  2. Just would like to add that losing 10 lbs a month is not slowly losing. It’s perfect weight loss. Yes, most people may drop quickly in the beginning, but that is a fool’s gold in water weight. Gradually, you drop off to 2 lbs a week as you gradually add calories and carbs. For me, this happened at 8 weeks. I’m 10 weeks now.

    December 2019 Sleeves

Hello, I was sleeved on 12/11/19. So far I am down 23lbs. I hit a two week stall, but I realized I wasn't eating or drinking enough water.
  4. I was sleeved on 12/11/19 weighed myself yesterday...down 25lbs. I was stalled out at 17lbs down for 2 weeks(frustrating indeed) but I realized that I wasn't drinking enough water (thanks for the reminder Constipation!). This past week I really focused on getting 60-70 oz of water in addition to my 60 grams of protein. I was released to full activity on this past Thursday, so I will see what exercising will add to the scale moving more.
  5. Hi! I’m a little late to the party but I’m 39, will be 40 July. I had surgery on 10/16 and I’m down 73lbs. My focus is protein and cardio!!!

Hey surgery twin!! Its funny, today is the first day I've felt like posting here since surgery as well! Looks like we are on the same pace!! I've mainly been tolerating only water and broths since I've gotten home, but today, like you, I've gotten some protein drink and tomato soup down. (Boy was I craving that tomato soup, let me tell you!). Pain isn't too bad, seems more internal than the actual incisions (I had a hernia fixed as well) but overall not unbearable. I've been taking pain killers as prescribed but will be done with them tomorrow at 10 am as ordered. Wondering though if anyone has experience taking 500mg Tylenol tablets? They seem so large but that is what I'm supposed to take after tomorrow. Anyway, glad you made it through! We have got this!! [emoji173] Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-J327AZ using BariatricPal mobile app

  9. I've read that although things like silicone sheets/gels, massaging with oils & lotions, etc can have at least SOME effect for the first year or two, they're most effective during the first six months after surgery. I'm still using lotions/oils on mine (my procedures were 10 months and 17 months ago), though - if I don't the scars feel dry and tight - drives me nuts.

  11. Hello everyone! I'm pretty excited. Literally took my insurance one day to approve my surgery. I am so nervous and excited at the same time. My surgery is scheduled for 3/13/2020 and I plan taking the week off after. I start the 10 day pre-op diet on 3/2. I worry though as I'm trying to find protein shakes I can drink. I'm use to premier protein as my mom had the surgery and they actually taste pretty good but I'm afraid my stomach is having some issues with them. The nutritionist I spoke to said to try a plant based protein shake, called Evolve. I did and.... wish I didn't. Lol. Also, anyone recommend any good vitamins? I see the sale on the website for the one a day for $99 the year. Anyone use these or tried any of the protein juices from the site? Any advice is appreciated.

  13. I'm around 10 lbs too! Mine was 12/31. Today was rough- the first day I got nauseous since the first couple days. I'm having trouble with my vitamin intake- the Celebrate shake. Are y'all on the full liquid phase? or moved on to pureed?

  15. Hi Lys! My surgery was 12/31 and I'm at about the same 10 lbs. Overall I'm doing well though. I am getting my water in every day. I have missed my protein all but a couple days, but I've been pretty close. I still get tired mid-day and I'm not back to work yet but overall pretty happy with my progress.

    How long does surgery take?

I arrived at 5 am, was in the prep area by 6 am, surgery at 7am, recovery by 9am, in my room and dozing again by 10 am. It was pretty low-key!

    Thermage anyone?

Hmmm I do see this recent review on Amazon I Think These Reviewers Are Imagining Things People are saying they saw changes after a week, posting before and afters that literally look exactly alike - giving rave reviews? Something is off. They are either suffering from confirmation bias or the reviews are fake. First, I've seen this same product marketed as a cellulite reducer, skin whitener, and skin tightener. Sounds sketch. The instructions are weird and incomplete. There are three settings and three options for the length of time to use it: 10 min, 20 min, and 30 min. The manual says not to use the machine more than 3-4 times a week. But it doesn't say on which setting or for how long. So if you use it for 30 minutes on the highest setting is that the same as using it on the lowest setting for 10 minutes? Who knows. They don't explain. I tube of gel comes with the machine, but it has maybe four words in English, the rest in Chinese, so I have no idea what those instructions are, nor the ingredients, but my face and neck broke out in a papular rash for three days. Still, I stayed the course. Not an iota of difference. I'm not at all impressed. This is just snake oil. Not only that, but I found it on another site for $80, hundreds less than I paid. I'll be returning it. 13 people found this helpful i will be watching to see how it all turns out.
  19. I found the same thing with me after my breast reduction years and years ago. I have maybe like 10 very fine hairs in each armpit. I don't know if this arm lift will get rid of those last few hairs for good, but I totally wouldn't mind at all if it did

