    Back In My Own Bed!

I know the NSV's of the airplane. It is a good feeling to be on a smaller commercial flight and not feel obliged and to discretely tell a stewardess that I will not be offended if they want to set me next to a child or really petite person. Your Mom must have been so proud. Try and remember how she looked when she saw you, and do everything you can to take pictures with her as you continue to loose. Good luck.

    12 Weeks Out With Pics

Thanks everyone!!! One great NSV is sitting here at the Sox game and my butt fits in the seat The "small" things in our new life we love!!!
  5. Hi everyone! I've posted a couple times over the past few weeks, but have been reading posts on this site since july when I first began thinking about pursuing this surgery. I just want to thank you all for sharing your experiences here. I already feel I've learned a great deal from all the helpful posts here. With that being said, I finally have a couple of questions of my own to ask. 1). Does your pouch or your remainder stomach growl anymore after the surgery? The reason I ask is that I have a stomach legendary for it's growls. I teach English at anuniversity near Cleveland and students are amazed at how they can hear my stomach sometimes all the way in the back of the room. What a wonderful NSV that would be if that could go away lol. 2). I'm sure others have asked this before, but how much actual hunger have any of you experienced in the days/weeks/months following surgery? I've heard so many different answers to this, and I'd be interested in hearing yours as well. Thanks again! 😊
  6. I am 3 weeks post op today and while I was in the shower this morning I had no problem washing my back side as I once did 3 weeks ago. I have never shared this with any other soul and I must say I feel wonderful. Even though I dnt see any loss I feel a little different. Sorry if this was to much info I needed to share

    Giving Lb The Bad News...

now that is great. See it is the little things that bring us such great pleasure. Just one more NSV that you will get to do. Funny how they nearly beg for your business.
  9. I had my six week follow up with my primary care physician today. I like it when the nurse walks in and tells me I need a new picture for their file. I don't look like the original they took a year ago. The doctor was happy with my current weight loss. So that was the good news... ...Little did he know that I am at the same weight I was two weeks out of surgery. I didn't handle the Christmas holiday very well at all. I've tried to refocus this past week but am not having much luck. I feel like I could eat everything and anything, and sometimes catch myself doing just that. I've tried asking myself why I'm eating just to give myself a chance to put whatever I have down. That worked well for a while. Now I am eating because I can. I feel hungry a lot more often and there isn't any restriction to help. I don't go in for a fill until January 4th and it feels so far away. Somehow, I have to get through the weekend without completely losing it. I told myself I would be the same weight, if not less, on January 4th that I was at my two week checkup. As of this very moment, I'm losing that wage with myself. Instead of being down, I'm actually up two pounds. It makes me want to cry. I thought I could be stronger during this four week stretch. So while I love the reaction of the doctor and the nurse, I'm not happy with how I'm feeling right now. I don't want to be hungry anymore. I want to be able to eat a few bites of something and walk away from the table, not belly up for more.
  10. So ..I had posted recently that I was able to wear my wedding band and engagement ring again. Well I also had a mother's ring I couldn't wear my hubby designed and commissioned a man named David to make for me. This ring is very special to me because 1) my hubby loving designed the infinity design and had all of our birthstones placed within the infinity symbol, and 2) David was dying with colon cancer and this was one of the last rings he commissioned to make. When I got it to my surprise, my birth stone was not the right one, but David had a turn for the worse and I didn't have the heart to take it back..David passed a couple of days later. So for a long time ..I was sadden because one it would honor my husband and family to wear it and it would honor David since it was one of the last pieces his hands made, nut my jands had become too large to cpmfortably amd safely wear. To my great surprise, my ring fits on my right middle finger now instead of my right ring finger! I will not have it resized. I plan on wearing it and reminiscing about how this beautiful gesture came to be. I will just keep on switching fingers until I run out! Then..I may wear it around my neck! I am glad I loved myself enough to get my sleeve. My life is much better for it!

    April Avengers - NSV!

