    Stalls

Hey everyone, i am new to this forum. I have band to bypass revision on March 24th of this year. I feel like I have hit quite a few stalls since surgery. I have lost about 49 pounds since surgery. While I'm happy with that I wish it was a bit more. I drink about 64 to 72 ounces of water a day and try to eat about 60 to 80 grams of protein a day. I broke my ankle late last year which I am still in the process of rehabbing so exercise isn't the best at the moment. Just curious if anyone else is hitting several stalls at 5 months out or if you have any ideas for breaking stalls? Anything worked well for you? Thanks so much in advance.
  2. Thanks for the story Geri. I'm sure you will do great. I can relate somewhat on the spouse issues. My wife doesn't make a joke about it, but she has zero weight issues. It seems like she eats more than me, yet barely ways 100lbs (she's 5'1"). I had the band a little before you (2009). It actually worked fantastic for me, I lost 110% of my excess weight. Unfortunately, I starting having problems with it this year (reflux and vomiting). I either had to have the band replaced or switch to sleeve. Although I successfully lost all the weight, I knew I still needed a tool. This was confirmed by gaining 50lbs after the band was unfilled. I am scheduled for revision on Sep 7th and am on the prep liquid diet right now.

    September Sleever

Woohoo, September 7th for band to sleeve revision for me.
  4. I have united heathcare insurance after my deductable i paid about 1251.00 out of pocket. There was no requirement but to pay deductable i went from the band to the sleeve revision

    So bummed...

I'm having my band to sleeve revision (hopefully simultaneously) at the OCC in Tijuana Mexico with Dr. Ariel Ortiz,
  6. I was all set for an 8/15/2017 band to sleeve revision and ran into a snag in pre-op testing. Got it all sorted out and am now rescheduled for my revision on 9/7/2017 with Dr. Ortiz at OCC in Tijuana Mexico. Good luck to all the September Sleevers!!!

    Food Funeral

We all have weak moments, I get that. But actually planning for a food funeral seems like the first step in a failure of your future lifestyle. If one excessive and unhealthy meal means that much to you, maybe you aren't ready for this change yet? I had the band in 2009 and lost all of my excess weight. Unfortunately, it has since failed and I need a revision. It felt great to be normal and thin - but it required work and commitment. If you can't be strong now in pre-op, do you think you will be strong enough to cope in post-op? Choose wisely.
  8. I had a revision surgery from Lapband to VSG with Dr. Gerado Garcia Alvarez, with Bariatric Mexico. The only pre op text I had here was an endoscopy, and that was just to make sure I didn't have any erosion from my lapband. Once I was in Mexico I had all my other test done. My surgery was at the center in Cabo, but they have 4 other locations as well.

    Got my surgery date!!!

My band to sleeve revision date is September 7th!!! I am so excited!! But dreading the 10 day liquid diet... [emoji20] Sent from my SM-N920V using BariatricPal mobile app
  10. They told me they'd check for a leak before they complete the surgery. I am going to a reputable physician and trust him, but I feel like the first few days will be rough! My friends who had the revision from band to sleeve stayed at least 1, if not 2 nights in the hospital. We shall see! Any post op advice would be great!
  11. I also had PCOS symptoms, but the endocrinologist I went to wouldn't even test me for it. She ordered a bunch of tests, but she put "obesity" as the diagnosis code, which meant the insurance company wouldn't pay for them, so I didn't have them done. My surgery is a revision, which statistically, aren't as successful as wls the first time around. I am optimistic that I will be able to beat the odds
  12. It's totally normal (it happens to almost all of us) to stall between weeks 3 and 5 post-op. I'm also seeing a trend of stalling again around month 5. Most of the March 2017 sleevers I know report stalling about 5 months out. It's true that revision patients lose slower -- I made a very conscious decision to throw everything I have at losing wait in the first six months. I started exercising (walking) 2 weeks post-op. At month 5, I'm doing cardio (elliptical) 4x a week, weight training 4x a week and doing yoga 2x a week. My calories are hovering between 800 and 1000 a day. As my weight loss has started to slow a bit, I've just started experimenting with Intermittent Fasting. I figure the harder I work during the "honeymoon" phase, the more likely it is that I'll have good habits to sustain me as I approach goal and maintenance.
  13. My Lapband with revision to Gastric Bypass and hiatal hernia repair were done in one surgery.
  14. I am getting a revision I was told they will take the band out and then I will need to wait at least six weeks to get the Sleeve done it also depends on the Insurance approval

    Food Channel

I laughed when I read this. When I was first at home recovering I could do nothing but watch this channel! Long story short I had a rough revision to ds.. many months of almost nothing to eat. Fast forward 5 years and all is well.. including my cooking skills [emoji4]
  16. Did anyone have the band to sleeve revision and get to go home the same day? I'm having the revision as a day surgery and was curious.

    Stalls Da&%it!!!!

Hi neon, how are you feeling now? How is your achalasia? I have a sleeve and developed achalasia last year. I'm having a Heller Myotomy and revision to gastric bypass on 9/13. My surgeon said I would likely have really horrible and uncontrollable reflux if I didn't revise to a bypass, and I still have about 100lbs to lose from my initial surgery (I was over 400# to begin with). Curious to know more about your achalasia diagnosis and if you're able to eat better now that you've been healing for a few months.
  18. I am doing the same. Surgery date is Sept 6. My sleeve healed I correctly and developed a structure halfway down, ballooned up over that point, and caused a hiatal hernia. I'm looking forward to the revision and planning on working hard to make this go around a successful one!
  19. I'm having a band revision to the sleeve in a couple of weeks. I'm having at an outpatient surgery center and will be released the day of. Has anyone else had the procedure as a day surgery and how did you do? I see most people end up staying in the hospital 1-3 nights.
  20. I just had my band removed (placed in 2010) and my doctors want to convert to gastric bypass but were currently going through ivf. If we weren't doing that the doctors said it would be about a 3 month waiting period for the revision. Were military retired all procedures are free except off. We have tricare.

    revision approved!

I am having a revision too, seeing my surgeon next week to discuss final details and plans. I SO never thought I would ever need a revision. I've had regain, but this revision is more for the severe GERD that never resolved after my VSG. So i'm moving to RNY. I'm happy to get the GERD out of my life, as i'm popping Prevacid like M&Ms, taking 3-4 in a 24 hour period most days. Obviously i'm happy to have another part of the tool to help with my regain too, but I also feel a bit defeated having to accept this as part of my battle. I could not get the regain off myself and that feels a bit like failure. BUT........onward to better things. I am for some reason, SCARED TO DEATH to have a revision. I am much more stable-health wise- than I was with my VSG but for some reason I feel like this is SO much more involved. Ironically, my surgeon told me that the whole process shouldn't take him more than 30-45 minutes.

    Hi from Texas!

Hi, I just joined this site. I'm 68 and live in the Woodlands Texas. I had the lap band to gastric bypass revision, November 23, 2016. I've lost about 65 pounds. Struggling now my weight has stayed the same for a couple of months. Health and family problems and my inability to cope without The excess food. I feel exhausted and don't exercise much/only swimming. Any ideas, friends?

How much help did you need?

I had a revision from band to SIPS DS and went home the same day. I did have someone around the house for me the first few days but I didn't really need much help. I also had to climb the stairs (about 15 steps) and I didn't have a recliner but I just took it slow. I paced a lot during those first couple of days. It was the only way I could sip water. Sitting and sipping just did not work for me. Band to SIPS/SA-DI/LOOP DS 8.8.17 HT: 5'6ish HW: 242 SW: 226 CW: 209 GW: Healthy

    Body Pain

I also ended up with an ulcer and I have the hardest time eating red meat and chicken...iy seems I can only do fish and even veggies get stuck (cauliflower and broccoli) if they are not cooked to a mistake. My surgery was 6/22 last year and I have been miserable since. I don't know if I would have just rather kept the GERD but it was really bad too. At least I was able to eat better and had way more energy. Now I'm just sick and weak all the time and in pain and most things cause me abdominal pain. I feel like a 78 year old.😔 Omg... yes! I have not posted in ages but I saw this and wanted to let you know that the same thing has been going on with me. I have been suffering from body pain as well. It is hard for me to do most things on a daily basis. I feel extremely weak as well. I have not required a blood transfusion but I did come up low on bloodwork so I am anemic and have low iron and hemoglobin. I only started having these issues after gastric bypass. I originally had gastric sleeve in 2012 and did not feel this way. I had to have a revision last year in 2016 due to severe gerd and I have regreted it ever since.
