  1. Hey Tina, how is it going? I still have good and bad days. I have been on 217 for two weeks no, no gain, but no loss. I guess I hit my first plateau. No worries, i still take one day at a time. My doctor says I am still ahead of where the average person should be, so that makes me feel better. God Bless, m-

  3. Hell Inhardemon,

I do understand how things go with the insurance. That was one of the things I didn't enjoy the most outside of my sleep study. I will be praying for a quick approval. I really had to stay on my husband's insurance company, because they appeared to be in no hurry to approve me. Thank God it's all over and now the rest is up to me. Good luck and may God continue to bless you throughout this process. I do love my band and my first fill is next week.

  4. Gurl,thanks...because this band can be confusing!!! I'm soo worried about the diet stages...i dn't want to drink alot, but i know protein is a must!!! I'm glad to hear n time it will change..thanks so much for ur advice..u have a blessed week...gwen

  5. How are you doing now? Sorry, I didn't reply sooner, I have been frustrated with my band. I am still happy I did it, it just seems the weight is still hanging on. I lost 15 lbs at my 2 week follow up, however I am only 22 lbs down today -a month later.

You are not a failure, it just takes a little time to get used to the new diet. Please keep me posted on how you are doing. Have a great day!

  6. Hey!!!

Sorry to hear you had to have a complete unfill, but at least now you can control the fills and get to a good place. Too tight is never good! I haven't had a fill myself since January. I feel like I'm in a good place, but still haven't lost much more weight. Still at 40 lbs. lost. So, I recently started a power walking program and have lost 3 lbs. in 2 weeks! So excited about that! Hopefully it will get things moving again! Keep celebrating your 40 lb. weight loss and just keep on trucking baby!!!

  7. Thanks for visiting my blog. Its really interesting to learn you follow a high protein diet. I have so much conflicting information regarding what one can and cant eat. I am a total carnivore ( I live in the Scottish Borders where we have the best meat in the whole of the United Kingdom) Even the info my hospital gave me is conflicting! One section says dont eat chicken or beef for 3 months afer surgery, another section which covers 2wks + suggest eating minced meat. Guess its going to be trial and error! You look fab a great inspiration :0 )

  8. Hey there! Yeah I'm trying to slay the beast alright!lol! I went today to the dr and got .50cc filled so now I have a total of 4.5cc! Somehow I'm loosing 2pounds each week at the dr office so I should be down 27 pounds I think. I'm going to the gym tom and hopefully will know by the exact ounce where I'm at. Its amazing how the gym and the Dr office are two totally different numbers! How are you doing?

  9. you look so AMAZING! When was your surgery date? You have lost sooooo much weight! What kinds of things did you do and do you continue to do? CONGRATS!

I was banded 3/31/10 and so far am down 40lbs. I was hopeing for more and am super determined, but I have NO restriction yet what so ever. I could eat an elephant if I wanted. BUT I DONT! lol It is kind of frustrating since I have no restriction cause Its like I could be doing this whole diet thing without the lap band. So hopefully y next fill helps me out!

  10. How are you doing? Have you been banded yet. I am still waiting for an approval from my insurance company. I am looking to get a word back within the week. Good luck.

  11. Hey I know it feels like it has been forever... I mean it felt like ages since the last time we spoke to h and k time goes by so fast and weight creeps up even faster. Yeah it is exciting to know we are doing around the same time so we can have a bandster buddy to relate to. I will add you today on facebook. I don't know if h and k told you but we are moving this week, sao when we get settles you and steph should come over for dinner and guitar hero..... I'm scared too especially after seeing the process and getting to hold the band.

  12. HI Sandy I too over did it yesterdy! I have a small hotel in Scotland and this is our busiest week of the year, so I have to just get on with it! Cooked breakfast for 12 people this morning its much easier knowing I cant eat bacon and eggs

  13. Hi!! Been a while since I've been on here...I'm not doing so great with my band right now...I had my 2nd fill about 5 weeks ago & have lost nothing since :( I thought maybe they didnt hit the port?? IDK. Anyhow...I'm at 38 pounds lost...I was hoping to be 50 down by now. Thinking about signing up at curves. How are you doing? Congrats on your surgery :) How much have you lost??

  14. hey thnx for the pic comment...i feel great and that is what was important to me too. i am watching so much of what i eat and walking and back exercises and have been using a treadmill, recently bought some weights and hoping to start zumba next week... and i love to mow grass, it is crazy that it is my new favorite past time, lol

i hope u are able to be the person u want to be and that u can enjoy all that life has to offer, i think u will do fine with the surgery,, any questions or wanna talk just holla, sometimes i might be a lil slow since it had been pretty i am outside alot now. best wishes, beth

  15. Hey I am on my 3rd week after benn banded. I am very hungry and I can eat anything. Did you find that was normal for you?

