  1. First, don't compare yourself to others (but FYI, I lost nothing the first week and a half and it took me 3 months to lose 30 pounds. I was thrilled. I considered myself lucky because losing slowly is much healthier) Second, you are losing so whats the problem Three, you are approaching the famous 3 week stall so you may not lose anything for a couple weeks. It's normal. Fourth, this surgery is meant to be a lifetime commitment, not a race to see how fast you can take off the weight it took years (or decades) to put on. Your goal should be eating healthy and establishing new habits, not watching numbers. I suggest staying off the scale for 1-2 months. Measure your progress with NSV's rather than meaningless numbers on the scale. I don't even own a scale at only weighed at the doctor's office for the first couple months. You are adding unnecessary stress to your life by worrying about these things. Just get in all your Protein, Water and Vitamins, and trust the process.

Now thats a cool NSV Betje.... glad your feeling like a million bucks.. you go girl
  3. I really do not enjoy when the scale seems to get stuck for a few weeks. Usually during that time I really concentrate on either NSV or how my clothes are fitting. Though in my head I am thinking that I look like I was a teen but the mirror says something else. I guess somewhere in between lies the real you.

    Warm Weather NSV

Flip flops were NOT what I was hoping for when I saw "Warm Weather NSV"... And for the record, here in Australia, we call flip flops thongs... And what you call thongs, we call niiiiiiiiiice (G-string actually)... Anyway... Good on you for whatever you said after 'flip flops'... I kinda lost interest once I saw that..
  6. so the weather is getting warmer and that means my favorite thing...flip flops!!! so I needed to prepare and realized another NSV...easily painting my own toenails woooo!!!!

Bahahahhaha!!! Thats hilarious! What a great NSV. Thank you for sharing this.
  10. This past week has been pretty awesome. My birthday happened to be my 6th month surgiversary. My lovely wife has planned us a trip to NYC for a birthday present. She didn't book it until after the reveal, just to make sure I was ok with it. Heck yeah I'm ok with it. Thanks to my sleeve: I've lost 74lbs. I'm not apprehensive about flying. We're even flying Southwest w/o preselecting seats. I would never have done that in the past. We're going to see a broadway show and a Rangers game and I'm not stressed about fitting in the seats. We're going to a couple if museums and I'm not worried about all the walking. And I went to get some new clothes because change of seasons plus a trip = I want clothes that fit. I'm a size 14! Not a 14w, but a 14. In Levi's, at the Gap, at Macy's...I am amazed. Just last month I was getting clothes for a funeral and I was wearing an 18 or 14/16w. Most of all, my self-confidence is making a comeback. I didn't realize how low it had gotten over the years.

Today is my one year Bandiversary!

Happy bandiversary!! Congrats on all your NSV & weight loss! You have saved your own life that's inspiriational!
  12. I am 62 years young. I have lost 100 lbs since lapband pre-diet and surgery on 10/30/09. Mostly I have been walking and doing weights exercise at the gym. I noticed my arms tightening up and my husband commented last week about my thighs. And, I had a NSV today, a lady that did not know me before my 100 loss, but was aware of the loss, told me that I had great looking legs and had I lost a lot there. You can tighten flabby skin, but it doesn't happen overnight! Karen(kll724). (by the way, no plastic surgery for this girl)!!
  13. I went in for my annual eye exam and there are no signs that my bout with diabetes has done any damage to my retina and that diabetes is no longer present in my eyes.

  15. I think that a lesson many people need to learn and understand. Calories eaten need to be less than calories burned .. the math is simple but application sometimes is hard .. great nsv tho well done

I'm eating like a normal person

It is an NSV! Celebrate!! Went out to eat last night to a BBQ joint. I ordered the sliders appetizer, no buns. When the plate arrived with three "dollops" of meat I thought maybe I should have ordered a side too. Nope, half of it was left on my plate and I was full. Funny thing was when my friend apologized for eating her bun in front of me. It's the second time that has happened. Oddly enough I don't feel deprived like I have in the past so I hadn't even thought about it. Weird how these surgeries work on your brain just a little.
  17. I would just like to share my newest NSV. I wore this dress to my best friends wedding last night. It may not seem like a big deal to some of you but I haven't worn a dress since I was 12. I wore it and I liked it!! I will be adding more to my wardrobe I blocked out the others for privacy. It was pretty exciting for me. At 267lbs I didn't look good in anything form fitting. It was a special night all around. It's the little things that mean so much! Update: Picture of the back of it for the ladies interested in it.

That's great! Good for you. And I love how you listed all of your things...SV...NSV...fears, etc. made me think about a few things for myself. I am scheduled to go on July 12, and am excited to get started on this journey. I hope my recovery goes as smoothly as your seems to be.
