This didn't work for me
Introversion replied to Sleeved in DFW :-)'s topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm 5'1. My original goal weight was 110 lbs (BMI of 20), but I revised it upward to 130 because I was losing so slowly and thought I'd never make it to goal. 17 months post-op I reached 118 pounds (BMI of 22). My body's decided to settle here for now. I like how I look at 118 lbs and have been in maintenance a little more than a year. -
Revision approved and date set!
drizz75 posted a topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
That was fast! I was approved on the first try through BCBS. Revison date scheduled with Dr. Caruana (Buffalo, NY) for November 20th. Original surgery was open RNY Gastric Bypass, and now I believe he is performing a revision to the distal small bowel bypass by shortening the common channel to add some malabsorbtion into the game. They did not do this when I had my surgery 15 years ago, and a lot of research has been done since with the hormones centered in this length of bowel and weight loss. I'll clarify and will edit this if needed. They offered me October 23rd, but I needed to give my work time to find a sub and to get off of hormonal birth control. Bought a couple tubs of Bariatric Fusion protein powder today, making bone broth and generally getting mentally prepared for the prospect of 10 days of the liver reduction diet and being on clear liquids for Thanksgiving. (No turkey smoothies. lol) Super excited, as I've been trying to get a revision for about 7 years. -
Well really doing keto is not super high fat. You set your protein goals based on your lean mass. Then you set your other goals around that. When I was trying to lose harder, my calories and fat grams and calories were lower. These are my current macro goals, It is still a deficit daily but not as high. This is what my macros used to be around 6 months post op, then I increased my protein based on my DEXA scans... Honestly I rarely hit my goal for fat, I always hit my goal for protein and I always keep my carbs under 25. This is how I have eaten pretty much the whole time. The way you eat doesn't matter. What does matter is finding a way to eat that you can stick to easily while remaining on a calories deficit. I thought you were getting a revision. You keep making the same posts over and over about regain but none of the advice anyone gives you seems to be sticking.

I'm having band to bypass revision surgery on November 8th. I'm excited for a life-change but nervous and anxious for the procedure. My anxiety is unfortunately so bad that my blood pressure sky-rockets at the hospital - and I don't even have high blood pressure! The last time I was in for a surgery (in February for an ankle surgery), I told them how anxious I was. They immediately spoke to the anesthesia doctor and got me a major dose of valium which was a huge help! Talk with your nurses, they are there to help you feel comfortable. I do anesthesia on animals, stress and anxiety changes how much anesthesia we use but it doesn't necessarily change their outcome. Anesthesia is always a risk, but you are in the hands of trained professionals! Also, word of advice...talk to the anesthesia doctor as well (they should come talk to you anyway before-hand), tell them your fears, find out their credentials if it will help you feel better. I'm 31, single, and just have animals as my kids. I'm going back to work 10 days after surgery - should be fun! You can do it! The outcome will be amazing and finally we can live a healthy life!

You look awesome! Keep it up! It gives me hope to see you doing well! I'm getting my revision from band to bypass Nov. 8th and have high hopes for success! -
The other thing that I was told by surgeon if that revision patients lose way slower than a person who just got sleeve with no WLS prior

When I have more time I will respond to this better. I have PCOS and got lapband 14 years ago. Then this week on October 3 rd had band to sleeve revision. But.... PCOS is terrible. I am sorry you deal with that too. I don't get periods at all but I have 4 kids from 16 years old to 5 years old. Femera was the answer for me. Anyway I'm healing so I'm a bit groggy but I will try and get back to you as soon as I get a little better.:)