    Daily Menus for Maintenance

Yesterday, Friday, Jan. 10 Maintenance : 5'2" / 1yr PO Sleeve / 115.4 lbs ---------------------------------------- Purposefully ate little during the day as we had planned to go out for dinner at one of my fave french restaurants. Sadly, for various unremarkable reasons, we ended up at an Italian restaurant, which was ok, but I was looking forward to something else, so it was kinda a letdown. I ended up drinking more than I ate. Stopped for a little ice cream on the way home and rewarded with a gurgly stomach for an hour or so. ---------------------------------------- 9:00am - 1/2 black coffee w/ stevia 12:00pm - Salted Caramel Coffee/Tea Latte (leftover coffee + green tea bag + almond milk + sugar free salted caramel syrup) 1:30pm - salad w/ vinaigrette + cucumber + carrots + 1 oz apple + shirataki noodles + 2 fl oz homemade meat sauce 5:30pm to 9:00pm - 1 coconut amaretto sour (YUM!!!) 3 glasses red wine 1 gin & soda water 2 tbsp spinach & artichoke dip w/ 5 KETO bagel chips (I had some in my purse, lol, I brought them cuz I planned on ordering foie gras at the french restaurant...) ~1 oz fresh mozzarella w/ hazelnut balsamic glaze (barely) 1/4 cup spinach salad w/ pickled beets, goat cheese, pear, toasted almonds, lemon honey dressing 1 bite of grilled salmon (~ 1/2 oz) 1/4 cup salted almond marzipan ice cream 11:00pm - salad w/ vinaigrette + 1 oz apple + 1 fl oz pumpkin seeds + 1 oz cashews + 1 oz white cheddar + 1 slice proscuitto ---------------------------------------- Totals: 1909 cals - 60g Protein - 128g NET carbs - 91g fat
  22. That's a good point. That is also something we "slow losers" should consider, the type of surgery each of us have had. After taking my time and literally reading every post on here, I'm going to say this for myself: When I first had wls in 2010, it was with the lapband. I am what you would call a "vet" as I have another login that followed my journey at that time. It took me 2 1/2 years to lose 99 pounds and it was established then by my doctor that I would be a "slow loser". I didn't like it, but I accepted it. Second time around, it was again established by my new doctor, "You are going to lose even more slowly than you did with the band." I didn't believe him, but here I am at almost two months postop and have only lost 14 pounds. I initially lost 10 pounds during the preop diet but after surgery, I gained it back. Not trying to but by simply following my doctor's orders. He said that he doesn't even consider the first month and to keep following my plan. Well, I was only two pounds down at my month weigh in by just following his plan and it was VERY DISCOURAGING. So I took it upon myself to do something different and it's working. I am a slow loser, IT'S NOT A MYTH contrary to other's opinions. I am happy that I am losing and NOT GAINING. It just gets very discouraging that you are losing weight slowly rather than quickly. It's totally a mind thing. I lost a LOT OF INCHES in the first month and I posted that in my topic in the revision section. When I first saw this topic this morning, it made me very happy to see someone else felt defeated at times like myself. I had no idea that I would be reading about all this other stuff, but hey it's all good. I have learned new information that's for sure. I lose weight at a significantly slower rate than the average person and I realize now, I AM OKAY WITH THAT!!! Good day all.
  23. Hello everyone! I have started the process of getting approved for surgery and I feel like I am not sure how I stay on a vegetarian diet after surgery. I am a horrible cook and I hate to cook also. I really like that I eliminated the inflammation in by body by going vegetarian and I really don’t want to go off but I’m nervous about after the surgery any suggestions because now I kinda just steam veggies or cook the morning star burgers eat. I have only been a vegetarian since September 2019. Still very new n learning. Help please I appreciate all you can offer. Thank you in advanced!
  24. Yesterday was my 10th day post-op and I can honestly say that I am eating great. Yesterday morning I ate 1/8 cup oatmeal with a 1/4 cup mashed bannana in it and 2 packets of Stevia. Went down wonderfully with no discomfort. Lunch time, I ate a 4oz airfried chicken breast with lemon pepper. Dinner time, I ate 4oz Salmon with old Bay sprinkled on it and a splash of lemon with 2oz green beans. Everything is going well. I just skipped the puree stage and chew to a pulp. Can't feel my incisions anymore. No discomfort from the surgery at all. That's my update. I really hoping that everyone else is doing great as well.

    No longer banded

Removal was easy peasy, I went home the same day. The only tender spot was where the port was attached. Then I waited a bit and it took 4 months for Medicare approval to have the sleeve done. It was done July 30, 2019, and I've lost about 70 pounds and I love it compared to the band. No adjustments, just work the program which is similar to the band. I am so thrilled that it is gone and I'm back to the weight I was when I was successful with it. Don't hesitate, move on with good health and don't look back. My doctor apologized for my issues and said the band was the gold standard at the time, but I'll be happy with this surgery and I am. Good luck on your journey.