NSV's Galore! I am excited again...boy do I like this feeling. Good feelings instead of depressed. Happy to go into the "stash of clothes that are probably out of style but I really don't give a damn because they fit"! I was able to get into a pair of 16W jeans I haven't worn in 3+ years this past weekend...and I didn't have to lay down to zip them up. Woot! Carol - I cannot wait to be able to cross my legs - I'm looking forward to that one! Congrats!
  15. I have no experience with revision, but a lot of people on here do. All I can say is be kind to yourself and let yourself heal! You aren’t even a month out yet. Look for NSV’s, stick to your plan and what has worked for you so far. I’m sure others with more experience will be able to offer you some practical advice. Hang in there… you can do this.

    What is your greatest NSV?

This isn't my greatest NSV.. but my most recent. Over the weekend my daughter and I were looking at pictures of a wedding that we were both in back in 2005 (maid of honor and flowergirl).. and I was over 300 lbs. My daughter was almost 4 in the pictures and she's almost 10 now.. so she doesn't remember me being that big. She asked a couple questions about it and said she thought I was pretty then.. but thinks I look so much better now. It was really sweet.

    another sex question

My program asks us to hold off for 6 weeks... Glad you're not in THAT program, I'll bet! Likely whatever is comfortable will be fine. NSV is "non-scale victory', like fitting (again) into favorite jeans...

    Your favorite nsv's?

My favorite NSV's so far have been: Not having to buy "plus size" clothing anymore Trying on clothes and thinking "hey I look cute" instead of "I look like a fat cow" Being able to sit wherever I want without worrying if I'll break the chair Being able to sit in booths at restaurants (I didn't fit in them before) Seeing my collar bone and feeling my ribs for the first time in my adult life Going on rides at the carnival for the first time in almost 20 years Being able to do things with my kids, like go to the zoo or even a long walk Being told I look a lot younger now

    Your favorite nsv's?

I'm enjoying being able to sit on the floor with my legs folded and easily get up I'm enjoying all the "hey skinny" comments even though I still have a long way to go before I'm truly skinny Can't wait to cross my legs comfortably I'm loving trying on clothes I couldn't fit before I can see my collar bone! My husbands glances The proud looks from my parents The inspiration I have been to others The envy I've experienced from some Giving my larger sized clothes to others I'm beginning to enjoy running! In addition to the numbers going down on the scale, I'm enjoying this journey, and all of the NSVs that come along with it! :-)

    Your favorite nsv's?

Great topic! Some of my favorite NSV's are: I can cross my legs; I can shop for clothes in regular size departments/stores; I don't have to use the handicapped stall in public restrooms; there's plenty of room in airplane and theater seats now; I can sit on the floor and get up again without needing a crane to lift me; I wore a bathing suit in public while on vacation; I bought my first short skirt in 30 years and even wear it in public; people I tell about my weight loss say, "I never would have guessed you were ever that big."

    Your favorite nsv's?

Just posted on another thread about being depressed and then I found this! Every reply made me cry. This is what I should be focusing on not my yucky food. I want all these NSV's and more. Especially want to be more active.

Ruby, I understand how tough this can be, but I am proud of you for having your first NSV and not turning to food. Please know that we appreciate what your husband and your entire family are doing for us and we are all here for you when you need us.

    Way off track

So it has been forever since I have been on here, and its very much my own fault, but I've also been very embarassed to post. I have barely lost anything and still fighting with the dreded 4 lbs. And I see people are having tummy tucks already, It's so discouraging (being honest here) I started excercising more, I even bought some free weights and the Jillian Michaels 30 day shred, and that actually shifted 2 lbs. I've had a couple of NSV's a major one being returning 2 pairs of pants because they were huge on me, and buying tops in a size medium (which are big on me). I go throught this inches vs lbs thing alot and it seems to happen more often then not. I'm just trying to figure out what it is I'm doing wrong. I was off to a great start and it has come to a screeching hault. In other good news, I NY hospital for Joint disease finally accepts my insurance, so I'm going to see a Hip specialist on friday (8/20) and maybe they can give me more insight on ways to be comfortably active, or maybe even just fix my hip once and for all. I hope everyone is doing fantastic and keep up the awesome work!!!
