  1. I have been on Lisinopril hctz 20/25 for around 8 years. I got up from my recliner and went around 10 steps, I saw black and passed out cold. My wife said I was out around 45 seconds to a minute. I got up, I luckily landed on my back, my head hurts pretty bad from smacking the laminate flooring. I will stay up for at least 5 hrs tonight to make sure I'm alright. Wife insist that I stay up. I checked my blood pressure after sitting in the kitchen island stool. Was 72 over 68. Never even been under 100 on the lower side. I haven't taken my blood pressure medication yet, so I removed all of them for every night in my pill organizer. So I'll call my primary care physician tomorrow morning and let him know what happened. Damn my head and right shoulder feels like they are going to bruise. Be careful getting up y'all. I looked online and it seems that it could take up to 3 days to get the blood pressure medication out of my system.

    Pilates

I started Pilates 6 months prior to my surgery (Sleeved August 2019) and it has really helped decrease my back pain and strengthen my core! I love it! It’s great that it’s low impact but still so tough and such a muscle builder. Indirectly I think it has helped me with weight loss since improving my core strength and decreasing my back pain allows me to work out harder without aggravating the pain. I run, hike, and cross country ski again, which I wasn’t able to do this time last year. I only do Pilates once a week right now, and my trainer recommends at least twice a week for better results, but there is only so much time (and money).........
  3. I was January 6th, and still only liquids until the 20th. I actually haven't been able to get much of anything protein wise down. I'm barely hitting 6-10 protein a day... I'm hoping once I start eating food, it'll be easier. I'm just tired of the shakes and my body is, too. (I already talked to my doctor- I'm still trying every day, I just can't keep it down... probably just too sweet, honestly, and I'm sick and tired of it lol)

    Food ideas?

I was sleeved 1/7/19 and I am SICK of broth. What did everyone eat at this point? Help!

    Cold 🥶 Feet 😬

The liquid diet two weeks before surgery was worse than the pain! To me, that was the “worse” part of the VGS surgery. My weight has been falling off since. I am 5 pant sizes down now. 375 before, 319 now. My surgery was 12/31/19.
  6. it's due to all the IV fluids. I've heard of people gaining up to 10 lbs from them. They should be mostly (if not all) gone by the end of the first week, so your weight will start heading down.
  7. My surgery date was Dec 19th, 2019. Things are moving in the right direction -

I didn’t end up throwing up thankfully. They gave me medication for the nausea that helped a lot. I don’t have a lot of pain. Just a bit of pressure. I would say pain is maybe a 3-10
  9. I'm so excited to find this thread! Started IF 1st January 2019... Doing 18/6 and 1200 calorie restriction preferably high protein low ish carb for endomorph macros. Feeling great. Pouch resetting Weight starting to come off! Just got to stay away from the 🌲🌲🌲 during or near my fasting times or it all goes to 'pot' 😆 Tho has anyone else experienced stomach pains doing this?
  10. This was cool for me. This surgery for me, wasnt just about losing the weight, but also about getting the body i always wanted. Im far from being there but im really starting to see results. I finally have shoulders and arms! I started crossfit 10 days after surgery. Mixed with running this is what ive stuck to and the results are really starting to show. Im 222 now but im also building muscle and still cutting the weight. I always do monthly progress pics and i decided to flex a little. I was shocked myself. I even had the two top abs. I couldnt believe it. I always wanted definition and its really starting to show, Im glad i could do this, while still cutting the weight. Cant wait to see what i look like at 199.
  11. I was sleeved 2/20/2019. Nearing the one year mark! Obviously the weight loss has slowed down but I'm curious if anyone is still losing this far out? I started at 273 on the day of surgery and have gotten down to 181 but have been here for a couple months.

    OOTD

This was my fave part about my reduction 10 years ago. Instead of my droopy water balloons, I got perky (albeit much smaller) girls who defied gravity. Now with >115 pounds gone since that time, they’ve all but disappeared, but at least I don’t have all of the loose skin

  14. Here are some things that happened and no one told me about: I lost my boobs - like LOST them. They are down there somewhere. 42DD to 34A. I have to special order bras. My bottom is so bony that it hurts to sit on hard chairs. I had so much energy during the active weight loss and ketosis that I couldn't sleep. I was the energizer bunny on steroids. I lost my food shelf - you know, that convenient bulge where you can put your plate when you sit in the recliner. I had to buy a whole new wardrobe. Size 24 pants to 10. I was actually comfortable this past summer in the heat.... but I am freezing all the time now. I have saggy skin, but I lost my triple chin, my thighs don't rub, and no more fungal infections from folds and heat. My little grandson squeezes my upper arms and says, "Squishy." I can't swim very well anymore. I just sink. I lost all my buoyancy. I had to get a new wedding band. I found new bones I didn't ever remember having - collar bones, ribs, hips. But on the flip side, I don't have GERD, sleep apnea, or high blood pressure anymore. My HDL, triglyceride, and A1c numbers are awesome. I can sit in any chair in the room, my seat belt doesn't rub on my neck, I can walk, hike, and ride my bike for hours without stopping, my resting pulse rate is in the 40's, I can get down on the floor and get up by myself, my bath towel goes all the way around me plus extra left over, I am one of the smallest people in a room instead of the largest, my necklaces hang down onto my chest, I can buy clothes in any store and in regular departments, and people call me "skinny." Unbelievable!