Gastric Bypass revision....did I fail?
rsilvest posted a topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
About 4 years ago I made what I thought was going to be the best decision and had gastric bypass surgery. Everything went great! At the time I was about 260 and within the first year lost close to 90 pounds. I was feeling healthy, fit and excited about life. Slowly over the next couple years life got back in the way. I fell back into old habits, I was snacking all the time, eating things I shouldn't and before I knew it I was back to 220. I felt like a failure. I was given this opportunity to get healthy and blew it. I wasn't feeling full easily and was back on the diet yo-yo that I had done for most of my adult life. Last week I had an endoscopic gastric revision. They were able to add a few stitches to shrink my pouch and the opening from my stomach to intestine so that I feel full longer. I feel great again. Today I started eating some soft food, in small amounts and am down 15 pounds. I've been given a second chance but am still so worried that those old habits will come back. Now is the easy stage where you don't feel hungry and are so limited on what you can eat, but what do I do when I'm fully recovered. How do you keep the weight off? How do you stay motivated knowing there are certain things you should just really never eat again? Any advice on truly changing lifestyles is greatly appropriated!! -
August Sleevers-How are you doing??
lindabalseca replied to Ash_Bri85's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
i was sleeved 8/9 revision band to sleeve (not in one process) i am struggling to eat solid foods. they make me very uncomfortable. ive tried ground turkey/chicken, soft turkey medallions, i make sure i chew everything really well but its a no go. i feel like im stuck with pureeds and soft foods forever. (a little dramatic i know) even tuna is giving me a hard time and before it was fine. the nurse from my dr office suggested that i eat 2 oz at a time like every 2-3 hours. i tried solids and thats the deal breaker. my weight loss is slowwwwwww down to almost a halt. im so exhausted everyday no energy. its very defeating. -

I use a straw. It really helps me. I told my MD and he said as long as it doesn’t increase gas in stomach and cause pain it’s fine. Michelle Post op revision band to bypass 9-28-17 Sw 276 Day of surgery 252 Cw 248 Goal Healthy BMI 154. -

My first story moving on to a second story
knormlaver replied to Sunnyday25's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hi, I just had a mini gastric bypass revision last week. So far so good. I had my lap-band in for 10 yrs and kept about 55 of my 75lb loss off. But I never did get that sweet spot and my eating life was miserable all that time. It wasn’t until the band really started to malfunction (ie I could only barely tolerate fluids) that I said enough is enough and had it removed. Not surprisingly I gained back all of my weight in 10 mos despite eating right and exercising 5 days per week. I had to pay for both surgeries myself, but wish I’d done the bypass in the first place. I wish you well. -
Bypass vs Sleeve, trying to decide
OmaJ replied to gemstateljh's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
My physician recommended the Lapband revision with Gastric bypass in my case because I have GERD with bad reflux (I should say "had" because NO symptoms at all one month out from surgery now), and also to help reverse my Diabetes. I'm happy to say my fasting blood sugars are stable and with good numbers, and so far no need for the weekly Trulicity injections I was on before surgery. Best of luck in your decision. I trusted my Dr.s recommendations based on my health history. -

Actually I am a newbie on the site and even though I'm getting an rn.y I find you sleepers very interesting! I think I hang out here more than anywhere LOL! I am from Rio Rancho and dr. Tyner is going to do my surgery. I have to have a revision from having my stomach stapled in 1991. Should I trust him? LOL Sent from my SM-G930T using BariatricPal mobile app -

Currency/Tipping

YES they take AMERICAN DOLLARS!!! I was in Mexicali Mexico 9/12/17 - 9/16/17 for my band to sleeve revision with Mexicali Bariatric Center. I tipped my waiter ($5) & my driver($30) because he picked me up, took me to appointments, took me to hotel, then picked me up to take me to hospital & when all was done he drove me back to San Diego for my return trip home. Really that was all that "waited" on me. I'm not a needy type of person so I really didn't have to have anybody do anything for me! This was a VERY POSITIVE EXPERIENCE!! Went by myself & ALL was SAFE & Secure even while caring $7000.00 in cash!! -
I can't seem to get past the 3 week stall. [emoji20] I'm a month out from Lapband revision with Gastric bypass. At 3 weeks, when I went to the pureed stage, hit the stall. I've increased my walking, a bit frustrated and concerned. Any suggestions or insight welcomed! Thanks for the support!

The road to revision is littered with minor annoyances. My GP is a diet doctor that I made my GP so I could just pay my insurance co-pay for visits, but I gave up on prescription pills because nothing worked. My surgeon gave me a quick form for him to fill out, and first totally refused to fill out, then said he would take it and do it later. His office then mailed it to me instead of faxing it to the surgeon's office as directed, and he listed my BMI as 39.9. Did he just totally derail me for insurance coverage? I just input my info, and my BMI is coming out as 42. I'm so irritated right now!
