned is every doctor has a different diet. It's annoying because some people get to indulge in what others can't and you sometimes feel jealous. Lol. After one week I was allowed to have yogurts cream of soups. They helped me get through that week cause the liquid was killing me emotionally. I know I may complain and other had to do this longer and so me complaining seems ridiculous but it's how I felt. I see my doctor Thursday. I'm hoping to here I can it ground meat something of actual food. Some people are allowed this and cheese and beans. What did your doctor allow? And how did it sit with you?

Intense Head Hunger Post op
yncse8 replied to sprkins2's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I make dinners and deserts for my family. My trick is to immediately wash my hands if anything gets on them, do not lick. I also keep in mind the dumping syndrome. I know what it feels like when you are trying new foods and you get sick. I also love how I look since I lost weight (not trying to sound conceited). After being heavy all my life, I don't want to give up how I feel about my self now. I keep up with my fluids and try to find foods that I can have and enjoy. This is no lie, Taco Bell pinto's and cheese is my staple. They give you relatively small portions and I season them with taco seasoning, garlic or onion powder and they are delicious. I also make a conscious effort in determining how full I feel and usually do not eat the last bite as then it pushes me into feeling stuffed. Oikos 21gram nonfat blended fruit yogurt (available at my local Walmart) is also one of my go to foods. When I find myself drifting towards old habits, I think of how good I feel and the new clothes I bought and get right back on track. I only started working out consistently a short while ago and do one mile walking videos which helps as well. Sometimes, you think you are hungry when in fact you are very thirsty. When you feel hunger, try drinking more Fluid. Good Luck! -

Greek Yogurt. My NUT also told me to start adding some 100% fruit juice in to get more calories. So I drink a little more OJ -
Don't worry...you're gonna feel full as all get out soon enough. I've been on the pureed stage for almost 2 weeks. Things like yogurts, Protein shakes, and other thin items go down without much fuss. Some heavier things I tried like eggs, the ricotta bake, sweet potato, etc. sat really heavy. I would still be careful on portions because things still aren't wired up right at this point. I try to keep everything to 1/2 cup or less per "meal" to be on the safe side.

I eat Greek yogurt every morning for breakfast for the protein content, but it’s only 100 calories. I will try the refried beans with cheese. I don't know about tofu yet because it may interfere with my thyroid medication. -
Hunger pains. What the eff?!
mylighthouse replied to TheRevisionedVagabond's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am 14 weeks post op. I definitely feel hungry when it's time to eat. My nutritionist recommends to eat 6 small meals a day to help with the hunger. You may be waiting too long in between meals to eat. Four to five hours is quite awhile for your stomach to have to wait for more food in between meals. Try eating a Protein snack like an ounce of chicken or rolled up sandwich meat, yogurt or string cheese in between your regular meals of Breakfast, lunch and dinner. Stay away from carbs for Snacks. That should help with the hunger. It certainly helps me. -
Came in this morning at 292.2 which puts me 26 lbs down since surgery. Tomorrow will be my 4 week follow-up appointment. Hopefully will be cleared to go back to normal foods. I am beyond burned out on Protein shakes, yogurt, and cottage cheese! I'm mixing things up as much as I can but have had to rely on those to hit my daily protein goals. All in all still doing pretty good. Really wanting to get back to the gym so hopefully doc gives me the okay for that as well.

GETTING DOWN TO IT
Stella S replied to Graciela Garcia's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I don't think I've ever met anyone that regretted it. Almost 2 years out and I still keep my protein up. Mostly nonfat plain Greek yogurt, fish, nuts,, and my standard morning breakfast two pieces of string cheese. I do cook but with limited time sometimes I only need convenience There are a gazillion recipes out there and you will find what works for you. Just keep your protein up and enjoy the ride it will be smooth bumpy Smith bumpy [emoji12] -

