    Severe back pains!

I don't think it's TMI. We have to help each other here. (I can type better now versus being on my phone.) Please, everyone, do your best to get in you fluids. There is no, repeat NO pain like kidney stone pain and I ended up evening having surgery and a stint - another event that I never want to repeat!! I didn't see blood - that would have easily confirmed it for me since I'm post-hysterectomy - but the pain was unreal! The stint was . . . indescribable. I just still don't know what to say and this was February 2017. I'm still shook.

    Severe back pains!

I'm pretty sure that I passed a stone about 5 weeks postop although I never sought help. My back hurt for three days and it hurt to go to the bathroom. TMI alert: after about 7 hours of overnight agony, I wiped and there was blood ... I assumed I was starting my period (ugh) but immediately all my pain was gone.... Definitely call....I didn't and now I feel like I have undocumented issues. I
  3. Haha. This probably an odd question, but maybe not? What happens if you are on your period during the surgery? Do they let you use tampons or free flow (haha) everywhere? I'm probably going to be on mine when I have surgery, so I wanted to know what to expect.

    Surgery Tomorrow!

TMI. But I'm on liquids today. Did anyone else experience very loose bowels? It's only 9:30am and I've been to the bathroom 3 times. Not a good day to go to the beach I must say. Blessings, Ashley
  5. I've lost a good bit by now (84lbs with 39 to go) my belly button isn't getting any air and it's gross and smelly and wet. Sooo gross. I've tried lotrimin spray and alcohol to clean it but it's still gross. Any advise on how to deal with this? Also when do you start thinking about plastic surgery. Again I still have a ways to go but I'm already seeing belly button issues and thinking I need to wrap my head around another surgery. And also what's the chance I get my insurance company to pay for it? Band to sleeve revision surgery 1/16/17 HW: 283 CW: 199 GW: 160
  6. Has anyone has impacted stool? Yesterday morning I noticed that I was having trouble and that I hadn't really experienced anythikng like it before. I am 2 no the post op RNY and have suffered some constipation but for the most part have had regular am BM. I've had to to some unorthodox things to help with this situation and last night I drank some milk of magnesia to maybe help soften what was left. Well this morning I found myself batrlijng the softr stool that was stuck behind the hard stool. I'm scared, I don't want to injure myself but now whatever is left is causing some annoying discomfort. Help a girl out...the last thing I want is a rubber glove and a doctor [emoji24] Sent from my SM-G950U using BariatricPal mobile app

    Dumb move.

You are being way too hard on yourself but good to own up on mistakes. We all have and will make them. I've found this to be an exploratory journey and learning how/what to eat again. I was working sucking on an apple sauce pouch and ate it in like 5 minutes, 3.5oz, didn't think anything of it but then my stomach got super full after 15 minutes and I had to keep spitting in my trash can to avoid vomitting (TMI). I know I'll never do that again! BTW - congrats on the new job!
  8. 11 days post op and i already pureed veggies in broth, although  im very concerned and this might be tmi but i have not had a bowl movement since before i had the sleeve done is it normal? has this happened to anyone else? Please help i dont see my Dr till june 14th what do i do?

You need to get things moving now. Go get a fleet enema (pick up several) from the store. Plan to spend 30 minutes in the bathroom.

Once you go, then use any combination of miralax, milk of magnesia, smooth move tea, suppositories, and enemas to get going every couple or three days.

If the enema today doesn't produce anything, use another right away. Still nothing? Contact your doctor!

    Dumping??

Hi sorry if this is TMI ... but just wanted to get some input. I'm 7 months out from sleeve surgery and I've been doing great. The occasional dumping if I eat something I'm Not suppose too.... however suddenly the past 5 days I haven't been able to hold anything down! I think I had food poisoning from some fish I ate the first two days... but it hasn't stopped. Any little thing I eat runs thru me... even water makes me go to the bathroom #2! Anyone been through the same thing or similar?? Any tips?
  10. Update, day 4: I'm still in a lot of pain. Barely getting enough liquid/calories/protein in. Yesterday I pushed myself and managed to get in about 220 calories and 40 grams of protein, but probably only about 20 ounces of water on top of that. I'm peeing, so I'm not super worried about being overly dehydrated. This morning I'm having bad waves of pain. Different from other days. And this is probably way TMI, but is it normal to not have a BM 4 days after surgery? I figure it's because I haven't really had any food? I'm going to be emailing my doctor's office this am too, but interested as always in hearing what all of you say!
  11. You guys I got norovirus last week and it was VERY bad. TMI - from both ends. When I was throwing up I feel like I damaged my stomach. I'm 8-9 months from surgery so stomach should be healed by now but I can't eat. I thought I felt better and started introducing 'normal' food on Saturday. I've only been able to eat crackers which I know is a no no. I can't eat protein as I just get so nauseous and feel like I'm going to puke. Anyone had norovirus after surgery? How long did it take to recoup? I'm still quite tired but was able to go to the gym today. I don't want to undo all I've done because of this stupid thing. Any advice is greatly appreciated. I'm so close to calling the surgeon.

QUESTION FOR LADIES ONLY - UTIs

You may want to visit a urologist to see if there is an underlying cause. I once read an account from someone that had a kind of pouch form on her urethra. The pouch held onto infected liquid, and so the infection never really would clear. Thus, recurrent infections. I have no idea how common such a thing could be, but just thought I'd mention it. And, of course, cranberry juice, orange juice, lots of water, etc. Personally, I've only ever had two (touch wood), and they both happened after TMI... anal sex... despite a shower right after. Be sure to empty your bladder after any sex. (I know it is tempting to go right to sleep). There are supplements that are supposed to help, but I'm not that versed in them. Good luck, and let us know if you figure anything out!
  13. Also please watch out for that time of the month while you recover as those emotions are UNREAL Lol (Tmi I started hardcore yesterday and literally cried for nothing it was crazy and I felt like so crazy.)

    1 Year Post-op Slow andSteady

Thank you so much! I finally dropped 2 more pounds. And actually (tmi as well) I'm experiencing issues with constipation as well. :/ I am going to try taking something to help. I guess Metamucil. Thanks again for the encouragement.

    1 Year Post-op Slow andSteady

Yes 33 lbs in 7 weeks is pretty amazing .. i also had a couple stalls in the very beginning but i was also really constipated ALL THE TIME (sorry TMI), it started to discourage me so i stopped weighing myself every day .. i notice it always seems to work its self out . But you are doing an amazing job keep it up !!

    Obsessed with weight loss

I think at first we all like to keep getting on the scale. I know I did! But it's not good to weigh everyday! Weight fluctuates so much it's better to just keep it to a schedule! (Like tmi but you weigh one thing then you take a big poop and boom you're a pound less! You didn't really loose a pound but the scale says you did) I would pick something like weigh every two weeks and continue to give it your all with diet and exercise! The weight will come off your clothes will start to fit looser it just takes time. I mean we didnt gain it all in one day we cant loose it all in one day.(But man would that be nice?) 17. I bought some Yakult Probiotic drinks. I'm taking one a day. Might be tmi, but I've gotten a yeast infection. Everything is off...all my good bacteria went somewhere. Trying to replace it now. Argh....

    What do we need!?

I completely agree with hopefulvspgirl I bought so many protien shakes I couldn't stand them after surgery so a lot of $$ down the drain. I also me get used baby plates or cutlery. The one recommendation I have is probably TMI but I would have Monistat our some form thereof my doctor had me on so many antibiotics while I was in the hospital that I was miserable about 3 days in at home. Hope this helps! Best of luck to you! Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G891A using BariatricPal mobile app
  19. Hey all, so I was sleeved on 5/23. I am so grateful for everything I've learned from this board just by reading people's stories, so hopefully, someone can benefit from mine... My surgery was at 9:15 am this Tuesday. On my way to the hospital, I was complaining to my sister that I wish my surgery was outpatient instead of I day inpatient stay because I was so sure I'd be fine and just wasting my time in a hospital... boy was I wrong! Apparently I don't tolerate anesthesia well at all. I woke up in the PACU in horrible pain and severe nausea/gagging/abdominal spasms that were almost nonstop. The last time I had surgery was when I was a kid and I just remember waking up and feeling a bit of pain then.. I thought it may be the same. I was transferred to my unit for my first night and every few minutes I was calling the nurse for pain meds or nausea meds, or both. They had me on 3 different types of medications for nausea, 2 different pain meds. Despite this, I was still having significant breakthrough pain and nausea. I couldn't get out of my bed at all, let alone walk a few hours after surgery. The entire time I kept thinking what the heck did I do to myself and I wondered whether I'd be sent home feeling this way. I didn't get more than a few minutes of sleep the entire night. All of the nurses on the floor did everything they could to help me out and I could not be more grateful for such a wonderful team caring for me. The next morning I was still on max doses of all the same medications, but I was starting to feel better. Started walking with the nurse's assistant and took a few more laps around the floor throughout the day. I had lots of secretions in my lungs that was keeping my oxygen saturation down, so I had to clear them out. By evening time, I was more stable, but I still had not peed and was not passing gas. This may be TMI but they had to catheterize me 5 times I had to stay inpatient for another night so they could monitor my urine output. This morning I woke up much better, just trying to take in all of my fluids, but I'm getting small bouts of nausea from just one 1oz of liquid per hour. It's slowly getting better, but I'm still behind on my fluids. Anyway, I'm so happy to finally be home. I'm gonna keep drinking fluids like it's my job. I also wanted to add a couple of things people may find helpful: First, if you are out of surgery and having trouble tolerating plain water, try a flavored water. I never was much of a fan of flavored water pre-op, but it helped me so much after surgery. Second, if you are having bouts of nausea, ask the nurse for some alcohol prep pads (the ones they swipe you with before you get an injection), place it under your nose and keep inhaling. This may seem strange, but it kills nausea and worked great while I was waiting for my IV nausea meds to be administered. I hope my story didn't scare anyone off. Everyone responds to anesthesia differently, I guess I'm one of the unfortunate people who have a hard time with it. I also hear for most people the first night is by far the worst, and that was definitely the case for me. I started feeling much better by the next morning. Good luck to everyone!

    One week-Post op- HELP!

@PAguy I had no problems with liquids, I did have problems with each transition... there is a reason I always tell people to bring an extra pair of underwear along. When I felt the need to go, it was probably too late, I know TMI. I can say that it will eventually get better, and your husband will love you regardless. I would say it could be dumping syndrome. I also find it odd you are not taking your supplements. I had to start taking them 3 days post op. It took me about 45 minutes to get them all down.... Have you checked your blood pressure??? It is concerning that you are dizzy/light headed... are you really getting your fluids in a day???
  21. so i had my surgery on the 18th, everything went well, no complications, got discharged the next day. told me that if i dont go to the bathroom by sunday to take mirolax. so i did half dose last night& the rest this morning. i just wanna know if anyone has any suggestions that will make me go to the bathroom. sorry if its a bit tmi but its scaring me because i am in discomfort from being bloated and it makes me not want my protein shakes, and me not having protein shakes makes me incredibly dizzy and weak, which makes me unable to walk a lot which is what i should be doing to let the gas out. i just wanna know if anyone had this same problem and what would they recommend
  22. Sounds like me. I was sleeved on the 15th. Started the bathroom trips on the 18th, part diarrhea and some solids together. (Sorry if tmi) I too got spasms especially afterwards. It seems to have died down somewhat, but I did have another episode this morning. I am just doing my best to make sure I've got water in. I've read others who've been through it too, so it can be normal. But your best bet is to call your doc is you're more concerned then I am. Lol. Blessings to you! Hope it goes away soon.
  23. @Alimap300 @bilisgfy @justJoan looks like we are all May 25 surgery date (apologies if I left anybody out - but please shout out so I know who my May 25 sleeve buddies are). Lovely to know that there are some other people out there going through exactly the same thoughts fears and realities I'm about to go through on Thursday. I am suffering badly with gas... from both ends. Apologies for the TMI - but neither have ever been an issue for me before, so not sure if it's the liquid diet - my stomach still readjusting after band removal.. but hope it gets better on the other side :-)
  24. Hey guys.. thought I would update on what I've been eating as Iam so full of energy, I don't get hungry and have been out and about. So I changed what I previously said about my intake. Let me start by saying I'm on clear liquid diet for 2 weeks.. on tuesday I will start my last week. I now have only water, chicken broth, beef broth, vegetable broth.. a little jello here and there to change it up and now the most important a drink called cocotein for my protein intake. Cocotein is a clear liquid , whey protein and your body absorbs 100% of the protein and I use this to make up for the low calorie intake I'm on now. I stopped doing apple juice, cranberry juice and grape juice because I noticed it would give me a little heartburn slightly and sometimes and also the runs sorry tmi but it's for information purposes. With the cocotein i feel soo good and not deprived. I dont take any pain meds, i havent vomited thank god, I've passed gas tmi, but overall great. And i also try not to drink anything cold cold straight from the fridge, i let my drink chill a little first because if I dont I might feel it going down my esophagus slowly and that's uncomfortable, but I know that will change later on.
  25. Same here. No bm. My doc told me if I don't have one by a Friday, tomorrow, I need to take milk of magnesia to get things going. All the meds will constipate us. But happily I have been tooting, I know, maybe tmi, but I'm glad it's happening. Less gas to deal with. I'm cold. Before and after surgery, always. Wearing a big hoodie, fleece pjs pants, socks, and have a fleece blanket on top. Lol
