I have been on vacation in Hawaii this week, today is my last day on the island. I haven't weighed myself for a week. Last time I did I weighed 201lbs. Can't wait to see my current weight when I get home tomorrow. But my NSV is that I went PADDLE BOARDING!!! Something I would have never done!

It's been an awesome past two months. Major life changes that never would have happened 50 pounds ago. I had my surgery last August, and the weight loss has been SLOW. But I'm hanging in there and the rewards have started rolling in. I decided to try online dating in March, after I was able to get some pictures of myself that I felt ok with. Two weeks later, I met an awesome guy and we're so happy together. Right about the same time, some networking paid off and I landed a job interview. The company was pretty slow with the interview process, but last week I was offered the job! The company is really dynamic and high-energy, and I know I wouldn't have been an ideal candidate if I had been at the weight and energy level that I was before the surgery. I'm not saying they wouldn't have hired me, but I KNOW that the weight loss has helped, if nothing else its helped my self esteem and the way I project myself. So, while the scale is slow, and I'll probably never be one of those people who gets to a size 4, it has given me a new outlook on life, and it looks like 35 is finally MY YEAR!!

So I'm 3 weeks todays and feeling great. I've been a little tired but my energy is coming back. Over the weekend I had my first NSV...or shall I say I had two? I was going out with friends and went shopping for a new outfit....after being in a 22 for so long I can actually fit a 16. I have never worn a 16. When I was this size I was a teenager and I wore mens clothes anyway so I didn't know what a 16 looked like...and now I do!!! And my second NSV...I was the sober driver. I had an ok time...it wasn't really my scene but hanging out with friends and being able to relax and enjoy myself without being intoxicated felt great!!

Where Are My April 2012 Sleevers?
kiki19 replied to JimmyGotSLEEVED's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I had to quit weighing. Once I got off the liquids, which was mostly soup, saltines, broth, I started losing. I think all of the sodium, even though a lot of what I ate was low sodium, made me retain water. I did not lose any weight on my pre-op liquid diet...again, I think it was too high in sodium. Also, I noticed that I will weigh the same thing for four or five days, and then all of a sudden, I have afive or six pound drop. My friend said she would stay the same for a month, and then drop 10 - 12 pounds. She did that consistently for 6 months... So everybody loses a little differently. Again, don't forget the NSVs...they are very important. I celebrate something every single day. Like, for instance, I painted my toenails. I actually gave myself a pedicure. That has not happened in a couple of years. I could actually cut my toenails, push back the cuticle, and paint them....my bladder incontinence has completely disappeared. I have only lost 30 pounds, and already, there are a mutlitude of victories and things to be grateful for. I can only imagine what is in store for us!!!!! -
I've never been able to do ANYTHING for a full hour, non stop.. I mean.. NEVER... ANYTHING!!! UNTIL last night!!!! I was very tired, but feeling hopeful that I can up my cardio to an hour 4-5 times a week!!!!! And I HATE going to the gym.. But, with all of the encouragement that I get from several "Sisters in the fight against FAT", I think I'll be fine!!! Thanks for sharing my NSV w/ me!!! Keep up the great work guys!!!

Clothing Switch Over Provides A Whole New Nsv
kiki19 replied to janerose's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Don't you love it? I have been getting rid of stuff that I put on and it's too big...it's the greatest feeling in the world. I hope by four months that I can purge 95 percent of my clothing...I still have some cute smaller clothes that are still in style...hopefully, by winter, I will need all new clothes. Love the NSVs.... -

Clothing Switch Over Provides A Whole New Nsv
janerose posted a topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Just spent the weekend changing over the winter clothes to the summer clothes (a new england tradition) I knew there would be some clothes that would not longer fit; but did not realize that 95% of them no longer remotely fit my new sleeved body. Rather than keep the old clothes, just in case, I have chosen to remove it all so I can't go back. I have always been considered a nice dresser and people I work with have actually asked me for my "too big" clothes - so, I have divided them amongst the people who have supported me over the past few months, put some in consignment and gave some to the homeless shelter. The experience was cleansing and rewarding. My closest is clean for the first time in years. When I finally got my sandals ready for the summer - I realized they were all too big as well - I have never dropped a shoe size before. So off to the shoe store I go - this sleeve is costing me some money ! So many changes in four months - emotional roller coaster for sure. -
So, whenever I would get out of the shower, I would wrap the bath towel around me backwards, leave the back open because it didnt fit, of course....unless it was a beach towel. Well, yesterday I decided I would try to wrap and tuck the towel, see how far I was from being able to wear a bath towel out of the shower...IT WRAPPED, and IT TUCKED..and it was CLOSED!! NOT A BEACH TOWEL, A REAL BATH TOWEL! LOL! I felt normal for once! I am also excited to announce that I bought a few dresses from Old Navy and of course I go STRAIGHT to XL. Well, they are WAY too big! L is even a little too big. I bought 3 in L and 1 in Med, the Med FITS!! I would like to lose 10 more before I wear the med...just to feel a little more comfortable. I have had to purge my closet AGAIN, I am running out of clothes! But it is great going shopping! I almost got emotional in Old Navy. My head still hasnt wrapped around the weight loss. That is my only hold back. I don't always see the 70 lbs gone.

Hi MrsShep! How did swimming go? I think at 3 months out you're okay as far as healed incisions go. 46 lbs is awesome! Hi Amica- yay for the nsv's! And the great thing is this is for the long haul, so if you have a day or two that aren't as good, you can get back to working the band. I'll bet you can make your goal of 50 lbs by 5/25. Good elliptical workout yesterday, zumba for tonight at the Y. WID is tomorrow, it's not looking like it 'll be a huge loss, even though I'm doing the same stuff I've been doing, but any loss is a good loss- since it's not going up! My parents will be here for the kid's b-day and we almost always go to the Angus Barn (Prez Obama went there when he was just in NC- it's an AWESOME steakhouse!!)- but I can still make good choices. Everyone have a great day! PS- call out still! Mags, where are you? Horsegirl, any updates? Kymie? All y'all??

more in the fitness NSV category! I started crossfit last week and am learning how to "lift" - I dead lifted 100 pounds last week and am learning how to "clean jerk" this week, eventually my goal is to be able to do a real pull up - so far I am just hanging from the bar with my knees up but it's a start!

That's a great NSV. I look forward to the day when I can wear mine again, too. -
Welcome mrshep12! Hey peeps! Hope you had a great weekend! I was a BAAAAD girl and ate lots of things I shouldn't have, but I had my 4th follow-up and fill today and the doc was very happy with my progress and wants me to write a testimonial. I'm down 40.5 pounds since surgery and my fill today puts me up to 5 cc. My next checkup is in 2 months. My NSV for the weekend was that I was able to stand for 3+ hours for an event we were doing! Might not seem like a big deal, but with my arthritis and the extra weight I was usually in misery after 30 minutes on my feet. I was also able to walk from the far end of the parking lot yesterday which would have been impossible before. YAY! I'm back on the bandwagon for food and exercise this week! I'm still hoping to be down 50 pounds by 5/25!

Great NSV. I use 20 lb containers of cat litter two at a time. When I was carrying them in from the car one day, I thought "I have lost 2-1/2 times the weight of this litter." I don't even know how I used to walk. No wonder my knees and ankles are trashed. Keep up the good work!!! Kathe

Are You Buying Sexy Clothes Now?
his2my2our4 replied to Queen of Crop's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am too! :-) One of my favorite NSV's to date was my shopping splurge at Victoria's Secret! I never realized how ugly my old duds were until now! Back to matching bra and panty sets AND loving that when my husband folds the laundry, he has to ask if the panties are mine or my daughter's (she's 10!!)!! -
Are You Buying Sexy Clothes Now?
coops replied to Queen of Crop's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Erm, not for me... i really have to work on my self esteem and confidence in this department!! I am desperate for new underwear, saggy baggy knickers are really not attractive, but I am sorta confused on what to go for now!! I suppose I just have to pluck out the confidence to buy a few different ones to see what shape is best? I think it is the saggy tummy skin that stops me, it is just awful and I will do anything to conceal it!! On the clothes front, I am struggling to know what suits me now... is it too young? (I am ONLY 41...lol), too short, too long, too tight, too fitted... oh I could go on! Again I lack the confidence to go into the shops and try things on. I think I fear that it will either be too small or look awful! Like I say, I am working on this part of the new me! Good for you though... getting new clothes and undies is a great NSV, especially when they make you feel good! =] -
I had an awesome NSV today! My nephew's 22 year old daughter told me how great I was looking. She told me that she didn't recognize me at first and had to ask her dad who I was. So happy!

Star, That's a great NSV!! As a matter of fact, losing clothes sizes may be my favorite NSV.. .no, second favorite, but this is a family forum.
