    Tango Nightmare!

    From the album: Just Me

This is the "only" picture of my backside in years and has driven me to WLS. My friend, Cami, is a Tango teacher and I look like a Yeti compared to her..and she isn't skinny. Course I AM 5 10', but that much weight is killing my knee and stopped my Tango classes in their tracks (the knee, not the weight).

    I have questions please help!

B12 is vital to your health. Google it for more information. Talk to your doctor about starting ASAP. Your weight loss is great, however. Keep it up!
  3. Hi, My name is Mel. I'm 54 and I am 65 pounds over weight. My BMI is 35.4. I have tried dieting and always gain the weight back plus more. I enjoy exercising and work out 3-4 times per week. I'm interested in learning what it's like to go thru the experience of adjusting to a lap band. I'd love to hear from you.

    Hola

Hola, If you are down from 245 to 200 right after surgery that is very fast weight loss. Was that with your preop diet?

    Reallly?

Wowsers ! Im not sure what to start with ! Well, for starters, welcome to the other side ! I was banded Dec, 2011 and have had nothing but positive results. The band literaly gave me back my old life of being healthy, happy and close to a normal weight. You might want to see a Nutritionish ASAP ! He/she will help you deal with your emotional eating. As far as liquids, try different flavors, brands etc to see what appeals to you and makes you happy and full. (I admit I cheated once on the liquid phase too, a small spoonful of tuna with mayo. Yum!)
  6. Your protein sounds great. My goal is 80. I'm only 3 weeks post op and at about 650 calories a day. Have you been gaining muscle? And are you eating a lot of high fat foods? those might contribute to the weight gain
  7. Im at 158 for two weeks now. Gain one poind loose one pound... Im 6 weeks out from my surgery..
  8. I'm 183 and I've been in the 180s for over 1 month and a half. How long did it take you to get into the170s? or how long have you been in the 180s? I don't know if my weight loss has just completely slowed down or if this is just a hard number to break!
  9. I am a RN in a hospital and I have to say losing weight has given me more energy for my 12 hours shifts. I feel better about myself and am way more positive. I also love that I don't obsess about food anymore and I eat to live not live to eat. There are so many positives from this surgery...

    Realistic goal?

No matter what your weight is in 12 1/2 weeks, you will be down quite a few inches. Think of the fun you will have SHOPPING for clothes for that cruise!
  11. Ok, I know if may be cliche, but it's really how I feel. By this time tomorrow...I will be banded and on my way to FINALLY becoming the person I feel like inside. Goodbye size 18 pants, 1XL shirts and size 8 underwear that are getting too small. Goodbye rolls that have for so long weighed me down and hidden my true potential. Goodbye "fat girl" stores and Plus Sized labels...both emotional & physical. Goodbye butt...I would be lying if I said I was sad to see YOU go. Goodbye weight that has FOREVER started with a "2". Hello 3 weeks of liquids, 2 weeks of mushies and a lifetime of new eating habits. Hello old friends that have been hidden under layers of fat aka muscles. Hello ONEDERLAND. Hello new perks, like crossing my legs, running with my kids, LIKING the reflection in my mirror. Hello new life...Hello WORLD. Here I come.

    Stretch Marks

They lose their purple colour and turn silver but will be there forever unfortunately. I dont have any on my stomach, and I gained none from 3 pregnancies at all but puberty wasnt kind to me. I went to bed a skinny flat chested kid one night at 15 and woke up the next day with DD's. Seemingly overnight I developed stretch marks on my breasts and hips. 23 years later they're just silvery white marks, but when I look down at my breasts the skin is corrugated, it puckers a bit round the stretch marks. However if they're pushed up in a bra I can put my cleavage on display because that fills them out, so its all good. The ones on my hips are fine, I wouldnt hesitate to show my skin, you can see they're there, but who doesnt have them? Every woman has stretchmarks.

