2/5/20 I think I will eat the 8pm snack as planned so I am posting this now. The strawberries will be gone tonight and now I am craving them. This is what happens when I decide to eat a little fruit. It may very well be worth it as long as my blood sugars stay on target and I keep up my running. Today was my granddaughters 19th birthday so I went to lunch with her and a bunch of co-workers at TGIF. I went over my carb goal today, but it is what it is.... 7 am- coffee/cream 10 am- coffee/cream 12:30 pm- grilled chicken breast with bacon, pepper jack cheese, avocado, and ranch type dressing. A handful of fries and 2 mozzarella sticks. 4:30 pm- 3 turkey sticks with 3 squares of cheddar cheese 6 pm- coffee/cream 8 pm- vanilla yogurt with 4 strawberries Calories- 1079 Net Carbs- 32g Fiber- 7.7g Protein- 79g Fat- 54g Glycemic Load- 3.4

yesterday 2/4/20 My schedule was all messed up today because I had a doctors appt at 10:30 so I took a sick day off from work. It was 69 F here so I decided to go for a 2 mile run. My knee is still doing good. I ran about 60% and walked the rest. Slowly but surely I hope to get back to running 15-20 miles a week. 9. am- coffee/cream 12 pm- 3 smoked turkey sticks with 6 small squares cheddar cheese 1 pm- coffee/cream 2pm- diet green tea with handful of walnuts 6 pm- large salad with a hard boiled egg, walnuts, sliced avocado. Olive garden Italian dressing 8 pm- activia vanilla yogurt/ 4 strawberries Calories- 901.3 Net Carbs- 27 Fiber- 11.7g Protein- 40.9g Fat- 56g Glycemic Load- 2.4

Safe meds for arthritis?
Losingit2018 replied to Briswife15's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I too have horrible arthritis in my knees. The only think that can be used is a topical ointment. I have to think on the name. i think it is called voltaren. Do yourself a favor and try some turmeric! It must contain at least 10 mg of bioperine and 95% curcuminoids. You will be amazed at how well a simple spice works for inflammation. I literally went from not being able to walk without severe pain to no pain at all. My sister had surgery for torn miniscus and it works well for her too. -
They were supposed t be permanent although removable if a better solution came along. They are now saying they have a maximum 10- 15 year life span.

Jake - Just went thru the same thing 3 weeks ago and my answer is NO. I have tried but fall short almost every day, Plus I am cheating, For example this morning after Crossfit i took two pieces of toast. Butter and Homemade peanut butter (Honey Roasted) - That is about 500 calories but it took me nearly two hours at my desk to get it down. No its 11 and lunch is coming and not hugry at all. My Nutra girl have me hitting a few hershey kisses thru the day to get calories and energy. The meal powders add some calories but nothing for energy. It is hard to get the calories in without the carbs and sugar. Not sure how much you can eat but i can not eat that much at all. Unless its junk food for calories it is very hard to do. I stopped and stalled at 850 Calories so as long as i hit that I do not loose any more. By the way you Rocked this weight lose, we both had surgerys within 10 days - I actually am finding this to be harder then losing weight- Quick question you skin getting tighter from Working out? Mine is not or very little -

Yes, it will be on the site--if I can ever figure out how to configure it. LOL! I'm working on it. So you can use any size waffle maker. You just center the chaffle in the middle of your machine. You can get them used at GoodWill or Thrift Stores for about $10. You can order this from Amazon for $9.99 https://amzn.to/2GVCDU7 The batter/dough is very thick and sticky. They need to be pressed out and thinned to crisp up. So I don't think they would work as pancakes. But here is a recipe for my silver dollar pancakes that works well. Here's the biscuit mix recipe that you make ahead and store: https://fluffychixcook.com/mile-high-keto-biscuit-mix-low-carb/ Then here's the pancake recipe: https://fluffychixcook.com/mile-high-silver-dollar-pancakes-low-carb-gluten-free-options/ And here's another one: https://fluffychixcook.com/psylli-pumpkin-spice-pancakes-low-carb-induction-inspired-gluten-free/ -
I just finished watching the new Terminator movie and Linda Hamilton looks incredible in it! I lost 35 pounds before my surgery on 8/21/19. As of this morning, I am down a total of 107 pounds from my highest weight so even if I never lose another pound, I would not have a thing to complain about. This was still the best decision of my life but I am hoping to keep on losing to get closer to my goal weight. I look at your pics and cannot even imagine myself being as successful as all of you. You give me the drive to keep going.

Okay, so I’m home and have had a bit of time to process. One thing I realized is that in my entire adult life, I have never been at a weight that was one I wanted to stay it. It was always about losing the next 10 lbs, or whatever. Even when I was gaining I knew I needed to lose weight, so I was in that mindset. I was just beating myself up for what I weighed and for still gaining. This feels very very odd. Here is what I’m hoping for: building up my endurance so that I can go on 12 mile trail runs again. Last time I was up to that I weighed 230 lbs, so I’m interested to see the difference. Already hills are a VERY different experience. Right now when I run for more than 30 minutes, my body is trashed the next day. Not surprising, as I’ve been very low carb and low calorie. So my first priority is to get that in better shape. My dietician said to add in complex carbs and 2 snacks a day and see where that lands me. We are moving my powerlifting equipment out of the garage and into the house. My blood pressure is pretty low, and I get dizzy if I bend over too far, get up from laying down, etc. So it being in the garage was a safety issue (nobody was around). I’m looking forward to making headway in that area, too. In addition to being a longer distance runner, I was also a decent powerlifter a few years ago. My body composition will change as a result of my increased activity. I’m looking forward to feeling strong and fit again. i almost forgot! They printed out my intake photo. I’m including an after/current.

Here are some basics that I hope will help you - there are two basic kinds of plans. 1. You have a straight copay ( there may be different amounts for your pcp and specialists) and 2. A deductible and then a percentage (for a few lucky people that is 0, but usually it’s between 10-30%). When you have a deductible, that means that every year when it turns over, that’s usually in January but for a few companies it can be in the fall, do you have to begin again and meeting your deductible. Remember that you aren’t paying the full price of a provider service but I instead you pay a discounted rate based on your individual insurance carrier (providers contract with each insurance company for a set rate and those usually very across states and whether it’s in a metropolitan or rural area), how much ”usual and customary” price/rate. You pay the usual and customary rate until you meet your deductible, but once you meet that you only pay a percentage of the rate (this is called co-insurance). Once you meet your out-of-pocket maximum, then you pay zero. But all of that starts over when you get to the turnaround time each year. An example. Let’s say your deductible is 300 (wouldn’t that be nice, mine is 6,000!) then a 25% co-insurance. Then you visit your doctor and the usual and customary rate for each visit is $100. So, once you go 3 times you will have met your deductible and the 4th visit and those after for the year would only be $25 each. Don’t worry that you don’t understand all this, lots of people don’t. And there’s no reason you would without a lot of experience with either doctors offices or medical billing. Good luck!

January 2020 Surgery Date
rene50 replied to Krimsonbutterflies's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
WOW, 14 lbs! That is wonderful! You go girl! I'm down 10 lbs in 8 days, but not complaining. -
Hi guys! I met with my surgeon and my dietician today. After we discussed my athletic goals, where I am now, where I started, we’ve decided to go ahead and shift into maintenance mode. Realistically, I will probably still lose the 10 more pounds that I had in my head, but weight loss will no longer be my focus. I’m going to start working on my endurance and building up some muscle 💪 I’m fortunate that my surgeon’s background is in sports nutrition. Later tonight I will start really perusing this thread!

Yesterday Monday, Feb 3 Maintenance : 5'2" / 1.25 yr PO Sleeve / 117.7 lbs ---------------------------------------- Another day, another lack-luster effort to reign it in...I am now in "HEYYYY!!!" weight territory again. Didn't I just work myself down form this a couple weeks ago?!?!?...and now I'm back. I can't even console myself with inches measurements as I am bloated and especially swollen these days. Anyway. I am giving it the all-star effort to get back on track and get the good feels again: I dragged my lazy butt outside for an almost 2-hour, 10km+ walk earlier and I have to say I do feel better. I would feel alot better if I could have run it, but I'll take what I can get. I even did 20 squats and 2 x 1min planks. #smallVictories ---------------------------------------- 9:00am - black coffee w/ stevia 12:00pm - salad w/ vinaigrette + carrots + cucumber + 3 oz roasted brussel sprouts + 4 shrimp wontons 2:00pm - salad w/ vinaigrette + carrots + cucumber + 2 fl oz tuna salad (tuna, celery, mayo) + 1 soft boiled egg 5:00pm - 2 gin and sodas 7:30pm - salad w/ vinaigrette + carrots + cucumber + 2.5 oz avocado + 2 fl oz tuna salad + 2 oz roasted sweet potato + 2 tbsp garlic & herb cream cheese 10:30pm - 1 cup greek yogurt + 1 oz blueberries + 1/2 fl oz pumpkin seeds + 1 tsp honey +1 oz beef jerky + 1/2 chocolate crinkle cookie ---------------------------------------- Totals: 1915 cals - 110g Protein 98g NET carbs - 94g fat

Fibromyalgia, did it get better?
MoBariatric replied to Nermada's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Hey Girl Hey!!!! Sorry for all your current limitations. You will get better! I have Lupus and Mixed Connective Tissue Disease (Fibromyalgia), and was banded in April 2019. To include being a massage therapist for 14 years, to say that I have the highs and lows! 1. First thing, try to get moving more. Ease your way into it of course... Swimming then when you're ready, lift light weights. (Made a huge difference for me and my Fibromyalgia clients) 2. Find a massage therapist that you can trust and that will listen to you and your body. For example, when you ask for a massage, say I want light to medium pressure, please dont use your elbow, thumbs to remove knots just your palm. 3. TRUST the process, I know pain is horrible and no one knows like us how it feels to hurt when someone hugs us. Best on your journey! I hope this can help a little. it can happen, yes. You need to get a handle on that ASAP or you're going to end up gaining most or all of your weight back. It's much easier to lose 10 lbs than it is 50. Do you have access to a therapist and/or dietitian? It might not be a bad idea to find some help...

I looked pretty scrawny when I got to my lowest weight, but things kind of re-distribute after awhile and most people eventually look way better. Like you, my low weight was in a normal BMI range for me, though. as for trying to gain weight, don't forget that most of us gain 10-20 lbs during year 2 or 3 (some, unfortunately, gain more than that - some WAY more). I've put on 24 lbs since I hit my lowest weight, which I'm sick about and trying to re-lose. I don't want to be at my thinnest again as it was too light for me, but I would LOVE to lose 10-15 lbs, and it's a real bear. I personally wouldn't try to gain weight because you're likely to do so on your own without much effort once you're in year 2 or 3. In the mean time, things will shift around and you'll likely look much better in about six months, even at your current weight.

Intermittent Fasting Daily Menu/Results/Accountability
Apple1 replied to FluffyChix's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
Yesterday I planned to eat just one meal. I ate dinner at about 6:30 which was just about 30 minutes shy of 24 hours since my last meal. I did drink 2 large cups of coffee and plenty of water. I ended up having a snack after the group meeting about 10 pm,so I am not sure it was really one meal, but I ended the day with only 774 calories consumed. I went for a run yesterday morning!!! This was my first time since knee surgery 2 months ago to repair a torn meniscus. It went pretty good. I only ran 2 miles and I definitely did not push myself. I am a little sore but the knee feels ok. I ran then walked, then ran. I felt the pull to keep running like I used to and it felt so dang good. I am praying I can keep going with no pain. -

Have to wait 2-3 weeks from insurance approval to surgery consult!
saram245 posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If you’re someone who is patient you will not be able to relate! I just needed to vent because this sucks! I have every single thing done for surgery. Every piece of paper has been turned in, every procedure for testing done. I was submitted for insurance and approved. My clinic does not require any further testing. I have not one more appointment. I got a message today being told I was approved and that they are sending my file for clinical review, and to allow 10-14 business days. I would understand if there was more things to complete. But I am 100% ready! And then after I get the call for consultation, I will have to wait two more weeks to get into the consultation. And then who knows how long out my surgery date will be. This process has already taken 6 months. Has anyone else had this happen? Please tell me it didn’t take the full two weeks to get a consultation date!
