Why don't more people use Genepro?

I'm not sure why more people don't use Genepro, but I love it. I've been using it since after surgery and so far so good. It may be because you have to order it online and some folks don't want to wait. I've seen skeptics and downright haters of this particular product because it seems unbelievable to them that it could do what it claims to do. Kinda like my grandmother the first time she saw me with a cell phone.

    Unflavored Protein question

What do you put your Genepro in? I have some and tried it with watered down juice (I can't handle artificial sweeteners) and it made it change a weird color and get really THICK. And it was a large glass. Yuck. I use it in coffee every morning...I dissolve it in some half and half in the bottom of the cup, with a fork, then add the coffee. If you don't use cream, some lukewarm Water works too. I also put it in refried Beans, yogurt, soup...anything loose or moist works well. And I tried something new the other day that worked fine: I think you probably know about my incessant struggle with meat, so cheese is a huge source of protein for me. I like the La Tortilla Factory high pro/high fiber/low carb tortillas, so I took one of the small ones they made and made a quesadilla like I usually do, but I tossed the shredded cheese in some Protein Powder before I put it in the tortilla. I used the rest of the scoop in the sour cream + salsa mixture I make to dip it in. That little bit of extra effort got me 20+ grams protein in my quesadilla The secret to Genepro, in my experience, is to mix it into something cold or cool then add it to warm liquids. I add it directly to warm thicker foods like refried beans with no problems. I don't use it in cold liquids at all, since all I drink is water. I'd think you could mix it into lemonade, though, in a shaker bottle then let it sit for a few minutes for the foam to settle.

    January Sleevers ❄️

Hi everyone! I am six days postop. I was sleeved on January 8. The day of my surgery was horrible. I was sick and nauseous all day long. i'm not sure if it was the anesthesia or the pain medicine or both. But I was dry heaving and crying. It wasn't until late that night they got me the right combination of antinausea medicine and pain medicine. Since then things have been pretty good. I've stopped taking the pain medicines although I do have discomfort and pain at times in my stomach near my incision spots. One odd thing that has happened since the beginning. I get this wave across the top of my stomach that's a mix of nausea/Hunger. It passes in about 5 to 10 seconds but it stops me in my tracks. I'm not sure what that is. it has gotten less frequent as the days go on. The first few days I was nowhere close to where I needed to be with fluid intake. But I've been getting better every day and yesterday I went well beyond what I needed. protein hasn't been that difficult, surprisingly. I am using Genepro unflavored protein powder. If you've seen any of my other posts, you know I don't really like it and it doesn't dissolve well. However for 1 tablespoon you get 30 g of protein. So twice a day I suck it up and make it work with the broth or sugar free hot chocolate. I joined a new gym and walked 30 minutes on the treadmill today. I'm waiting for a call back from my doctors office now to switch to phase 2 which would be full liquids. Phase 2 doesn't seem to be that different than phase 1 except I can have pudding watered down with skim milk or applesauce. Anyone have any suggestions for the phase 2 part of the diet?

    genepro vs isopure

Ok so there are those who swear by GENEPRO and those who like others. The key to any is that you don't go over 140 degrees with Water mixing. I have mixed Isopure with cold water and hot broth. I love it it is tasteless I find it odorless it is inexpensive in comparison to some other brands. You can get it at Vitamin shoppe GNC or Amazon For me, genepro seems like a shady company that also hawks "natural steroids" with a lot of scam appearing science. And I cannot get over the 30g of Protein in 15 g serving. I am all about reasonable space time continuum. unjury starter kit is nice because you get their chicken broth (yum!) a thermometer and shaker bottle Best of luck!

    New to fifties group

Hi all I am in the week 3 stall but hanging in there. I am really tired, but that may partly be from not being able to do much because of my ankle. I can now put a little weight on it, so I will be going back to work part- time Wednesday. I hope my energy will improve as I get out more. Working hard to get my protein in. I ordered the Genepro, thanks for the suggestion BellaLuce4.

Truly don't know what to do

No no...the protein powder I just got "Genepro" is 30g per 1 Tbls. So that's perfect. But how much soup are you adding that to? I just made lemon pudding with 2 Tbls of protein (60 g). I'm eating a little now, but put the rest in popscicle molds for Jello Protein Pudding Pops!

