  1. I’ve been there. I had gained back 75 pounds after 6 years. I had enough. I still had the tool, and started making drastic changes. I went back to basics. I started my all liquid diet again and went from there. I started logging all my food again and drinking only water. Also weighing myself daily. To me when the food is logged I cannot run from it. I started getting conscious of my snacks. I know at work there is always temptation and at home as well. I got back in touch with my surgeon and got the kick in the bud I needed. I was re-educated on my daily needs, as well as getting back on a good bariatric multivitamin. It can be done, the tool never go away. In June 2019 I was at 168 after losing 20 pounds gradually over 2 years. I saw a picture of myself and knew I wasn’t happy with myself. I went though surgery hell with all my complications and was so mad at myself. In June I decided to start, like I said, with the basics. I have now lost 40 pounds in 7 months. To say my tool is still there is an understatement. I also started on my head work, and realized I had to grow there too. You can do this. You are here and that’s the first step. Come here for support. My real life people don’t understand my food issues. Here there is always someone with good support and advice. Good luck in your new journey.

Lap Band Removal and Revision Suggestions Needed

I had my band placed in 2009, lost and maintained 89lbs for 7+ years. then in 2017 i got the flu and slipped my band.... So out came the band. I looked on and off for years for someone to revise.... but keep getting NOOOO you don't weigh enough. Over that time i put on 30lbs of the weight i lost. Went from 143 to 173.5. I was so depressed that i was doing everything i could and i was still gaining.... Crossfit, starving my self, diet pill.... nothing worked. I was weeks away from going to Mex to get the MGB when i happen to call a local dr. He agreed to see me. We talked and he said that because i had had the band that he could do a revision even though it was 2.5+ years out. He just had to note it in the file that i was a previous bander. So Aug 28, 2019 i revised to the sleeve. I had to pay out of pocket 14K. Worth every penny. As of today... down 38.5lbs in 19 weeks. 5'1" (now 51 y/o) 2009: SW: 232, LW: 135, but my most consistent weight was 143. Size 20 to a size 6 2019: SW: 173.5, CW: 135. Size 4-6 Pros of the band, i had total control of my diet. What i ate and didn't eat and if i ate too much, i "got rid of it". Sleeve, no maintenance. I can't eat nearly the amount of what i ate with the band. 2-3 bites and im done, but i'm hungry again in about an hour. I've only had two episodes of vomiting in 19 weeks. If your dr. will do a revision at the same time as a removal..... i would do it. Look into the Mini GB. Its what i really wanted, but my dr doesn't do them. So i choose to go with the sleeve and be 10 min from his office..... vs having to fly to Mex.

Sleeve Veterans: What makes you successful long term?

Hi! I haven't posted in several years. I'm 5.5 years out from my sleeve surgery, and maintaining at about 10 lbs above my "perfect weight" goal. Still down 105, though, and trying to exercise the ten pounds back off. So I consider my journey thus far to be a major success. I eat everything I want EXCEPT sugar and white stuff. Period. That's my secret. No refined sugar, ice cream, fruit juices, alcohol, bread, rice, potatoes, pasta, and rarely fruit, corn and peas. Other than that, I eat whatever I want. So here's my best tip: If you decide that you will NEVER eat any of the foods listed above, then you never have to decide whether or not to eat something. If it's on that list, it's a NO. If it's not, it's a YES. Every food decision is pre-made. How simple is that? And once you leave those foods behind for a while, you don't miss them anymore. As long as you don't ever open that door, the boogeyman can't tempt you. Two other tips: Get your 64+ ounces of fluids in every single day, and ALWAYS HAVE A PLAN whenever you're away from home. I never go to a party, get-together, or even a long drive without bringing my Crystal Lite iced tea and a bag of almonds. Those two items can carry me through any situation. (And they have, many times!) So that's my system. It's worked for over 5 years with excellent results, so I don't see any reason to change it. Good luck to all in maintenance!!!

Lap Band Removal and Revision Suggestions Needed

I'm one of the lap band 50% failure rate statistics. I had mine over 10 years, and then had a slip and developed a hiatal hernia. 6 weeks ago I had the band removed, the hernia repaired and a revision to a RNY bypass. I dropped 20 pounds in three weeks. The weight is s-l-o-w-l-y dribbling off now, but even only 25 pounds down my knees hurt less and I move around a lot more. I haven't regretted it once. Check around and find a surgeon that will do the removal and revision in one surgery. My surgeon recommended the bypass because he said it was easier to revise to a bypass after having a lap band for years-scar tissue issues-and what catwoman7 said, many people who have NEVER had GERD develop it after a sleeve, and I had it terrible before I got my band. Good luck--don't be afraid to "doctor shop" until you find one. I had to go 4 hours away to a large urban area to find one, but I LOVE the one I found.
  7. I have have been waiting for almost a year for this process to start. I had my first appointment with my surgeon on January 2nd and it went well. My doctor has scheduled the following appointments. 01/28/2020 Physiological Evaluation 02/03/2020 Endoscopy 02/06/2020 Nutrition Visit 02/06/2020 Diet Visit 02/12/2020 Exercise Evaluation 02/18/2019 Pre-Op Classes The insurance coordinator said as soon as I am done with the Exercise Evaluation they will submit to insurance for approval they said this could take from a few hours to a few weeks to get it back. I have Blue Cross I hope the turn around time will be short. Once insurance approves me they said surgery would be scheduled for 3 weeks after the approval. Thankfully my insurance has no waiting time or mandated diet before surgery. Has anyone else had things move this fast? I am not going to lie I am getting nervous/excited at how fast its all going.
  8. I had my lap band put in 2012. I lost 80 lbs the first year, maintained and then in 2016 had a prolapse and all my fluid removed. I never regained restriction from fills, just random days when my band would decide to be tight and I couldn't eat. By late 2018 I had gained all of my weight back. Mid 2019 I started to have reflux that lead into really bad chest pains. I even went to the ER thinking I was having a heart attack. After trying meds, and having an ultrasound I just had an upper GI yesterday. I still have a prolapse and irritation and it was recommended that I have the band removed. I am on the fence about having a revision....I don't think the doctors in my area will offer a revision within the same surgery as removing the band, and now that I have children I am more hesitant to have additional surgeries. Anyone have a good pro-con list of doing a revision?

OOTD game is deteriorating. Today we are sporting hand-me-down joggers from the Kid, a nude back-up abdominal binder (cuz my regular one is in the wash) and a visible sports bra. Arms are bare due to aforementioned washing... Oh, and Crocs of course. I don't even bother with shirts anymore. Cuz: I'm too sexy for my shirt Too sexy for my shirt So sexy it hurts... - RSF, 1991

    Third Revision...

I had the band, with minimal results. Went to the sleeve, AWESOME RESULTS! But now 2 years out, I have unbearable acid reflux. Like burning vomit saliva misery. I just went in to see if I could get a revision to my sleeve. My endoscopy is in a week to see what is going on. I refuse to get a bypass. I like knowing a tiny little banana of stomach is still alive and well. Just saying, I am on round 3. Over a 10 year span. Good luck [emoji106] Sent from my moto e5 supra using BariatricPal mobile app

THE SLOW LOSERS CLUB SUPPORT THREAD

I truly am in the slow losers club. And most of the time I stayed super upset about it, but I try to focus on the fact I HAVE lost significant weight for the first time in over 35 years. I had my surgery a year ago, and needed to lose about 150 lbs. I’ve lost 70 lbs. however, I have only lost about 10 lbs in the last 5 months. Still get in about 90 gms of protein, drink my water, stay under all carbs and sugar amounts. I go to the dr this week for my one year check up. Am very anxious to hear what he had to say. Again, while I had surely hoped to have lost more by now, I’m so thankful I’ve lost and feel so much better!!!!
  13. This makes me wonder about losing the nutritional benefits of soup in the long term. If I eat a vegetable soup I guess the food particles are probably passing through quicker. I also drink and don’t wait more than a few minutes to eat. I do wait 30 minutes after eating to drink. It got much easier after the first 6 months to drink more quickly so first thing in the morning I try to drink 10-12 ounces just to get fluids in. Same thing at night

6 days since surgery and my abs finally aren't hurting.

Bruno was a rescue My wife found for me two December the 28ths ago. He was less than 24 hrs from being put down. He was scared and had been abused. It took alot of time to get him to trust us (around the first 6 months he wouldn't come in the house without me using a leash. He just laid on the back porch scared. He loves everyone and all animals now. He loves his walks and hugs. This is mouse, she almost didn't make it at around 3 weeks when I found her and nursed her with goats milk till she could eat on her own. She is a daddies girl. Milo is my 5 yr old 22lb male that demands my attention at least 10 times a day. I found him during a walk, Milo was around 6 to 7 weeks old and starving. Fed him tuna and wet cat food till he was filled out. He and Mouse still shares my tuna. Everything in this house is fixed except me.

That slice of deli ham went down like a champ as well. It was purred before each bite slid in over in around 10 minutes.

    December 2018 Sleevers!

Pictures are showing me exactly 1 year apart with the first one showing in the same clothes and the second on the left is my daughter letting me feel my granddaughter move in her belly and on the right is me exactly a year later. I am currently at a 2 month stall but no gain! I have been through two surgeries (Feb 2019 / shoulder repair & November 2019/Ventral hernia ) since my hiatal & sleeve surgery Dec 26, 2018. All of this has limited my physical abilities and so I am still proud of my progress and results and I know that it will eventually start coming off again if I stay the course. I just had a foot surgery Jan 31st that’s going to keep me from my daily walking for about 6 weeks or more but I will improvise somehow. Thank you all for sharing your stories and pictures as they keep us motivated. I am looking forward to New Year of 2020 of no more surgeries, healing and finally being able to be physically active in exercise, lose the last bit a weight and start fully living. Happy New Years to my fellow group!

    Bowel movements

Yes for me it took about 9-10 days before I produced anything that wasn’t solid in form but once you get to about 2-3 weeks you will have the baby phase BM where it’s not solid but kinda like how babies have there poops. Then after when you get to the soft foods it’s smooth sailing. I will caution that the soft to solid food phase you might get really really backed up so do stay on top of the fiber if not you will have an unpleasant er visit like I did.

Well today has so far turned out to be EXCELLENT! Except normal everyday pains. I HAVE SO FAR GOTTEN IN 36 OZ WATER AND OVER 60 GRAMS OF PROTEIN AND MY B12 5000MCG AND 2 OF MY 3 CALCIUM CITRATE 630MG. WILL HAVE TO GET BACK ON THE WATER IN 10 MINUTES! My energy level up so I'm going to walk my dog for the first time since the day before surgery. He is super gentle to walk. I can let go of his leash and he will still walk in the heal position. Daily Menus for Maintenance

Yesterday, Sunday, Jan. 5 Maintenance : 5'2" / 1yr PO Sleeve / 113 lbs ---------------------------------------- Poop fairies came just in time to relive me of my bloated-ness so I went ahead and got some movie popcorn! However. The Kid snuck in some caramel coated popcorn which I figured I could eat..NOPE. I had about maybe 2 handfuls and the poop fairies came back with vengeance 30-40 minutes later. I was diarrhea-ing in a PUBLIC BATHROOM and my attempts to be quiet about it were for naught. OMG so embarrassing. Needless to say I missed about 1/2 a hour of the movie. It was Little Women, so I knew what happens, but still. Shoulda just stuck with the regular popcorn. Boo. ---------------------------------------- 10:00am - coffee-cayenne w/ stevia 12:30pm - 5 naked chicken wings w/ hot sauce 3:00pm - coffee-cayenne w/ stevia + 1/2 can Zero Sugar Nestea Iced Tea + 2 cups movie popcorn with butter + 2 cups Chicago Mix Popcorn 8:30pm - salad w/ vinaigrette + carrots + cucumber + 1 oz cheddar cheese + 1 oz cashews + 1 oz almonds + 1 flz oz pumpkin seeds + 6 grape tomatoes + 5 naked chicken wings w/ hot sauce 12:30am - 1 cup dashi broth + 1 snack can of tomato-onion flavoured tuna + 1 Russel Stover sugar freeChocolate Coconut snack + 1 sugar free Reese's Peanut Butter Cup ---------------------------------------- Totals: 1738 cals - 109g Protein - 61g NET carbs - 113g fat

I thought about that too. I'm wanting meat, it's always been my staple as far as food go. I woke up dreaming about a salted ham. I chewed the hell out of each bite. It was emulsified before I swallowed and took around 10 minutes to eat 1 slice. No grumbling from my gut some of the horse pills I have to swallow were bigger than the bites. And it was great. This body craves meat and always has. Sent from my Pixel 2 XL using BariatricPal mobile app
