    Happy NSV!!!!!!
  2. Don't be discouraged it happens as I lost a good amount in the beginning but now it seems I lose or gain the same 2-3 lbs but I a staying at a good weight I am not at goal and hope to be by at least Sep. of this yr cause it will be 2 yrs. by then my surgeon agrees with me that even if it progresses slowly that it will be better for me and I won't gain it all back and it is up to me to jump, walk or run over my hurdles so just try and be patient wich is really hard for us , but we can do it , and let your sall nsv's sink in also don't worry about the numbers as before you know it your clothes will start feeling looser, so hang in there on your journey and I a in mine.

    NSV.. until...

I probably have no right posting a NSV right now, since I realize my weightloss is primarily a factor of dehydration, but it's a funny story... First, 3 weeks ago I weighed 340 lbs and had a 54" waist. I now weigh 301 lbs and I was looking for some pants to wear to go to my son's indoor soccer game... ... and I found a 50x30 pair of jeans I'd never worn. I put them on, and they fit! Then I grabbed a 3x shirt (which is *almost* biggish on me) and put it on, and I looked really good =) I said to my wife "Man, I think I could go downtown tonight and get laid in this!" (Jokingly, of course.) She replied, "You could, honey, except for your belly." I stared at her, mouth agape, and she said "NO NO NO NO NO! I meant because of your incisions!!!!!!" Classic...

    NSV

So went to Knott's berry Farm last Thursday... I have not been to an amusement park in such a long time. The embarrassment of not fitting on rides is a little to much to take sometimes....but this time it was different. I was able to go on every single rollercoaster and thrill ride. I had an amazing time and logged in about 7 miles of walking with no real tiredness. It was great to have so much energy and feel so NORMAL! 3 months in and it has already changed my life.

@@JustWatchMe, talk about NSV's, you just took the category to a new level. Your note is such a great pleasure to read.

    DD to a C

Whoo Hoo! Finally, a NSV for me! You have no idea how it irked me to read of everyone dropping a lot of weight, and buying new clothes in sizes I can only dream of, etc. However, I finally HAD to buy some new 'frillies' (as DH calls them) and last night went shopping. I got measured and for the first time in decades, I was a C-cup...WOW!! (I am also a few inches smaller, but it is the 'C' which has me almost giddy). Perhaps the new body which is slowly emerging from underneath the blubber won't be ice-cream cone shaped - there may be a proportioned person there!

    Need some encouragement...

Hi, Anwyn, we were banded around the same time, and you are doing great! I am having some of the same mental issues as you are having, and I'm searching myself for the answers...the things that come to mind to offer as support is to really look yourself over. Look at before and after pictures, try on before and "now" clothes. When you look at the pictures, don't just look at your "special" spots, the ones you can't take your eyes off, the ones that you think of as negative. Look at the unnoticed areas...your neck, the back of your neck, your ankles, your wrists. Review all the NSV's you have noticed and received. Write them down. Fifty pounds is a big, big accomplishment, and it is a big change in your body. Give your mind and image of yourself a chance to catch up. I do not do well if I let myself get too hungry; I do the same thing you do...too big of bites and don't chew very well, then I get that lump feeling, and it hurts. I am working on slowing down, and preventing that really, really hungry feeling by eating something like yogurt first...you can't take a big bite of that or fail to chew it, you know? Most of all, you're doing great! I've got yer back and hang in there! Cindy
  10. (size 22-24 / size 12-14) Just sticking my head in. Things have beed SO incredibly crazy for me and haven't had time to really sit down and pull all of my thoughts together. I'll post the short version here: Have accomplished quite a bit since the last check-in. I finally scale moving, but my body is being sculpted at an amazing rate, due to my love of running. (left pic: from my first 5k in April. right pic is from 2 weeks ago) (Only about 5# gone, but LOTS of inches GONE) The inches are disappearing, but STILL haven't hit One-derland, and I'm almost 2 years out. More important to me though, have become the NSV's... This coming weekend, I will be doing a 5k race up at Yankee Stadium to raise money for Cancer Research (something extreamly near & dear to my heart). The course takes place inside the stadium, and incorporates the concourses, ramps, and stairs. STOKED, but nervous...and ever-ready for a challenge. I also took to the challenge of doing BOTH the Marine Corps 10k and the Zombie 5k obstacle course in the same weekend at the end of October, so I am in training mode. That will surely show me what I'm made of! In other news: my eating has been pretty good. I'm focused. But I'd be lying if I didn't say how frustrated I am with the scale not showing all of the effort I'm putting in. I guess it shouldn't be important...but it is. No matter - I plan to keep going. Something will eventually have to give, right!??!? SO...MORE IMPORTANTLY: how is everyone doing?!?!?!? What challenges have you been having?? What NSV's have made you smile the most?

Busy week- NSV's, first stuck episode!

