Another NSV for me today! My "new" old bathing suit was falling off me last night at the pool, so I had to get one that wouldn't be x-rated for tonight's swim time. Went into the shop and the salesgirl (who happens to be a cousin) kept saying that the ones I was looking at were too big. To humor her, I picked up the size I thought I wanted and the size she thought would fit. She was right! I'm now, officially, in a 16, not a 16w, etc, but an honest to goodness 16! I am so excited. I was 23 the last time I could wear this size!!!

Had my 3 week postop yesterday and he said everything looks perfect! YAY He said I can pretty much have anything that dont require chewing 30 times to swallow, and to quit stressing so much about not being able to tolerate the Protein Drinks. Although he would like to see me @ 60-70g a day, he is more concerned that the majority of my nutrition come from Protein. I told him I was pretty much living off scrambled eggs, (2 a day) because I was pretty scared to try much else because Im terrified of a leak. He reassured me that the chances of that are very slim, to use good judgement and not to worry so much, that I had followed all the rules up till now so obviously I had it under control. He cleared me for a cup of coffee, and said I can have a diet coke in 2 more weeks. I asked him about carbonation stretching out the sleeve, and he said that is totally not true just to sip it slowly as it may make me gassy/burpy. He was very pleased about my 29 lb weight loss, and told me the stall I went through was totally normal, and sometime happen frequently so no stressing about it, just keep on keeping on, the weight will come off. His goal weight for me is 120, and I told him I was 130 when I graduated HS and was very slender. He said 130 is fine, but 120 will allow the 7-15lb bounceback around 3 years and still keep me in a normal BMI. All in all, a very good post op! Im going today to get me some shaved deli meat, sounds delish! NSV~~~went shopping yesterday for a few things for Hawaii, I didn't have to shop in the "womans" section, got things from the ladies section, I have went from a 18W to a loose 16 pants, and a XXL shirt to XL!!! WooHoooooooo!

Yippie! I had to go shopping last night for new clothes for work, and was quite happy to see I am in a size 16 now! I started off as a 20 (probably should have been a 22, but I was in denial, lol), and while the scale hasn't moved as quickly as I would have liked, it is nice to have this happen. Made me feel really, really confident!

My feet didn't get smaller, just not so fat and swollen. So my feet aren't any shorter but my shoes swim on me now. I do love TJ Maxx and Ross. My personal motto is "Never pay full price for anything". I wish I had a Macy's close. I was quite excited finding a couple of tops on clearance at Kohl's. They are Vera Wangs. I have never been able to wear anything she made. Cool NSV.

May Check In For August 2011 Sleevers

I'm in the same boat as BroadwayBaby. Little-to-no weight loss, but little-to-no effort or discipline on my part. It will come back. Life has been throwing me some awesome NSV's. I decided I had some decent enough pictures of me at this lower weight that I was willing to put some on match.com. I met an awesome guy about a week into that, and here we are, blissfully happy 2 months later. In the same time period, I managed to score an interview with an awesome company. Their interview process was long (five interviews!) but it all worked out in the end, and I start my new job on Monday!! I've been working a dead-end job for the last 4 years while I tried to figure out my next career path, so this is just a really awesome opportunity that I'm really excited about. Oh, and my pay will be doubling! I know these aren't directly related to the number on the scale, but neither one would have been possible 9 months ago. I needed the self-confidence and increased energy that came along with losing 50 pounds. I still have another 50 to lose, and I need to refocus on that, but I'm just so happy to have my life looking totally awesome right now. -
I am a good cook and as the self-appointed matriarch of the family have always loved to put on big family dinners. Some of my major concerns pre-surgery were that I might somehow develop an aversion to food or the smell of food, and that I might no longer like or want to keep up the family dinner traditions given that I would be limited in partaking thereof. Along comes Mother's Day, 8 weeks out... We traditionally have the first big cookout of the year on Mother's Day, with all the kids and grandkids in attendance. We prepared the traditonal list of grilled goodies, such as cheeseburgers, hot dogs, brats with all the fixins' such as chili sauce, kraut, corn on the cob, mac & cheese, baked Beans, and most glorious of all... two homemade New York cheesecakes with raspberry coulis!! So darn good!! The Victory is that I enjoyed cooking and serving just as much as I ever did. I ate a bite or two or most things (skipped the corn on the cob and the green salad, and left off the buns), including the cheesecake. It was a major relief to sail through the first event and still feel normal! Looks like Thanksgiving is still a go! No one commented on the small amount I ate, but they did notice the weight loss!

