    NSV shout outs

I thought this may be silly but it's my first NSV... I was looking down at some cabling on the floor and then noticed my ankles... i have ankles now and not huge swollen ankles. They are so small and normal now.. . silly thing i know but for awhile they had been so puffy and swollen looking months before surgery. Also i can't remember when the last time i was excited to get on the scale and see what's happened in a week.. I get to weigh myself tomorrow yay!!

    New Body, New Challenges

Lisa ~ ditto! I like those NSV's TBB! My butt is so boney and my collar bones are showing. My weight loss is virtually at a stand still, but have just gotten into a size 8 Lee Skinny Jeans and a size 6 in slacks! Love it. I feel really good also.
  3. NSV is a Non Scale Victory, like the 3 sizes I've lost while the scale has been barely moving.
  4. YAY! Good for you. What a frustrating experience:) I know I'm going to feel silly when you answer this, but what is NSV?
  5. So, over the last three months, it's seemed like I was just stuck. I've barely lost 10 pounds, although I did drop 3 sizes. In that time, I've added in more and more exercise, really watched what I was eating and been pushing more Water. I've really looked hard for the NSVs and tried not to worry that my body was done. But, I was really getting frustrated because the weight loss had slowed down so much. I was so close to the 100 pounds lost mark and starting to think I'd never get there. In my head, I knew that this was a weight where I spent nearly 10 years on the way UP the scale and that I shouldn't get excited that it was taking me a while to drop below that point, but boy was it maddening! I'm happy to report that in the last few days, that stall has broken! I've lost 5 pounds in the last few days and it seems like my body and sleeve are cooperating again to drop more pounds! I'm also suddenly seeing more definition in areas that have been of particular interest to me (waist, collarbones, arms and legs). I don't know if my mindset changed, but I know that I have increased my exercise levels to where I'm doing nearly an hour of cardio per day, in 2 30 minute sessions, and I've been fairly strict on my carbs. So, YAY, the stall is broken!!! I'll take the NSVs, but it feels good to see that scale number dropping again, too.

    My First Nsv!

Ok so its really kinda funny, i was at my daughters softball game, and i was holding a bunch of stuff walking to my car when........... my underwear fell off inside my pants! ROTFL, you couldnt see that they sliped down, but i had a big grin on my face lol
  12. If some foods are a trigger and/or you overeat them.... BANISH THEM FROM YOUR CUPBOARD! You already know where you crossed the line and good for you for seeking support (the mark of a strong confident women ) so just stick to the plan. Protein, protein, protein first - as long as you stick to that mantra you prob wont be able to fit in a poptart. Congrats on your airplane NSV- thats a huge emotional one for most people. Rock them short-shorts this summer girl!
  13. I went on vacation and eat out all week and even though I couldn’t (Thank God) go overboard I did eat things that I would normally avoid, (ice cream, sausage, bread) and I eat to my maximum full felling every time. Now I’m home and all I can think about is food, I even went so far as to have a 2 slices of pizza and 1 ½ pop tarts one day!!! This is crazy stuff that I haven’t had since the surgery. I’m focusing on getting back into my post op strategy H20, Protein shake, planned meals but it’s hard…just posting this for moral support…Thanks everyone! PS I also had a NSV with the plane seat... I fit with plenty of room and no fear of spilling over to the seat next to me and I wore shorts which I haven’t done in decades!
  14. I so hope that this happens immediately. I'm having surgery in San Diego in June and I'm from Alaska and I'm a hot, sweaty mess in temperatures above 65. What a great NSV, thanks for sharing.
  15. Firstly....... You looked beautiful on your wedding day. Congrats on doing something you wanted to do after losing weight...... great NSV.

    NSV shout outs

Another NSV for me today! My "new" old bathing suit was falling off me last night at the pool, so I had to get one that wouldn't be x-rated for tonight's swim time. Went into the shop and the salesgirl (who happens to be a cousin) kept saying that the ones I was looking at were too big. To humor her, I picked up the size I thought I wanted and the size she thought would fit. She was right! I'm now, officially, in a 16, not a 16w, etc, but an honest to goodness 16! I am so excited. I was 23 the last time I could wear this size!!!

    Almost Here...

Had my 3 week postop yesterday and he said everything looks perfect! YAY He said I can pretty much have anything that dont require chewing 30 times to swallow, and to quit stressing so much about not being able to tolerate the Protein Drinks. Although he would like to see me @ 60-70g a day, he is more concerned that the majority of my nutrition come from Protein. I told him I was pretty much living off scrambled eggs, (2 a day) because I was pretty scared to try much else because Im terrified of a leak. He reassured me that the chances of that are very slim, to use good judgement and not to worry so much, that I had followed all the rules up till now so obviously I had it under control. He cleared me for a cup of coffee, and said I can have a diet coke in 2 more weeks. I asked him about carbonation stretching out the sleeve, and he said that is totally not true just to sip it slowly as it may make me gassy/burpy. He was very pleased about my 29 lb weight loss, and told me the stall I went through was totally normal, and sometime happen frequently so no stressing about it, just keep on keeping on, the weight will come off. His goal weight for me is 120, and I told him I was 130 when I graduated HS and was very slender. He said 130 is fine, but 120 will allow the 7-15lb bounceback around 3 years and still keep me in a normal BMI. All in all, a very good post op! Im going today to get me some shaved deli meat, sounds delish! NSV~~~went shopping yesterday for a few things for Hawaii, I didn't have to shop in the "womans" section, got things from the ladies section, I have went from a 18W to a loose 16 pants, and a XXL shirt to XL!!! WooHoooooooo!

    Nsv!

Yippie! I had to go shopping last night for new clothes for work, and was quite happy to see I am in a size 16 now! I started off as a 20 (probably should have been a 22, but I was in denial, lol), and while the scale hasn't moved as quickly as I would have liked, it is nice to have this happen. Made me feel really, really confident!

    Clothing

My feet didn't get smaller, just not so fat and swollen. So my feet aren't any shorter but my shoes swim on me now. I do love TJ Maxx and Ross. My personal motto is "Never pay full price for anything". I wish I had a Macy's close. I was quite excited finding a couple of tops on clearance at Kohl's. They are Vera Wangs. I have never been able to wear anything she made. Cool NSV.
  22. I'm in the same boat as BroadwayBaby. Little-to-no weight loss, but little-to-no effort or discipline on my part. It will come back. Life has been throwing me some awesome NSV's. I decided I had some decent enough pictures of me at this lower weight that I was willing to put some on match.com. I met an awesome guy about a week into that, and here we are, blissfully happy 2 months later. In the same time period, I managed to score an interview with an awesome company. Their interview process was long (five interviews!) but it all worked out in the end, and I start my new job on Monday!! I've been working a dead-end job for the last 4 years while I tried to figure out my next career path, so this is just a really awesome opportunity that I'm really excited about. Oh, and my pay will be doubling! I know these aren't directly related to the number on the scale, but neither one would have been possible 9 months ago. I needed the self-confidence and increased energy that came along with losing 50 pounds. I still have another 50 to lose, and I need to refocus on that, but I'm just so happy to have my life looking totally awesome right now.
  23. I am a good cook and as the self-appointed matriarch of the family have always loved to put on big family dinners. Some of my major concerns pre-surgery were that I might somehow develop an aversion to food or the smell of food, and that I might no longer like or want to keep up the family dinner traditions given that I would be limited in partaking thereof. Along comes Mother's Day, 8 weeks out... We traditionally have the first big cookout of the year on Mother's Day, with all the kids and grandkids in attendance. We prepared the traditonal list of grilled goodies, such as cheeseburgers, hot dogs, brats with all the fixins' such as chili sauce, kraut, corn on the cob, mac & cheese, baked Beans, and most glorious of all... two homemade New York cheesecakes with raspberry coulis!! So darn good!! The Victory is that I enjoyed cooking and serving just as much as I ever did. I ate a bite or two or most things (skipped the corn on the cob and the green salad, and left off the buns), including the cheesecake. It was a major relief to sail through the first event and still feel normal! Looks like Thanksgiving is still a go! No one commented on the small amount I ate, but they did notice the weight loss!
  24. I thought I would post a litlle about where I am at, 3 months after surgery. First off I still Love my band and have I do not have any regrets. My surgery date was February 16th, 2012. My starting weight was 232lbs. Since surgery I have lost 38lbs. WooHoo! It feels amazing and its starting to look amazing too! Along with that victory I have had those amazing Non scale victories that just make this whole process worth it. One of my NSV's was Shopping in the Juniors section and purchasing a size 13! (now they are loose 11 here I come ) As for my Lapband, I believe i have a 10cc LapBand, i am currently filled to 6cc. I have had two fills so far and have just experienced what restriction feels like. I am still getting used to what foods work for me and what do not. So far this seems to be a new process each fill. I feel that the Lap Band has been a success so far for me because I have changed my life style completely, I realize this is forever, I do not deprive myself like I am on one of my old hardcore diets. I eat healthy as a lifestyle now, not a 4 week diet. When I am craving something that is higher in calories than normal I will allow myself a bite if it is something my band will even allow and I stop there and move on with my life. My biggest motivator is knowing that these 38lbs are not coming back and that this is just the beginning! I know this website can be full of issues which we all run into at some point or another, but I just wanted to post my progress so far because nothing motivates me more than reading others stories and learning how they are living with the lap band.

No Longer Hot? Omg This Is Awesome!

Oh really? That would explain a lot. I'm always cold, which is something I prefer to always being hot and sweaty. When I was big, it was so embarassing when my pits and back would sweat like crazy. Especially when I was at school and wore a backpack. I had the clinical strength antipersperant and deoderant, and I'd put it not only on my pits, but inbetween my lovehandles on my back and under my boobs! I still couldn't do anything about my sweaty forehead or scalp (which made my hair look wet and greasy on especially hot and humid days). I can soooo relate to this NSV. I share your joy. This is one of the many pros to the VSG. I dreaded the summer (I live in a very humid area), but now I can be comfortable this year! Congrats, WhoozisAnyway.