Congrats on the NSVs. When you get stuck next time you shouldn't sip any Water or anything. Your pouch and esophagus are filled and adding water or Fluid on top of the food only pushes up against your pouch and esophagus. Can make it all take longer with more pain. jmo
  12. I posted this on some of the Yahoo boards, but wanted to share with you all, too. Thanks for the genuine support on this board, it is always so refreshing. First the SV's......I was banded 11-05-04....I have lost 40lbs and 41 inches!!! Now, the NSV's.... I am wearing clothes that have been hanging in my closet for over 3 years (some even have the tags still hanging on them). Some people notice...some don't. I sleep better. I no longer take my acid reflux med. I can sit in some chairs and movie seats much better. My daughter commented that it is so weird to see such small amounts of food on my plate. And, this is a great one....my hubby (who is greatly overweight) has decided he wants to get the band also, after seeing how well I've done. I was really disappointed at first after the surgery because I was not losing like I thought I should, however, I made it through the holidays without gaining an ounce. I have had 2 fills in the 11cm band and I'm up to 5.25cc in the band. I still think I need another fill.....and I'll probably get it in a few more weeks. I can feel the band working for me, now, and I, in turn, am working it. I will start Curves, I think, in another month or so. As soon as I can "move" a little easier and can get MY confidence up. I'm working on it, though. Everyday I get closer and closer to making that all important step to get out there in front of others and exercise. I will encourage everyone...if you do nothing else to....DRINK LOTS OF WATER!! It is KEY to losing. It's habit forming. I sleep better when I've had all the Water I need. I feel better. My skin is healthier. My joints don't ache as bad. AND the scale moves downward!!
  13. You will be able to eat normal food in just a few short weeks. NSV means non scale victories. Hang in there.
  14. Like the first time your pants fall down. Check this out....... http://www.bariatric...e-nsvs/?hl= nsv
  15. I saw a picture of myself from behind and honestly did not even realize it was me until I noticed that it was my hair. Also I have a certain, um, sexy-time NSV that I won't share here in public but believe me when I say that there are new and fun things happening in our bedroom.
  16. Ok. This was awesome! My husband has a habit of walking past me and smacking me a good one on the butt. Usually too hard and I have to whine at him. So tonight, I was wearing a pair of jeans I haven't worn in years. I was showing him the pants and I said "go ahead! Smack it!" He said Nooooo, it's too small and delicate, I might break it! HAAA!!!! He called my butt small and delicate!! He's never said anything on me was small OR delicate! (It's not really small by many definitions, but I guess compared to what he was USED to looking at....) YESSSS!!!!
  17. Yesterday I went for a 1 mile walk. Then a few hours later I took my 2 year old niece for about a 1/4 mile walk around our subdivision to look at lights. She was waving and blowing kisses to all the blow up characters. When I got home I cried. 3 months ago I never would have entertained doing something like this because I would have been so tired and wouldn't have had the energy. Last night have me more motivation to keep pushing forward because that simple walk told me if I don't succeed I am going to be missing out on a lot of awsome things. We have a littlw ice cream parlor that is only open during summer and I need to get ready to take my baby girl for walks ao she can get her ice cream cones this summer
  18. And the hair loss is starting. ... A great NSV to my fear coming true.... I already had major hair loss back in June and July due to my DRESS syndrome, now I get to experience it again. *sigh* Oh well.. hopefully it won't be too too bad. ???? Now to the gym I go to sweat my ass off!

    NSV

Just had a really good NSV. Walking to a store with my family, I noticed us all in the mirrored windows and had to do a double take. I didn't even recognize myself. ???? sleeved June 24th 2015
  20. I am now in a size 11/12 juniors. I'm so stoked!! I even got into an addidas jacket I haven't worn in years. I'm big into sports and have a ton of sporty clothing I haven't been able to wear and now I can!
  21. I get what you say about goals. I set goals for myself and work towards them. Its not the end of the world if I dont reach them, but if they are reasonable, I should be able to do it. I usually set 7 and 8 lbs goals because they are totally doable. I figure if I set small goals, the big ones will take care of themselves. Also, NSVs are the bomb even if the scales arent moving. I've been going to the gym regularly and friends say I look like Ive lost alot where I'm not seeing a huge change on the scales, I know that will come later. I just enjoy every victory I get.

I think you have lost enough...

I was thinking....what a great NSV! I hope someone says that to me someday. Maybe it comes from them being concerned that you're not getting enough nutrition? OR in the case of someone who isn't supportive of you, jealousy? I'm still waiting for someone that doesn't know about my band to notice, and say something about my weight loss. Over 50 lbs gone, and NOTHING. Not that I care, but you'd think SOMEONE would notice! LOL!
  23. I too was a high BMI when I started this journey last Sept, it took a good 50-60 pounds before anyone really noticeds any change, which was like 3 months. But now at 120 pounds lost everyone notices, it will happen I can barely go through a day without someone stopping me and telling me how awesome I look, (tho I still have another 45 pounds to go). Be patient it will happen. But also dont just look at your clothes or other people for NSV's/ Do you feel like you move a bit more freely, do your feet hurt less, can you breathe easier?
  24. Today marks thirty days since my surgery, four weeks and two days. My husband and I went out to eat for the first time in over a month, and it was a success! I was a little worried about a negative reaction, but was feeling OK since I haven't had any problems at home this past week introducing "early solid foods." We went out for sushi and I ordered a miso Soup which I've been making at home, familiar territory. Then I was about to very slowly, but wonderfully eat three 1oz pieces of sashimi (sake and maguro) dipped in low-sodium soy sauce. HEAVEN! I took very small bites, chewed so thoroughly, and patiently waited between bites to check in with my belly for the full signal. The taste was amazing, so nice to have something my taste buds remember from before surgery. I felt like I could have gone for a fourth piece, but didn't want to push it. It was hard to not dive into the roll my husband got, but I kept staring at the rice like it was a sworn enemy. I did allow myself a small bite of the unagi he ordered for "desert" It was so nice to feel normal again. And I have to say, I loved my sleeve for doing it's job tonight...

    Another Nsv

Last night i was washing clothes when i got a call that my husband was taken to the emergency room. i looked around and all the clothes that fit half way decent was in the washing machine or dryer. There was a pair of jeans i figured would take a couple of months to get into just hanging in my closet taunting me to try them on. so i did and they fit. i didn't have time to do a happy dance but i did smile. i wore them and they were comfortable. the scale may not be going down much but inches are. so ppl don't get discouraged by your scale. oh my husband is fine. he fainted at work but it wasn't his heart nor did he have a stroke. he will likely have to make the rounds of the specialists to see if they can't find the problem.
