  1. Congratulations! I love hearing about NSV's, they are so different for everyone and they are truly the reasons we made this change! Numbers only mean so much, it's important how wefeel!

10 1/2 month post op! All my nsvs

Good for you! I love the biscuit comment lol I'm almost 8 weeks out and these are my NSVs: knee and ankle pain is gone back doesn't hurt I sleep through the night without getting up to go to the bathroom two or three times jeans that I've had for a year, that used to fit like leggins, actually fit like jeans! I also can't wait to add new things to this list

    should I feel my port?

By the way the pull that you feel is the muscle you didn't use or knew we had and it will pull here and there so it is normal and I couldn't feel my port at the beginning either , tho it is buried way down as I am losing weight I feel it more and ore specially if I am full and believe me I know when I am full or the stop signals begin , you will get scared, worried , and then before you know it you will be having nsv's and working with the tool as we all have to learn as our journey's continue.

    Haven't lost weight!

Even though weight loss is a "simple" equation-expend more calories than you intake - it sure isn't an exact science! I tell ya - there must be a million other factors!!! I went in for my first fill today (I was sweating on the table and the doctor had to work the needle a little to find the right spot. Fortunately, I had novicane, but still, I was so nervous!). I thought FOR SURE I had lost 5 or 6 lbs. over the past 3 weeks of calorie counting, workouts burning 500-680 calories, etc. TWO POUNDS. That was all I'd lost, 2 lbs! I remembered what I'd read on the site . . . "The first weeks are just healing, don't worry, you don't have any restriction anyway . . . " Still, it was a bit disappointing. But I can still be pleased with overall loss so far & with the NSVs! I appreciate your post today because I need to avoid having unrealistic expectations, or maybe any expectations about the number of pounds I "should" be losing. I need eat right everyday, and trust the results will follow, at their own pace and own timing! Patience is the hard part because I'm so anxious for the FAT TO MELT AWAY LIKE WAX OFF A CANDLE!
  6. Welcome!! TOM= time of the month NSV= Non scale victory mushies is more general/ broad it can be softer foods with more texture. Purees technically means there are no lumps.

    Male NSV here (possible TMI)

To quite a few men it's an NSV indeed! LOL

    First NSV

NSVs are my FAVORITE! I have shared them on my Facebook page and I can't tell you how many people have said it was refreshing to hear another plus size person talk about our struggles and victories! It is great to get support from them and inspire them to keep going as well. Here is my top 10 list! 1. I can cross my legs! 2. I have extra room in an airplane seat belt. 3. I'm down 4 pants sizes. 4. I can now shop in non-plus size stores. 5. I can sit cross-legged on the floor. 6. I can survive a Zumba class without dying! lol 7. I'm off all my blood pressure meds! 8. My wedding rings fit once again. 9. My husband has joined me in eating healthy and has lost over 60 lbs! 10. I can comfortably sit in a restaurant booth and don't have to worry about fitting in certain chairs. I can't wait to hear about yours when you get there!
  9. I have not lost any weight for over a year, my body settling out where it should be, and wants to be, weight wise.....YET within that year I have dropped 2 more clothing sizes!!! My last visit to my surgeon, after I got on the scale, he was looking at my chart ans was "puzzled" He asked a few routine questions, and when we got onto my exercising routine, he then brightened up and said "That Explains Everything" People say all the time how they loose weight with little or no exercise, but believe me....you have no idea what a additional change it will make!
  10. Looking back over the past 17 months - remembering this journey of mine, from the time I attended the siminar in April of 2010 - I'd say THE most exciting NSV I've had was seeing my collar bone!!!!!!! Wow, it was so cool, and I still like seeing it in pictures! Hip bones were neat too, but realizing I have a real collar bone has been by far, the best NSV. Second place is the day I bought a pair of jeans at the GAP - size 4!!! I have 4's, 6's and a size 8!! I can wear the 6 when I'm having a "fat" day - but the size 8, I haven't worn them since January! I'm curious as to what the most exciting NSV has been for the rest of y'all....c'mon, share!!

    My first NSV

I'm only about 8 days post surgery, but I had my first (of many hopefully!) NSV last night. I painted my toenails comfortably! Small victory, but it felt like a big deal!

    I just realized......

    Yay for NSV's!! That's progress ; )
  13. I'm in New a york City visiting my son for Christmas. I made the mistake of not trying on clothes before I left. The pants I brought are all falling off me! Who hoo!

