    Hello :)

I am not a surgeon but that seems like a lot to me. I have a 32F and at 5 weeks I can hold 2 - 3 oz. 2 oz for me is the rule but some real soft foods I can hold 3 oz (like pudding or yogurt). Maybe you should talk to him about a smaller size? Ask what size he is using and why. It is your body, you have a right to ask. I seem to remember that it is difficult to revise again once you have been sleeved because the staples can't be found after healing has taken place. Seriously, this might be your only chance. Be cautious even if it means a delay in surgery. Just my humble opinion.

    March 2010 Sleevers

Yeah I got the idea from eggface. I made it with 2 scoops protein and brown cow greek yogurt and a little water and sugar free syrup. It still doesn't taste like Ben and Jerry's but it was a super nice change. The texture is really yummy, and it was my full days protein, which I am having a really hard time getting on mushies.
  3. I agree with what Jack said!! I also wanted to let you know, that they do often schedule you monthly for fills in the beginning, very few have ever needed 12 fills---in fact I have never heard of it!!! They work them every 4 weeks so you can achieve restriction, and maintain it. You do NOT have to have the fill!!! If you are eating properly---slowly, small, well chewed bites---and you fill up quickly, and do not find yourself hungry again for several hours, you do not need a fill. In fact it sounds as though you may still be suffering from being slightly overfilled. Another possibility is that you are dealing with residual swelling caused by the "barfing" it up. I was told anytime something passed painfully or I PB'd (barfed it up) to go to liquids for minimally several hours to allow the stomach to calm down again. It is an evil cycle if it gets started. I would suggest you do just as Jack said, and try treating it as first bite syndrome. Drink something warm in the morning before trying to eat the bulky cereal. Also there are no rules set in stone that you must eat the cereal early in the day! Have a container of yogurt for breakfast, and save the cereal for lunch when you seem to be more open..... And some meds will irritate the band, and cause some swelling, so you might just have to experiment around and see if doing things in a different pattern will help! Good Luck!!! Isn't it nice to have the warm nights rather than the snow, I thought winter would never end!!!! Kat

    Post op sucks!

The pain is still there so my surgeon started me on protonix daily to see if it would help. He assured me it was just because I had all three surgeries at once. I have found that yogurt and popsicles feel decent and creamed Soup (ie: tomato).. although I can only take a couple bites of each at most. My staples are driving me crazy today. I have 24 on varies areas of my belly/sides and they are itching like CRAZY! Of course it hurts to touch them, so I endure it and keep thinking ... This too shall pass. Hope everyone else is doing well! MERRY CHRISTMAS!!
  5. I don't know if you are a costco member or have a trader joes nearby.... but if you search for either of those you will find threads started by me where people put in "favorite finds" from those places. I like to cook but am often time challenged, so I love healthy - nearly ready to eat food. There are some who eat lean cuisine type dinners but I can't bring myself to do it. I feel like I eat so little - I want it to be stuff I love or at least like! I bet others will post some easy peasy stuff but here are just a few things: -greek yogurt -all natural sandwich meat with cheese, ideally wrapped around a dill pickle -low carb/low calorie/healthy sausages - there are several varieties I really like and can just heat and eat -I buy salmon patties (from Costco, but you can get them elsewhere) I grill em and put them on top of a yummy bed of salad greens. I use olive oil and white balsamic vinegar for dressing and it is really really good! -Do you like seafood - lots of places have ready to eat shrimp... yum -egg beaters and baby turkey sausages are a regular Breakfast for me - lots of Protein and very low cal/low carb -any kind of sandwich, but instead of bread, use a lettuce and make a wrap! -grocery stores often have premade things that are quite nice. It is expensive, but since 1 serving is probably 3 meals, it suddenly becomes more economical! -tuna in a pouch can be good over salad or as a main ingredient in one of those lettuce wraps Come on people - I know there are lots of other amazing ideas out there!

    Help plz

I had the same problem....I switches to Soups and cottage cheese which has twice the amount of Protein that yogurt has per serving. Soft cheese and pureed Beans... If I absolutely had to I would still drink a Protein Drink...But measured that out 1/3 at a time ......pudding is good too, not a good habit but will get you through in a pinch!

