    working out=hungrier

OR but have to hold myself accountable. I have been feeling discouraged since I haven't been losing the lbs like I thought I would. I have had some nsvs though so that is motivating me a little. But the past week has been a bad week food wise. ( I haven't hit my green zone yet so I don't have a ton of restrictions) start my support classes on Thursday. So hopefully that will help. I have definitely noticed that I have been a lot hungrier since I have been running regularly. I know Protein and Water will help curb hunger. But it isn't enough to stop me, the hunger is still there. Does anyone know how long this will last? Or have any other advice how to curb this hunger?

    Exercise 'guilt'

@@lealor, I lost a lot of weight a few years ago and did it mostly with super intense exercise (and the grief from losing my dad unexpectedly). My decision to have WSL was largely because I loved working out and some of the things I like to do are difficult since I put on about 40 lbs. I was just cleared for strength training and yoga and have started back slowly. I don't have the strength or stamina that had in the past but I know I will get it back. Also, I love the endorphins and get addicted to them. Start out slowly and find things that make you happy and you enjoy. Pay attention to the NSV's such as muscle definition, increase in weight and reps; those are the things that kept me going.
  4. Aww!! thanks for the Temaki Tip! never knew it! I am glad I have had the chance to speak to u!! u are an info guru when it comes to my favorite food!! which I become addictive to after my band!! I was glad I found it too! it was my only way out! with the band "No chicken, meat or veggies can pass through!" so yeah I am glad to have great news about the sleeve and sashimi!! It is a great deal of losing weight! when u stay away from the fried stuff ofcourse:) Thanks again for ur detailed explaination!! it is a great insights to what I should expect in less than 4 days!! my surgery is on the 16th .. BEST OF LUCK on ur journey and glad ur ex wife saw u! and stared!! ) I cant wait for someone who called me a "cow" after he broke up with me years ago to see me after my sleeve! one of the NSV I am looking forward too! have a great week!! and one last question.. is the hunger really fading?
  5. I've had some medical issues over the past two months (not surgery/sleeve complications), so I've been preoccupied and not paying close attention to my weight loss. I realized a few days ago that my clothes are falling off. I decided to get a few things at Target, which led to today's NSV: I bought my first non-plus size shirts and dresses! My shopping experience was surreal. I started in Target's extremely inadequate plus-size department, but then I decided to try on the largest misses size (XXL). I started with a striped maxi dress. I couldn't believe it when it actually went over my body. I really couldn't believe it when I didn't want to break the mirror. Sure, I'm still "fluffy," but for the first time in years, I felt like my curves were attractive. This is a EPIC accomplishment for me. Outside of the dressing room, I felt like a fraud, though. I'd already confirmed for myself that I could fit into misses XXL, but I felt like people were judging me for straying outside the plus-size section. I actually felt paranoid that someone was going to walk up to me and suggest I stop looking in the misses section. For years, shopping for clothes has been demoralizing and painful for me. I guess it's going to take some time to get over that history. It seems silly to get so emotional over shopping, but I couldn't help my feelings. How do you feel as you shop for smaller clothes?

    NSV

Walking up a hill was a huge nsv for me. And i didn't realize i did it until my boyfriend bought it up after we walked up it. He said "you just walked up hill and didn't complain once. You are usually throwing a fit before we even get to it." But truth be told i didn't even notice. I wasn't even winded. It's a beautiful feeling isn't it? lol Sent from my SM-G925T using BariatricPal mobile app

