    Need your advice

You're sleeve is a tool. It is still there. I talked to my nutritionist a few years ago about this subject. She said individuals that experience this can reverse the trend. But she said the weight loss doesn't happen overnight. Essentially the amount of time that you were binging is approximately equal to the amount of time to shed the weight again. So if you are bingeing for the last 6 months, it might take you 6 months to lose that 40 pounds regain. So be patient and persistent.
  2. I put my starting weight to the date of when I decided to schedule surgery. I did mine out of country so for folks using insurance your first appointment with your doctor.

    So diet or stop?

Help me understand....If I have been on a diet and am down to 34 BMI (and stuck) ,but I have dibetes and I could get approved at 35 BMI. I should gain the weight back to get approved? AND If I go to the center at 35 BMI will they make me diet? Say they do and I lose weight. Then I cant get it done? Im so confused, because if that was the case who would really try to lose weight during that time? Does anyone understand what Im trying to say?
  4. I probably would give my long time friend the benefit of the doubt and not jump straight to the j word. I have had friends and family members lose weight through various methods and that's all they talked about; what they could and couldn't eat and on and on. I never felt left out or as if I should be on their journey ' doing what I'm supposed to be' but I did think to myself sometimes "Are we ever going to be done talking about you?" You said this lady was your best friend and that she'd had a pretty significant regain. She could be embarrassed or angry with herself which has nothing to do with you. Or she could be having a hard time around something completely separate, unrelated to WLS and you're just projecting. Or maybe she is just jealous that you get to have the surgery and she wasted her chance. That last one sounded a little witchy, right? Right. You never know what someone else is going through on the inside but jumping to the conclusion that it's about you isn't very friendly; it's kinda selfish actually. It doesn't sound like she's able to be supportive about your surgery right now and in friendships that does happen sometimes. My BFF lost her father this year after a long illness and is not the same person she was before. She's grief stricken and she's busy being there for her mother, her siblings and her children; not a whole lot leftover. Under different circumstances, she'd be right by my side. But this time around, we're both going through a major life change at the same time. And it's okay with me for my bf to be consumed by something else while I'm focused on something else entirely different. It's like that sometimes; we're not always on the same page. I hope you find someone close to you that can be the support you need and that you're able to talk to your friend about your concerns.
  5. I agree with her. I have seen a lot of postings about bypass patients gaining weight back and stretching their new stomachs. I like the fact that I control the fill levels so that will not happen. I love my band and I wouldn't have it any other way. With that being said, you have to realize that the weight loss is slower with the band. I have the feeling that it can be kept off for a longer period of time though.
  6. One of the reasons I chose the band was because of the long-term prospects. At 5 years out, the weight loss between the band and bypass is the same, from what I could find. And with the bypass, you don't have any way to adjust it later if need be. Pouches stretch out, and the body adapts to the malabsorption. With the band, it can be adjusted however your body needs it to be as you go along. That was very appealing to me.
  7. I'm a little confused, Some or most ins co require that you see a nutritionist for 6 months prior to approval . Are you supposed to lose weight in that timeframe or is it to show you can't lose weight and would benefit from the sleeve?? If you do lose weight do they not approve you ??? 8. Hello All! I am 3 years Post op as of last week, I lost about 75 lbs, got down to 148 lbs at my lowest and I am now 8 months pregnant. I am only 12 Lbs away from where I started on surgery day- I am depressed every time I look at the scale, not to mention my doctor gives me a hard time about my weight at each visit. I know I have gained more than I should have but I feel so out of control with my hunger- I honestly feel no restriction, I can eat 2X as much as before I was pregnant and I am so scared that after I deliver I will be right back where I started. Does anyone have any tips for after I give birth on how to get back on track? Will my restriction ever return?

    Hait loss

My doc said the same also. It's from the stress of losing the weight so fast. Nothing is going to stop it but biotin or other things might help it grow back quicker

  11. Hi, seems like we are in same boat. actually mine could be more sinking:( I have lost 38kg after my surgery 2012, however I have but back 25kg. as today, I have started to do pouch reset and aiming to loose weight again.
  12. Welcome back. I've had ups and downs. I also had a baby post sleeve. I have always felt liquid diets aren't the way to go - at least not all liquids. Not at our point. I'm 7 years out now. I did do a green smoothie thing a few years back, post baby, to jump start my loss for ten days. Two smoothies during the day, protein snacks like cheese, raw nuts, hardboiled eggs and a lean protein and veg dinner. By the time ten days were up I was ready to stick to protein first and I lost that weight easily. As easily as I can. I am a notoriously slow loser. It took 14 months to shed 27 pounds. I'm also quite tiny, though - 5'1" and 118 now. So don't be discouraged. Just do it. And sensibly. It's going to be slow, and frustrating, yeah. But you want this. It's worth it. You sliced out 85% of your stomach for it. Your sleeve will work for you if you drop you calories and carbs and up that protein. Best, and I'm cheering for you. Cheri

    25 days post sleeve.

You have to get in your Protein or you will stop losing weight. I am almost a month out and at week 2 I wasn't eating much and didn't lose weight for about a week. Sent from my SM-G930T using the BariatricPal App

Looking for information and community after your Realize Band Surgery? Look no further. You'll find everything you need at RealizeBandSupport.com . I started LapBandTalk the night I came home from surgery mid July 2003. Following my own Lap-Band® procedure, I was looking for information and community support. I came across a few helpful web sites, but they all lacked a sense of actually belonging to a group of people who share many similarities, struggles and habits. After years of researching and reaching out to the community, we've been able to build the most comprehensive online resources for all types of Weight Loss Surgeries. Hundreds of thousands of registered members contribute amazing stories and useful information to our pages.
  15. Gallbladder issues are very common after weight loss. I had mine removed this past April. Honestly, it's no big deal at all. It's done laproscopically with minimal pain and a quick recovery time.

    Discouraged and scared

Don't freak out  your body is going through so many changes right now it will change day to day until you get a good groove going. As Amanda says, listen to your doctor and stick with the program he lined up for you. Water weight counts for alot too, weather, high and low pressure systems etc can make you fluxuate a pound or two. Keep on track it sounds like you are doing great....20lbs WOW that is a great start to the new skinnier you!

    Discouraged and scared

Thank you Amanda. I needed to hear that. It took a long time to put the weight on, so you are right, it will take a while to take it off. Thanks for your comment. It helped a lot. Deb

    Pre workout post surgery?

Wall pushups, walking, walking, walking. Light weights (like 2-3 pounds) for upper body routine. It's about reps, not how heavy the weights are. Might be too early for a leg routine, as abs come into play with squats and lunges. There are a lot of good arm and leg routines online. Start with a few and gradually add others.

    Long Time No Post

I don't have any weight loss advice, as I am only 3 months out. Just wanted to say, sorry for the tragic loss of your sister and best wishes for your future.
  20. Hello! It’s been a bit since I’ve been on here. I had the sleeve on June 27, 2016. I lost 100 pounds, had a baby, gained about 40. I’m starting weight watchers now and hopefully going to get pregnant again. Anyone in a similar situation??
  21. I'm super new to this! I am 22 years old & my starting weight was 287. I lost 20lbs pre-op. My surgery date is June 1st! The only thing I have left to Do is a UA, Gall bladder u/s, and ultrasound. I am a frequent marijuana user so I'm nervous on what the UA is for? Or is the UA not for drug testing? :/
  22. Hello I’m a new to this site and have just a few questions about the process. I already had my seminar 01-22-19 and my 1st official weigh in appointment is 2-12-19. I’ve been told by my insurance advocate that will be time where I can’t gain weight. My insurance is Aetna and they require 3 month diet plan with psych evaluation and a dietician visit. So I guess my question is what has been your experience with Aetna ? What should I lookout for that my hold up my approval. Thanks

    Just get started

I started the process the beginning of October. I had the 4th nutrition visit in January (first one was in Oct, then every 28-30 days another so the 4th appointment for weigh in was on day #91 in january). Then I saw the surgeon a week later. They submitted the paperwork and Aetna mailed me the approval letter 10 business days later. From what I understand your weight can go up and down a little due to different clothing etc. (preferable down) during the 90 day nutrition visits but they want that final 90 day weight in to be lower than the first visit. During that 90 day period I did the other tests, blood work etc. For me my surgery is scheduled about 4.5 months after that very first appointment.
  24. I have had a couple of stalls but I ignore them and stay with the plan. I do not have any regrets. Today three different people asked me if I was losing weight and then they said I was looking very good. Made my day!!!!
