Surprised your Dr allowed the potatoes...total carb and no redeeming qualities... but anyway... hopefully you are weighing yourself only once a week, the first weeks after surgery it comes off slower, I think because of the stuff in your system, you should see a drop SOON good luck

Stall? Same weight down to the oz.
wantingabetterlife replied to gettinghealthymom1's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Welcome to the wonderful world of stalls. Like @@Tammylb said, they happen....regularly. Even when going through one, your body can change. I got stuck for almost three weeks at the same weight. During that time, my body shifted and I lost quite a few inches. Then one day, the scale started to move again and pounds started coming off. Just stick to your program and drink lots of water! Some people even suggest upping your calories so your body doesn't think it's starving. Good luck and best wishes!!! -
Stall? Same weight down to the oz.
gettinghealthymom1 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm at 3 1/2 weeks and I've weighed the same weight for over a week and I'm the same exact weight every day down to the ounce! Is this common? So weird and I'm so ready for this weight to come off! Atleast something move and I find it so odd that it's down to the ounce that is not moving! Anyone have similar situations? -
Day 4 of preop diet..major headache
cindyw41 replied to bncbabe2015's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Mine was very similar to this. What protein shakes are you drinking? I was very tired for a few days but it does get better (I'm 1 week post op) You can add Crystal light to your drinks (I know it doesn't make that much of a difference) but I had the strawberry sorbet protein, I added lemonade Crystal light. It was pretty good. It gives you Some kind of variety. Good luck -

SeattleSue replied to kdavis's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Just started my 3rd week...I'm doing great also. Yes and no on the hunger...I get that empty feeling and sometimes a little hunger "naw". Don't know how to describe it, but I know I need to eat. I'd love to hear some of your fav puree recipes. Just the thought of it cuts my appetite. lol Nice to hear from you. Keep up the good work! What Op Do I Need To Reduce My Knees?
danielle b replied to sakurah's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
I would start out with inner thigh lift....I am 4 weeks post op from inner thigh lift and have amazing results...although my knees are still a bit large....usually inner thigh lift is done first and then if you still need work done, it would be thigh lift from knee to groin incision.... -
I made most appts all in the same week or so. That way I could relax.

mimistar, I could have written almost that exact same post...I had my VSG May 6...I am just getting over about a 2 week stall, so hang in there..I have been focusing on getting my protein and have done a fairly good job...the liquids is a different story--most days I get in about half of what my nutritionist recommends...I am trying, though--it's a tough job time-wise to get in the liquids in between the mini-meals during the day...also, I still cannot drink much liquid at a given time...and like you I am tired all the time...some evenings I am too tired to even get my walk in...I look forward to advice here as well

I also love my band. It has been very good to me. I have not once gotten stuck, slimed, PB'ed, etc. I had my third fill last week and had a couple of tight days with the swelling, then got right back on course. I can eat a small meal and I'm fine in between. It is amazing to me how different my concept of portions and a "meal" are now. I hit 81 lbs lost over the weekend. :cool2: I am definitely at my sweet spot after last week's fill so I hope I'll keep losing at this pace. I am hoping to hit -100 around my 6 month bandiversary.

My 6 mth is August 28th, which is 6 weeks from tomorrow (Thursday). I have 19 lbs to go. It seems like a stretch, but I tend to average around 15 lbs per month so I think I can do it. Ezma, I think you can totally lose 10 lbs in a month! You're doing awesome!

I am allowed to eat mushies currently, but just can't seem to want to put my food in a blender and then eat it. Something about that reminds me of my daughter's baby food so that is definitely not happening. I can't wait for another two weeks so I can have mushies...YAY!!

So, I was sleeved on 3/25. I have no problems eating what I should be eating or getting the amount of protein I should be getting, but this past 4-5 days the scale has not moved. I was wondering if that was normal or if anyone else has experienced this. I am starting to wonder if this surgery was the right decision for me or if my body is just saying what the heck did you do to me? I have lost 15 lbs since surgery, but nothing in the past 4-5 days. Just curious. Thanks!

I'm still in my first week post-op and have found this is the most unpleasant aspect of the surgery thus far. I'm fortunate that I don't have to take many meds, just 4. They are all tablets. I simply chew them up and swallow down with some Water. The taste is horrible, but some sips of water and then brushing my teeth right after knocks out the bad taste. Is it fun ? Heck no ! Is it a big deal ? Nope, not if I don't dwell on it and delay. Just chomp 'em up and wash 'em down. A few seconds of yuck that is over with really soon. Again, I realize that I'm lucky by only having four pills and lucky they are tablets. Were they caplets, then I'd dismantle them and get the powder out. I'd actually considering going to a local compounding pharmacy and see if they could do liquid emulsions on my pills, however, the "chomp 'n swallow" method is working just fine. Vitamins and stall
SLEEVEDNBEAUTIFUL replied to SLEEVEDNBEAUTIFUL's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks icon. I love the info. Has some different information than my booklet has. I was wondering about this because I have seen other post that have stated make sure to take supplements and of coarse Water to help with stalls. GRATEFUL N THANKFUL -
You look great!! As a side note, i just had my hair done today. It's like yours but i have bangs. I'm at 11 weeks and my hair is falling out. She showed me that having a straight part will show more of the bald spots. Instead, Criss cross your hair over the part so it looks like a zig zag pattern, not a straight line. It really works!! And have long layers so the hair doesn't lay heavy on the scalp.

Does the protein help us lose weight?
onesleevedmamma replied to cuchas's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Protein can be critical. It prevents your body from loosing muscle and it looses fat instead. Also, anemia and other complications can occur from not getting enough protein. Like the above posts say, stalls are totally normal. Everyone is different. It was suggested to me that at day 6 or 7 of a stall (early on after surgery) starting to log what you are eating and see if there is a diet reason for the stall. Also, either way you can go back to liquids and walk a little more to kick the body back into gear -
a week later I find I am still hungry but it is much better than before. I don't feel constantly hungry:)

Gastric sleeve with hiatal hernia
mrsdoubtfire replied to NjGirlInNcWorld's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
To my surprise, my doctor said he repaired and moderate hiatal hernia while he did the sleeve. I was not told to vary the post op diet in any way because of this. So far, I've been great and have not had any issues. I'm 2 weeks post op and my surgeon is, in my opinion, very liberal on what I could eat post op. I hope this helps. Good luck! -
Bruise Doesn't Go Away
rhonda435 replied to caroli's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was banded on Nov 19th. All 4 of mine had bruises but 3 of the 4 have healed nicely. The last 1 looks more like a broken blood vessel so its kind purple. Could yours be a blood vessel and not a brusie. Is it sore to the touch? Mine isn't. Im not too worried since im only 2 weeks post op but sounds like it could be a broekn vessel.