    Sliders

Protein bars are a huge slider for me. And it sucks, cause I love them. Had to put a hard limit on protein bars of three a week...cause sometimes I'm not that interested in cooking or assembling something healthy and it's just too easy to pick the delicious double chocolate answer. (and then pick it again a few hours later). I know that if I eat food with texture, I'll stay fuller longer. Want to get fiber, work on staying off supplements and crap, eat real food..... Need to keep up good habits...so I limit protein bars now. (Still keep one in my purse always) Oatmeal is a slider for me unless I make it pretty stiff, do steel cut oats, and put cherries and pecans in it. If I do my delux super oatmeal...it doesn't slide so much:) Same with refried beans...if I add the cheese and salsa and avocado and junk...I stay full. By themselves, they slide a little...but not as bad as other things. Yogurt with fruit, nuts and whole grain granola...same. Lot of soups slide...which stinks, because I love soup. My veggie soup doesn't slide so much. Split pea and bean soups are pretty decent to keep you full, too. Nuts are delicious and naughty. I love them and I eat them daily, but portion control sucks with nuts. SO densely caloric! I measure nuts in Tablespoons. And those suckers slide like crazy by themselves.
  8. I am also scheduled for November 12th. I have days of overwhelming fear and other days of just wanting to get it done and start a new life. I have been even more emotional since starting the 2 week pre op diet 6 days ago. Three shakes a day (can only stand the Premier Protein chocolate and strawberry Creme) and broth, sf pudding, sf Jello, greek yogurt without chucks (which I cant stand, makes my stomach turn) and sf popsicles. Good luck to all of you!
  9. Greek yogurt with some sf pudding mixed in.

    Sliders

What are your sliders? Mine are yogurt, nuts and protein bars. Eventually I will feel restriction but I've consumed so many calories by that point it's like sabotage (never tried this, decided to be cautious when I saw the calorie count and my tolerance )
  11. I’m now 6 days post op and since my last post, I’m still doing fine though I’m nervous about the number of protein shakes I need to have beginning tomorrow. I’m only having 1 per day right now and while I’m getting through it ok, I’m not looking forward to having more throughout the days ahead. I’m thinking I’ll sub in the Greek yogurt that’s on the approved list. I’m surprised I’m not really hungry, but I have waves. I’ve been able to prepare things for my kids. I did order them a pizza on Thursday while my husband was golfing. I really wanted a taste, but that was all. (And no, I didn’t follow through with it!) I also went to work for a few hours on Thursday and that went well though I was tired. My husband I went to Costco this AM and it was good. He got a smoothie at the food court and I had a small sip - wish I could have had a taste of pizza. Apparently pizza is my weakness! [emoji23]

Please list an average days food

I'm a "routine" eater. I find something and I just stick with it until I'm tired of it. My routine breakfast is 1 or 2 eggs scrambled. If I'm not very hungry, it's one. If I wake up with hunger, it's two. A hour later I have my milk+coffee which is basically more milk than coffee. My lunch lately is lettuce or chopped raw cabbage over which I throw diced ham or chicken, or some flaked tuna. A bit later I'll eat a yogurt or a piece of fruit. My snack can be another milky coffee or some hummus with carrots or whole grain crackers. dinner is always Protein like a piece of salmon or cod, or chicken (I eat a lot of chicken) or if I sense my band is open, some hamburger. More veg, either in the form of a small salad or roasted root vegetable. About an hour later I'll have either another fruit or some plain yogurt mixed with muesli. My eating protocol is "small, fractionned meals" spread out over six times/day. They are more like Snacks than meals. This is my surgeon's protocol. It's not an easy one to comply with 100% of the time (when traveling, for example) but I follow it for the most part. It really keeps any head hunger dormant (until I see an ad on TV or other...then I look away!)
  13. Hi ALL, I was band on December 5 and I Love My Band. This is my 3rd fill and just found out that I only have a 4cc Band. Jenn1984 how did you lose so much weight. I started out 325lbs and as of today Im 298lbs. Just feel like Im at my sweet spot, going to try and eat some yogurt this morning and see how I be feeling.
  14. I'll find out more tomorrow when Amazon's drone delivers it, but here is the most interesting thing I could find on the product on the web...It arrived last week, and it is flavorless. Mixes well with yogurt, half a scoop dissolves nicely in my coffee. Finally able to boost my protein levels to where they need to be. My hair is not falling out like it was. So I'm sticking with this stuff. I was poking around on the web about this and found this on one of the body building boards: LARGEbagFrontWEB.jpgHey there guys. I am the Doctor/Genetic Bio-Scientist that invented GENEPRO and am the owner of Musclegen Research. Serving size is 1 Tablespoon = 30g of Protein.. Here is a little about the product and the difference between Genepro and any other protein on the market. We are working with bodybuilding.com to carry Genepro as well as out other products.. What makes Genepro so unique is that we are able to reduce the protein molecule to half the size of normal protein through a process called Electrophoresis. This is a reverse electrical polarity method of extracting pure protein. In essence we take protein molecules that, for reference, are the size of a baseball. We push these baseball sized protein molecules through a Polyacrylamide gel (the gel stays below 87 degrees F) and introduce electricity through the gel. This process removes hydrogen ions, allergens and any fillers or binders so we are able to then bind the protein with a strand of six amino acids called a Hexapeptide which stabilizes the molecular structure. This hexapeptide increases shelf life of the protein as well as balancing the bitter taste that is present with the protein after electrophoresis and actually gives the protein a slightly sweet undertone. The protein is pushed through a filtration system and into a centrifuge which results in a pure protein molecule that is now the size of a golf ball (for reference). You may not be able to fit 30 baseballs into a shoe box but you can fit 30 golf balls. Thus giving us the ability to get 30grams of protein in a 1TBS serving size. This process also changes the caloritic count as well to 3.2 calories per gram of protein. The process as well at the hexapeptide are patent pending and have never been used before in nutrition (it's a genetic process that is used primarily in forensic science). The other interesting fact is that most protein supplements digest in the lower GI and whey is absorbed at only 31% so if you're "taking" 30g of whey, your body is only taking in 9g. Genepro is digested in the upper GI which eliminates gluten, lactose and bowel sensitivity and absorbs at a rate of 94% which makes it 3 times more effective than any other protein on the planet (medical or open market). Flavorless and odorless and can be mixed instantly in any food or beverage (hot or cold) without changing the taste or consistency. Truly the most complex and advanced protein on the planet. Each 1pound container comes with 3 empty, re-useable travel pouches that make it super convenient to use anytime, anywhere and in anything.

Banding on May 21st 2009. Who else?

I got my bandages off yesterday, My stomach looks like it was in a bar fight! 14lbs down, just really bloated today for some reason. Enjoyed yogurt this morning, and apple sauce for lunch..... I'm kind of queezy, but I'm alright, had the hiccups before, that was a little painful and scary, and has anyone else noticed how painful it is when you yawn???

    Yogurt, Frozen Or Not

There is technically no "no-no" or forbidden food. The only thing banded people aren't supposed to have is carbonation. As for stuff like frozen yogurt, the key is moderation. I have had since being banded, however it's been a small serving and still fit into my daily caloric allowance. Plus, it's a rare treat, not a daily or even weekly occurrence.

    protein

You would have to take sooo many of them to get up to any appreciable level...I think it would be a lot worse than just adding some protein powder to your food (have you tried it in Greek yogurt?) or drinking a shake (I like Premiere protein, 30 g of protein and 160 cals mixed with coffee over ice; I actually look forward to it).
  18. Hello every1! Just want to share that today I went to see my surgeon an everything is GREAT! In 9days I had lost 11lbs, he ordered me to star on the Phase II diet which is PURE FOOD! So today I went grocery shopping and bought cottage cheese, sweet potato, eggs, yogurt, oatmeal and more Popsicles to add to this new phase diet. I'm very excited b/c everything is going so well, haven't vomit at all, no nauseas I meant I think I been lucky or my body loves this surgery. I tried cottage cheese for the 1st time in my life and geezzz I never knew it taste that good lol. I hope to hear from all of you, and I hope everyone is doing great as well! Regards, Yodelania
  19. Well how I eat now is WAY different than at 8 weeks. Back then I still got stuffed on a couple tablespoons of food, so I was shooting for as much Protein as I could in every bite. I didn't feel "normal" until 4 months out. That's when I could eat a little more, started mixing in more veggies and fruit, and didn't have to struggle each day just to meet goals. At 6 months I could eat a small plate of whatever everyone else was eating ....heavy on the protein dishes, less of the carbs. At 10 months my restriction loosened even more and I found I could eat more and still maintain. Thats pretty much where I still am. Yesterday was a weekend so I did a lot of snacking. Here's what I had..... 1 egg omelet with cheese and sausage; 2 16oz cups of decaf coffee with 1/2 and 1/2. leftover Chinese BBQ pork, raw cauliflower, broccoli and carrots dipped in spinach dip, peanuts, blueberries, plain Greek yogurt flavored with vanilla Protein powder and flax seed added for Fiber, a slice of braunschweiger, 12oz can of V8 juice, elk sausage with a couple bagel crisps, 32oz Water, white chocolate raspberry Quest bar, cottage cheese and fresh peaches. I know it sounds like a lot, but the portions were small and that's typically how I eat on the weekends if I'm home. But in general I eat whatever I want whenever I'm hungry. On work days I don't get a lunch break but I always have a large protein smoothie and a quest bar at some point in the day so I'm free to eat veggies, fruit and grains at mealtimes, rather than just protein.
  20. Keep in mind I'm 15 weeks out tomorrow! Some days are great others are terrible, I want to eat my arm or my husbands, but then I eat something hearty like soft beef or a mini red potato dressed up and feel better, followed by fruit, Propel and Water... All serving sizes unless Soup are typically 2-4oz in either volume or weight. What I ate today: Two egg white bites Apple slices with peabut butter and a date Sushi Rice 1 Peanut Butter cookie Non-fat greek yogurt, made locally, with a sliced banana and mashed strawberry sauce & granola What I ate yesterday: 2 egg white bites - 13g carbs 13gr Protein 170cals 3oz split pea soup (was still full from egg white bites) 1/2 pc pizza (no end crust) 2oz yogurt with granola, half a small organic banana 1 baby potato chopped and mixed with avocado hummus, seasoned rice vinegar and seasonings What I ate two days ago: Thai Cashew Slaw ( I LOVE IT) cheese wedge and almonds More Thai Cashew Slaw (no mayo) Pot salad - 1 baby red potato cooked and chopped, with 1 egg, 1/2 of an avocado, cilantro, herbs, green onion other seasoning. Mashed avocado with herbs and other seasonings to make a dressing Raspberries KEEP ON KEEPING ON! <3 Shana
  21. I had RNY on 4/4/17. I lost 26.6 lbs in like 2 1/2 weeks. This week I started on soft foods and gained 5lbs. I am super nervous. I know I shouldn't pay attention to the scale so I weigh myself once a week. My question is, is this normal? I drink at least 1 premier a day, been doing at least 48 oz of water but more when I can fit it in. I eat yogurt for a morning snack and eat 1 meal. Am I doing something wrong? I guess I figured my weight would just instantly drop off weekly.

Do protein bars keep you full?

They don't keep me satisfied at all. I would rather eat real food. I'll have an apple and a string cheese or nonfat greek yogurt and strawberries and they help me stay fuller longer. Sometimes there are days where you just have to grab something and go, so at least a protein bar is getting you what you need, but you will probably get hungry quickly.
  23. I try to focus my meals around protein. For breakfast I'll make a veggie omelate with egg whites for extra protein and less fat and calories. Lunch and dinner I'll have a turkey burger with grilled onion on it and some veggies, or turkey chili with beans which provides fiber and protein, or chicken or fish with veggies. I'm not ready for raw fruits and veggies as per my nutritionist but I would eat grilled chicken salads. Since I have no fill yet I snack on yogurt which also has protein. I do eat carbs like whole wheat toast once in awhile but try to limit that. I do supplement with isopure ready to drink, half a bottle gives me an extra 20g of protein a day.

How did you do for Holiday Eating?

well here is what i had 3 weeks out today: no breakfast really-1/2 cont. yogurt with fruit for lunch: 2 oz turkey, 1 table squash cass, 1 table green Beans, 1 table homemade cornbread dressing-my moms! so good, 1 table butter beans, 1 table pea salad, 1 table copperpennies. couldn't finish all of this but did have it on my plate. ate all of the turkey and dressing. have beat myself up over this. but like someone else said compared to what i have eaten of all the christmas dinners past this is remarkable!! we have gone from plate fulls to little bird portions. for supper: a 1 egg veggie omelet and only are half. also had sf chocolate pudding with sf cool whip on it. that tasted so good. also a few bites of cornbread dressing again. that stuff goes down so good. wish i could find something with low carbs like that! it is mushy is why. but i know it is loaded with carbs cause of cornbread!!
  25. I went for my post op at about 9 days, although the handout they gave said week two: yogurt, shakes, string cheese, cottage cheese, refried Beans, eggs. Week three: ground meats, tuna, moist fish, broiled or baked fish or chicken, lunch meat. Week four: soft cooked veggies, cheese, fruits. I don't feel issues when I eat, I just have been stopping at about a quarter a cup or when I feel (full). I also have read other people mention that when they burp they stop, and I have been following that. I honestly feel I could eat anything right now, but I am keeping everything very soft and moist and plan on continuing that for a couple more weeks to make sure everything is healed.
