  3. Apple has a good point. Keep seeing different docs until you can figure out what might be going on. A bariatric surgeon might be able to say whether a revision could help. Your family doc should do bloodwork, etc. They can consider giving you nutrition through a stomach tube or I.V. if your life is in danger. [Hugs] hope they can figure something out.

    20lbs a month

Right?! I thought that was odd!! Their practice really goes by statistics and average excess weight loss per month to calculate this but I think it is really unrealistic for a second timer especially. When I mentioned that I was stalled he said it was too early for a stall. He's a great doctor and I really trust him but I think he may not have real life data about what goes on post-op. Thanks! My brain still can't see the loss even though everyone else does. Band to Vsg revision: 5/23/17 HW: 315+ Starting weight: 294 Surgery Day: 281 Current: 235 Goal 170

    20lbs a month

Hi all! First I love my tool and I know I wouldn't have been as successful as I have been without it. Saying that I'm frustrated with a stall and bouncing between the same 3/4 lbs. How the heck can I gain 2-3 lbs in an hour!!! [emoji15][emoji30] I know I shouldn't weigh as often as I do and that that is part of my misery. What can I say I'm addicted!!! On 9/1 I had my 3 month follow up and my doctor said he wanted me at goal (170) by 6 months (12/1). That's another 60 or so pounds and about 20lbs/month. I don't see how that's possible unless I go on a 3 month liquid diet. And with this stall my mind cannot see the finish line. I workout everyday burn around 250-300 calories per workout, keep my carbs low, average about 1000 calories/day, between 80-100 grams of protein, I honestly stink at water and that could be better. I'm strictly sticking to my plan. The NUT wants me to come in, I don't exactly know why, where can I tighten up except my water? I always had it in my mind that I would lose slower because this is my second procedure and was ok with that but now I'm worrying that I'm messing this up. It's like they've never heard that revision patients might lose at a slower pace. Any and all advice/critiques are welcome. Band to Vsg revision: 5/23/17 HW: 315+ Starting weight: 294 Surgery Day: 281 Current: 235 Goal 170
  7. Has anyone had a gastric bypass revision? I have read (although not much is available) about gastric bypass revisions. I was wondering if anyone has had a RNY converted to a VSG. It would be similar to a duodenal switch procedure, but without the biliopancreatic diversion. I already have way too much malabsorption and do not want any more. I have such severe postprandial pain and nausea, that I am developing an aversion to all food. I see my surgeon tomorrow, but am up all night wondering/worrying about tomorrow (surgeon is great, but a bit of a meany)
  8. I would add to the above good advice, it's essential to attend the support group meetings. Most of them are monthly, but where ever you live may offer them at various locations. I had the Lapband revision with Gastric bypass 12 days out. I know from experience when I had the band several years ago, the support group meeting was invaluable! If/when you do share with loved ones, start by letting them know your difficult decision was for your health. Chin up! The mixed emotions are to be expected in the beginning. Pcos

I have the lapband but I'm getting a revision to sleeve on October 3rd. Anyway I also have PCOS. Maybe one or two times a year I have a period. If even that. Anyway my first child was with the help of chlomid. Then 2 chlomid miscarriages. Then I had 3 more children with the help of Femera and the lapband weight loss I'm sure. Anyway if you haven't tried femera it was amazing. Since I used it my sister has as well and 3 of my cousins. All resulting in healthy babies.:) Mine are now 16-12-10 and 4 sending you lots of luck❤️

Lap Band Revision to the Sleeve

I was also banded in 2009, in Mexico, and I lost about 80 pounds. I've since gained it all back. Last year I started the process to have a revision to sleeve. I took all the required nutrition classes and I had an Upper GI to check my band. It all looked fine but obviously needs to come out. I am scheduled for surgery on 10/2 to remove the band and have the sleeve done. I'm scared, nervous and excited. This is going to be so much different than the first time. We will have success this time around. I have to keep telling myself that.
  11. 5 years out Lost 118lbs gained 75lbs with my last pregnancy currently up 62 pounds from my lowest (goal weight) considering the Apollo Overstitch for revision if/when I can find a surgeon close enough and experienced
  12. Dr. Michaelson did my band back in 2010 and removed my gallbladder in 2011. He is awesome. He didn't do my revision but that is only because I moved.
  13. I'm getting my endoscopy there tomorrow and lapband to sleeve revision there on October 3rd.