Hi everyone, just wanted to Pop in and give an update. I was sleeved yesterday around noon EST so still under 24 hours post op. Everything went wonderfully, I was on clear liquids just a few hours after, tolerating well. Pain is honestly petty minimal for me, I’d have to say a 4 on a scale of 10 is the worst I’ve felt. I had my last pain meds at midnight and since my pain is even more minimal now (1-2) . I have a lot of pressure in my abdomen but In weird spots. Lower right and at my sternum. Incision areas aren’t painful. Been walking walking to move the gas through ( quite successfully) haha! Best wishes to those still go on their surgery’s and a quick and speedy recovery to those who are on the other side! 🙂
  16. I feel amazing. Sleeved on the 8th October, have lost 26kg since then. My life is no longer ruled by food. The only stress is how to get enough food and protein in with my tiny tummy. I'm exercising again, my old clothes fit (some are too big!) and I just feel incredible. No more snoring or sore joints. I've lost more than my 8 year old weighs. That blows my mind when I think about it. And so does the fact that I'm only 10-15kg from my goal weight.

    January 2020 Surgery Date

Hi guys!!! I’m a little over 24 hours post op. This is my first surgery ever in my life. I went in really nervous woke up so fright and out of it that I regretted it because I couldn’t hold my crying baby. The pain was not in my incisions it was all over my body like I had gotten beat up. Drinking the 4 oz of water with one oz being protein. My hospital uses ensure protien max. They do NOT recommend the regular ensure. Only the low fat and carb protein max. I have to say it was rather tasty. And I don’t like protein drinks at all. The nausea patch behind your ear creates extreme dry mouth. I brushed my teeth often and it helped but didn’t go away. It’s starting to subside now. I had my surgery 01/14 at 6pm and was released home 01/15 at 3pm. So less than 24 hours. And I love being home!!!!! If anyone has any questions I would love to answer them?

Lap Band Removal and Revision Suggestions Needed

So I had a consult with the surgeon that did my upper GI. He is recommending I revise to the Sleeve. His estimate is I will lose the same amount of weight with the Sleeve or with Bypass, but Bypass has greater risk of complication. I have a couple friends who have the sleeve and didn't loose the weight they wanted to, hit a plateau and have gained back some weight. I'm worried about that. A complication of my band has been GERD, so I am also worried about that continuing if I have the sleeve. The surgeon really seemed to be pushing the sleeve, same with his office staff. But it was the same 10 years ago when I had the lap band, and now that has fallen out of favor...will the same happen with the sleeve? Should I just go with my gut and do the bypass???
  20. Hey, so ive noticed there was 2 things I've eaten that caused really bad pain in the center of my stomach (area between ribs).. I'm thinking it's just something my stomach didn't agree with at all and maybe just created trapped gas?? I'm not sure but it does hurt and it takes about an hour or so for it to stop hurting. It's only happened 2 times since surgery (11/15/19)... Has anyone else had this happened ?? Sent from my moto g(7) supra using BariatricPal mobile app
  21. A good pasta alternative is made by great low carb bread company. They make elbow macaroni, spaghetti, rotini, fettuccini, penne, orzo rice pasta, for example 2 ounces of spaghetti is 110 calories, 19 Grams carbs, 12 grams fiber, 18 grams protein. It’s made with pea protein isolate. Oat fiber. Wheat fiber. Egg whites. Wheat gluten. Semolina. they make bread, bagels, pizza crust also. there are always healthy alternatives and it depends what your new pouch can handle. As well as what foods will keep you from falling back into old bad habits. https://greatlowcarb.com I used to buy from www.Netrition.com since I’d buy a lot of low carb products. Probably anything in the bread or pasta, even low carb is better for maintenance. Although I do on occasion have a protein pasta from BariatricPal. Like a creamy chicken pasta soup type thing. But it’s portion controlled. And has protein. i do finally use those little dishes that came in our dish set and have little bowls I use as well.

  23. I too wanted the bypass to lose the maximum amount of weight and my doctor felt I could achieve the same results with the sleeve even though I suffered from GERD. I trust my doctor and I'm very happy with my surgery. I have not had any issues with GERD since my surgery. 5'4" Starting weight 297 VSG on 7/31/19 Surgery wt: 266 CW 206 GW 135 Sent from my [samsung Galaxy] using BariatricPal mobile app
  24. I had GERD, Barrett's esophagitis from the acid, and even a Barrett's polyp that was removed. It was a slam dunk for gastric bypass if I wanted to avoid the acid and possible progression to cancer, I am happy to report that 10 months after surgery, a follow up EGD showed NO Barretts! I have an ulcer but no Barrett's.
  25. Hi Everyone, Great to hear that I'm not alone! I was sleeved on 12/30/19. I have been down almost 25 pounds since last Thursday. I started puree stage then and since, then the scale has gone up a little then down. I know that my body is trying to adjust I'm sure. I am eating puree 3x a day, about 2 oz of cottage cheese with a little bit of peach puree, scrambled egg, chicken, a little spinach puree, and light soup. I am really struggling to getting more than 48 oz of water. Very tired of protein shakes, ugh and a wee bit of nausea now and again. Been walking around the block, doing light arm and leg exercises. My next Dr appt is in 3 months! He told me to start on regular food at week 4, no more puree. I eat slow and sometimes can feel it, other times I don't feel restriction at all, depending on the food. I'm so worried about stretching out my pouch! I am averaging about 500-600 calories per day.