    Weight Loss Rewards

It's hard to choose rewards because they so often require spending money, which is tight in our household. So far I've only set two: 241, which was the weight I was when I started my most successful diet in my life (Atkins). I was 23. For that, I will reward myself with a new haircut (which I desperately need). Next one after that is 212, which was what I got to when I got bored with Atkins and quit. That was what I weighed when I met my partner 10+ years ago. Not sure what I'll do then to Celebrate. Of course, there's always "onderland"... I think it's probably important to celebrate goals and NSVs, but I'm still trying to figure out how to do that without it involving food or too much money. I'm curious to hear what others say!
  15. Someone came up to me today looking very serious and said, "what are you doing?" I said, "what do you mean?" They repeated the question. Then they said, "you've lost so much weight! How did you do it?" My real NSV is that I've been at goal for so long now, I had no idea what he was talking about! I used to hear that several times a day, now people are used to the skinny new me. It felt pretty good!
  16. My bedroom has been commandeered. Getting out of the shower, I realized I forgot to grab a fresh pair of undies. Put on my 'skinny jeans' commando no camel toe! None. Zip. So I just went with it TMI- I know Still, a personal NSV
  17. I won tickets to the football game on Sunday...several NSVs. I could walk from the parking lot and up the stairs without getting out of breath, I stood in the food line mainly for a bottle of Water & not all the food I could eat. Best of all though (well, besides the shock that the Rams actually beat the Broncos - sorry Denver fans), I could sit in the seat & actually bop around. Yes, I showed off to my hubby - especially since a year ago we were at the stadium for another event & I pretty much had to sit on the edge of my seat because my hips/thighs were wedged against the arm rests.
  18. Here is my NSV. This upcoming weekend I'm helping my nieces move furniture into their 3rd floor apartment. Why is this an NSV? Never in a million years would I have been able to climb the darn stairs, much less cheerfully volunteer to carry furniture up three flights! I can't wait to be around these twenty-somethings and get some good exercise! *cue Urkel* "Did I say that!?!"
  19. That post from @@tink401 reminded me of something that recently happened. I have a tee shirt that I saved for more years than I care to recall. It was given to me by my then boyfriend and future husband. I was 16 at the time I first wore it, and pretty petite at that age. I came across the shirt cleaning out my dresser drawers in preparation for new bedroom furniture and thought I'd give it a shot. Don't you know that shirt slipped on like it did 40 years ago? How's that for a mind blowing NSV?
  20. sometimes i have one daily and sometimes i have them and dont realize it... i still consider me just walking a NSV that i am forever to my WLS of choice for.. oh, and putting my own socks on w/o asking my ole man to do it for me♥
  21. I was shopping at Target this weekend. My wife suggested we browse the men's clothing section. I caught a glance of myself in a mirror and my 40in waist pants looked baggy in the seat. I mentioned this to my wife and she said "I know. That's why we are here". I bought a few pairs of 38in pants. I started my weight loss in tight 46in pants.

    Non-scale Victories!

Laura - that's wonderful! Gosh - I don't think I've EVER been a size 10! I shared this NSV in another thread with my February 2008 friends, but it was so encouraging, I'm gonna share it here. Last November, I had to fly to Dallas, and on the plane, the belt was so tight, my tummy hung over the top and I had to cover it with my magazie so the flight attendent wouldn't make me wear a belt extender in front of my work friends! Yikes! I was so embarassed it was one of the reasons I decided to take the LB plunge. Anyway, I flew to DC last week, and the belt was actually loose - with about 4 inches of slack! And my butt didn't make the arm rest pop up in between me and my seat mate. I loved every minute of the flight.

    NSV For Me

I know this is probably no big deal, but I had to post it. Tonight, I set out to walk my nightly 3.5 miles, but instead I ran the last 1.2 miles!!! Well, I actually jogged and probably very slowly, but it was running to me!!! hehehe I haven't been able to jog for fear of hurting myself (lol) for a very long time now. I'm so thrilled because it wasn't even difficult!! Yeah!!! Thanks for listening, Tricia H

  25. So yay! After eight months, I think my sleeve is finally getting more tolerant of wider types of food!!! I used to eat eggs daily pre-sleeve. Since surgery, I have been unable to eat them without experiencing serious pain and the dreaded slimes--no matter how little egg I ate, it would give me the grumbles. I've been trying them off and on through the last months, and I noticed that it was not quite as rough, but I was still not interested in eating something that would cause me pain. Well, today at a restaurant, I ordered hambone gumbo (like ham Soup with collard greens in a rich broth--really tasty, I have to say). It came with a deviled egg in the middle of the bowl--you know, half a boiled egg with the yolk mashed and mixed with something creamy. I decided to give it another try--it was DELICIOUS and it was perfectly comfortable and I ate the whole half egg and some of the soup!!! I know it sounds sort of stupid to be so excited about an egg, but I feel so relieved that my sleeve allowed me to eat that--after months of not being able to eat them without repercussions! Can it be my sleeve is "maturing" FINALLY? Oh, it still restricted my volume, have no doubt of that--couldn't finish the soup!! But the food I did eat, egg and all, stayed comfortably in my tummy and felt GOOD. YAY!!
