    Airplane Nsv

That is a wonderful NSV! Way to go!
  3. Ent out to the east coast last week and I saw this...a seatbelt with an extra 8 or 9 inches. When did they lengthen them?...lol. I almost needed and extension the last time I got on a plane so this is a major deal for me.

    Memorial Day Challenge!

Down a little more this week. Slow but still down and I had an awesome NSV this week. I was doing some much needed clothes shopping for an upcoming business trip and found a shirt I loved but no large. So, on a total whim, I tried on the medium... IT FIT!! SW - 183.2 CW - 181.2 GW - 173.2

    5K

I had an amazing NSV this weekend! I ran my first 5k since my surgery 11/14/11 and shaved 4 minutes and 52 seconds off my last 5k time (before surgery)! And...my race T-shirt was a medium instead of a (very tight) Extra large! I even ran it in barefoot shoes! I love feeling so strong and healthy! I've already signed up for four more! If you've never done a 5k...I highly recommend it...most of them have a walkers division, and, like me, I had to walk every so often to catch my breath. But, its a great way to commit yourself to training....like holding your own feet to the fire!
  8. I too was a high BMI when I started this journey last Sept, it took a good 50-60 pounds before anyone really noticeds any change, which was like 3 months. But now at 120 pounds lost everyone notices, it will happen I can barely go through a day without someone stopping me and telling me how awesome I look, (tho I still have another 45 pounds to go). Be patient it will happen. But also dont just look at your clothes or other people for NSV's/ Do you feel like you move a bit more freely, do your feet hurt less, can you breathe easier?
  9. Great day so far. Did a 1 1/1 hr hard workout. Getting to the gym is alot easier now that I have been going 2-3 days a week for a month.I weighed in at the gym and total loss of -34.2lbs and -20.75 total inches. woot woot!! Even though I fell off the band wagon the other day Im still down 4 lbs in two weeks.. My goal is 2 a week.. NSV if you call it that I have to get my wedding ring sized down one of these days it's going to slip off, my watch too turns on my wrist..

    January Surgery Bandsters Group

Amica, first of all congrats on a huge NSV....that's awesome!!!! Second of all...I hear you on the green zone issue, as I am going through the same thing. My dietician always had me under the impression that when you're in the green, and you have eaten enough, you will be physically unable/uncomfortable if you eat any more....while I had a few sticks and a few PB issues the week after I had my last fill, I am by no means uncomfortable if I keep eating slow enough. It sometimes will vary by day, usually the first meal of the day I have to be extra careful...I don't eat breakfast, so that's usually lunch. I hear you on the candy...I work in an insurance office, with a candy bowl on my desk. I used to indulge in the candy, until I began counting calories after surgery and realized, each mini reeses, mini candy bar, etc is 40 calories or more...and who can have just one?? So forget it, that takes away way too much real food I could be eating.

    April Shower Challenge

Today I weigh 132, which was exactly my goal for the month. Yay! I would like to drop another 7 lbs, but it won't be next month. My 1/2 marathon is at the end of May, so I am going in next week to get a slight unfill, as I need to make sure I can get in enough hydration and good calories to combat fatigue during training and the race. I so love hearing how everyone is doing and about everyone's NSVs as well, so I'll definitely be following along with you all in May, and hopefully I can make my final goal in June.

Where Are My April 2012 Sleevers?

  13. Lissa

    Very Discouraged

Add more Water to your daily routine. Walk more, even if it's 20 feet at a time, it will add up. Make sure you are tracking what you are eating on a site like My Fitness Pal (I'm Lissa912 if you want to add me). Make sure you get your 70 grams of Protein per day, together with your 64 oz of water. I drink a few cups of decaf coffee a week to help with the bathroom issues. Quit stressing over the scale. Your clothes are fitting looser, which is great! Did you take pre-op measurements? Take some now and compare them. Look for the non-scale victories (NSVs) and determine that you are going to enjoy this journey! Good luck!

    Priceless Nsv

congrats ! Great nsv ! i read your profile , it shows you were just banded but have lost 80 some lbs. Did i miss something ? By the way, you look great !!
  16. Today I went shopping with my 16 year old daughter and we both bought shirts at Maurice's. Before I began this journey even the largest of their plus line clothes were too small for me. It just felt so good to get to try things on with my daughter in the next dressing room and then give each other our opinions on how things look. Especially when she told me one of the dresses I tried on was too big! Sharing time with your kids and not having to worry about them being embarrassed by your size is PRICELESS!!!!

Nsv - I Got A Job! Multiple Offers!

Congratulations to you! What a great NSV!
  20. I chose to tell only a few friends about the surgery so most do not know. I haven't seen those friends yet, but for the ones that do know...I don't think they notice a difference yet. That's okay I guess..my hubby says that I seem a little smaller because when he hugs me now he can squeeze his arms around me more. - I guess that is a NSV huh? Oh and I did have to be tacky and use a safety pin to hold my pants up in the waist area yesterday...but the pants in question have always been a bit big in the waist. Hips, legs and calf area fit same as usual. I'll keep trucking along and keep working on that thing called "patience."

Nsv - I Got A Job! Multiple Offers!

This is truly an NSV! Congrats on your new found confidence and your new job!
  22. Here's the background data. I took an early retirement package from my employer at the end of December of 2011. They were having some tough times financially and wanted to reduce costs - so when they offered the package, I accepted it. I took a gamble on myself and my skills being marketable in the bad economy. Not a fun time to be in the job market. For those of you who haven't looked for a job recently - it is completely different than it was even two years ago. If you don't know how to use social media, have a great "content-rich" resume, and are willing to network almost continuously, you are going to have a difficult finding a new job. I am 55 years old, and am competing with "kids" half my age and willing to take less money than me for the very same job. Here's the NSV - I received four job offers! The first was about 3 weeks ago, for a contract position - which I accepted. That seemed to bring all sorts of other good things my way. I received three additional job offers in the last ten days. All three of them were good offers for permanent positions (if any jobs these days are really "permanent"). I had the amazing task of deciding which one was the one I wanted - because I would have accepted any one of the three. I did a little negotiating with the companies - to maximize the offers - and picked the winner. I resigned from my contract job, accepted the job I decided on, and told the other two companies, "no thanks". I think the fact that I had successfully lost 100+ pounds and am a "normal" weight both really helped me have a successfull job search. I believe the confidence boost I got from having beat my personal demon carried over into my interviews. I know people looked at me differently during the interview process at a size 12 petite than they would have at a size 26W. I didn't have to worry about hiring managers or human resource people worrying about the costs of insuring an obese person. I think I look younger than I did 100+ pounds ago - and younger is definately better in today's job market. It is going to be nice at the new company to just be known as "Sharon - the new woman" rather than "Sharon - the fat woman who is new". I look forward to planning what I will be wearing the first week of work! Sharon

    April Shower Challenge

Checking in at 201!!! 2 pounds to go....as long as I'm 199 when I step on the cruise ship next friday I'm good with it!!haha NSV----My daughter and I went shopping yesterday for cruise clothes. I grabbed a pair of capris and she met me at the dressing room to "approve" she saw the capris in my hand and said "I just put those back, they were to small for me...you might want a bigger size"....I thought well I will give them a try, just to see how much bigger I needed. BUT THEY FIT!! They actully FIT! they were size 14!! they were slightly (and I mean slightly snug) but nothing 2 or 3 pounds won't take take of!! I don't think my daughter was as excited as me........the shopping trip was now over.---I hated it for her, but I have worked my butt off these last few months!!! But on the other hand, she is very competitive and couldn't stand me being smaller than her.....first thing this morning she was on the treadmill.---I hope she continues....I worry about her so much. I think my enthusiasm is wearing off or her. She sees how much better I feel.

    Bowling!

Hi Everyone, Well, todays exercise was bowling. Proper bowling not wii bowling. The whole family went and we had such a laugh. Ok, I am not a brilliant bowler, in fact because I have weak wrists I can hardly lift the bowling ball, but I do enjoy doing it. (We don't go that often - I think this is the third time in five years!!!) It is so expensive by the time you have two lanes with everybody doing it. My granddaughter loves it too. She still has to use the kiddy helper thing to get the bowling ball where it should be. (My technical knowledge is vast isn't it!!!!) Bless her heart she scored higher than me. Oh well, she enjoyed beating me. So now I am tired but happy, as not only did I bowl, I walked up three flights of stairs to get there and walked down afterwards too. No lifts for me anymore. I guess that is an NSV right there. I didn't have to use the lift! That is a first for me. I also had to dig out some smaller skirts as most of my usual outfits have a habit of sliding to the floor. Woohoo! Everything else is pretty much the same as I have not lost any more weight, but feel sure that I will start losing again soon. I just have to be patient. (not my strongest point). How is everyone else doing? I long to be able to report the pounds are melting off me, but like I say, the scale isn't moving. I do feel thinner though. I think I am finally starting to see a difference when I look in the mirror. Small changes, but they all do add up in the end don't they. Phoenix