Truly don't know what to do

If you are using the GENEPRO - they have a small scoop in the bag. One scoop is 30 grams of protein. I would start with that. I think if some things have more protein, they are harder to get down. I had to force myself to drink my Protein shakes. It's not a matter of "this tastes great", right now it's a matter of - I've got to get this down.

    anyone getting sleeved in DECEMBER?

@@Ronab My surgery isn't until 12/18 but I started prepping a few weeks ago. Here's what I've done. 3 weeks ago I slowly weaned myself off caffeine. 2 weeks ago I gave up alcohol and started chewing each SMALL bite of food 30 times. 1 week ago I started REALLY pushing getting my Water in. This past weekend I had my last carbonated beverage and am now water or decaf tea only. This week I also started a liver/kidney detox tea. This week I am also replacing 1 meal a day with a Protein shake, just to get in gear for my 2 week pre-op diet that starts on 12/4. On the Monday after Thanksgiving I am going to start 2 shake replacements a day. Another thing I have done is I took a cardboard box and covered it in a really pretty paper (the kind with the sticky back) and I'm keeping all my pre-op and post-op items in there. I have several brands and samples of Protein shakes, a new thermometer, GENEPRO, Biotene mouth spray, Gas-X strips, lip balm (for hospital), a Glade plug-in (for hospital), a brand new water bottle, and other things.
  9. Fruit juice is a no-no for ever more. It is liquid sugar. Use whole fruit and berries in your protein shakes. Whole fruits and berries contain fiber which helps metabolize carbohydrates. Using them eliminates the need for sugar and sugar substitutes. Once you are weaned off sugar and sugar substitutes, fruit will taste remarkably sweet! There are recipes for home-made protein drinks online and in bariatric cookbooks. Here is one from The Bariatric Diet Guide and Cookbook, called "The Elvis": It makes 12 oz. You will only be able to drink about 1 oz at a time at first. If you don't drink it all in one day, you can save it for the next. I like variety, so I would switch it with other flavors. 12 oz contains 31g protein, but you can add unflavored protein powder. One scoop of Genepro unflavored protein powder would add 30 g protein. 1/2 C plain Greek no-fat yogurt 1 large ripe banana 1/2 C ice 1 Tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder 1/4 C natural creamy peanut butter 1 small handful baby spinach Optional: 1 scoop unflavored protein powder In a high-speed blender, combine all ingredients. Blend for 2 to 5 minutes until smooth) NOTE: Be sure to use an all-natural peanut butter that contains only Peanuts and salt in the ingredients. The High Protein Bariatric Cookbook says: "The basics of a protein shake include about 1 cup plain nonfat Greek yogurt, or 1 cup milk mixed with 1 tablespoon protein powder and either 1/2 cup frozen fruit or 1 tablespoon nut butter. Then for flavor ad about 1 teaspoon of extract, cocoa powder, and/or flavored sugar-free syrup or low- to no-calorie sweetener. ...If you make your own protein shakes, the flavor profiles are limitless, and you will know the ingredients going into them. Then, when you have symptoms, it will e easier to identify what the possible cause may be. However, there may be times when a prepackaged protein shake will be more convenient, so do what works for you and hooks you stuck ti tier nutrition goals." The Lifebridge Health website contains about 30 protein shake recipes. Google "make bariatric protein shakes" to find many more recipes. Your protein shakes count toward your daily fluid intake. During the first few weeks of recovery fluid intake is your most important priority. Consume protein as you can. "You MUST get your fluids in. You SHOULD meet your protein goals. If you CAN, take your vitamins." Matthew Weiner, MD, The Bariatric Diet Guide and Cookbook.

    One month post op problems

Yeah lots of mixed info out there about GENEPRO. A search of the site will show it's pretty controversial. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    One month post op problems

With all that said about GENEPRO how may I ask can they get away with stating it has 30grams when it really has 15. For myself I LOVE it!! Now I'm not just saying this like I am new at this Protein dilemma I'm 3 years out. I started my Preop diet of Protein drinks for 2 weeks and my postop I used PREMUIR Protein drinks. I had 4 weeks of BACK DOOR TROTS!! I became Lactose Intolerant. On to trying to find a drink that I liked. I would honestly hate to find out how much money I had spent on protein junk!! So this GENEPRO is the only one that has lived up to the no taste thing!! For one thing, I am a coffee drinker so I make me a cup of Keurig espresso coffee and I add GENEPRO to it!! No change in taste or texture. I would drink my coffee anyway so for me it is a WIN WIN!!

The need to eat until stuffed

@@bleonhardt It doesn't change it at all, at least to my palate. I use cream in my coffee, so I mix the scoop of GENEPRO with the coffee cream, then mix that into my coffee. It's really helped me and made my weight loss more successful!

The need to eat until stuffed

Thanks for the info, Jerome at unjury...I'm well aware of the 'concerns' about Genepro. Your product unfortunately makes me vomit, so I've found something else that works. I'm losing weight and my labs have been stellar.

    December Surgery dates???

Thanks everyone! The nausea has subsided, I really got nauseous when they had given me the dilaudid for pain. I’m home now, took an oral dilaudid and it didn’t do much for pain. Had picked up some liquid Tylenol and gas-x, trying to get the Tylenol down now but gosh is that stuff disgusting 🤮! Suture sites are very sore and have a bit of a headache. Very bloated, but not gassy. The largest incision site was bleeding a little bit so I put a large bandage over it. Still getting up to walk as much as possible. Had about 2.5 oz of broth w/ a small amount of genepro around 430. Going to try a SF ice pop before bed. hope everyone is doing well!

What Is Your Beverage of Choice?

@@PorkChopExpress I haven't used the GENEPRO in a cold liquid yet...there's no grittiness or chalkiness? I use it every single morning in my coffee and am a huge fan.

What Is Your Beverage of Choice?

@@Sai Thank you so much! I'm going to order the grains right away...I really need to be on probiotics regularly and I like kefir a great deal. This is awesome! @@PorkChopExpress GENEPRO is a bit pricey, but I buy so little food now that it's totally in the budget! Thanks for the info, you made my day
  18. I used Un jury unflavored protein and you can mix it in anything up to 140 degrees. That was warm enough for me. supposedly genepro can be mixed with anything at any temperature. Never tried it. And I rarely cook, much less make soup, so they all came from a can, box or whatever the daily specials were at the local deli or soup/salad bar at the whole food store.
  19. Kindle gave some good suggestions. As for where to buy unflavored Protein there are brands such as Prosource, GENEPRO and Isopure. Prosource and Genepro are available online only as afar as I know, but Isopure can be purchased at GNC or Vitamin Shoppe. All 3 can be mixed with cold or hot beverages. Do not get discouraged if you don't like the first Protein Drink you buy or even the 2nd, 3rd, or 4th. I went through several before I found protein I liked that didn't trigger my allergies. Water is important, but as long as you get in some type of fluids, you won't get dehydrated. However you have to get in something. Don't suffer with a beverage you can't stand.

    Coffee after gastric sleeve

I am a coffee fiend!! I have always drank coffee since I was a young kid. I never gave up my coffee. Right after I was released from the hospital and I had to stay in a Motel until my 1 week check up I didn't want anything to do with coffee at all. I did get over that pretty quickly. I was never told to nor drink it. In fact at most of my follow ups I had a big cup og joe with me!! I know put GENEPRO in my Espresso everyday. It is a win win for me because I would drink the coffee anyway.

The Good The Bad & The Nasty

My Nutritionist said they were great!!! So of course, I ran down to Kmart and looked for them, They were the slimest gross tasting yucky thick something that I couldn't put in my mouth again!! My nurse told me about this unflavored Protein. It was called PROTOX or something like that (it was 4 years ago) I paid $19.95 for 1, Of course, I bought 2. They were so slimy I couldn't even get 1 TBS down. I am so glad I found unflavored GENEPRO!!! It has saved my life I have it in my Espresso every day. This is a great way to find out what is good or not!!
  22. GENEPRO IS LIFE! no taste, no texture...just a good amount of protein!

    Protein shakes?

Hi, premier protien shakes 30 grams are good. They just came out with banana and caramel. Atkins 20 grams has some drinks that are good too. I was also told about genepro powder 30 grams odorless, tasteless and can be mixed in hot and cold into anything. I found it in one of my GNC'S or else they have it online. Good luck.

    November 2020 sleevers

Cinnamon roll... Interesting. I got the Equate high protein (it's very similar to Premier) in caramel the other day, and I was very surprised at how good it was. Like, I'd love to put it into coffee (I don't drink coffee anymore because I cannot drink it without SO much sugar and creamer... It was really an unhealthy amount). Dunno how I'll react to them AFTER the surgery, though. I'll have to look into that clear protein. Though I may just use Genepro in some water with Mio in it...