Yogurt can help. Refried beans/cheese if tolerated and ok by doc. Tofu (I like baked and flavored in the package). Perhaps sample other protein drinks and bars? Good luck. Keep trying!! -
Can I have a protein shake the first week after surgery?
Mindy78 replied to CantStopMeNow's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I came home on full liquids. Protein shakes, sf pudding, yogurt. After 2 days in hospital. Each dr is different. Follow what they tell you -
Well my surgery was May 26, 2016 and day of surgery I weighed 326 and my highest weight two months before surgery was 358. I currently weight 213, and have been fluctuating within the 213-216 lb range for over 3 months now. I am starting to measure all meals again and I still drink Protein powder in my coffee every morning. I eat approximately a cup to 1.5 c of food per meal, an example my Breakfast is coffee and a light and fit yogurt (80 cal), lunch is cheese crackers and lunch meat, dinner a protein about 2 oz or palm of my hand or smaller, a 1/2- 1 cup of veggie and maybe 1/4 cup of a starch like couscous, or rice or no starch at all. I have had major hunger feeling creeping in and I feel constantly hungry so I recently increased fluids to see if that helps. I have found myself snacking a lot on nature valley or Fiber one bars, fruit, and have even started being able to eat sweets again. I exercise 4-5 times per week, incl. 45-1 hr elliptical cardio, then 30 min arms and legs. I am pretty sure I need to suck it up and eat 3 small meals per day with no snacking and exercise, exercise, exercise. I also have lost quite a bit of weight, but is it normal to still feel like the fat one, and it drives me nuts when people say wow you look great, but I always think well I will look better when I reach my goal so stop saying I look great. I have always been a thick girl with big thighs and I cant seem to tone my legs and arms as much as I would like to. I just feel like I am a failure since I am able to eat more now and I CONSTANTLY feel hungry!! Side note: has anyone else experienced literally NO sex drive after the sleeve. Literally I am not 9 months out and couldn't be bothered it is literally a chore, and I feel awful for my husband and actually need to set up an apt to discuss this matter with someone. Who would I call? OBGYN lol? I have no idea and maybe my history of endocrine issues is a contributing factor..no idea.. HELP PLEASE-- THANKS IN ADVANCE

I was very similar. I started with plain yogurt on day 5. I have eaten many different things with no problem. Wait until you try cottage cheese or refried Beans. You will find out exactly how much your tummy can hold, it is uncomfortable to eat even 1 bite more.

I had the gastric sleeve surgery a week ago and aside from a little discomfort, I feel great. I thought my stomach wasn't suppose to tolerate anything other than liquids, but I've been able to eat apple sauce, Greek yogurt and a very thick egg and tomato sauce puree. Is that normal? I don't feel sick after eating. I don't feel pressure. And while I shouldn't be complaining, I have this underlying worry some feeling. Is it normal? Everyone I spoke to was sick and nauseous and had no appetite for at least 2 weeks post surgery. But I am non of those things. Why am I not feeling any different??

FindingCarrie, I stuck with yogurt, applesauce, scrambled eggs and puréed beans. I slowly incorporated chicken and fish, my pouch doesn't agree too much with beef. It feels like I ate stones. I still need the Protein Shakes though, better to be safe then sorry. I'm not concentrating on calories only because I'm struggling with just protein intake and fluids. I understand the struggle with water, I am horrible with it as well. -
2nd week post sleeve surgery what can I eat?
FamilyGuyNJ replied to Bables's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I was on clear liquids for only days 1 & 2. Days 3-14 I could have protein shakes (no added fruit), Greek Yogurt, Applesauce, Light Cream Soups, Ricotta Cheese, Sugar Free Pudding & Fat Free Cottage Cheese. I stick mostly to the shakes, but have tried cottage cheese on day 6 and then Ricotta Cheese on Day 7. I'm tolerating it well and am not pushing it. -

I'm with you. No pain no meds easy to walk. Had bypass on 2/15. I only had to stay on clear liquids for three days. I'm on soft foods now for ten days and I'm loving it. Yogurt, soup, applesauce, jello and pudding. -

esskay77 replied to TheGirlInThePinkScarf's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It's still early days for you so consider it a goal, not necessarily something you will achieve just yet. But, you need to work hard to try to get there because you will eventually. I found that the Isopure drinks helped me get a lot of protein in. They are an acquired taste so beware. But they are 40 grams of protein, no sugar, no carbs and they also count towards your fluid intake! But, yogurt, cottage cheese, ricotta cheese (have you found the ricotta cheese bake recipe yet?), eggs, tuna and edamame are all very helpful. I still rely on those. ANd now I live on chicken and ground turkey, cooked in a variety of ways. -

Hi everyone! I'm 4.5 months post-op sleeve and feel amazing. Some of the things that continue to amaze me lately are trying on clothes and having to double check the size...could that really be a 10?? Also doing things out all day and rarely feeling tired. What a gift! If only I had done this years ago!! I'm about 30 lbs from goal, and feel confident I'll get there sometime this summer. Eating is getting a tiny bit easier. I can now eat 3 oz at a time without too much trouble. I am able to enjoy quite a variety of vegetables and salads now, which I had really missed the first 4 months. My diet is mainly meats and fish, leafy greens, nuts, seeds, yogurt and a variety of cheeses. I'm exercising about 3 times a week for one hour. Life is good!

2 weeks no weight loss. GAINED.
stayathmmom3 replied to c86mc's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I would up your protein to between 90-100 grams and for fruit just eat berries they are the lowest in sugars and carbs. My doctor also says to stay away from fruits until goal. What kind of yogurt are you eating? Some are pretty high in sugar. I eat Greek okios zero or dannon light and fit Greek yogurts. It is very normal to stall and gain a couple of pounds at around 2 months out. It happened to me and was feeling the same way as you. I sometimes do a liquid day or two when I see things slowing down that seems to help. I hope this helps you Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App
