  1. I havent posted for awhile, but I had to tell a funny story. I was modeling an outfit that I bought to wear to Chicago next weekend for my mom to get her opinion. My son came in and said " you look like a teenager". Now I dont know if it was really a compliment, but I guess I will take it as one. Made me laugh!! Quick update; im down 58 pounds. have been plateaued for the past month or so. But finally started losing this past week. Which is weird, cause I havent even been trying. I was just planning on riding it out until after the holidays and start again. I guess I will see how far I can go with this wave of weight loss!! hope all is well with everyone
  2. So I am getting in the tub...and I noticed THAT I DIDN'T FLOOD THE BATHROOM FLOOR. Usually when I get in it is like I parted the Red Sea...But not today folks!

    my story

I love this! One of my favorite NSVs is the energy I now have for my kids.
  4. My 2 cents worth here, but I think everyone will lose at different rates, but another thing to watch is the inches we are losing. I may not be losing weight as rapidly as i'd like, but with the walking, and additional exercises, I see it in my clothes. I'm just over 5 weeks out from surgery (Banded on November 26th, 2008) and i've lost a total of 16 lbs since my surgery. However, i've lost 35 lbs total, with the 2 week diet before, and over 25 inches over my whole body! So check the inches too!!! Last night I visited with my Sister and her family, and she's about 4 inches shorter, and 100 lbs lighter than me, or used to be. She gave me a sweater that she thought might fit and I thought she was crazy. But, I wore it to work today!!!!! Yeah! Another NSV!!! So count the lbs, definitely, but count the inches, too, and Smile, Smile, Smile  !!!!!

    My NSV for last week.....

Can't wait for that to be my nsv Sent from my SM-N920T using the BariatricPal App
  6. Curious if anyone else experiences the mental game. I will be going along losing then all of a sudden for like two or three weeks, sometimes longer then there will be no scale movement at all and NSV's just don't seem to be there either. It sets me off thinking maybe I've reached the end of the line with my weight loss and my band (which I know is just a tool) has reached is maximum potential. Anyone else ever feel like that? I have lost a very large amount of weight but still 45 pounds from my personal goal. Even when I hit that personal goal of 220 I will still be with a high BMI. I am only 5'6. I can only imagine what it will be like to hit a real plateau...which will come like it or not.
  7. Happy bday Diva and congrats on the NSV! You rawk!
  8. Awesome NSV, and then to look at the scale to realize you are doing great! Karen
  9. I'm fairly sure most of y'all can relate so I thought I'd share this weird NSV. Today, we were running around the house, getting ready for my husband's orthodontic consult, we're also buying a house, and our home that we rent is on the market so the listing agent showed up unexpectedly without notice, just pissing me, and making my crazy, pregnant hormonal self all in a rage. Anyway, so in the craziness, I threw on some clothes, and forgot deodorant. You're thinking big deal, right? Well, the issue is we live in hot/muggy Florida. The thermometer in my truck said 90 degrees. I got in, started backing out of the driveway, and realized "Crap, no deodorant". My husband was like "great, stinky winky at the dentist". Best advantage to not being fat is I didn't sweat or get sweaty/icky in the underarm department ! ! ! Pre-op weight would have had me sweating profusely, and stinking to high heaven within 10 minutes. We were outside all afternoon, walking around, picking up pine cones in our yard, and not once did I sweat or get stinky ! ! !

    Nsv On The Plane Today......

Oh I am so happy for you!!! This is the NSV that is high on my list.. Most of the time I can't buckle the seatbelt.. I fly almost every week!! Can't wait to be on the losers bench!! 13 days to go!!!
  11. This is one of my future NSV's. Yay you! That's awesome!
  12. A picture is worth a thousand words and that picture speaks volumes. Congrats to you! I can't wait to have the same nsv one day.
  13. Terrible photo with the iPad but look at the seatbelt! That is the excess once I pulled it in. Presurgery I was struggling to do it up and on the border of asking for an extension belt. Today, I got to tighten it. And LOOK!

    R U Kidding me!?!?!