  16. I am glad your fever went down! Hope the head ache goes away as well. The first few days were really tough for me with being sore and daily headaches... ugh! And it didn't help reading in the forums about all of these people who thought the surgery was a breeze and that they weren't even in pain..... What??? That just made me worry even more that something was very wrong with me. But beginning yesterday I think I am finally on the upswing. Now I am just so freaking hungry. This liquid diet has been VERY hard, but we almost have a week under our belts! In terms of my regular medications I have been cutting them in half and that seems to be okay. The only one thats really hard is my Metformin, which is a huge pill- I end up cutting that into like 8 peices. I tried crushing them all in the beginning but I just couldn't handle the taste. Did they give you pain meds?

  17. Hi....so yeah it's been a little over 3 weeks now but my weightloss has stopped. I am getting hungrier too. I called to get my first fill tomorrow cause I did not pay all this money to not have it work. So I will let you know how it goes. Urgh!! How are you doing?

  18. Hi! Congrats on getting your appoval. I think that may be the hardest part!. We are close in age, just a little under a year in age. Let me know what your sugery date is. I have one week from today!

  19. Well thanks for commenting:thumbup: on my post! It went well, I ate a small amount before going to the Dr. and on the drive over it came up, I was so frustrated and then I got on the scales and I was 3 lbs up!! The Dr. came in and we talked, this has gone on since my last fill and got more severe on my cruise! He put me under the exray and saw the swelling around my port and band immediately! The upchucking had caused irritation and swelling causing the band to tighten! So he removed .04ccs and then I had liquids for 48 hours, then I ate and I was so full and the food stayed down! How wonderful, I feel satisfied too.

I did not know it, but with a too tight band, you will NOT lose weight, when you throw up, you eat more to try and get something to go in and it may be all the wrong things!

I am checking out the recipes you have and going to try them now that I can eat again! We do have to learn to live this life after the LAP-BAND?! I am going back to the Gym next week too.

  20. Sorry it took me so long to reply. I was in pain for a few days afterward but returned to work a week and a half post-op. Down about 25lbs altogether. Stopped weighing every day.

  21. Hello There,

I did well. Yes I stayed in that room and was treated GREAT. I was there 3 days. Had vertigo from the meds? Everytime I moved I got pretty sick for about a week. The meds for this made me sleep a lot. I am having the blues. Cry daily. And I have been trying to do this alone. And that part is hard. In less than a month down 30 lbs. Slow and steady. Worried about the fill part. Does it hurt? I am so tender where the port is. It hurts to even touch it. Still can't sleep on my stomach and on my side it pulls that area 0 ; However, I did manage to take a NICE BUBBLE bath yesterday! That felt more....back to normal. I tried to get right back to work. But was so tired I couldn't. Walking more now. So day by day....

I wish I had someone to walk with and talk with about this. Maybe it would help.

  22. Hi everyone

I am new here. I had the Realize band on May5,2010. I am now 4 weeks post-op. I went to my first visit on 6-3. I was suppose to get my first fill. My Dr tried to get the needle in the port but it wouldn't go it hit but that's it .He said i have fluid around the port. So he drained it. He wants me to come back in 2 weeks to try a fill again. I was very disappointed. I had only lost 12 lbs in 4 weeks. I was in the hospital six days after my surgery with lung problems[it was caused by a sinus infection]. I go back on June 17th to try a fill again. I hope everything goes ok.

  23. by the way, I actually know how to spell "grateful". It's amazing what you miss when typing and thinking at the same time :).

Try some beans with salsa and cheese! I'm sure that is "mushie" stage stuff. I had never heard about mushies til coming to this site; I was just told the liquids for two weeks, then whatever my body would tolerate....I'm still in the pretty soft food stage, although I eat crackers (the new wheat thin cheese ones taste really good, and are really crisp).

So, have a good weekend...going yard sale shopping with my friend this weekend, and algebra homework...Cant remember if I told you I was a student or not, but this next week is my finals in algebra...interesting to be in college at my age with a whole bunch of kiddies...kinda fun. Take care and look forward to hearing from you!

  24. Hi,

Sorry...been a long time since I've been on here. I have lost only 55lbs since surgery. I was 289 before surgery and am at 233 now. I am sort of disappointed because the Dr. tells me that, that is a little slow...but I also have to admit I haven't been following all the rules either. I just cannot find a protein that appeals to my taste buds....they all make me nauseaous (sorry for the misspelling). So, how are you now? Did you meet your goal yet? Do you have a lot of lose skin or any advise on how to keep it tight? Any advise on anything? I need all the help I can get. Not sure how to move this along. I work out at the Gym 3 times a week for an hour ... but I don't do protein drinks and don't drink much water.

  25. Hey how are ya? Better here. I was down last week. Just felt hungry and my porportions seemed to hve increased, but I went to Dr today and somehow I have lost 2.5 pounds! He put addl 1cc in band so now I have a total of 4cc. I'm keep my appt next week incase I need another 1cc, but feeling fuller quicker which is excellent! How are you doing?
