Anyways, thanks for the very interesting read and I wish you the best of luck with your upcoming surgery!

  5. Great will know if I'm approved in the next 2-3 week so wish me luck. How are you?

  6. Hey tayter! I'm still waiting on insurance approval to go to surgery. I'm glad everything is going well for you. How has Dr Sarker been treating you since surgery? Did you have to stay overnight at hospital? Dr Sarker told me I will because of my age (48). I'm hoping to hear from Marva sometime this week that BCBS of IL has approved. Wish me luck and I befriended you so we can give support to each other. Lokking forward to the new journey with you.

  7. I am in now day 6 of my post op but let me update where I came from since Monday.

When they did my Barium swallow just a drop or 2 of contrast went thru. They assumed the Dr. would pull the primer fluid from the band before I left the hospital. did not happen. He assumed that the swelling would go down and I would be fine. Didn't happen couldn't get hardly a thing in my body. Called the Dr. and they said to come back to the office the next morning and they would draw out any fluid in the band. Easy for them to say, I lived 3 hours from the hospital. Got there at 10:30 on Friday morning. They took the fill syringe and went in thru the cut where the port was placed. Hurt like heck. Pulled 3cc of fluid and it was like the dam broke and I open up and felt it immediatly. They gave me a cup of water and it went down and oh what a relief it was. I am now consuming about 500 calories a day. No nausea or reflux and getting about 48 ounce of water and my strength is coming back.

  8. Hi Jillian - Things have been crazy since hubby's surgery - barely keeping up with the business & house, but I have lots of news. I have surgery related doc apts every day this week so we're def moving forward. It's almost 1:00 am now and my first apt. tomorrow is at 9:00 so I'm heading off to bed but PROMISE I will be in touch soon. Sorry I've been AWOL and thanks for leaving me little messages! I've needed the encouragement. Hopefully I'll be back on tomorrow! Debbie

  9. yep ibelieve it does! give it a week or two and take ibuprophen. the swelling will go down. liquid motrin is the same thing..childrens formula .. just take double dose..helps with swellng too..

  10. Thank you so much for the feed back. I only work out maybe 2x per week. I am eating around the same amount of calories, but I know the key is to step up my workouts. Girl, you are such an inspiration to me, and I really appreciate you taking the time out to support me. May God continue to bless you on this journey! Again, Amazing!

  11. You poor thing- I was just miserable with the infection and nothing but liquids. But my doctor gave me diflucan to treat the yeast infection and that worked wonders! Im almost 5 week out from surgery and feeling GREAT now! Hang in there it does get better!

  12. Hello msdeneen2004:

Yes I exercise. I can't beleive I am saying that seeing how exercise was pretty much a four letter word for me prior to my surgery. I am not an exercise fanatic, but i do try to do it at least 3-4 times a week. I am a big fan of Leslie Sansone. I have about 10 of her videos. She does the Walk Away the Pounds series. You pretty much do walking and variations of walking in your own home. When i first started I could not do her 1 mile (15 minutes) video without being out of breath. I was that out of shape. When I was doing my "hardcore" routine (lol), I would do her 5 mile (about an hour) about 4-5 times a week. Now I try to do at least 30 minutes of exercise (which is two miles) 3-4 times a week. The point is find something you like and do it at least 3-4 times a week. What works for me is the Leslsi sansone videos becasue you will get a good workout, but it is not like a bootcamp "work you til you fall out" thing.

  13. Hello Phyllser, You have come a long way baby!!!!! With weight loss and RVing. You look great! We have a fith-wheel we roam around in. We were down in Texas this past spring. We RVed for two weeks. We are not yet retied. my husband is 55 and can retire but we have my granddaughter living with us and her mom (our daughter). The mom is thinking about the Navy and I recomend it highly to her. Then I think we can set forth and do some good traveling. What kind of dog do you have? I have a Shitzu named Sophie. She loves the RV campgrounds. The smells are what she likes the most I guess. Please let me know how your trip went. Do you have a laptop? and get wifi where you stay? We try to. Good luck to you in your endevors. I have not been banded yet but hope to be soon. Wendy Ann

  14. Good Morning Claudia,

Cant wait to get my 1st fill. It has been a long 6 weeks. Ive been doing ok wth my eating but starting to struggle at night. Keep wanting to snack but stop myself so Im really hoping this fill will give me some restriction but most important keep me feeling full longer. Let me know what time your appt is at maybe we can connect. Have a great weekend. The weather will be really nice :)

  18. The words that your friend shared with you are very inspiring!!!! This journey of regaining our body and the image that we want people to see is all a matter of believing that we are WORTH it. I will have to read that statement a couple of times but I have the point of it planted in my soul.

I am very funny..... I am the funny fat girl that always has a joke to share. Now I just want to be the funny girl. I went to the Pulmonary Doctor and he cleared me. Next week I have the endoscopy exam..... The nutritionist is in October. I have been cleared by everyone else..... Now, I just weight the 6 months as required by insurance.

  19. Hi Brinabrina! u look amazing girl! I was banded on Jul-29-10. Headed into my 4th week post op and can't wait for my first fill! I just wanted to stop by and wish you continued success! You go girl!

  20. Talk anytime you need. I truly understand, this December will be 6 years since my brother died (he was 24 yo and died in a motorcycle accident). Your sister sounds like she was the type of person that brighten a room as soon as she walked in. I also know that weight loss is very hard after during grief. So good job for all of your weight loss!!! Hope you have a good week.

  21. TAU

I just wanted you to know that I love to read all your posts. I was banded in mid February. I have lost 61 pounds so far. I had a dr appoint this week and have been a little disappointed with my loss this summer. He was very nice and explained to me that I have been under alot of stress and that plays a big part with the band. Both of my parents had Alzheimer's and I am the only child. I have had my hands full. My dad died in June, and I have been grieving. Plus I am having to deal with all the financial stuff. Now my three boys have all gone off to school, and I am dealing with empty nest syndrone. I did get a fill this week. I think I have 4cc. How much do you have? You seem to have Shakes extra to your meals. Is that right? I was using them as a meal, like for breakfast. I don't know if I get hungry at night or just bored and lonely (husband works alot) but I want to eat at night. Do you ever have this? Any suggestions? Also where do you get your vitamins? I take the Flintstones?

  22. Hey -how's the band going? Headed to Murray in a few weeks to buy a new(used) horse trailer...just past my bandaversary and stopped by the website.

  23. Thanks Girlfriend! I just got back from the beach on Monday and I swear, I ate everything that wasn't breathing! I knew that I was starting something new, but I guess I panicked and just started eating. lol! Well, it's out of my system now and I'm ready for the new me and new way of thinking.

I am so ready to get this surgery over with! I hope the 3 weeks of liquids post-op don't kill me! lol! I'm going to start Atkins today to try to get a few pounds down before my surgery date.

I see that you are still in the fight. I wish you and everyone else nothing but the best. Take care and keep in touch!

  24. yea ive been feeling pretty good. just some days i get really hungry so ive just been increasing my protien intake. i havent gotten any food stuck, ive heard that really hurts tho. im still eating a lil too fast, it takes me about 15-20 mins and then i start burping..a lot!! i wont get a fill for another 2 weeks tho :( lemme know how it goes for u. lots of luck...jess :)