I always retain Water whenever I get into a pool or near the ocean. I can actually see it in my lower legs and ankles. Look for other NSV... don't give up the exercise, it is hard to get motivated to start. Your scale will show your efforts soon. Great job for getting to the gym!!
  15. I am getting the sleeve done on October 1st, and I have been on my liquid diet for one out of three weeks needed. I tried to stay to myself for the first few days and just kinda hang out where I wasn't going to have the issue of food being *right* there. I worked all week, did my thing, and now I find myself on a day off and I realize that this is one of my problems! I always eat so much more when I am at home with nothing to do. I am happy to report that instead of just sitting around I mowed the lawn, went and got another Protein option, got another of the supplements that my NUT wanted me to get for post-surgery, and I bought a more reliable scale for tracking things. I was active, I was moving around, I was feeling good. I have to tell you, though, my moving around had me driving past places that I would have normally dropped in and ate something at. It felt good to drive right past. That brings me to the title of my post: tip-toes and eggshells. I feel like this week has been an eye-opening experience for me. My relationship with food used to define me. But now, I can drive past my old food favorites and I know that I am moving on to a better life. I am even ok with smells. (I went to a GNC to get some stuff and there was a Little Ceasar's 2 doors down. Smelled good, but not enough to compromise this.) I went to visit a friend because we haven't had much occassion to see each other in the last week. I mixed up a strawberry-lemonade Protein Shake and figured I was going to be just fine. D, my friend, felt she had to warn me that her house was going to smell like food because she had a meal cooking in the crock-pot all day long. I told her I would be fine and she dropped it. I sat with her and just talked for almost 3 hours and every time she brought up a new topic is was in some way wrapped around food. Finally, D stops and looks at me and actually appologized for talking about food! I had to laugh and tell her it was ok. I think she felt like she has to tip-toe around the subject because I am denying myself solid food right now. I am not going to lie, I am a total foodie. I love cooking, I love different tastes, I love the social aspect of having a meal with friends. But, I am also at a point where I am not going to let food define who I am. I have thought about surgery before (at my highest I weighed just over 400 lbs) but it was never right for me before. After nights like tonight, I know I am on the right track. I know that it is finally right for me. I think I have seen these called non-scale victories. Well, my friends, I think I have had my first NSV. And I like it.

    When to expect stalls?

Great advice RW! I did seem to make a breakthrough this morning - moved to 27.5 but I did have some NSVs too! : - I'm able to move to the middle hook on all my bras (except my sports bras) -My husband said when he hugs me, he feels a huge difference and I can tell too - my work gym has a huge set of stairs to the locker rooms and when i started, it felt like I wasn't sure I could walk up them after working out to leave...now I'm already flying up those stairs. - I looked in my car mirror and was happy to see my "swollen moon face" from my thyroid issues has come way down and I can see my cheekbones wanting to make an appearance woo hoo

    CHEW~!~...and the next NSV

I got my first fill yesterday and I can tell the difference today. It took me 40 minutes to eat about 2 oz of meat and a tablespoon of green beans. I started out eating a little too fast and FELT IT!! OUCH! So, I've learned that I MUST chew chew chew!!! The restriction has officially begun! It makes me a little nervous to eat now, I'm sure that I will get used to it. I have to say it's amazing to me to take a piece of meat that before the band would have been two bites, and turn it into a complete portion and still not be able to eat it all. CRAZY!! I'm loving it though. I worked out hard today, it felt good. An hour of cardio, then 30 minutes of weight lifting then a two mile bike ride. I feel energized! I've officially RETIRED my size 16's!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm so excited; and to be honest my 14's aren't going to be around long, they are already a little big. Way cool. The weekend is here and should be a good time. I've got to go SHOPPING!! Need to find something to make HOT Greg notice me. So, I'm off...
  19. This weekend is full of NSV's for me. Yesterday morning I was rushing around getting ready for my 8 am Zumba class - I totally FORGOT to drink my usual Breakfast Protein Drink before I went! Never in my life have I forgotten to eat. I occasionally chose to skip a meal when I was sick - but never just FORGOT. My body reminded me sharply half-way through Zumba when I got a little dizzy / faint feeling. I realized I must be HUNGRY! I sat down for a couple of songs, drank some Water then fininshed class - went home and ate breakfast. What a wierd thing to happen - FORGOT TO EAT! This morning the scale moved and I finally have a BMI of 29.9. I am NO LONGER OBESE - just OVERWEIGHT! Been a long time for this. Now to keep losing until I get to the NORMAL stage!

Yesterday as I left the house to take my kids to school my pants, which were almost too small 4 weeks ago, took a serious trip south! Good thing the sidewalk was empty. Someone would have gotten an eye full!

    Nsv

I'm down roughly 25 lbs since I was banded in June. Prior to that I had lost 30 lbs on my own. I started in a size 26 on the bottom and a 24 on the top. Today I went to Lane Bryant and bammmm....I'm 18/20 on the top and 22 on the bottom! I've been discouraged that I haven't been losing fast enough but now I feel like it is paying off in a non scale way. Thank you for all your support.:faint:
