  1. I had surgery on 12/12/19 and I dropped 20lbs right away, then another 3 over the 3rd week. But I've been stalled for over a week and a half. I decided to stay consistent with my protein, meet my water goals and stay on top of my vitamins. After a couple days of this, I dropped 3lbs over night!! I know it's a small victory but after having surgery being stalled so long is worrisome. Anyone else go through this?
  2. Arent you like 10 weeks out now? How can you still be "mostly shakes"
  3. In the beginning at your stage I was eating about every 2-3 hours. I was legit hungry during that time cuz meals were so tiny and were more slidery in nature. Volume is king. Follow your doc's and RD's plan for your volume at this stage in recovery. Don't exceed it even if you want to! I never had issues with my liquids cuz I could drink a lot from the beginning. I do still try to leave 45 minutes-1 hour post meal for greater lasting satiety. Now at 22months I do IF of 14:10, 16:8 and 18:6. So all my food is in a 6-8 hour window. I do supplement with part of a protein shake in morning coffees (cuz I love it, not cuz I need it), so that takes the protein goal burden off my back and I can eat more veggies. I eat 2-5 meals during this time frame. Sometimes 6! And on days without IF, I still eat the same # of meals.

Best decision ever!! Surgery was a breeze, my pain was managed with only Tylenol once I got home and that was only the first couple of days. I went back to work a week later. I look and feel great!! Total life changing experience. 5'4" Starting weight 297 VSG on 7/31/19 Surgery wt: 266 CW 205 GW 135 Sent from my [samsung Galaxy] using BariatricPal mobile app
  5. Hey Everyone! I am struggling to get my water ( lucky if I drink 750mls a day) and protein in because of timings. How long do you leave between your meals? I am trying to leave at least 10 minutes after drinking fluids before eating and at least 30 minutes after eating before drinking fluids again. But I am unsure when I can eat again? Also I feel like I am tolerating too much food. I am tolerating about 300grams. I am technically 5 weeks out although I was originally sleeved in 23 August 2019 then revised to bypass 5 weeks ago. Thank you in advance to anyone who offers their advice and guidance. X
  6. Good morning, I'm new to the forum and so far have just read the messages, rather than jump in and post. I started my journey for surgery on 12/26/19 through the local Veteran's Affairs clinic. My primary care provider had experience by prescribing Saxenda to patients and I was quickly approved for it. Today was day 3 of the prescription and I am still at the smallest dose of .6 mg on my way in 4 weeks to the full 3 mg dose. In the VA, you have to be in the move program for at least 3 months and then the primary care team (along with the nutritionists) present your case to the bariatric surgery team. I am scheduled to have my case presented on April 3rd and hoping for surgery in the next 30 days following. In the interim, I am on Saxenda (injection med) to help facilitate the weight loss process as they have stated many times that the more weight you lsoe pre-surgery, the better chances for success. I started the process (I am 6 feet tall) at 351 lbs and weigh in daily through my VA assigned scale. Today I am at 337 lbs, which means -14 lbs since 12/26. Ultimately, the process is working and I am excited to get through 2020 with a successful surgery and lifestyle change! New Jason in 2020 & 2021!!!
  7. I met with the dr. on 12/26/19 and I have already received clearance from my primary dr. to have the gastric sleeve. I am currently making all of the necessary appointments my insurance and my surgeon requires. If all goes as planned, April 2020 is the goal for the surgery. I am nervous and excited, as I'm sure everyone was. I know this is going to be a huge change and an even bigger commitment, but I am ready to be able to run around, play laser tag, go zip lining and just me a million times more active with my children. I appreciate all the positive and encouraging feedback. Everyone here seems to be amazing and I look forward to being more involved in this wonderful community!!

  9. I am with Catwoman7 on a food and exercise logs. Two years before my surgery My daughter asked what I wanted for Christmas and I told her a Fitbit. It is the best gift she ever gave me. I started logging my food and exercise faithfully. As a result in the two years before my surgery, I lost 35 pounds. Not meteoric but slow and steady. I had my surgery on 8/21/19 and continued to use my Fitbit app faithfully and have lost an additional 68 pounds. The pounds come off much more slowly and I had a nearly two week stall and was terrified that 101 pounds was all I was going to lose but by now (3 years) exercise is just a routine and concentrate on when I start to feel full. I used to have a terrible habit of drinking Coca Cola but thank goodness I have lost all taste for it. One night I took a sip of my hubby’s and nearly gagged because it was so sweet. Psychologically I am using the same mindset I used to quit smoking that what I do is for my health.

    Cold 🥶 Feet 😬

🙂hi. No worries. I'm so happy to be speaking to people about this as I've never done it before and always kept it to myself. But its nice to share how I'm feeling and listening to how other people feel too. My surgery is booked for 6th April. Didnt you say yours is 7th? How does it work in the USA? Like, I'm able to get mine done on the NHS, which is free and luckily i dont have to pay, if I did, then it could cost me £10-£15k which is ridiculous, especially if someone wants to better their lives. We get it free in the uk as the cost of the op in beneficial and outweighs the costs when older and overweight etc... I wish I had the same meal plan as you, mine has put me on a liquid diet to shrink my liver for a whole 2 weeks before. He basically said I need to live off water milk and yogurt for the 2 weeks previously tho. Fingers crosses for you, I dont think your boyfriend recognises how hard it is trying to lose the weight and keep it off. For some people it's impossible x
  11. I have taken miralax off and on for about 10 years now. It works by drawing water to the stool. I would be much more concerned about the lack of a bowel movement than I would be taking Miralax. everyone is different though.

    Common Cold and medications?

Just finished prednisone (my old enemy) and prescription nose spray. I am getting better, but I also gained 5lbs. Super pissed but before GBP on October 2, 2019, I was on it a lot and gained 15-20 lbs after 5-7 days of it each time.
  13. I saw my pcp yesterday, and told him my BP was hovering around 95/55 and he took me off all Losartin. I was on 100 per day. I am supposed to track it over the next week. He also called for complete blood workup to check vitamins, etc.. I've also been on BP Meds for 8-10 years.
  14. I have been on Lisinopril hctz 20/25 for around 8 years. I got up from my recliner and went around 10 steps, I saw black and passed out cold. My wife said I was out around 45 seconds to a minute. I got up, I luckily landed on my back, my head hurts pretty bad from smacking the laminate flooring. I will stay up for at least 5 hrs tonight to make sure I'm alright. Wife insist that I stay up. I checked my blood pressure after sitting in the kitchen island stool. Was 72 over 68. Never even been under 100 on the lower side. I haven't taken my blood pressure medication yet, so I removed all of them for every night in my pill organizer. So I'll call my primary care physician tomorrow morning and let him know what happened. Damn my head and right shoulder feels like they are going to bruise. Be careful getting up y'all. I looked online and it seems that it could take up to 3 days to get the blood pressure medication out of my system.

    Pilates

I started Pilates 6 months prior to my surgery (Sleeved August 2019) and it has really helped decrease my back pain and strengthen my core! I love it! It’s great that it’s low impact but still so tough and such a muscle builder. Indirectly I think it has helped me with weight loss since improving my core strength and decreasing my back pain allows me to work out harder without aggravating the pain. I run, hike, and cross country ski again, which I wasn’t able to do this time last year. I only do Pilates once a week right now, and my trainer recommends at least twice a week for better results, but there is only so much time (and money).........
  16. I was January 6th, and still only liquids until the 20th. I actually haven't been able to get much of anything protein wise down. I'm barely hitting 6-10 protein a day... I'm hoping once I start eating food, it'll be easier. I'm just tired of the shakes and my body is, too. (I already talked to my doctor- I'm still trying every day, I just can't keep it down... probably just too sweet, honestly, and I'm sick and tired of it lol)

    Food ideas?

I was sleeved 1/7/19 and I am SICK of broth. What did everyone eat at this point? Help!

    Cold 🥶 Feet 😬

The liquid diet two weeks before surgery was worse than the pain! To me, that was the “worse” part of the VGS surgery. My weight has been falling off since. I am 5 pant sizes down now. 375 before, 319 now. My surgery was 12/31/19.
  19. it's due to all the IV fluids. I've heard of people gaining up to 10 lbs from them. They should be mostly (if not all) gone by the end of the first week, so your weight will start heading down.
  20. My surgery date was Dec 19th, 2019. Things are moving in the right direction -

    January 2020 Surgery Date

I didn’t end up throwing up thankfully. They gave me medication for the nausea that helped a lot. I don’t have a lot of pain. Just a bit of pressure. I would say pain is maybe a 3-10
  22. I'm so excited to find this thread! Started IF 1st January 2019... Doing 18/6 and 1200 calorie restriction preferably high protein low ish carb for endomorph macros. Feeling great. Pouch resetting Weight starting to come off! Just got to stay away from the 🌲🌲🌲 during or near my fasting times or it all goes to 'pot' 😆 Tho has anyone else experienced stomach pains doing this?
  23. This was cool for me. This surgery for me, wasnt just about losing the weight, but also about getting the body i always wanted. Im far from being there but im really starting to see results. I finally have shoulders and arms! I started crossfit 10 days after surgery. Mixed with running this is what ive stuck to and the results are really starting to show. Im 222 now but im also building muscle and still cutting the weight. I always do monthly progress pics and i decided to flex a little. I was shocked myself. I even had the two top abs. I couldnt believe it. I always wanted definition and its really starting to show, Im glad i could do this, while still cutting the weight. Cant wait to see what i look like at 199.
  24. I was sleeved 2/20/2019. Nearing the one year mark! Obviously the weight loss has slowed down but I'm curious if anyone is still losing this far out? I started at 273 on the day of surgery and have gotten down to 181 but have been here for a couple months.

    OOTD

This was my fave part about my reduction 10 years ago. Instead of my droopy water balloons, I got perky (albeit much smaller) girls who defied gravity. Now with >115 pounds gone since that time, they’ve all but disappeared, but at least I don’t have all of the loose skin