I thought I would post a litlle about where I am at, 3 months after surgery. First off I still Love my band and have I do not have any regrets. My surgery date was February 16th, 2012. My starting weight was 232lbs. Since surgery I have lost 38lbs. WooHoo! It feels amazing and its starting to look amazing too! Along with that victory I have had those amazing Non scale victories that just make this whole process worth it. One of my NSV's was Shopping in the Juniors section and purchasing a size 13! (now they are loose 11 here I come ) As for my Lapband, I believe i have a 10cc LapBand, i am currently filled to 6cc. I have had two fills so far and have just experienced what restriction feels like. I am still getting used to what foods work for me and what do not. So far this seems to be a new process each fill. I feel that the Lap Band has been a success so far for me because I have changed my life style completely, I realize this is forever, I do not deprive myself like I am on one of my old hardcore diets. I eat healthy as a lifestyle now, not a 4 week diet. When I am craving something that is higher in calories than normal I will allow myself a bite if it is something my band will even allow and I stop there and move on with my life. My biggest motivator is knowing that these 38lbs are not coming back and that this is just the beginning! I know this website can be full of issues which we all run into at some point or another, but I just wanted to post my progress so far because nothing motivates me more than reading others stories and learning how they are living with the lap band.

No Longer Hot? Omg This Is Awesome!
minniekitty replied to WhoozisAnyway's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Oh really? That would explain a lot. I'm always cold, which is something I prefer to always being hot and sweaty. When I was big, it was so embarassing when my pits and back would sweat like crazy. Especially when I was at school and wore a backpack. I had the clinical strength antipersperant and deoderant, and I'd put it not only on my pits, but inbetween my lovehandles on my back and under my boobs! I still couldn't do anything about my sweaty forehead or scalp (which made my hair look wet and greasy on especially hot and humid days). I can soooo relate to this NSV. I share your joy. This is one of the many pros to the VSG. I dreaded the summer (I live in a very humid area), but now I can be comfortable this year! Congrats, WhoozisAnyway. -
A Positive Result From A Negative Situation
SashaWLS replied to Jenn1214's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
That's a great NSV, but I want to remind you that even if you were still fat, you're STILL not that person. Fat is something we do, not something we are. You will always be you, and you'll always be awesome and have value, regardless of what shape you show the world. I also would like to offer a suggestion for your husband. Because this student is a kid, even if he's an older kid, this can be turned into a teaching moment... At some point, he could say "I know when you look at this photo all you see is a fat person, but that's because you're a teenager and don't know how to look beyond the surface. As you get older and your brain finishes growing, you'll be able to see more than just that." There's probably a way to tie this into an art lesson, about seeing beneath the surface, and trying to paint what's inside... Or whatever. But if he gets angry, he's telling the kid that he's right... And he's not. He just doesn't know. -

A Positive Result From A Negative Situation

Jenn1214...that is such an awesome NSV. I have to admit...I still get perturbed at comments and actions like that. I just want to scream at people..."You don't like the way I look now??? You shoulda seen me 3 1/2 months ago!" But...it doesn't do any good to get angry over it. We only hurt ourselves when we react rather than respond. I may need to have tattooed on the inside of my arm so I don't forget what I just wrote. LOL. -
Hope you all had a wonderful Mother's Day! We were pretty lazy after I returned from the gym yesterday morning. However, had a good NSV over the weekend. My mom gave me a pair of jeans from a friend of hers. 18s! Yay! They were a little snug...but they won't be after this week. woot woot!

I Let Someone Take A Photo, And I Didn't Cringe
minniekitty replied to Amanda 3.0's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
This was one of my goals too- to let people take pictures of me and not dread the results. It's funny that one of you mentioned untagging Facebook pictures- I did that quite a bit 80 lbs ago. I really, really hated how I looked in almost all pictures of myself from the shoulders down (and even some face pictures). Congrats on this NSV! -

Pre-Op Nsv (And A Sv To Boot!)
GivingItMyAll posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Let me preface by saying that I dont even have a surgery date yet. I finally caught the workout bug and am actually looking forward to spending time OUTSIDE with my daughter rather than taking her out just because I know it's good for her. I don't look any different, but feel like a million bucks after a hearty workout this morning. And for the scale victory, I'm down 3 pounds this week. WOOT! I just started tracking my food last week and it really makes a difference. -

My best friend of 20 years came to visit me, and I let her take my photo. That is a HUGE NSV for me. I know I am not where I want to be yet, but I was so happy to see my friend, and also I was wearing a size medium top and size 12 jeans. -
Living The Nsv's At The Moment

Congrats to you! I relate to your NSVs. A glamour shot? That is a huge NSV. I hope you post it here when you do it. I let my friend take a photo of me today. It was scary, but it felt so good to not be afraid. Celebrate every moment of your new life! -
Coming up to 8 months post op and life feels better than I remember it being. This week has been a week for NSV's : * completed my first fun run, 8 kms in just on 1 hour * I fit into a size of jeans that I have not worn since I was 14 * feeling great and positive about the direction and the people in my life * am even planing a glamour shoot to show how far I have come. Even the scale is co-operating a bit.

I'm losing a pound here and there, but it's frustrating not to lose pounds faster. It's great to know it does happen! I'm still hunting those NSVs and they've been plentiful, thank goodness!

Jimmy, Congratulations!!! You're already seeing results, which is so wonderful!! Don't give in to the urge for something carbonated. Do check with your doctor about an acid reducer and/or a nausea medicine. You'll be amazed at how much better you feel as soon as you start taking them. Are you allowed decaf tea or coffee right now? If so, maybe a cup of one would help with the idea that you need soda. I love that you're already looking for those NSV's! I'm gonna turn every one of the newbies into NSV ho's like me!
