Hi Vanessa: Honestly, ever since my first pregnancy ended, I've had trouble with my Band everytime I've refilled. It's always looked fine on fluoro.. but behaved strangely. It's driven me crazy... as I self-pay for fills and fluoro... only to have to have the fill removed a few weeks later. I'm wondering if part of it is psychological... that I just couldn't get back into thinking/eating like a Bandster. I also experienced tremendous hunger along with my restriction... which had never happened before. I'm going to try and refill again after this pregnancy... and will give it 6 months. If I can't figure things out, I'll probably have my Band removed and go for a VSG. I hope you have better luck than I did If you're breastfeeding, your hormones still could be a little wacky. Karla

As my doc gave me rules..... each doc is different.... No drinking 30 min or so before meals/and no drinking at meals/or 1 hour after meals... eat only three small meals daily... stop eating with first faint signs of satisfaction/fullness-- DO NOT take one more bite... always eat Protein first, then veggies, and last are carbs... eat only "good" foods/like good for you foods.... low or no cal. beverages between meals/ like no milkshakes etc.... THERE ARE 6 TO START WITH... I CAN'T THINK OF THEM ALL RIGHT NOW(it's late, lol) Good Luck getting back on track, hope the tightness is nothing to worry about.

Yeah your having way to much pain for being a week post op :think Did you go to a Oral surgeon? When is the last time he physically saw you? Get back in there. I had mine out years ago all 4 at one time, no it was not a pleasant experience. I was swelled up and black and blue forever. I sympathize with you greatly. Do Ice packets help? I thought straws were a no no. Any way (((((SOFT HUGS))))) to you and hope you feel better soon

I had some sticking out too. One I actually pulled out myself because it was after my first surgery and more than 5 weeks had gone by. It was all dissolved and just sitting there in its little hole. The other two were left over from my 3rd surgery and were very long. They were very firmly in place so at my first fill the doc pulled them out. It is best to leave them alone and they should dissolve. If they don't have your doc pull them out at your next appointment. It is normal to have stitches sticking out after surgery. It happens.

First Day of 3 Day Liquid Diet-Surgery Date Thursday!
HappyMom replied to Rebeccastl615's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Three days is fantastic! I was only allowed 3 Bariatric Advantage shakes a day for 2 weeks. Good luck with your surgery! -
Thanks for the welcome! Kim...that is so great to hear someone else going to Dr. Roye! I'm going to have a ton of questions for you! I did have my appointment today, it went well. They are suposed to be contacting Blue Cross tomorow, and she said we will hopefully hear back in a few days to a week. She said she's pretty sure I'll be covered just fine, since I have some issues due to my weight. I definatly don't like driving to RIH though, I got lost, went into the wrong parking garage, and drove around for 10 minutes waiting to find a spot! Auuh I hate driving in Providence! I did get the small ammount of info that she gave me today, which most of it I already knew. I did have one question, what the heck is the phsych evaluation for? What do they do? And also, what is the pre-op diet like for him? Thanks!!

I would give up the pain meds before I ate three days after surgery. -
Fmla For Hubby To Take Care Of Me 1st Week Post Op? Will A Doc Sign?
fluffylibra30 replied to LoserMama's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
as long as the paper work is done correct and filed in the time it is supposed to be done in there should be no problem. My husband is worried about me being home alone for some strange reason so he is going to take a week off after the surgery. A lot of times jobs just make you jump through hoops and tons of red tape before getting anything done. -
First: do what your Dr. tells you to do. I was only on liquids for 48 hrs. too. I was only on soft foods for the next 5 or 6 days after that. I must have called my nutritionist 6 times in the first 3 weeks! You'll be fine. Stop eating if it hurts. Concentrate on how you feel!

I agree. It sounds like you've got adware or spyware. There are some good free programs out there that can take care of that for you - though heck if any of the names come to mind right now. What browser are you using? I used to use IE and was constantly getting adware, spyware, trojans, and pop-ups. I switched to mozilla firefox about 6 weeks ago and it is much better than IE and Netscape in that respect. And it's free.

flying after surgery??
snowbird replied to annecolorgreen's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Most of the patients who go to Mexico fly home after a day or so, with little problem. However, your energy level will be a bit low for a couple weeks. If you are talking about a "lie around the pool and relax" vacation you would be fine, and some gentle strolling is good for you. Strenuous hiking wouldn't be. -
What kind of blended foods do you think you should've eaten? Do you think you should've started blended foods earlier than 2 weeks post-op? AngieO

:help: Hi! everyone. After doing alot of research, I have finally made up my mind to go ahead and do this. I went for my consult last wed, didn't get to talk to the actual doc. just to his staff and this week I'm in the process of getting my tests completed. But I just wanted to know if someone could give me the real insights on this. I love to drink on the weekend and have a couple of smokes, is that okay. I know not right away, but eventually ?? I love me some miller lite, will I have to switch to wine ?? Can you still have some of the mexican foods, salsa, chips, corn tortillas, fajitas, rice, beans ?? Are the gas pains tolerable after surgery ?? Can you take something before you have surgery , so you don't have as much gas afterwards?? I know everyone's body is different and different things respond to it differently. HELP !!! :Banane40: By the way happy valentines to everyone !! :kiss2: :kiss2:

Heyas Pam - Its not uncommon to feel hungry in the first six weeks, prior to your first fill. You wont have much restriction other than the swelling, which goes down in a few weeks. It might even take a few fills to find just the right restriction for you but when you do find it you shouldnt be hungry between meals, which will be about every four hours. I hope that helps. Good luck with your surgery. Let us know when you get home and how it all went!

Hi I am just wanting to get people's opinions on this. I had my surgery one week ago today and it has all been going pretty well. I am concerned though cause alot of what they told me really hasn't been accurate for me. I take several medicaitons for blood pressure, acid reflux, etc. and I have no problems taking one pill after another and they said that we would have to spread them out throughout the day. I don't really seem to feel full and it doesn't bother me to sip water during my meals. I have a few friends that had the surgery the same day as mine and they struggle with a lot of these things. Why so different? I am afraid that maybe something is wrong with mine?:w00t:

I had that ball feeling in the early weeks but it went away. I'd call eating 1/2 a sandwich at lunch, then 1/2 at dinner and taking 30 minutes each time restricted - well and truly.
-
I had a hernia repair with mine, too......lifting restrictions were lengthened a little.....obviously, I don't know if it caused more pain or not.....but I'm okay now, two weeks out.
-
I didn't realize you can get a leak after two weeks of surgery. I read some horror stories in here now I can't eat and I don't want to drink I'm non-stop checking my temp. I don't know what to do I'm only two weeks post- op when can I start feeling secure?

Silly Question - Comfort Eaters
FatButNotHappy replied to FatButNotHappy's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Thanks for your input....it has made a lot of sense. I did south beach and LOVED it. I never felt better. I never felt hungry. I never craved any junk and really I didnt cheat (they say that once you do---it is hard to stop wanting it.) Well, on Labor Day I had a brownie. The next day ice cream...then a candy bar....then, forty pounds back to my butt! I could never start it up again....I couldnt get passed the two week detox. I was like an addict, for real. I never felt DEPRIVED while I was on SB--but, as soon as I slipped up, it was all over. I kept half of it off for a while, but I have officially gained it ALL back now--plus 10 pounds. It has been three years. Fifty pounds in three years? That is nuts. Oh, and while I was losing weight, I LOVED going to the gym...I became addicted to that instead of eating, I guess. Although, it could have been because I tanned while I was there and I was really addicted to the tan????? -
I have the same problem with fluid coming out of my nose and mouth at night. It's weird cause I will be in a deep sleep and I will wake up choking on all this fluid coming out. It happens probably 2 to 3 times a week . I don't know what causes it and why. But I choke and cough every time it happens. Not alot of fun, is it.

should i be worried or will it get better ??
bandfun4me replied to harvey008's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I agree with Cathy, Call the Dr as soon as they open. Have you tried warm liquids? I have had 9 fills and 1 unfil, have 8.6 in my band. The unfill took .4 cc out and relieved all the sliming and Pb'ing. Warm liquids worked better during the 3 weeks that my band seem to tighten everyday. But, on the other side, It will keep you honest, and will also loosen as your stomach wall thins out. I don't know how fast you have been losing wt. Most of my fills had restriction about 2-3 weeks before the band needed another adjustment. With only 4 fills and sitting at 7cc, that seems a little fast to me. It took me 15 months to get to 9cc. Good luck.. -

I was to be on clear and Protein shakes for 2 weeks, but my nut moved me to yogurt and cottage cheese day 10 and soft/mushie day 11. I plan to consult with her at six weeks, although next phase is 8 weeks Sent from my SM-N910T using the BariatricPal App
