Listening To My Husband :)
Ms skinniness replied to poohmsg's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
This is awesome insight! Yes, do listen to your husband. It's natural to see yourself as the bigger you, but reality is knocking at your door! Let reality in and readjust your picture of yourself as a slimmer, yes smaller, you. CONGRATS! This is an awesome NSV! -
This weekend I went out and hit some garage sales looking for things for my son's new apartment. I saw this very cute denim skirt. It was a size 10. Knowing that I could never wear it I bought it for my daughter....it was only a quarter. I brought it home and, just for $hits and giggles I thought I would try it on and see how close I was to it fitting. I just went from 14 to 12 a couple weeks ago...in fact some 12's still don't fit. Well guess what? That's right...THE DARN THING FIT! Seriously???? Me!?? A 10???? Me who was a 28 just 3 years ago???? Sorry, Kid. Mom's keeping this one!!

This made me laugh out loud and really made my day. I know I still float! I made a long, long list of about 100 NSV's that I anticipate to achieve and I'll have to add this to the list. I'm going to mark them off with the date I achieved them. I've been around Water my whole life and was a swim instructor and life guard and always been a good floater! I can't wait to SINK for once in my life! Thanks for sharing this NSV, NMJG Carol

~hugs~ so happy for you and your daughter.... them NSV make it all so sweet....

I used to float around the pool on my back. Discovered yesterday during my first swim of the season that I sink now. Can't float! My ballast is gone! I just think this is so funny.

I would have to say i am more focus on a size rather than a number on a scale. I would love to be able to walk in wet seal, body shop, charlotte russe, rue 21 etc and buy things other thanjewelry...the shoes dont even fit me half the time. I am 5'4" 273 btw

I am really starting to love these NSV's! They are the best ever! NSV 1: Went shopping yesterday because my work pants are too big (size 16) and ended up buying a size smaller (size 14)! The lady that works at the store said I could probably go down another size as well because if I continue to lose weight they will fit soon (size 12). I decided to stay with the 14 because the 12s were a little too snug for "work attire" - woop woop!! NSV 2: This is the best one yet! I had a funeral to attend to yesterday. A friends father passed away. Anyway afterwards I stopped at my husbands work (he works in a metal shop). He ended up not being there because he was out in the field working that day. Anyway his HR/Benefits person was the one to help me at the front desk. I just told her I was his wife and just dropped in to say hi, so it was no big deal. About 20 minutes after I left he called me and said that the HR/Benefits lady texted him and said, "You're wife is really HOT!!" I didn't believe him so I made him show me the text when he got home that night, it's true she really text him that. A little weird but it made my day! Some random lady I don't know telling my hubby how hot I am, hahaha.

Okay, much past due for an update, but I've been busy! Alright, well, in the last 2 weeks of November I was moving to a new place. There are a decent amount of NSV's associated with this. My old place was a one bedroom apartment on the 2nd floor. I did tons of moving and packing and running up and down those stairs, and hauling stuff onto trucks. My muscles were generally sore afterwards but my lungs didn't hurt because I wasn't huffing and puffing! I now have a 2 bedroom place with stairs in it, and i'm up and down those stairs all the time. And more often than not, I'm running up and down the stairs, not walking. Walking up and down stairs takes to long, you know? When I first started this thread I had an NSV that my class ring fits. Well, now I need to get it resized. It still 'fits' but when I wear it it never stays straight and I'm afraid it will fall off. Fortunately my engagement ring was snug when I got it, so it still fits nicely. I haven't lost weight in a while, and even gained a few lbs (but fortunately I finally got that gained few lbs off), but I swear the other day when I put my jeans on they fit different than normal and they were right out of the dryer. Usually I have to squeeze into them (not lay down on the bet to zip, but still squeeze), and I didn't the other day. It might be the gained few that caused the squeezing, but I'll list it anyway. I LOST WEIGHT OVER THE HOLIDAYS. Granted, it's weight I'd lost, then gained (5lbs), but still. That's more of an SV, but the NSV comes in the form of all the snacking I DIDN'T do. Mom made 2 batches of fudge, a half batch of truffles (just for me), a batch of sugar cookies, a batch of gingerbread cookies, and I made 2 pumkin pies. In the course of 2 weeks, I maybe had 5 cookies, and 2 pieces of pie. I did eat most of the truffles over time, and a few pieces of fudge, but that was over the course of 2 weeks! I remember before coming in, grabbing a couple of cookies, grabbing a couple more a little later, and a little later after that, etc etc.

Accountability Update 30 days - 6mo SD
Egomom posted a topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
My first 30 day on my supervised diet are nearly complete. My first two weeks were a bust but the second half I have lost 9 pounds to date. My biggest struggles continue to be eating out and unplanned eating although I am geting better at making quick choices that are on plan. I am doing well sticking to calories but see that my carb creep up and fat is creeping up. I havae a few NSVs my clothes fit a little better and I do have more energy. I have started working out or being more active eather. I walked 2 miles with my kids the other day and felt great. I have my first appointment back with my PCP on Monday for the official weigh in then it is on to month 2. My favorite meal plan items this month have been yoplait greek 100 whips, celery and (insert cream cheese, peanut butter, or dressing) string cheese and deviled eggs. My goals for this week are to exceercise three time per week with at least two of those being core work and stretching. -
4 Weeks since Gastric Sleeve Surgery Today! Normal Loss? I Think I'm A Slow Loser
DebiC replied to quazarfrog's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think we all feel that way. Even though it isn't realistic for most-We think the weight should just drop off. It's true that those of us with more weight to lose will lose quicker-our bodies need more calories each day just to move. I've read on here where people have lost 250+lbs in a year and others who have lost 60lbs in a year. I think one thing that's important to me is not to weigh myself often so that I don't become obsessed with how much I've lost or stalled or gained on a daily basis. I need to just keep plugging away and look for more of those NSV-which you seem to hv already noticed in yourself. -
UGH....need to find my groove...holidays are over
khath0620 replied to bostonmomma's topic in Fitness & Exercise
I love what someone once told me....the band is around our stomachs, not our brains! This was my 1st holiday season with the band and had just assumed I would do fantastic but, being a food addict, I didn't so so well over the holidays either. I grazed, nibbled, and ate for 2 solid weeks. I don't want to step on the scale because even though I know I didn't do as well as I should have, I DID NOT do the damage that I once did and, for me, that is a NSV. If I am up a couple of pounds, I take ownership of it and blame no one else but myself. The past is the past and I am back on track now. I (HOPEFULLY) learned a lesson on how to cope with the holidays for next year but can't look too far beyond day to day. I am proud that today I went to the gym at 5 a.m. and had a healthy, Protein rich Breakfast. That is all I can ask of myself right now. Hope everyone has a happy and healthy 2011!!! Katie -
Today I "unsubscribed" from Lane Bryant emails! Although they served me very well through the years, no more plus sizes for me. Sent from my SM-G965U using BariatricPal mobile app

Terrible photo with the iPad but look at the seatbelt! That is the excess once I pulled it in. Presurgery I was struggling to do it up and on the border of asking for an extension belt. Today, I got to tighten it. And LOOK!
