NSV Today at the Dr.'s !
Bandista replied to B-52's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
This is a great NSV, B-52! I'm with you in the easy. My life is so much easier now. -
Oh my god does it feel good to be back in jeans! Haven't worn these in 4 years! I think they're an 18 or a 20- didn't care to look, just found them and remembered them to be comfy! I haven't been able to find jeans that fit - always too big somewhere or too low hanging of a crotch or something - back to men's jeans I guess! Always found them more comfy! All, Today is my one year anniversary of my surgery and I was wondering how everyone is doing on their Anniversary. I would love to hear from all of you as your DAY approaches. As of today, I have lost 115 since the begining of my journey. I can not tell you how much better I feel and all of the NSV I have had. I started out in a 26 jean or 3x and am now wearing 12p jeans and some med tops. I went from 3x scrubs to wear to work, to now buying mediums. More important, I feel so much better. I can breath, I am not short of breath anymore, I can walk from the parking lot to the store, or into work. I can reach things so much better, not knocking stuff over with my butt.... My chances of diabeties has lowered, my blood pressure has lowered. I can now sit on the floor if I want, I can cross my legs... My thighs dont rub as bad. I feel healthy... finally. I love, love ,love my band and want to hear your stories. Following those band rules. Lois

After 2 months and 7 days, I am only down 13 pounds. However, I went today and purchased the same pair of black pants that I love, but in a smaller size! How many pounds do people typically lose between one size and the next one down? Thanks!

I have one more NSV to report today.....I can no longer wear my wedding rings and my anniverary rings....TOO BIG!!! I am afraid they will fall off so into the drawer they will go until I am ready to have them re-sized. Hey, I just had a thought.....maybe this means I can go out and buy an "in between" wedding ring to wear while I am losing???!!!

LOL!! Well congrats!! That is a really great NSV

I use the Xbox Kinect to workout. It has a recognition feature that signs you in. Well the last few weeks it wasn't signing me in. Then it dawned in me...maybe it doesn't recognize me! I reprogrammed the ID and now it's working fine. The XBOX DIDN'T RECOGNIZE ME!! Lol

@@sleeveisa i know, i know!!! Sheila!!! THAT IS INCREDIBLE!!!!! You should be so proud of yourself!!!! Unfortunately I have no NSV's to report at this time as far as weight goes. But, I was recently accepted into a very prestigious Veterinary Technician program and start August 29th. I start my pre op diet tomorrow and I'm hoping that I will have some scale victories before my surgery on the 29th. I don't think I'll lose enough to have NSV's but we shall see! I'm so proud of you....keep up the great work!

The other night my boyfriend and I were cuddling on the couch and he had his head on my chest. Out of nowhere he said "you must be in a good shape." I said "HUH?" He repeated himself. I still didn't know what he meant but I never thought I'd hear those words in my life! He said "your heart rate is ___. That's really healthy." (I don't remember what it was exactly.) Yes, he's a nerd. But he's also a cardiology nurse. He knows I've lost weight but not about the VSG. I'm five months post-op and I've known him for less than 3. I keep saying I'm going to tell him but I always chicken out when I'm with him. I've lost 130 and still have probably 90 pounds to lose but after 28+ years of being obese I NEVER expected to hear myself described as "in good shape." However, I have noticed a decrease in my heart rate. I check it before, during and after a work out. I love the NSVs!!! There are so many you anticipate and look forward to and yet still so many you can't even imagine. I hope VSG has positively impacted your life as much as it has mine!

Lianna, I have no idea what I can tell you to help you to jump start your weightloss. I wish I could, really I do, but I'm trying to work it out myself. I know one thing though. I personally cannot stress enought the importance of tracking your NSVs, your non-scale victories. The scale really only gives one dimention of your journey. It's like trying to describe a beautiful sunset, but you only have one color in your paint box. Please, if you haven't started it now, start your NSV list. If you really are a Turtle, you will need that NSV list to keep you motivated. Mine is the only thing that reminds me where I'm going, but more importatly, where I've been.

Higher Bmi - Almost 4 Weeks Post Op - Still No Nsv's :(
Aussiegirl replied to HadToDoIt40's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I too was a high BMI when I started this journey last Sept, it took a good 50-60 pounds before anyone really noticeds any change, which was like 3 months. But now at 120 pounds lost everyone notices, it will happen I can barely go through a day without someone stopping me and telling me how awesome I look, (tho I still have another 45 pounds to go). Be patient it will happen. But also dont just look at your clothes or other people for NSV's/ Do you feel like you move a bit more freely, do your feet hurt less, can you breathe easier? -
I usually buy jeans or a shirt that are to small so I can work on eventually fitting into them. Well, today I bought a pair of capris in hopes that they will fit by summer. I bought a size 8. I got home and tried them on to see how small they were and they FIT comfortably too! I haven't been that size since middle school.....actually I think I skipped size 8 in my sleep in 7th grade lol. love my sleeve!

Today was able to wear the most adorable corduroy leggings that I haven't been able to wear for over a year!!! & I was able to walk around freely without being afraid of starting a fire between my thighs!!! ( corduroy friction on a big gal can be disastrous for those of u that don't know)

Does the Lapband Help Your Teeth?
54Shirley replied to bobrocky's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sounds good to me Bob! I'd take that any day. So Congrats ! On that NSV. -
Angel, That is absolutely a NSV!! I understand where you're coming from and you should be quite pleased! Think of it this way, all that food is not inside you, working against you, it's in the garbage working for you (in a wierd way but I think you know what I mean!) You're doing great, keep it up!! So many nsv's to come.......this trip can be fun!! And good for you for getting out there and playing football!

Oh yeah, and stay off the scale. Take note of your progress by how your clothes fit and other NSV's. I actually dropped a whole pant size during the month I was "stalled". I don't even own a scale, so The only reason I even knew I was stalled was because I went to the doctor 6 times between weeks 6 and 14 and they weighed me each time.

I'm 6 weeks post op and I'm down two jeans sizes! Today I put on a pair of jeans that were so tight 3 months ago that I could barely breathe with them on, and they were so loose all over that I could get them off easily without unbuttoning them! Tonight I had hubby take measurements since I hadn't done any for almost 6 months. From June until now I've lost 2" in each calf, 2" in my hips, and almost 7" in my waist! It's unbelievable. Here's a picture comparing July and now.