    I suck....:(

Come on MollyBrown, You know the story of the tortoise and the hare.... You, Sades, Kuchie, and I are the November tortoises, but we are going to do fine. I'm down 37 pounds at six months. Although faster might be nicer, I am very happy with the fact that I weigh less now than I have in seven years. It was soooooo great to bring out my spring/summer clothes this year and find out that everything either fit or was too loose. In previous years, the seasonal change out has been very depressing, as everything was always too tight. I have a huge pile of stuff to give to Goodwill because it is too big. That's a big NSV for me. I had hoped to lose 70 pounds this year and 35 pounds in the second year. I'm on track for that (and so are you). Don't let it get you down. It will all click if you just hang in there. We are a thundering herd of tortoises! Invincible!
  10. Besides the normal ones, shopping in the regular clothes, no more meds for health issues... 1) buying a bra at Victoria Secrets and pushing the girls back up where they belong. 2) coughing and not having to cross my legs. The mommy cough as my friends call it. 3) not having to worry about camel toe when I wear pants. What are you looking forward to?
  11. I think this is one of my fav NSVs...not because it made you cry by the way!! It's because this is what we all need.... support and love from those who mean the most to us. I agree, you must hold on to this feeling; for me it is like a lottery win! Congrats to you and your fella xx

    NSV! So happy I cried!

Beautiful NSV Julie! Congratulations!!! and YOU GO GIRL!!!!! Rock that sleeve!!!!
  13. I'm glad to know that I'm not the only one. This morning, one of our vendors brought in donuts from this fabulous bakery. Just looking at them, the freshness of dumping over rode the desire to have a bite. This is a victory for me. My first NSV! I don't ever remember turning down a donut. Never. Ever. I'm the one who usually has seconds and thirds. GO ME! DJMOR - sorry that you are in the 20%. I know it must be hard. I had told myself that if I was in the 20%, it would just mean that I have to fight harder. I am going to stay away! I am committed to this lifestyle change.
  14. I'm 6 wks + a few days post-VSG; 30 pounds down (including a week of stall). Last night for the first time, I went to a restaurant for a sit-down dinner. I usually ordered an appetizer, entree, wine and maybe a dessert. So this was different: 1) holding off on my Water to save room for my food; 2) passing up on ordering any wine/martini; 3) do I just get an appetizer, knowing that that amount is all I'd likely be able to eat?; 4) do I get the entree only? 5) do I tell the waitress why 'no' to this/'no' to that? I ended up only ordering an entree (which, early-bird included a soup; I picked the black bean soup). The Soup came in a rather large bowl containing maybe ~8-10 ounces. I had 3 spoonfuls and stopped. My "crabmeat-stuffed tilapia" with veggies and rice dinner came. The 'stuff' part was perfect: soft, tasty, could've had more. The fish--broiled--went down well and I ate a few pieces of the squash and the zucchini, plus I allowed a few grains of rice, but NOT even a fork full of rice. BUT, bottom line...I brought ~85 % of everything home. (And I DID tell the waitress, but really didn't have to.) Advice: Just order an appetizer, or be prepared to bring everything else home for munching later. Plus, instead of an $50-80 tab, it was $16.00--an "NSV." Any others with advice on this? Thanks.

    Goals?!

Bumping for newbies -- and for a quick update. It's been a year since I started this thread, and I've actually met some of the goals. 1. To weigh less than any of my brothers for the first time since birth. YES! 2. To be able to buy clothes in a "regular" store and department, and not have to pay the women's-size premium when ordering through a catalog. (Notice how petite sizes don't cost any LESS than misses.)YES! But I still like Lane Bryant trousers since they fit my big behind and come in tall sizes. 3. To have my arse stop moving when I stop walking. Not yet. Probably never! 4. To be able to keep up with my nieces and nephew without having to take a nap. YES! 5. To have my driver's license weight be inaccurate, because it's too high. Not yet. But now it's at least plausible -- a mere 19 pounds off instead of 92. 6. To be able to sit in a tourist-class airplane seat without having to lift the armrest YES! and also not to have strangers wince when they realize that I'm seated next to them.No comment! New bandsters, please be patient with yourselves, no matter how hard it seems. Change does happen. Check out Vinesqueen's wonderful list of NSVs for great insights on achieving success with your band.
  20. Popular NSV, me thinks!

    Oh Cream Of Potato Soup!