    Relief:)

Hi Friends, I am getting lapband to sleeve revision on October 3rd. I have had the lapband for 14.5 years!! Done in Mexico. I maintained a significant weight loss and was a size 4-6 all of those years. Including having 4 children. But... In the last 5 years I have had a huge amount of problems with it. Gerd, back pain, vomiting and so many more. It turns out a ton of scar tissue build up as well. It just dawned on me that I actually get it out once and for all!!!!!! Yay!!!!! Anyone else in a similar situation?:)

    Revision

I didn't know that you could revision from sleeve to bypass! Not sure how that works. Do they charge the same as a regular bypass? I'm confused because the stomach has been removed and you just have the pouch. Sorry for the ignorance.

    Revision

Hello. I had my rny 2003 and due to my 3rd back surgery and not being able to do much of anything I gained my weight back. I feel so disgusted with myself. I felt so good and now so awful and it won't come off. My doc said she won't do a revision as the pouch is fine even though it's at 5-7cm. I do have a little tail that she's going to cut off during my hernia surgery but that's it. I'm tempted to go to someone else for possible revision.
  18. I had revision from band to bypass.

Revision from sleeve to Rny bc of gerd

I actually ended up having surgery on September 1st- it went really well! I lost around 100 pounds with the sleeve and am a normal BMI. My revision was solely for GERD and vomiting.

    Esophageal Problems

I had the same problem with a massively dilated esophagus. Got the fill removed and it got better. Unfortunately I had to have a revision anyway because of ongoing reflux problems.

    Newbie Intro

Hi I am getting a band to sleeve revision soon also. Welcome !
  23. Best of luck to you on this revision. Can you tell me more about the mini gastric bypass? How is it different then the regular bypass?
  24. I was banded in 2006 (private pay) and thought I did fairly well going from 220lb to 150lb in the first year or so. Over the next 10 years, I had my third child and managed to maintain about a 55lb loss. I was and remain dedicated to work outs 4-5 days a week. However, I never felt like I ever found that "sweet spot" with my fills. I had to make a 14 hour round trip for fills and the surgeon I had was the least compassionate, most fat phobic person I've ever encountered. How he got into that line of work I'll never know. Unfortunately, he was the only option in near my home town at the time when Lap-band was fairly new in Canada. I spent most of the time either feeling hungry or nauseated/stuffed and if I'm honest with myself, I think a threw up at least once almost every day of that 10 years (surgically induced bulimia?) Last year things got bad with my band. It became way too tight (even when completely unfilled) and I experienced terrible reflux at night and could barely tolerate fluids. It had to be removed. Luckily another surgeon closer to my home had started to do band surgery and was willing to remove it. He said with the earlier versions of the Lap-band, they often become inflexible and too tight after a long period of time. With this surgeon, my only option was to replace it with another gastric band (Mid-band is his device of choice). I could not convert to a sleeve or bypass as this is not offered as a private pay option in the province where I reside. There is a 5-7 year waitlist for government-funded weight loss surgeries. He said he wanted to see how I did with it out and that he "had faith in" my ability to keep the weight off. Well, I think we all know what the research says about gastric band removals. Despite my best efforts to watch what I ate and maintain my exercise routine, I regained almost all of the weight. Even though I eat a healthy diet (way healthier than what I could tolerate with the band), in less than a year I found myself 10lbs shy of my highest weight. My blood sugar and blood pressure are creeping up and I'm noticing more PCOS symptoms again. So, I started researching self-pay options for gastric sleeve surgery out of province. The surgeon I consulted with feels that the MGB is the best option for me. I'm not thrilled about paying for this again along with airfare and hotel. And not only do I get the pleasure of paying for WLS twice, it's extra because revision surgery requires more OR time. But I think my health is worth it. I'm booked for September 28th and have started my 2-week pre-op liquid diet (blech!) Part of me is scared that the surgery won't work. I feel like I have the slowest metabolism in the world. This, combined with my meds that promote weight gain and my PCOS, makes it feel like the odds are against me. However, my surgeon reassures me I'll do well. I've found reading about others' successful revisions also very encouraging. Thanks for reading my story.
