After a few weeks of little scale joy, in fact a downer last Monday (I gained a pound) - which is the day of the week I weigh - I went shopping and bought a top that was actually a size large...AND IT FITS!!! And it is loose and flowy...LIKE IT'S SUPPOSED TO BE!!! NSV TO THE WORLD!!! So why the joy? I haven't fit in this size since my teens, some 35 YEARS ago! That is DECADES! Joy, indeed ahhh...

OK- I started exercising with Turbo Jam a little over a month ago. (and I am totally addicted) I have not lost a single pound since April 14th (still at 195) but I have lost a total of 10" in this period of time. 10 inches! That brings my total inches lost since surgery date to 30 1/2 inches. Two and a half feet of volume gone forever! I'm pumped. Measurements 9/14/05 vs. 4/18/06 vs. 5/24/06 bust: 47 1/2 ---> 43 ---> 42 (-5 1/2) chest: didn't measure in the beginning ---> 40 1/2 ---> 38 (-2 1/2 with turbo jam) waist: 48 ---> 39 ---> 35 (-13) hips: 51 ---> 45 1/2 ---> 43 (-8) thigh: 28 ---> 25 ---> 25 (-3) arm: 15 ---> 14 1/2 ---> 14 (-1) I started out a size 22W, and I have gone from a size 16 to a 14 in just the last month.

Well, today my kids came back from their visitation with their dad. Heres some background info, i was 21 and stupid (sounds like a taylor swift song) and fell in love with my self centered narcissistic ex husband. He verbally and physically abused me about my weight (i was 145 lbs during my marriage, my weight at surgery was 212, gained from depression after divorce, plus binge eating disorder) Anyway, today he gets outta his car, looks me up and down and says, wow you look amazing. i said, hey arent you married. He said yeah so what, i can have you if i want you. Lesson number 1: tigers never change their stripes. Lesson number 2: I am still 13 lbs above the weight i was when i was married, so he never appreciated me for who i was. My response: "Well you cant have me, I am not a homewrecker like your wife is" Best.NSV.Ever

HELLLLOOOOOO!!! I'm glad to see you two are doing well! Karly1: Are you using band-aids over your incision sites? Sometimes the adhesive can get irritating on your skin. If you're not using band-aids, is your clothing rubbing on your incisions? That can really irritate them and keep them from healing. You may to cover them (no ointment though unless your doctor says to) just to keep a padding between them and your clothes. Hope that helps! Leslie: Girl you are rockin'!!! Look at you...24 pounds lost??? Fantastic! I'm glad you got to advance...I can now have Peanut Butter and eggs! WOO HOO! I still don't feel full for long. Everything just slips right through the band. Can't wait for regular food! I am doing well. I don't have a scheduled exercise session on the days I work. I work 12 hour shifts and run my ass off the whole time. The other days I've been doing okay. I walk, but have been released to start riding my bike. YAY!!! I'd rather ride any day! I took my measurements today. I know I'm a little late, but couldn't find my measuring tape, so had to buy a new one! I want to use that as NSV down the line. I wrote down everything! Neck, ankles, knees, forearms, wrists and ring size!! Overkill???? LOL ~C

My First Nsv's But Way Too Much Tmi (You Have Been Warned!)
Ms skinniness replied to Crystal Woods's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I hope that's not the only thing your doing in the shower. LOL CONGRATS! This is definitely an NSV! -
Ok, so since I gained 1.5 lbs last week I thought I'd post an NSV to make myself feel better! What's this??? OMG - I think it's a collarbone! And here I thought I was born without them!

Boy, do I understand this! Getting down on the floor has been one of my best NSVs from WLS. And not only getting down there, but getting back up again. Sometimes, I swear, I just sit or lie on the floor to enjoy how easy it is to get up again. It's magnificent!

All men on the planet owe the inventor of this a beer. @@treblecutie23 - Congrats. That is an amazing NSV. It is startling when you don't recognize yourself for the first time. I remember getting to class late, and all my favorite hide outs were gone. I almost considered bagging the class. It was a great confidence builder not to wimp out. Please feel free to share pictures of your downward dog. (I mean just for pointers and encouragement).

Lol no just regular applesauce unsweetened of course. I eat it with a baby spoon. I’ve had growling but didn’t know actually what it meant. I’ve had sharp pains too when i drink something really cold. I haven’t bought a scale to see how much I’ve lost so far since surgery date, but i have had some NSV. My watch i got for my bday was tight and i can put a finger underneath... my class ring is spinning around my finger now. I guess I’ll go get a scale after my 2 week appointment next Friday

Hi, I've been reading your board, and what is an NSV?
LindaD posted a topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hello, I'm Linda. I don't have a band yet but am pursuing it. I've been reading a lot on your board and it makes me feel even more confident that the band is the right choice for me. I hope you don't mind me asking stupid questions every now and then. My first one is what is an NSV? I hope to be hanging around here regularly, if you'll have me. I've been looking for a good WLS message board for some time now (I just can't get into the format at Obesity Help and I like and am familiar with vBulletin which is what this board is built on). By way of intro, I am 43, married, with 5 children. My brood is made of all girls and they range in age from 3 to 24. Nice to meet all of you. -
So i have felt tired today and I asked one of the nurses to check my bp. I was 110/60. My bp has been dropping since surgery and I am on a low dose only of lisinopril. The dose is going to be cut in half and I will soon be off it!. This is a great NSV for me! I used to be on 3 drugs now almost on none for bp!

