  1. Good news and Meh news...

Meh: so I think I experienced/am experiencing my first stall-ish since surgery and now I get how frustrating it can be!  So annoying to wake up every morning to watch the scale report a gain or loss of the same 1.5 pounds for over 2 weeks.  *sigh*.  Some say put the scale away, but I log my weight every morning to get a daily moving average of my weight.  So long as this moving average is not heading upwards (which it isn’t and hasn’t since post-op) then I am good with my curent “minimalist” weekly weight loss rate, however small I think it is 🙄.

    However.

    The Good news:

To allow for some self back patting, and to remind myself of the bigger picture, I set a bunch of interim goals/milestones... a few of which are 10lbs increment weight loss goals:

So this morning, after hovering within 1.5 pounds of an interim goal for over 2 weeks, I weighed in at 164.8, and officially lost 70 lbs!  In 4 months.  That is 30% of my starting body weight.  Or the equivalent of my 10 year old neice. How crazy is that.

Next Goal: weigh in at 162lbs to be merely overweight (and not obese!)

  2. looking for a therapist this week as well as weighing in to start my 2nd supervised diet month.

2 weeks post op. 70 lbs down before surgery, down 10 more for this pic.
  15. I was on July 15th - so pretty close. It is slow and steady for me. I started at 263 and am at 229 as of this Saturday. Still not in the green zone so I still struggle with controlling my intake. However, I think I am consistently losing because I stay between 900-1200 cal a day and do zumba 2-3x a week. I am finally starting to see it in my clothes. Hopefully my next fill will get me out of bandster hell!! I think I am close because i do feel full when I remember to eat slow and focus on protein. Good Luck and let us know how your doing! PS. I must confess I had cheese pizza today.... extra zumba this week I guess...

    Is Something Wrong WIth me?

It definitely could be the fat content or eating too fast. During this time you're still healing so you have to remember to take it easy, eat slow. I would get sick as well. Eat jell-o, broths, clear stuff for now and then revisit the creamy stuff like yogurt and cream soups. Eat sugar free Popsicles those will help with dehydration. Some days it was all I could keep down. If it doesn't get better by next week, I would contact your doctor.
  17. So I have noticed that my clothes were getting loose and things seemed to be getting smaller on my body but that dang scale was not budging. I was discouraged big time. Then came my gallbladder surgery last week Friday and I had all the fluids and swelling so I have been in the dumps for a while. I was wondering what gives. Then this morning I step on the scale and IT MOVED DOWN!!!! 155! I'm so happy!!! I know it's just one pound but that how it starts and by the end of 7 days I know I will be down at least 5!!

    Help!

Before I say anything, yes I went to my surgeon first, no I haven't been to my PCP since I went NPO and they blew out both my arms trying to get a blood draw and told me I should've drank lots of fluids, 2 side effects, 1 minor, 1 beginning to have a negative effect on me, I live in South Texas BTW. #1 I have a sneezing side effect almost every time I eat, and no it's before I even feel full, my nose gets runny and I sneeze uncontrollably, surgeon and dietician are at a loss since they've only seen it when people were full. #2 this one hurts, before surgery had trouble keeping warm, thought it was my circulation and obesity, was at 388lbs in January, now at 269lbs 10 months later, surgery was on June 10th I weighed 342.2lbs, now it's worse than ever, last night was our first major cold front here, 34 degrees( yes I know northerners lol) My last blood work showed everything good except vitamin D, took care of that blood pressure and circulation great, taking all my proteins and vitamins, and my nurse at work suggested B12 which I started taking 1 week ago, any suggestions or resources would help, don't mind the sneezing thingy and it's kind of funny but this regulating body temp has me hurting, I only slept 3 hours last night, and yes we had our central heat on, and I had a cover, but it's all day even at work, and I work out at the gym 3x a week and I'm more mobile than ever, help please.......

    blood clotting/vein thrombosis

It is ALWAYS better to be safe than sorry when it comes to blood clots. I found this out the hard way about 6 weeks ago and almost lost my life because of it. Please, if you even think there's a remote chance, go to the ER. They have to treat you. You need a doppler of your legs to make sure there's no clots. Btw- contrary to popular belief, you can have clots in both legs at the same time. I wrote a blog entry about my clot experience, you can find it here: http://www.lapbandtalk.com/blog/6349/entry-26062-a-warning-about-blood-clots-grahic-pic-beware/ Please, don't wait. Get checked out ASAP.
  20. I'm 2 1/2 weeks post op and am curious if I can have diet green tea. I bought a 20 oz bottle thinking its not carbonated but the bubbles at the top made me a little nervous. Thoughts anyone?

I had a glass of wine at 6 weeks (only after I was cleared by surgeon and NUT) I was just fine. Would highly recommend you try it at home first, as you could react differently.

    Help!

I don't under stand I had surgery 12/4 and lost 23lb but haven't lost any in two weeks even gain 2lb what Mi doing WRONG?
  24. Had my surgery back in September and all is well (39 pounds lost). But I have the liquid diet stuff taking up room in my cupboards- would like to sell Vanilla Creme Bariatrix essentials by metagenics - bariatric meal, vanilla advanced protein powder and endura energy and rehydration formula. Each container 1/3 to 1/2 full. Should get you through the liquid phase no problem. $40 for all. Send a message if you are interested. I'm in downtown Toronto, very close to the TLBC centre.
  25. And I am so thankful! I have lost 75 lbs so far and I would like to lose another 30 but I'm not pressuring myself.... I went from a 22/24 to a 14/16. I never thought I would get down to this size and there are some 16 jeans that are already too big! I workout 2-3 times per week and I mix my workouts up between kickboxing and the elliptical. The support between family and friends is unbelievable. My favorite is when people Who I've known for a long time walk by me and don't know who I am.... dde00 My biggest piece of advice is don't pressure yourself... If you've been cleared to eat regular food and you're craving something... Like pizza or ice cream or chocolate, Have some but a very small piece... It will curb the craving And then you can eat something high in Protein And not obsess over that food that you wanted so bad. Here is a pic of me the day of surgery and one taken about a month ago...