"NSV" stands for "non scale victory".
  22. I have an odd NSV. I got rid of my scale yesterday. That thing has become my enemy. I know they say keep you friends close, but keep your enemies closer. Lol! Unfortunately, we had to part ways. I am one of those people that will weigh themselves several times a day. Then I get discouraged and it's all down hill from there. You see I am used to losing one pound a day and if I don't do that I get upset. I am losing tons of inches, don't know for sure how many so far because I never measured myself. I should have. I have dropped 4 pant sizes, 26 to an 18/20 and have went from a 46c to a 42b in about three weeks. Going to the gym is really dropping the inches, guess I thought I would lose equal parts inches and weight. Anyways, that enough of my rant, thanks for listening.
  23. Caysen has been bugging me for weeks to go have Mexican food at the local dive mexican food joint here. Well, I decided today to venture out and give it a whirl. . . The most exciting part of the meal was when I went to sit down and I didn't have to move the table closer to him to fit in between the seat and table. I almost moved it habitually, then stopped myself and thought to myself "go ahead, try to fit there, no one is looking, if you have to move it then move it" So, as I glided in slowly I realized not only was i going to actually fit, I had a good 8+ inches of space between my belly and the table. I know that sounds crazy, but living my life as fat as I was, moving tables to accomodate my size or asking for a table because booths were too small was an every outing occurence. It was so embarassing, and degrading, as I sit here almost in tears, I am so grateful to have my life back, and to not have to move the table anymore is such a great accomplishment. I don't care how much weight I lose, nothing will feel as good as this NSV. We ordered chicken fajitas for one off the lunch menu, and brought home enough food for another person to eat a fajita. I had 4-5 little strips of chicken with sour cream and salsa. It was by far the best feeling in the world with the booth situation, and I didn't get sick on any of the food. YIPPEEEEEEE! ! ! We went to the school this afternoon after lunch for the teacher meet-n-greet. He got a fabulous teacher, and I am so excited for him this year. He got Mr. B, and Mr. B is a buff, body builder teacher. He's strict yet fair, and we already talked about Caysen's attitude, and how it's time for Caysen to grow up. He will have homework every night, not in every subject, but 1-2 hours of homework can be expected. I think this year is going to be fabulous. We stopped off and spoke with his gym coach who had already found out who Caysen's primary teacher is this year. He said that Caysen was going to have a good year this year, and while he isn't bothered by Caysen's "smart assness", he can see how it can be distracting in a classroom setting. Caysen is really sarcastic, ummm kind like his mama ha ha ha. I know I need to set the example, but it is just how I am, and truthfully my entire family is the same way. We don't mean it negatively, it's just easier to be sarcastic than it is to be dry and dull. Caysen is always respectful, and minds his manners, but he can be a bit of a smartass. Day 2 of not smoking is going well. I really want to smoke, but at the same time, I haven't been nauseated today. I almost drove to the corner store, and Caysen touched my arm and said " but mommy, I don't want you sick anymore." I made a u-turn and headed to the house. I have eaten more today than I have in a week, and been able to keep everything down. I'm still only getting in 400-500 calories a day, but it's better than 200. I got a little nauseous right after we ate only because it's hot outside today, and when I get hot, I get icky feeling. The heat pretty much zaps me. John called this morning, and we were able to talk for 40 minutes. He is so ready to come home. Projected return date is the same so far, but I'm not getting my hopes up. He told me this morning, just be prepared to be flexible and expect delays. He literally made my day today, I was pretty down in the dumps, and he knew exactly what to say. We had a good giggle over my fat roll, it's an inside joke, y'all definitely wouldn't understand it, but lordy it's hilarious. We both had a good giggle, and he told me how much he had missed hearing me laugh. I haven't had a good laugh in months it seems like. Anyways, August is techincally 2/3 done, just another 10-11 days and then we'll definitely be in the homestretch.

  25. I had a bmi of Obesity (Class 2) pre op and now on week 14 post op i have an Overweight bmi and this makes me so happy! I'm feel so close to a normal bmi and to my goal weight that it seems unreal, my clothes don't fit anymore, i love that but at the same time i hate it, because i had tons and now i'm left with just a few options and i don't want to shop for clothes that i will just wear once. An amazing NSV i wore a shirt that i got 3 years ago when i lost weight and i couldn't wear all this years because of course i gained back, and it was a little losse that felt so good, i didn't think i will fit, i guess i don't see myself that different but i am.