I was thinking....what a great NSV! I hope someone says that to me someday. Maybe it comes from them being concerned that you're not getting enough nutrition? OR in the case of someone who isn't supportive of you, jealousy? I'm still waiting for someone that doesn't know about my band to notice, and say something about my weight loss. Over 50 lbs gone, and NOTHING. Not that I care, but you'd think SOMEONE would notice! LOL!

WoW!!! Fantastic NSV, Vicki!! I'm so happy for you. And just think.. this is just the beginning!!

One of those boring Success Stories :)
icon23 replied to TheCurvyJones's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Congrats! I'm really glad to hear that this is going so well for you. I am a week post-op and I'm having no trouble getting in my liquids and protein, but I haven't transitioned to pureed or actual foods yet. Everything has gone so smoothly so far, I certainly hope that I won't have any trouble with those transitions. I, too, am really happy with this decision and can't wait until I am able to start posting my NSVs and success stories. Now, I just have to think of a good name for my sleeve--you inspired me! Wishing you continued success. -
I'm 6 days away from surgery & scared as heck!
nearperfectmess replied to girl4god77's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That's crazy. I'm just at the chopped/small food stage now and couldn't think of eating a real taco. I did splurge and go to Chipotle to celebrate a little Cinco de Mayo but had meat, beans and guac. No rice, no lettuce, no sour cream or any of that. And I still have 3/4 of the bowl left. It was a NSV to me. But I made sure to be mindful. I couldn't imagine chowing down on a taco, especially right after surgery. -
I just wanted to share some positivity with everyone, especially those going through the hard phases of pre and post surgery right now, or those that are in the buyers remorse phase. I had my gastric sleeve done in July, I have since lost 80 lbs and today was my first time post surgery flying on an airplane. I used to be so embarrassed that the seatbelts didn’t fit me I would put a jacket over my waist so the flight attendants wouldn’t see my seatbelt couldn’t buckle because I was too embarrassed to ask for an extender. But today, just about 3 months post surgery, I am able to buckle and fasten the airplane seat belt. This was a huge win for me & I just had to share :) Please try your best to stay positive and get through the hard phases, I promise it will be so worth it!

Since I started this at 330 pounds, it takes more weight loss to show, and I 've been wondering if/when anyone would notice a difference. I went into an antique shop on my lunch hour yesterday, and the first thing the proprietor said was "You've lost weight!" I could have hugged her! She was the first person who noticed...probably because we haven't seen each other for several months. What a lift to my spirits and determination that was!:clap2: I also noticed a couple of days ago that my watch, which would barely latch a couple of months ago, is actually loose enough to slide all the way around on my wrist on its own. Can't notice a difference in my clothes yet, but I have always worn looser clothing than many people. It will come, I know. But I just had to share my two NSVs with people who would understand! Emily

My Kids Make My Heart Smile Nsv
NancyJerry replied to pasquini's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
For better &/or for worse, kids don't lie!! Very cool NSV! -
Kim, I know what you whar must be feeling, since I had the surgery in Julu 05, i have lost practically nothing, still a size 14 and I hate it. I feel that I have even failed in something that was fail proof Especially when I see people who have lost mega weight you are not a failure, and there is still time to get back on the wagon I had a fill 2 weeks ago and can hardly eat anything at all so I figure a slow weight loss is better than no weight loss plus I have not been able to excercise due to a bad heel spur SO CHIN UP, KEEP Sorry to hear about your brother:cry Louise My sweetest in the whole world brother died in September. At that time, I was really losing weight quickly and of course, it continued for a while afterward because I just was so sad I could not eat (who would have ever thought that could happen!) So, then it got cold and I got depressed and just pretty much sat around like a lump of fat until now--Prior to september, I could fit easily into a regular 14 pant. Now, I can't keep them snapped and I could just cry. I haven't seen my doc since October and when I was there, I got the impression (could be a wrong impression) that I was about half way filled and that I (me personally) needed to do more to make this band work for me--I don't know if I can do it!!! I am so bummed that my big fat butt is popping the snaps on these formerly cool looking pants--and I recently had the NSV with my necklace--but I don't want my neck to be thin, I want my butt and hips and belly to GO! Should I just call and make an appt to discuss? I hate going there--it's NOT them--they are wonderful and supportive--I am just feeling like a failure and a freak. Talk me out of this tree, please. I am eating all the wrong things. Today started drinking my usual 64 ounces of Water, so that's a help to getting on the right track again. Help! I fell off the wagon.