    Stretch Marks

I have a lot of marks on my stomach. From weight and 2 kids. Since I have lost weight they are saggy. I dont really know what word to use for it. But they deffinitly have not got any better. In fact I think they looked better when they were filled in more. Not that I would go back or anything. I can hide my stretch marks but I couldnt hide the fat. LOL
  14. Accelerator, it is part of the whole biolean system (alot of natural weight loss herbs) my doctor uses it for all his non surgical patients, i tried just the biolean pills before we decided to do the band, but it made me feel like i was on diet pills to jittery and bitchy, taking just accelerator i feel no different .. we will see

    Schedule tracker?

I got MyFitnessPal right after my surgery and hated it. I can't really remember why. I got it again after reading the post yesterday and find it helpful. I guess I want it to read my weight on the main page but that's not a big deal.

    Painful to eat or drink

From past links on this site, it was noted that the pain experienced after plastic surgery is more severe than the pain from minimally invasive (laparoscopic) weight loss surgery.

    3 months post op.

I am feeling the same as you. I'm at a stall. I am following my NUT plan to the T. But I realized that earlier on I was losing weight daily because I was eating a lot less and healing my tummy. Now that I'm on a regular diet, I'm not losing weight. I track everything in myfitnesspal and my NUT is my friend on it too. That helps track what I eat. I'm so worried too about stretching it. Thanks Nancy
  20. Hi my name is sandy from NJ and I have decided to do the gastric sleeve. I have already met with my nutritionist and have 3 more left. Hopefully there are people out there that plan on doing the surgery or have done it...so let’s be buddies and fight the same psychological & physical battle.

    My story

Hi, my name is Gail and I'm 4 days sleeved, what a relief that it's over and I'm back home. I had it done at the Cleveland Clinic in Florida on 6/17/2014, I had a great team of doctors led by Dr. Szomstein and great care by the nurses at the clinic I would highly recommend having it done there. One thing I can can tell you if you are thinking of doing this is to research the procedure, go to the nutrition classes and support groups that the hospital offers this way nothing is a surprise. I didn't really have a weight problem until I hit 40 then I stopped smoking and it started piling on, I have been on every diet out there as I'm sure you all have, they all work for a while and then I would slip back and binge. I knew I had to do something because now I had developed all sort of related health problem such as high blood pressure, diabetes etc. I really have to say the whole really wasn't that bad the first 2 days are uncomfortable but otherwise it was okay. So now I begin my journey of dropping the weight i'm down 15lbs but that's moistly due to the liquid diet. I'll keep you posted
  22. That's great for 1 week out. I always lose weight in my face first. Hopefully the double chin!!!!

    Stalled

My surgeon absolutely insists that a huge key to all of this is NOT getting on the scale. That part of the changes he supports is not dieting, but life long. And that weighing oneself- is a dieting mindset that needs to be broken. That focusing on what you are doing everyday, the Water drinking, exercise, Protein, that doing this will take the weight off and to not focus on the numbers. I totally agree with him, remembering the times when I would weigh myself and have a false sense of security with it. That being said, I struggle with not weighing daily! Surgeon is a gem. I was his last patient, he retired on Aug 1st. He hated retiring, says this was the best job anyone could have ever had, that he has totally loved every minute of it. I am glad to have had him and his support!
  24. I just had my first Dr visit today and now the long wait for my insurance to come back. i hope to gain alittle more wisdom from the board. thanks for looking.

    2nd Fill, alittle tight

Ok, I got in a bit earlier for my second fill, yesterday 3/16, thank God....the hunger was getting pretty much. No portion control, and stall of weight loss, even with some exercise. So, now I feel a bit tight, having a bit of difficulty getting even the soft yogurt down. I am going to try to make it without calling the doc to unfill. I think after my stomach heals from the additional 1.7cc, I will be ok with eating again. Not hungry, mind is clear...no grazing, I think I will be fine and even might find my new total amt 6.4cc in my band, just might be the right amt for this month. Oh, got the Wii game.."Dancing with the stars" and love it. Time goes so fast when you are having fun. I have found myself sweating, that's a good thing. Patti with a smile:smile2:
